The album is chronologically and stylistically a follow-up to his acclaimed 1986 works GREEN and SURROUND, wherein Yoshimura continues to play with the ambience of sound and the sound of ambience, underscoring his mastery in the field of environmental music. Yoshimura's other recorded works include Music For Nine Post Cards (1982), originally produced to be played back inside a museum space, and Pier & Loft (1983), commissioned as accompaniment to a contemporary fashion show.

With their debut album Channels on !K7 Records, Kassian (Joe Danvers-McCabe and Warren Cummings) have come full circle, focusing on the warmer, sample-based, and house-inspired sonics that brought them together. Kassian periodically revisited these initial pieces throughout the last five years until they felt able to journey deeper, using their rapidly developing craft and refined production techniques to build a debut album that momentarily steps away from some of their more club-focused excursions. “As we were writing, we realized that all the tracks had the unique potential to tell a story,” reflects Cummings, with Channels leading the listener through a series of different atmospheres and emotional terrains.

Essential to Channels is Kassian’s focus on time’s ability to reorient human perspective. Kassian worked on the album over an extended period, with instrumentation, field recordings, and percussion first constructed and then subsequently stripped away and refined.

Channels contains their early love of tube warm, sample based sounds and live instrumentation as the foundation for this album. The working process for these rippling pieces used both sequenced workflow and improvisational arrangement, live instrumentation inspired by an array of deeper emotional content. Both members of Kassian experienced great personal loss during the period of making this album, and a tenderness is felt throughout the record.

This record is an earthy thing, its naturalistic track names evoking recognisable and cyclically familiar moments, Kassian have provided a map for the listener at the forefronts of their minds. Channels features Ezra Collective’s Joe Armon-Jones on keys, and Timothy Kraemer on cello distilling this body of work into a deep stream between the organic and improvised, and the sequenced and planned.

Don Kashew returns to Subject To Restrictions Discs with the album ‘Bellows’. A haunting, melodic, maudlin affair, as one would expect from the Zurich-based producer, with a variety of ‘breathing’ instruments as a fulcrum, that challenges any physicality.

The compositions draw from the pool of New Age music and neo-folk of the 80s and 90s. But ‘Bellows’ stretches and looks at the future, deliberately blurring lines that were supposedly anchored. So, Don Kashew has begun a new phase in his musical expression; quivering, but grounded and interwoven in a rich arras of synth work and overlapping woodwind sounds.

Beats. Jetzt ist das Album, welches damals nur auf Kassette und CD erschien, in neuem Gewand zurück.
Die 30. Jubiläumsedition kommt als farbige Doppel-LP in „Sparkle Universe“ in streng limitierter und von
Hand nummerierter Auflage in den Handel. Auch mit dabei: ein besonderes Booklet, in welchem sogleich
das zweite große Jubiläum Lindenbergs zelebriert wird: sein Start in die Welt der bildenden Künste.
Schon zuvor skribbelte und zeichnete Lindenberg leidenschaftlich gern. Die Veröffentlichung des Albums
„Kosmos“ nahm er sich allerdings zum Anlass, parallel einen Kunstkalender zu veröffentlichen – sein erster
offzieller Auftritt als bildender Künstler. Der Kunstkalender beinhaltete passend zu jedem der 12 Songs
auf dem Album ein eigenes Werk. Diese finden sich heute im Booklet der Vinyl und der CD wieder. Wie
heute bekannt ist, markiert dieser Kalender damit den Startschuss für seine zweite bahnbrechende Karriere
als Maler.
Auch das Dritte, 30-jährige Jubiläum ist ein wichtiger Teil seines Lebens: 1995 bezog Lindenberg seine
„Panikzentrale“ im Hotel Atlantic, wo er den Dachboden als Atelier nutzt und das Hotel einige seiner Werke
ausstellt.
Um diese Jubiläen gebührend zu feiern, erscheint die Neuauflage des Albums am 28. Februar im Handel.

Music is like literature: getting through a second novel or second album is often a perilous exercise. Spatsz and Mona Soyoc, propelled into the limelight by their explosive Try Out, headed off to New York to record a follow-up to this fabulous debut. By Pass (1983) follows in the musical and sonic footsteps of its predecessor. The same sticky synth layers, the same flayed vocals capable of voluptuous flights, KaS Product still navigates the murky waters of a nervous, unhealthy cold wave, somewhere between the gall of Suicide and the gothic melodies of Siouxsie. And the melodies are always there, as on the stunning "Tina Town" and "T.M.T", two of the most successful tracks on an album that holds up remarkably well, and also deserves a closer look at its detours, such as "Taking Shape" or "Tape" at the end of the disc.

Exploring late-night, after-hours meditations on sound; ‘Everything Above The Sky (Astral Travelling with Luke Una)’ is a new compilation by the titular DJ, promoter and enigmatic cultural curator. Off the back of the E Soul Cultura phenomena, this compilation comes at a timely point in Luke’s rich career as he soars the heights of playing all over the world. Avoiding any chance of his sound being pigeonholed, Luke has put together a tracklist of songs and music that have a transcendental feel, after coming off the grid, going back to source, outside the city walls .

Music has long been believed to aid out of body experiences and many of us have searched long and hard for a combination of those elusive ingredients that might alleviate some of the monotony of everyday life, our daily routines and obligations, and those things that seem to block us from the spirit of the universe. In this collection, Luke selects music with all the right ingredients in just the right quantities, allowing the listener to engage in an esoteric journey of enlightenment through sound. Being a prolific collector of music, Luke initially delivered enough tracks to compile several compilations, making the licensing process the biggest effort to date for the label. The music moves softly and slowly, never becoming too intrusive, exemplifying the wonderful elevating properties of simple songs played from the heart.

Vibraphone and keyboard player, master arranger and bandleader, Mulatu Astatke is one of the all-time greats of Ethiopian music and the creator of his own original music form, Ethio jazz. Through the acclaimed Ethiopiques album series and through featuring on the soundtrack to the Jim Jarmusch film Broken Flowers, his music has belatedly reached a global audience and a new, younger generation of fans. In November of last year, he recorded an inspired new album with London psych jazz band The Heliocentrics for Strut's 'Inspiration Information' studio collaboration series. Now, Strut are proud to present, for the first time anywhere, the definitive Mulatu career retrospective covering his landmark 60's and 70's recordings.
Mulatu is a true pioneer of African music. He was the first Ethiopian musician of his generation to travel extensively and to record abroad - he studied in the UK in Wales and at Trinity College Of Music in London, cutting his teeth on the buoyant London jazz scene of the early 60's. He became the first African student to attend Harvard and he lived and recorded in New York, developing a unique sound that fused Western jazz with traditional Ethiopian melodies.
Tracing the progression of his Ethio jazz experiments with full access to all of the labels for whom he recorded, Mulatu Astatke: New York-AddisLondon is the essential Mulatu. Covering his first recordings in the UK during 1965, his groundbreaking fusions for the small Worthy label in New York and his key '70s recordings back in Addis on Amha, Phillips and Axum, the album features comprehensive sleeve notes by Miles Cleret, boss of the excellent Soundway Records imprint, and rare, previously unseen photos from Mulatu's personal archive.

Als Meister des melancholischen Heavy Metal sind Avatarium seit 2013 eine einzigartige und beeindruckende musikalische Kraft. Das Weeks Island-Projekt begann 2018, als Jonny Campos während einer Tour-Pause als Gitarrenspieler für die Grammy-prämierte Cajun-Gruppe Lost Bayou Ramblers Lust auf etwas anderes hatte. Im Haus seines Bandkollegen nahm an zwei Nachmittagen eine Reihe tiefer, amöbenhafter, ambienter Pedal-Steel-Passagen auf. Die Tracks auf "Droste" sind nach Gewässern benannt, die es nicht mehr gibt und deren Namen dank der zerfallenden Küstenlinien Südlouisianas von den Karten gelöscht wurden. Dieses Gefühl der Vergänglichkeit schwebt über dieser Platte - die Tracks beginnen und enden nicht wirklich, es ist eher ein hinein- und wieder hinausgleiten. The Acidboychair music project started in the early noughties as a commentary on what journalist Simon Reynolds would summarise a few years later as Retromania. Initially conceived by Thomas Baldischwyler and Andreas Diefenbach as a performative revival travesty with large-format drum computers and synthesizers reconstructed from cardboard, everything took a surprising turn when DJ Mooner (the man behind the now defunct Munich music label Erkrankung Durch Musique) took an interest in the adventurous audio material produced by Baldischwyler. In 2005, the LP 1987 (EDM1016), produced almost exclusively with long-forgotten software (SoundEdit 16, RB-338, etc.), was released on Mooner's label. As a result of the growing number of bookings, Baldischwyler had to think about improving the performability of his intentionally amateurish productions. Fortunately, the Ableton Live programme became a DAW with a MIDI sequencer and support for VST plug-ins as early as 2004 - and this made it easier for him to execute his intuitive, error-friendly version of acid house. This can be heard on the first two sample-heavy tracks on the A-side of Come Down Easy, which were recorded in 2005 and 2006 respectively at Acidboychair gigs at Hamburg's Golden Pudel Club and Munich's Registratur. The first two tracks on the B-side (produced sometime between 2006 and 2008) were actually supposed to be part of a solo release on the Acido label run by Dynamo Dreesen, but this never materialised. However, the final tracks and the 133.3 BPM lock grooves that follow are the title and central to this catalogue number TBG123: Through ethno-musicologist Arthur Boto Conley, who had already released a one-sided 12 on his label with material from one of Baldischwyler's audio installations, he met Florian Meyer (Don't DJ) and Marc Matter (Spoken Matter), who introduced him to their collaborative project Institut F?r Feinmotorik (IFFM). Baldischwyler's attempt to approach the sound aesthetics of IFFM led to the tape 60 Minutes Of Barely Modified Lock Grooves (TCCC06), recorded in Rome in 2018. A buyer of this tape introduced him to the Detroit collective Pure Rave, which he immediately contacted and introduced to the work of the IFFM. It was important for Baldischwyler to have an analogue update made and so both the Detroiters and IFFM, who now live in Berlin, were given 8 copies of EDM1016's backstock to remix the material in their own way. At their jam in Detroit, Pure Rave opted for the almost identical material that IFFM had also used for a live performance in the Hamburg project space Beek. The dominant jumps in both arrangements come from the track Eightyseven, produced in the early 2000s for the LP 1987, an awkward remix of the Spacemen 3 track Come Down Easy, which is also referred to in the liner notes on the inner sleeve of TBG123. The almost two-decade-old revival idea thus turns into false memory syndrome and runs into a - in keeping with our times - clean-cut (endless) groove. Kassem Mosse (The KM of MM/KM) on Come Down Easy after a first listening session: I think it all works very well as a mix, no matter where you start it carries you further forward back in the loop. if I understand the liner notes correctly, it's about the music's turn from tradition preservation (doing everything right) to ecstatic delusion (not doing everything right when intoxicated). Now that I'm reading again instead of listening, the titles give me a different understanding of the connections; how the skipping belongs together, which playtime is connected. Now I can name my favourites. Thank you for the journey!

KSB stands for Kashmere Stage Band group that was initially founded by Conrad O. Johnson. He was at the heart of the group which is surely one of the most accomplished student outfits of all time. They hailed from the eponymous Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas, and were active in the 1960s on until the late 1970s. They related a number of albums which only get got pressed up a maximum of 1000 times so have become cult favs and hard to find treasures. P-VINE however changes all that with a series of limited reissues of their most renowned albums, including this one, Out Of Gas But Still Burning, as well as some others which have never actually been on wax before.

Da Beatminerz defined the dark, gritty sound of underground Hip-Hop in the '90s. Formed in 1992 by brothers Walter “Mr. Walt” and Ewart “DJ Evil Dee” Dewgarde, the production duo pioneered Hip-Hop's brooding vibes, a tonal shift that came with the release of Black Moon's classic debut album Enta Da Stage. As producers of the seminal 1993 project in its entirety, Da Beatminerz set a precedent for hardcore Hip-Hop.

Their sample-heavy, gutter tracks laced with heavy basslines, and hard kicks and snares helped reshape the music genre. Da Beatminerz continued to refine their distinct sound and identity with countless classic records for other artists and two albums of their own (2001’s Brace 4 Impak and 2004’s Fully Loaded w/ Statik) over the course of their illustrious 30-year career.

Stifled Creativity is the duo’s first full-length album in 20 years.

Die Chronologie von Schnitzlers Solo-Veröffentlichungen in den 70er und vor allem in den 80er Jahren gleicht einem Buch mit sieben Siegeln. In zeitweise sehr kurzen Abständen brachte Schnitzler seine Musik teils auf analogen Kassetten, teils auf LPs heraus, nicht selten als "private releases", das heißt in eigener Regie und ohne Hilfe eines Labels oder professioneller Vertriebe. Das gelbe Album beispielsweise erschien 1981 als LP auf dem Label der Kunstgalerie von René Block in Berlin, nachdem Schnitzler bereits eine Reihe anderer Tonträger auf diversen Labels herausgebracht hatte. Tatsächlich ist die Musik des gelben Albums aber bereits 1974 als "The Black Cassette" in wahrscheinlich sehr geringer Stückzahl von Schnitzler selbst vertrieben worden. Das gelbe Album hat den Untertitel "12 Stücke aus dem Jahr 1974". Schon das deutet auf etwas Neues hin, denn bis dahin gingen Schnitzlers Stücke grundsätzlich über die ganze Platten- bzw. Kassettenseite. Hier versucht er sich nun erstmals an einer kürzeren Form. Außerdem neu: Schnitzler lässt auf mehreren Stücken nicht mehr nur automatische Klangprozesse ablaufen, sondern benutzt seine Keyboards offensichtlich auch, um "mit der Hand" gespielte melodie- ähnliche Improvisationen in seinen musikalischen Kosmos zu integrieren. Die eigentlich so kristalline, anorganische Kunstwelt Schnitz- lers wird damit um ein organisches, fast menschliches Element berei- chert. Durch die Musik des gelben Albums weht ein durchaus laues, freundliches Lüftchen, zum Glück meilenweit entfernt von den senti- mentalen Plattitüden der gebrauchsfertigen Ambient-Musik der 80er. Das gelbe Album ist nicht nur durch und durch freundlich, sondern es dokumentiert auch einen wichtigen Schritt in Schnitzlers musikalischer Entwicklung. Das späte Erscheinen als LP (1981) und die fehlenden diskografischen Angaben ließen diesen Gesichtspunkt etwas in den Hintergrund rücken. Aufmerksamen Hörern und Schnitzler-Kennern war jedoch sofort klar, dass das Album eine besondere Wegmarke darstellte, die einen deutlichen Weg in die Zukunft wies. Schnitzler hatte begonnen, sich aus dem Korsett der orthodoxen Konzeptkunst zu befreien, um in lichte Weiten unentdeckter musikalischer Gebiete vorzustoßen.

Sunroof, alias Daniel Miller & Gareth Jones, veröffentlichen ihr brandneues Album „Electronic Music Improvisations Volume 3“

„Electronic Music Improvisations Volume 3“ ist eine Sammlung von neun improvisierten Tracks, die mit den Eurorack-Modularsystemen des Duos aufgenommen wurden, und baut auf den selbst auferlegten Parametern ihres Debüts aus dem Jahr 2021 auf. Daniel Miller, der Gründer und Vorsitzende von Mute, und Gareth Jones, Produzent und Tontechniker, der durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Depeche Mode, den Einstürzenden Neubauten, Erasure und Yann Tiersen bekannt wurde, arbeiten seit vier Jahrzehnten zusammen. Obwohl sich beide nicht mit ihrer Vergangenheit befassen, sondern lieber immer wieder neue Wege beschreiten, wird das Erbe von Miller und Mute in dem Track „Splendid“ erwähnt, der mit dem deutlichen Zischen einer Kassette über einem rhythmischen Herzschlag beginnt, bevor die Oszillatoren platzen und kollidieren. Dieser Track wurde mit dem originalen 4-Spur-TEAC aufgenommen, den Miller in den späten 70er Jahren aus zweiter Hand erwarb und auf dem er die 7 Inch „Warm Leatherette“ von The Normal aufnahm.
Dieses Album folgt auf ihr Debüt „Electronic Music Improvisations Vol. 1“ (2021) und ihr zweites Album „Electronic Music Improvisations Vol.2“ (2023), sowie auf ihre Bandcamp-exklusive Veröffentlichung „Electronic Music Improvisations Live in London and Frankfurt“, die ihre Live-Shows im Frankfurter Museum für moderne elektronische Musik und im Londoner IKLECTIK aufzeichnet.

Self-released in 1969 ‘Our Thing’ is the debut album of the performing Houston unit known as Kashmere Stage Band. The Texas student band came together at the Kashmere High School and under the direction of musical director Conrad O. Johnson, released a series of cult album on Kram Records, before disbanding in 1978. Raw funk, that’s basically what they’ve been playing and clearly there was a blacksploitation feel all over the place, but their drive was quite unique. Rediscover the myth.

Formed in 2020 in Silkeborg, Denmark, NECKBREAKKER, consists of Christoffer Kofoed (Vocals), Sebastian Knoblauch (Bass), Anton ’Hajn’ Bregendorf (Drums), Joakim Kaspersen (Guitar) and Johan Lundvig (Guitar). Gavin Vanaelst runs the space Aboli Bibelot in Antwerp where exhibitions and musical performances can happen side to side with dealings in centuries-old furniture and unique pieces of folk art or volkskunst. Gavin makes music under the aliases DJ Charme, Kassett and So Sorry. This is the first album under his birth name. Takeaway Loops cycles back to the days when Gavin was working as a courier for .

is a food delivery company. Their couriers - ehm, brand ambassadors, as the company prefers to call them - dressed in bright orange, they race their bikes around the city. They deliver meals and groceries for all sorts. Thanks to them, the privileged can stay tucked in their private spaces. Interaction between the two groups - the privileged and the brand ambassadors - is mostly kept to the bare minimum. And sparse communications are often driven by annoyances - “my Coke is warm because you kept it too close to the French Fries.” And on the streets the general public dis-approaches the brand ambassadors with pity. We tell our peers: “That’s not a good job,” and “stay away from the Sharing Economy.” Because, you know, in our capitalistic dollhouse we all stand our grounds and play our parts wholeheartedly.

During his shifts for , Gavin recorded location sounds on his phone at fast food restaurants while waiting on the orders he had to pick up and deliver. Later in his home studio Gavin added piano and electronics to this source material. The result: a gloomy soundtrack for a shadow world. Seven songs in evening blue with a bright orange glare.

A few years ago, our favorite Belgian publishing house Het Balanseer released Seizoenarbeid by Heike Geissler (available in English trough Semiotext(e)). Geissler writes about her job at Amazon in Leipzig. Because her writing and freelance work did not pay the bills any longer, she was forced towards this underprivileged shadow-world of unwanted jobs. Seizoenarbeid shed a light on freedom in an unfree world. A monument of ‘we are all in this, but not together’. Takeaway Loops gives us a similar peak in a world that is at the same time so visible, but then also very veiled for many. A world that we prefer to use, yet that most of us prefer not to see - a world that we don’t like to enter.

Last year at Harbourland subway station in Kobe i was mesmerized by its sound design, created by Hiroshi Yoshimura. For each part of the subway station he composed a short phrase. While walking trough the station, a full composition grows in your head. The looping melodies guide you trough a microworld. Trough a blue world of commuters, of the homeless, of the lonely, of the fast paced, of the tourist. Gavin creates a similar effect with Takeaway Loops. The tonality somehow corresponds to Yoshimura’s work. Yet instead of being guided trough a building, we are now taken to the after dark. You feel the concrete evening heat of the city. You hear the rain. Stiff fingers during cold winters’ nights. You are alone on the bike, cruising. Your maps app telling you where to go. You just left the fake leather bench of the well-lit pastiche interior of a fast food restaurant.

Am 19. November 1984 wurde „Unter falscher Flagge“, das zweite Album der Toten Hosen, veröffentlicht. Um diesen 40. Geburtstag gebührend zu feiern, erscheint am 15.11.2024 „Unter falscher Flagge 1984 – 2024: Die 40 Jahre-Jubiläumsedition“ in opulenter Ausstattung mit 16 Bonustracks, drei davon bislang unveröffentlicht!

Nachdem die Band mit ihrer gerade mal ein Jahr zuvor rausgekommenen Debüt-LP 1983 in erster Linie in der Punkszenen für Aufsehen sorgte, wurde die zweite Scheibe auch erstmals von der sich seriös gebenden Musikpresse wahrgenommen. Für viele, die gehofft hatten, dass sich der Spuk mit der Düsseldorfer Radautruppe schnell wieder von selbst erledigen würde, gab es ein bitteres Erwachen. Die Hosen hatten hörbar die immer noch rudimentären Kenntnisse ihrer Instrumente erweitert, kaschierten das mit aggressiver Spielfreude und deutlich mehr durchgetretenem Gaspedal als noch auf dem Erstlingswerk.

Dadurch und unzählige wilde Konzerte in immer voller werdenden Clubs zementierten sie allmählich ihren Ruf als chaotische aber ernstzunehmende Band.

„Unter falscher Flagge 1984 – 2024: Die 40 Jahre-Jubiläumsedition“ erscheint in einer aufwendigen, auf 7.000 Exemplare limitierten und nummerierten Auflage. Das Hardcover-Gatefold-Deluxe-Book enthält das Album als 180g-Vinylschallplatte und CD sowie eine Bonus-CD mit 16 Bonustracks, die rund um die Original-Veröffentlichung auf Singles, Maxis und diversen Demos erschienen. Die Demoversionen von „Shake Hands“, „Betrunken im Dienst“ und „Der Mord an Vicky Morgan“ wurden erstmals aus den Untiefen des DTH-Archives exklusiv für diese Jubiläums-Edition ausgegraben!

Das aufwendig gestaltete Booklet im LP-Format enthält auf satten 32 Seiten eine Vielzahl bislang unveröffentlichter Fotos, historisch wertvoller Presseartikel und weitere Schmuckstücke aus der Sammlung der beteiligten Musiker. This compilation, aptly named after the club's mantra, serves not only as a celebration of its rich history but also as a testament to the enduring legacy of the artists who have graced its stage. Anadol and Marie Klock have teamed up for a joint album, La Grande Accumulation. They met two years ago at a festival in England crowded with violent seagulls and outsider musicians. Klock being prone to barking on stage and Anadol not laughing at jokes she doesn’t find funny, they straight away had the intuition that they would meet again. And so they did, a few months later, at Anadol’s studio in Istanbul.

Today, the two Pingipung artists present the fruit of this musical friendship. La Grande Accumulation was born out of the peculiar atmosphere of the studio neighbourhood in Büyükada, an island where thousands of cats run free and humans randomly destroy things during apocalyptic times when parts of Turkey had just been turned into dust by terrible earthquakes. The French lyrics are inspired by hours of conversations, the music is consequently drenched in absurdity, overflowing with a strong urge to live and enjoy. According to the LP sticker, this album has been certified “Best handshake of 2024”, and stickers never lie.

La Grande Accumulation brings together Marie Klock's mysterious metaphors and Anadol's intriguing radiophonic psych-pop. Stretching forms beyond common sense to see how long they can resist is probably their favourite game. The result are six highly imaginative tracks that challenge the sub-3-minutes standards of Spotify pop.

Gözen Atila aka Anadol is well known to the Pingipung audience, with three solo LPs on the label. Her music follows a kind of collage logic, she interweaves countless styles, combining field and studio recordings with obscure quotation marks here and there. "I hope no one will come and explain this music to me, because it's the most beautiful music there is", says Kristoffer Cornils about her solo album Felicita.

Marie Klock is a French writer and musician who produces songs oscillating between synthpop and neo-folk, full of anarchic humour and existential dread. Her recent solo LP on Pingipung was a captivating tribute to the recently deceased poet Damien Schultz entitled Damien est vivant.

Marie Klock delivers her lyrics in song or spoken word, stream-of-consciousness musings on strange human adventures, and her rich keyboard melodies culminate in a nonchalant dialogue with the bass trombone (La Reine des Bordels). In the opulent opening piece (La Grande Accumulation), a woman is cursed to take home everything she kicks in the street; a bit later, we stumble upon a ghoul hiding in the gutter (Sirop amer), Mona Lisa loses her teeth (Sonate au Jambon) and a warthog struggles to climb the stairs of a silver tower (Sabots triviaux).

La Grande Accumulation was mixed and mastered by Jonas Romann at Chaos Compressor Club in Hamburg and cut to vinyl by Kassian Troyer at D&M in Berlin. It's an audiophile LP that invites to focus on every detail in this heap of musical ideas.
