For over two decades Bjørke has cut his own path, as a solo artist and enthusiastic collaborator. Bjørke’s Copenhagen home may be one of Europe’s great cultural hubs, and he’s certainly added a paragraph or two to that story, but his music is distinctly international. Even a cursory listen exposes an impressive, ever-evolving career. However, few expected him to initiate the collaborative ambient / neo-classical project Kasper Bjørke Quartet. In 2018 The Fifty Eleven Project was released on Kompakt Records, a deeply personal record that musically documents Bjørkes encounter with, and triumph over, cancer. The album topped many critics' lists, and was included among The Guardian’s Best Contemporary Albums of the year.

Mother, which will be released on October 28th, represents a quantum leap forward. Literally, when you consider the terrestrial shifts that informed it. Six compositions explore what the evolution of our planet sounds like. While Holst may have gotten there first, Mother singularly focuses on the orb where we reside, from its formation, to its likely conclusion. Other artists have tackled song cycles that parallel a day, a year, or even a lifetime. Mother spans a timeframe from 4.5 billion years ago up to humankind’s impending demise. It hints at how that may be sooner than we think, as well as the earth’s resilience, and the promise of another chapter.

Additional gravity comes courtesy of evocative choir arrangements - - and marimba recorded at the Copenhagen Opera House. “Formation” condenses 20 million years of runaway accretion into 20 minutes. It is sublimely padded by feature artist Sofie Birch’s gentle synths. “Abiogenesis” intimates a different type of emergence: the first life to inhabit our nascent planet. The entire cosmos is condensed into the layered vocals of Philip|Schneider. Birch returns on “Miocene,” which signals the divergence of proto-humans from primates not with foreboding, but rather cascaded notes and swells adumbrating a pure and curious being, revealing nothing of what the Catch-22 of knowledge will bring. That’s addressed in the diptych of “Anthropocene” and “Tipping Points,” respectively marking the dawn and foreshadowing the probable downfall of homosapians, through wondrous advancements and their climate damaging byproducts. It’s tempting to think the album’s finale, “Requiem,” implies only a dark conclusion, owing to its sparkling verrillon’s coronach, and the return of Philip|Schneider’s empyrean vocals, but its juxtaposition with revolving, enigmatic piano chords infers the earth will enter its next act.

Mother is a staggering achievement, encouraging contemplative thought. The album is released October 28th on Kompakt Records, both digitally and on limited edition double vinyl. The atwork is designed by multidisciplinary artist Trevor Jackson.

Seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten folgt Kasper Bjørke seinem ganz eigenen Weg, sowohl als Solokünstler als auch als umtriebiger Kollaborateur, während er gleichzeitig das Beste aus Techno, Pop, Elektro, New Wave, House, Ambient, Italo und klassischer Disco aufgreift und in seinen Produktionen zusammenfügt. “Mother”, das am 28. Oktober erscheint, ist ein Quantensprung für das Kasper Bjørke Quartett. Im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes, wenn man die tektonischen Bewegungen bedenkt, die dem Album zugrunde liegen. Sechs Kompositionen erforschen, wie sich die Evolution unseres Planeten anhört. Gustav Holst (englischer Komponist, dessen bekanntestes Werk die Orchestersuite “Die Planeten” darstellt; Anm. des Übersetzers) war vielleicht zuerst da, aber “Mother” konzentriert sich ausschließlich auf die Erdkugel, auf der wir uns befinden, von ihrer Entstehung bis zu ihrem wahrscheinlichen Ende. Andere Künstler haben sich mit Songzyklen beschäftigt, die einen Tag, ein Jahr oder sogar ein ganzes Leben abdecken. “Mother” umfasst etwa 4,5 Milliarden Jahre, vom Anfang aller Zeit bis zum bevorstehenden Untergang der Menschheit. Das Werk deutet an, dass dies schneller geschehen könnte, als wir alle denken, aber auch die Widerstandsfähigkeit der Erde und das Versprechen auf ein neues Kapitel.

Für zusätzliche Erdanziehung sorgen stimmungsvolle Chor Arrangements und eine Marimba-Sektion, die im Kopenhagener Opernhaus aufgenommen wurde. "Formation" verdichtet 20 Millionen Jahre unkontrollierter Akkumulation in 20 Minuten, subtil untermalt von den sanften Klängen der Ambient-Künstlerin Sofie Birch. "Abiogenesis" beschreibt das erste Leben, das entsteht und unseren Planeten besiedelt. Der gesamte Kosmos verdichtet sich hier in den vielschichtigen Vocals von Philip|Schneider. Birch taucht erneut im Track "Miocene" auf, in dem das evolutionäre Streben des Proto-Menschen weg vom Primaten noch keine böse Vorahnung enthält, sondern mit kaskadenartigen Sounds und langsam anschwellenden Klängen musikalisch vom reinen und neugierigen Wesen des Menschen erzählt, in dem noch nichts von der Zwickmühle zum Vorschein kommt, in die ihn sein Wissen bringen wird.

Das wird im Diptychon "Anthropocene" und "Tipping Points" thematisiert, die den Anfang vom Ende, den Beginn des wahrscheinlichen Untergangs des Homo sapiens durch die Folgen des Fortschritts und seiner klimaschädlichen Nebenprodukte vorhersagen. Es ist naheliegend zu denken, dass das Finale des Albums, "Requiem", nur das düstere Ende von allem darstellt. Doch as funkelnde Glockenspiel und Philip|Schneiders eindringlicher Gesang in Gegenüberstellung mit sich windenden und erratischen Klavierakkorden deuten an, dass die Geschichte der Erde ein neues Kapitel aufschlagen wird.

Mother ist eine beeindruckende Performance, die zum Nachdenken anregt.

Following the reissue of the self-titled debut by Tülay German & François Rabbath in 2021, we're presenting the 2nd and final part of our Tülay German reissues: "Homage to Nazım Hikmet" (1982). Once again in a duo setting with François Rabbath, Tülay German pays tribute to one of Turkey's greatest poets of the 20th century: Nazım
Hikmet (1902-1963).

Recorded in the early 80s this two-album workcycle refers heavily on turkish poets and the tradition of aşıks (singer-poets and wandering bards) and consists of unique and modern interpretations of turkish folk songs unmatched to this day.

Back in the 60s Tülay German (*1935 in Istanbul, Turkey) shook the turkish music landscape with several 7" records. Most notably her first 7" record Burçak Tarlası (1964) is now considered
the cornerstone of what was to become the Anadolu Rock/ Pop movement and underlines her rebellious nature and sense of justice. But due to increasing repression Tülay German and her
lifelong partner and intellectual impetus Erdem Buri decided to leave Turkey a few years later.

In France Tülay German signs a major contract with Philips resulting in many 7" releases sung in french under her french moniker Toulaϊ. In the long run Tülay German doesn't feel quite comfortable with this major deal. And thus, despite the success and recognition she had gained, she decides to quit the contract with Philips!

Later on she signs to independent world-music label Arion to pursue her actual artistic goals more in line with her origin and temperament. Back to her mother tongue, Tülay German records above mentioned albums for Arion under full artistic freedom, the only full-lenghths in
her 20+ years career. Alongside with double-bass virtuoso and turkophil François Rabbath (*1931 in Aleppo, Syria) the albums consist of aşık traditionals and intonated poems mainly by
Nazım Hikmet. Her passionate voice and the restrained arrangements of François Rabbath turn these centuries old melodies and poems into glowing manifestos for love and justice. The fruitful collaboration of these artists-in-exile adds significantly to the rich heritage of turkish folk music.

Nazım Hikmet (1902-1963) is considered as one of Turkey's greatest poets of the 20th century, though during his lifetime his works were banned in Turkey for decades and he spent most of his life in prison or in exile. He is up to this day a huge reference for turkish writers,
musicians and intellectuals.

Tülay German ended her musical career in 1987. In 2021 Tülay German was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Turkey.

Freedom is both an integral and multi-layered topic for improvised music, describing its mechanics, aesthetics, and values and often an underlying political dimension as well. In the case of free jazz specifically, the word carries additional weight given the music's deep connection to the black liberation movement of the 1960's and 70's.

The passionate and unclassifiable work of Calgary-based improviser Jairus Sharif embraces each of these definitions of freedom and others, albeit strictly on its own personal and idiosyncratic terms. Since early 2020, the 34 year-old autodidact has been generating a steady stream of homespun solo recordings that forge unprecedented connections between hip-hop abstraction, cosmic skronk, outsider jazz, and staunch post-punk DIY ethos.

Leading up to the pandemic, Sharif's immersion in spiritual and exploratory jazz had culminated in him deciding to purchase an alto saxophone. Unbeknownst to him this instrument would be a catalyst for him to discover his own ardently individualistic artistic voice.

Prior to that point, he had always been somewhat of a solitary musical traveler. In 2002, he acquired his first instrument—a pair of Technics 1200s — but struggled to find local collaborators that had equal investment in hip hop culture. Ultimately, Sharif picked up the guitar, turning to the resilient local punk community, that had also nurtured both of his mothers some time earlier.

As Black Lives Matter gained momentum in the wake of George Floyd's murder, Sharif was suddenly flooded with an acute awareness of his own identity. It compelled him to zealously plunge headlong into open-ended spontaneous solo creation. Water & Tools, his strange and stirring debut for Toronto's Telephone Explosion Records (home to full-lengths from the likes of Brodie West's Eucalyptus, Mas Aya, and Joseph Shabason), offers a glimpse into this ongoing hermetic journey.

As Sharif dedicated himself to uncovering his own deeper musical truths, he assembled a home studio in his basement, cobbling together a drum kit from bits his bandmate had left at his house pre-pandemic, chaining effects together and outfitting the entire space with microphones. Somewhere between the chaos of child's treehouse and the tidy import of a shrine, this space (pictured on the album's back cover) consecrated his own imagination. He laid it out to maximize access to any and every tool in his arsenal, providing him a freedom to explore that he had never permitted himself to consummate before.

Within this cozy private universe, his recent purchase—the saxophone—assumed new meaning. It furnished a tangible connection to the black radicalism that mobilized free jazz, but also something far more personal. From a technical standpoint, the instrument was completely unfamiliar to him, yet rather than this being a hindrance to Sharif, his inexperience opened fruitful path forward, unencumbered by preconceptions. Resolving to shirk formal training, convention, and build his own understanding of it from scratch, allowed him to access his most raw, fundamental creative impulses. The Saxophone's inseverable bond with breath compounded this effect, echoing revelatory discoveries he had been making about breathing through yoga, research, and psychotherapy. Of course, the parallels with BLM's harrowing rallying cry—“I can't breathe”—were not lost on him either.

Water & Tools is a dense, contradictory statement with a blustery surface that shelters a soulful heart. It's generous music, exuding profound vulnerability—grappling with the loss of one his mothers, Lisa—all the while brimming with electric wide-eyed wonder. Almost every one of the nine pieces seems to carry some semblance of a groove, while remaining completely untethered from pulse. For Sharif, this collection is an expression of newfound lucidity, however for the listener his sonic concoctions act as powerful psychotropics. At points, there's a timelessness that's conveyed through the music's processional, ritualistic tenor, and yet there's an endless amount of wild, futuristic detail waiting to unspool at any given moment. Similarly, while this recording emerges from Sharif's private pilgrimage and personal emancipation, he also leaves room for collaboration. Woven throughout Sharif's one-man-ensemble textures, one finds Maxmilian Turnbull (of Badge Epoque, U.S. Girls, and Cosmic Range infamy) providing sundry keyboards and treatments, as well as his mixing skills.

Whether conjuring effusive psychedelia or plumbing introspective depths, the music that Jairus Sharif produces is singular, visceral, and wondrously unpredictable. Water & Tools sketches a raw, firsthand account of his nascent explorations within his own unbridled imagination.

Fire, A Calendar Of Ritual and Magical Songs,was the debut album from
the then new group on the folk scene
Originally from Hull, two sisters, Norma and Elaine (or 'Lal'), their brother, Mike
and cousin, John Harrison, had been singing family songs all their lives and as a
new folk group had been attracting attention for their powerful and exciting
performances. They were taken into the studio by Bill Leader to record an album
for Topic Records and what came out of the sessions was incredible. Frost and
Fire was essentially a concept album, the songs following the passage of the
year. It's effect was seismic, standing the folk scene on it's head and influencing
not just folkies but the ever growing and eclectic rock scene as well, particularly
Traffic whose magnificent "John Barleycorn Must Die" came directly from Frost
and Fire.
Sympathetically and carefully re- mastered from the original master and cut at
45rpm for optimal quality, the resulting sound on this new release of Frost and
Fire is nothing short of a revelation. Belying it's years, the power and sonority of
he voices hits the listener just as hard now as it did in 1965.

Starting where it all began, Toca opens with the group’s number 1 hit “Toca’s Miracle”, now a bonafide Ibiza club classic. The record also features further top 10 hits “Everytime You Need Me” and “You Are Alive”, plus bonus remixes from Above & Beyond & Inpetto.

Speaking of the release, Fragma’s Ramon Zenker says: “It’s a bit surreal that this is 20 years ago - time flies. I’m still proud of this album, and happy to have it available on vinyl for the first time.”

Following the Kota Motomura and Exterior debuts earlier this year, it’s another first from Hobbes Music. Maastricht Research is a brand new project from Scottish artist Jonathan Hunter producing ambient/drone style material. Jonathan was part of the quartet behind the much-loved Slabs Of The Tabernacle parties at Glasgow's now-legendary La Cheetah club back in the late 00s/early 10s. He's also one half of The Three Lives, whose debut EP, Mud & Flame and follow-up Across & Beyond were released recently by Glasgow's Full Dose label.

Written and recorded over a number of years, whilst living in Amsterdam, Glasgow and Dublin, the Maastricht Research vibe is about as horizontal as it gets and is the perfect soundtrack to long, lazy days and balmy eves in the park, by the pool, in the bath etc! There are zero beats. It's proper ambient / drone music and could well have been beamed in from another dimension, planet or century altogether, including field recordings, atmospheric fx, lush and eerie pads, with the occasional snatch of a weird vocal and generally other-worldly sounds.

The record owes a debt to the likes of Manuel Gottsching, Cluster, Susumu Yokota, Detroit Escalator Company, Astral Industries and Alessandro Cortini, among others…

Next on Extra Soul Perception, we're very proud to welcome a new artist to the label, Paddy Fred, with three tracks of antipodean psych soul for his 'Spells' 7".

Paddy Fred is a musician based on the south coast of Wellington, New Zealand, where he grew up. He's played guitar since he was a teen, and went on to study music performance, and toured with a number of bands throughout his twenties. When these bands dissolved in 2011, he began beat making and music production of his own, losing himself in the freedom of making music on his terms.

Inspired after hanging with Flying Lotus & the Brainfeeder crew and clubbing at Low End Theory in Los Angeles, Paddy created his first release, 'Laminate', which dropped in 2013; the same year Paddy entered fatherhood.

After emerging from the "survival zone" of the first five years of parenting, Paddy emerged a little lost, separated from the momentum of his musical career. There then followed a period of self-reflection. As he ran up and over the same coastal path repeatedly, he slowly but surely rekindled his passion for music making, and the work began again…

Paddy came to the attention of the Extra Soul Perception crew courtesy of fellow New Zealander, Mara TK (who provided the label's highly acclaimed 2021 album 'Bad Meditation'). When the guys heard the demos, they signed him on sight.

The lead track 'Spells' consists of big sludgy drums, a growling synth bass, ethereal guitars and spacey vocals, mixing the washed-out slow-mo beat construction of Toro Y Moi with the heady psychedelic soul of Tame Impala and Mildlife. On the flipside 'Found You' is a more tranquil affair, with languorous drums befitting DJ's Khruangbin rhythm section, whilst closer 'Kids' (digital only) offers a robust yet airy finish with an uptempo instrumental akin to the sound palette of late 00s Four Tet.

'Spells' is the first taste of Paddy's new material. Inspired by lost love, babies feet, social fatigue and universes held within rock-pools, this is Paddy Fred at his most true to self, and just a small sample of what's to come.

IRIS sind tot, lang lebe IRIS! Obwohl die beiden Protagonisten Andrew Sega und Reagan Jones seit Ende des letztes Jahres offiziell getrennte Wege eingeschlagen haben, müssen ihre zahlreiche Anhänger keineswegs die Köpfe hängen lassen.

Mit Einverständnis der Band, legen Dependent das längst vergriffene dritte Album "Wrath" in zwei speziellen Ausgaben neu auf. Dieses Highlight aus dem Werk von IRIS wird mit neuem Mastering erstmals als limitiertes 12" Vinyl mit verbessertem, hochaufgelöstem Cover-Artwork erscheinen. Außerdem kommt "Wrath" als limitiertes Doppel-CD Artbook heraus, welches neben dem remasterten Album eine exklusive 10-Track Bonus-CD, Live-Fotos und Liner-Notes von J. Ned Kirby (STROMKERN) und Dependent-Chef Stefan Herwig enthält.
J. Ned Kirby, der IRIS mehrmals live auf Tour unterstützt hat, erklärt die Gründe für die Wiederveröffentlich von "Wrath": "Jedes Album von Iris stellt für sich genommen ein Hauptseminar ein Sachen Songwriting und Produktion dar", schreibt der Amerikaner. Auf 'Wrath' fusionierten IRIS erstmals ihr prägnantes Sounddesign mit immer prominenter hörbaren Gitarren zu großartigen Songs. Dies ergab zusammen mit Reagan Jones markantem Gesang einen Shoegaze-Effekt, der IRIS weit aus der Masse beliebiger Synthpop-Acts herausgehoben hat. Mit der aufwändigen Neuveröffentlichung von "Wrath" zollen Dependent einem exzellenten Album Tribut, dass selbst nach 15 Jahren nichts von seiner ursprünglichen Faszination eingebüßt hat.

THERION have always been a band that have challenged themselves to explore new paths, while remaining true to their musical core values. For their 17th studio album, mastermind Christofer Johnsson and his collaborator Thomas Vikström have created something that has been previously unthinkable to the guitarist and the singer. "We have done the only thing that was left of all the different angles to explore", explains Christofer. "We have decided to give the people what they kept asking for. 'Leviathan' is the first album that we have deliberately packed with THERION hit songs."

True to the Swede's words, the album opens with the catchy and swift tune 'The Leaf Of The Oak Of Far' featuring female and male antiphonal singing as well as a choir that seems to have evolved straight out of THERION's breakthrough full-length "Theli" (1996). This is immediately followed by the obvious highlight 'Tuonela', in which Christofer cleverly underscores this hit-track's Finnish vibe by employing NIGHTWISH’s "metal voice" Marko Hietala. Next up in this parade of future fan-favourites is the title track 'Leviathan' that offers classic THERION material with operatic female vocals and a massive choir.

Christofer Johnsson's passion for classic voices, choirs, and orchestral elements as well as his penchant for epic melodies in combination with rock and metal shines clearly through the following sing-along ballad 'Die Wellen Der Zeit', which indicates another nod to German romantic composer Richard Wagner. "Ever since 'Theli', Wagner has been and will always be at the core of THERION", emphasises Christofer. "When we started to combine metal and opera, it was something new and original. Today, symphonic metal has long been a firmly established genre." When THERION came into being in 1988 by changing name from the already existing band BLITZKRIEG, which was founded a year earlier, Christofer had rather taken inspiration from SLAYER's "Reign In Blood" among other classic metal albums.

At the beginning, the Swedes were firmly rooted in death metal, a genre which they helped to define, as witnessed by their debut album "Of Darkness...." (1991). Yet even back then, there were hints of "something else" lurking beneath the rough surface. The use of female vocals is another core ingredient of THERION today, which developed gradually. CELTIC FROST had basically introduced the female element to extreme metal on "To Mega Therion" in 1985. THERION began with both a female and male vocalist emulating a church like choir already in their sophomore full-length 'Beyond Sanctorum' (1992). With Symphony "Masses: Ho Drakon Ho Megas" (1993) and "Lepaca Kliffoth" (1995), Christofer continued to developed his trademark sound by gradually drifting towards cleaner vocals and more keyboards.

With "Theli", the Swedes had firmly established a reputation of pushing the boundaries of metal in the 90s –among such acts as their compatriots TIAMAT, THE GATHERING, and MOONSPELL that were often referred to as "gothic metal" at the time. THERION continued to break new ground leaving inspiration for others to follow in their wake: On "A'arab Zaraq -Lucid Dreaming" (1997), Christofer further explored the use of Near Eastern music in metal which he had already begun in 1992, while "Secret Of The Runes" (2001) dared to have Swedish lyrics in some songs.

While critics were left confused and fans challenged, THERION were often ahead of their times and vindicated in hindsight. Even the band's 25th anniversary excursion "Les Fleurs Du Mal" has by now overcome the initial shock the album caused and is only beaten in terms of streaming by the classic "Vovin" (1998). When Christofer faced the question of where to go next after the dramatic "Beloved Antichrist" (2018) had finally fulfilled his musical mission, his answer is "Leviathan" named after a giant sea monster from Judeo-Christian myth that has roots in Babylonic lore: THERION have created a giant hit album –and for the first time in the history of the Swedes, their fans are not asked to explore something new, but simply to lean back and enjoy the best from their band!

"Insieme" erscheint als Doppel-Vinyl (180g) am 11. November bei Sony Classical.Auf der Bühne sind sie oft Rivalen, im wahren Leben verbindet Jonas Kaufmann und Ludovic Tézier eine enge Freundschaft. Nach zahlreichen gemeinsamen umjubelten Live-Auftritten erscheint das erste Duett-Album der beiden Ausnahmesänger: "Insieme", Italienisch für "Zusammen" ist der Titel. Mit dem hervorragenden Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia unter Antonio Pappano präsentieren sie Duette, die sie zusammen auf der Bühne gesungen haben, und Stücke, die sie extra für dieses Album einstudiert haben.Seit ihrem gemeinsamen "Werther", 2010 in Paris, sind sie immer wieder Bühnenpartner in verschiedenen Produktionen; und wie bei ihrem Duett-Album spielen die Werke Verdis dabei eine zentrale Rolle. Als sie 2013 an der Bayerischen Staatsoper zum ersten Mal die Rivalen in "La forza del destino" verkörperten, war sofort zu spüren: da haben sich zwei gefunden, die sich gegenseitig anfeuern. 2017 standen sie in Paris in der französischen Urfassung von Verdis "Don Carlos" auf der Bühne; da ist es nur logisch, dass das berühmte Duett von Carlos und Rodrigue auf ihrem Duett-Album in dieser Fassung erklingt. Hier sind sie einmal nicht die ewigen Widersacher, sondern echte Verbündete, in einer der schönsten Männerfreundschaften der Oper. Außerdem sind die beiden hier zum ersten Mal zusammen in "Otello" zu hören. Bei Kaufmanns Debüt als Otello, 2017 am Royal Opera House in London, sollte eigentlich Tézier an seiner Seite als Iago debütieren, doch leider musste er absagen. Und so kam es, dass die Aufnahmesitzungen während des Lockdowns 2021 zum ersten gemeinsamen "Otello" der beiden wurden, noch bevor Tézier seinen ersten Bühnen-Iago an der Wiener Staatsoper "nachholte". Dass mit Antonio Pappano am Pult seines Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia einer der profiliertesten Operndirigenten unserer Zeit mit seinem exzellenten Orchester an Bord ist, ist ein weiterer Glücksfall für diese Einspielung.Beide Sänger sind hier erstmals in den großen Duetten aus Verdis "Les vêpres siciliennes" zu erleben, in der selten gespielten französischen Fassung. Auch das Duett aus Ponchiellis Verismo-Meisterwerk "La Gioconda" ist ein echtes Doppel-Debüt, dem bald auch eine gemeinsame Aufführung der kompletten Oper folgen soll. Puccinis "La bohème" hingegen haben beide bereits auf der Bühne gesungen, jedoch noch nicht gemeinsam; hier sind sie zum ersten Mal gemeinsam mit dem Duett aus dem 4. Bild zu hören.

Wally ist schon ne coole Sau…macht Musik, die an Zeiten erinnert wo Rio Reiser, Westernhagen, Reichel, Extrabreit und co noch als deutscher Rock definiert wurden und liegt damit trotzdem im Hier und Jetzt genau richtig! Man könnte auch bitternötig sagen, denn Wally schafft es mit großer, ungehobelter Klappe, alltäglichen Stories und verdammt viel Rhythm, Rock, Folk Country und Blues ein Stückchen Musik einzufangen, dass auf Gepflogenheiten, Klischees und alles bevormundende "Helikopter-Vorsicht" scheisst. Für den Ausnahmemusiker, der auch bei Bonsai Kitten neue Impulse setzte und sich eigentlich in fast jedem "handmade"-Genre wohlfühlt ist das "Alles halb so wild"! Wally lässt einfach alles raus was ihm auf der Seele liegt. Ganz unskandalös oder auf irgendwelche Märkte schielend! Dabei hat er gerade erst mit seinee Vorab-Single Auskoppelung "Der böse Wolf" auf dem "Artists for Peace"-Charity Sampler für die Ukraine (Platz 3&6 der Charts) ein Riesenpublikum erreicht.Aber Nachplappern war eh nie sein Ding! Man kann auch anecken ohne groß zu Trommeln! Das ist mehr Punk (auch wenn er keinen spielt) als so mancher Iro darstellen möchte…erinnert mehr an the "The Boss" oder Brian Fallon/ Gaslight Anthem, als an die ganzen heutigen Deutschrock-Bands die an die Erfolge einer Frankfurter Band anklonen möchten und "pseudorebellisch" sind. Wally rockt einfach mit Texten aus dem Leben und kleinen Alltagsgeschichten, die durch seine Musik und Leidenschaft zu etwas ganz Großem werden!

NOTHING MORE kehren mit ihrem langerwarteten siebten Studioalbum SPIRITS zurück, das am 14. Oktober erscheinen wird. SPIRITS enthält 13 Songs, die musikalisch zu den bis dato fokussiertesten, abenteuerlichsten und intensivsten Werken der Band zählen, wobei introspektive, philosophische Texte mit ungeschminkten, wuchtigen Hymnen vereint werden. Hierzu zählen die bereits erschienenen Auskopplungen "TURN IT UP LIKE", sowie die neue Single "TIRED OF WINNING", die sich aktuell in den Top 10 der Billboard Active Rock Charts befindet. "Downpression" war ein weltweiter Erfolg und schaffte den Crossover vom Dancehall Reggae zur Hip Hop-Community in New York durch Afrika Bambaataa, der mit dem Song "Diseases" seine Mix-Kunst zelebrierte. Killing Zoe is a 1994 crime / bank heist film written, directed and produced by Roger Avary and co-produced by Quentin Tarantino. Killing Zoe follows the story of a safe cracker named Zed who returns to France to aid an old friend in performing a doomed bank heist. The film was labeled by acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert as “Generation X’s first bank caper movie”. After the production of Killing Zoe, Avary and Tarantino continued their collaboration and produced both the iconic award winning movie Pulp Fiction and several radio dialogues in Reservoir Dogs.

The score to Killing Zoe was produced by Tomandandy, aka Thomas Hajdu and Andy Milburn. This duo is best known for their horror scores like The Hills Have Eyes and The Strangers amongst others and many collaborations with great artists such as Lou Reed, David Byrne, U2 and Laurie Anderson.

Killing Zoe is available on vinyl for the first time as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on flaming coloured vinyl and includes an insert with liner notes.

Sechs Jahre sind seit ihrem letzten Album, "Big Black Coat" von 2016, vergangen. Waiting Game" zeigt die Produzenten Jeremy Greenspan und Matt Didemus in einer zärtlichen und kontemplativen Stimmung; eine Abwechslung zu ihren druckvollen, R&B-lastigen Dance-Melodien. Die zusätzlichen Musiker des Albums sind ebenfalls Kanadier: Caribou-Kollaborateur Colin Fisher spielt durchgehend Saxophon und Bonjay-Frontfrau Alanna Stuart singt neben Greenspan im Song "Yes 2". RESTLESS SPIRITs zweites Album, "Blood of the Old Gods", wurde vom bekannten US-Metal-Blog Invisible Oranges als "eine turboaufgeladene, allumfassende Extrapolation von Sabbath-Doom mit einem fiesen Charakter und einem absoluten Monopol auf rechtschaffene Riffs in allen Tempi, Formen und Größen" gelobt. Das US-Trio wagte auf diesem Album das Experiment, eine zusammenhängende Erzählung über die 39 Minuten alles zertrümmernde Schwere zu legen. Mit dem passenden Artwork des berühmten Pulp-Malers Frank Frazetta verwebt "Blood of the Old Gods" erhabene Klanglandschaften und eindringliche Momente zu einem bleibenden Eindruck. RESTLESS SPIRIT wurden erst im Jahr 2018 gegründet, doch das Trio aus Long Island, New York hat bereits zwei Alben und vier EPs auf dem Buckel. Obwohl sie Einflüsse von BLACK SABBATH über TYPE O NEGATIVE bis hin zu THE SWORD nennen, bahnte sich die Band ihren eigenen Weg durch den Untergrund der US Metal Szene. Mit wüsten Riffs, die sich in den Ohren wurmen, fühlen sich RESTLESS SPIRIT sowohl im Stoner Metal, aber auch in Doom und Sludge wohl. Dabei tauscht das Trio die strenge Gitarren-Fuzz-Diät gegen einen sehr abwechslungsreichen, melodischen Ansatz ein. Die Band konnte mit "Blood of the Old Gods" mittlerweile mehrmals auf Tour gehen und wird im Winter 2022/23 erneut auf den Bühnen stehen. RESTLESS SPIRIT arbeiten derzeit bereits hart an ihrem dritten Album, das im Jahr 2023 weltweit über Magnetic Eye Records erscheinen soll.

"Ich muss sagen, dass ich dies für den großen vergessenen Zyklus der Klaviermusik des 19. Jahrhunderts halte. Vielleicht sind das große Worte, aber ich empfinde das so", sagt der Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes über seine neueste Veröffentlichung bei Sony Classical. Auf diesem Album präsentiert er die umfangreichste Klaviersammlung des großen romantischen Komponisten Antonín Dvorák - die zu Unrecht vernachlässigten Poetischen Tonbilder. Dem norwegischen Pianisten zufolge zeigen diese unentdeckten Perlen eine ganz andere Seite des für seine Sinfonien und Streichquartette bekannten Komponisten. Ich liebe diese Musik und niemand scheint sie zu spielen", sagt Andsnes, der sich 2017 mit der Veröffentlichung "Sibelius" auch für die selten gespielten Klavierwerke von Jean Sibelius einsetzte. Die 13 Postkarten für Klavier, aus denen sich Dvoráks poetische Tonbilder zusammensetzen, wurden im Frühjahr 1889 geschrieben und signalisieren eine Stilverschiebung von einem Komponisten, der sich von formalen Konstruktionen weg zu einer freieren, inspirierten Ästhetik bewegt. Zu diesen bezaubernden Stücken gehören Beschwörungen von Magie und Geheimnissen ("Das alte Schloss"), ländliche Tänze ("Furiant" und "Bauernballade"), nostalgische Stimmungsstücke ("Dämmerungsweg") und tragische Reminiszenzen ("Am Grab eines Helden"). Zusammengestellt aus einer Flut von Material, das während der Pandemie geschrieben wurde, stellt "Lightwork" eine neue Ebene dar und wurde zu einer der zugänglichsten, aber dennoch ehrgeizigsten Veröffentlichungen seiner geschichtsträchtigen Karriere. Ein Projekt, das Devin schon seit seiner Teenagerzeit im Kopf hatte (und mit dem er während seiner gesamten Karriere geliebäugelt hat), ist ein melodischeres und direkteres Album mit einem großartigen Produzenten, der ihn bei der Arbeit unterstützt. Hier kommt Garth Richardson ins Spiel: Ein in Vancouver ansässiger Produzent mit einem langen Lebenslauf und ein langjähriger Freund von Devin. Und das Ziel? Etwas schönes, kathartisches, kraftvolles und klares zu schaffen. Ein Gefühl von Optimismus und Kraft in einer Zeit, die man gemeinhin als "deprimierend" bezeichnen kann. Es geht um Stärke, Liebe, Akzeptanz, Angst und gemeinsame Überwindung. Molly Lewis's compositions seem to float into our ears from distant shores. They're otherworldly, drawn more from landscapes of dream than from anywhere you could find on a map. Lewis is a unique presence in music today. Her trademark whistle, which brings to mind the great Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac, has graced recordings of everything from Schumann lieder and Brazilian jazz to Spaghetti Western ballads and noir lounge. Lewis's collaborations are diverse: La Femme, Sébastien Tellier and Dr. Dre. She's performed around the globe, at Shanghai's Yuz Museum, the Cannes Film Festival, Mexico City's Salón Los Angeles, and across the whole of New Zealand. Lewis's 2021 debut EP, The Forgotten Edge, was produced by Tom Brenneck (Charles Bradley, Amy Winehouse). It was a critical success, drawing praise from The New York Times and NPR, and landing Lewis a spot on CBS Sunday Morning. Now, Lewis and Brenneck have teamed up again for her second EP, Mirage, bringing aboard Brazilian guitarist Rogê, as well as percussionist Gibi Dos Santos and keyboardist Roger Manning. Capacious and atmospheric, Mirage is Lewis's most hypnotic effort yet. Like Eden's Island (1970) by eden ahbez_whose "Nature Boy" is covered in one of Mirage's standout moments_the album is based on Lewis's visions of an imaginary island. The lush, oceanic textures of Mirage transport us to the sands of an unknown beach_all alone or in the company we've always dreamt of keeping.

Das israelische Duo Lola Marsh releast mit „Shot Shot Cherry“ am 28.10.22 ihr drittes Studioalbum.
Lola Marsh besteht aus der Sängerin Yael Shoshana Cohen und Multi-Instrumentalist Gil Landau. Sie
komponieren Musik, die clevere Texte mit tiefgründigen Harmonien verbindet. 2016 veröffentlicht die IndiePop-Band ihre Debüt-EP „You’re Mine“, wodurch sie in kürzester Zeit international große Bekanntheit
erlangten. Im Sommer 2017 erschien ihr Debütalbum „Remember Roses“, dessen Singles „Sirens“ und
„You’re Mine“ es an die Spitze der Spotify Charts schaffen.
Auch in Hollywood ist das Duo gefragt. Ihre Songs wurden schon in zahlreichen Filmen und Serien benutzt,
darunter Kevin Costners Film „Criminal“, die Serien „Better Call Saul“ und „Station 19“, sowie den Netflix
Produktionen „Purple Hearts“ und „Atypical“.
Über das neue Album sagt Sängerin Yael Shoshanna Cohen: „We don’t have just one direction of emotion.
There will be sad songs, there will be up-tempo song, there will be the cinematic ones.”

2022 wäre Michel Legrand 90 Jahre alt geworden. Komponist, Dirigent, Pianist, Sänger, Regisseur:
Michel überwand die Grenzen zwischen Jazz, Symphonie, Singspiel und Popmusik. Als Musiklegende und
dreimaliger Oscar-Preisträger hinterließ Legrand ein produktives Werk mit Themen, die sich seit mehreren
Jahrzehnten im kollektiven Gedächtnis festgesetzt haben. Jetzt wird ihm von den weltbesten Komponisten
und Pianisten mit einer eleganten und zeitgenössischen Hommage für sein Lebenswerk gedankt.

Dieses Jahr feiert die Band das 40. Jubiläum ihres bahnbrechenden Albums „Shabooh Shoobah“ und
darum erscheint zur Feier am 28. Oktober das Live-Album „Shabooh Shoobah (Live At The US Festival /
1983)”.
Dieses Album ist bisher unveröffentlicht und enthält neun der zehn Songs, die auf dem Album „Shabooh
Shoobah“ erschienen sind. Tim Farriss sagt zu dem Album selbst: „ In many ways this show gives a great
insight into where we (INXS) were at then, it shows the exuberance we had and hints at the promise of
things to come.”

The Imperial Wonders are one of the finest vocal groups to come out of Cleveland Ohio. "Work of Art" has been remixed by Opolopo, Daft Funk, Pagger and Leo Zero from the original 80s multitrack tapes. Opolopo produces one of his trade marked boogie sensations that is exactly how the band had wanted it to sound in the first place, some proper 80s boogie vibe. New boys Pagger swaggers the groove with ease and panache. Daft Funk house it up some with deepness personified grooves. Leo Zero with some help from Des Morgan flips the song with a spaced out dub that rocks. One not to be missed.

Dieses ausgegrabene Matthew Dear Album wurde ursprünglich nach seinem gefeierten Album Asa Breed (2007) aufgenommen. Für Fans von Beck, Bill Callahan/Smog, Bibio. In erster Linie kennt man den gefragten texanischen DJ und Elektronikproduzenten Matthew Dear seit über zwanzig Jahren als Grenzgänger der Clubmusik, der nur im erweiterten Sinne als Popmusiker aktiv ist. Auf seinem 'neuen' Studioalbum überrascht der US-Musiker jetzt mit ungewöhnlichen Klängen. "Preacher's Sigh & Potion: Lost Album" wurde vor zehn Jahren aufgenommen, aber das Material nie veröffentlicht. Inspiriert vom Gitarrenspiel seines verstorbenen Vaters und klassischen Country-Folk-Favoriten wie Emmylou Harris, wendete Dear an, was er über Techno-Arrangements wusste, um einen organischen, loop-zentrierten Sound zu erforschen, der bluesig, persönlich und verspielt ist und die Geschichte von Pop und Rock, den Twang von Country, den Aufbau und das Loslassen von Techno durcheinander wirbelt.

Heading things up is the brand new Jimpster remix of Mistura featuring a tongue in cheek monologue from Canadian poet Jemini. Jimpster’s Jazz'd Up mix starts off stripped right back, based around a 303 bassline, it builds and builds and builds ending with a deep powerful version that satisfies both the soul and dance floor.

Backing this side up is Birdee’s euphoric, piano stomping, hands in the air remix of the ZR classic ‘Do What You Feel’ from 1991.

On the flip is Lakeshore Commission's latest floor burner ‘In 2 The Light’ featuring Bluey from Incognito. Shuffling Philly drums, soaring strings and a phunked out bass guitar make for a late night dancefloor heater.

Finishing off the 12” is the appearance of Destiny II’s ‘Play 2 Win’ on wax for the first time. It’s a serious menagerie of driving live bass, Prelude style boogie synths & the occasional vocoder. Add in anthemic vocals courtesy of Angela Johnson and you have one of the years most played new disco songs.

Oliver Johnson alias Dorian Concept veröffentlicht am 28. Oktober 2022 sein neues Album, „What We Do For Others“, auf Brainfeeder. Es ist das dritte Studioalbum des österreichischen Produzenten und Synthesizer-Experten, der für seine einzigartigen, wunderschön detaillierten Klangteppiche und wilden, gar euphorisierenden Live-Keyboard-Jam-Videos bekannt ist.
„What We Do For Others“ ist ein entspanntes, ruhiges, selbstbewusstes und intimes Album, das auf herrlich lockeren Arrangements und rückgekoppelten Klanglandschaften basiert und mit Fetzen seines eigenen verfremdeten Gesangs unterlegt ist, der eher als zusätzliche Instrumentierung denn als lyrische Phrasen präsentiert wird. Alle Elemente und Schichten wurden ohne Unterbrechungen aufgenommen und absichtlich nicht bearbeitet. „Ich glaube, deshalb hat diese Platte so etwas wie einen ‚Bandsound‘.“, erklärt Johnson. „Ich spiele alle Arten von Tasteninstrumenten, singe und benutze Effektgeräte, um diese freien Kompositionen zu schaffen.“ Der in Wien lebende Johnson ist ein fester Bestandteil der experimentellen Jazz-/ Elektronik-Szene, die im Umfeld von Brainfeeders Aushängeschild Flying Lotus floriert und sich diversifiziert hat. Mit frühen Veröffentlichungen auf dem Kindred Spirits-Label Nod Navigators und Affine Records spielte Johnson bei den ersten internationalen Label-Nächten von Brainfeeder im Jahr 2009 (Off-Sónar in Barcelona und die berüchtigte Hearn Street Car Park-Session in London) und bildete eine starke familiäre Bindung mit der Brainfeeder-Crew, die auf der gemeinsamen Liebe zu freaky Elektronik-Jazz-Fusion beruht. Johnson war an der Produktion von Thundercats „The Golden Age Of Apocalypse“ beteiligt, spielte die Tasten auf Flying Lotus' bahnbrechendem Album, „Cosmogramma“, und tourte mit den Live-Bands von FlyLo und The Cinematic Orchestra. Außerdem steuerte er die Tasten auf MF DOOMs „Lunchbreak“ bei, das von FlyLo und Thundercat produziert wurde. Kürzlich arbeitete er mit Kenny Beats an dessen Debütalbum, „Louie“, zusammen, wobei er bei drei Stücken die Tasten beisteuerte, und tat sich mit einem weiteren Pionier zukunftsorientierter Elektronik - Mark Pritchard - zusammen, um Musik für Damien Jalets zeitgenössische Tanzperformance, „Kites“, an der Göteborger Oper zu komponieren. Im Jahr 2020 arbeitete Oliver mit einem der weltweit führenden Ensembles für zeitgenössische Musik zusammen, dem Klangforum Wien, und komponierte ein Stück namens „Hyperopia“, das beim TRANSART Festival in Österreich aufgeführt wurde. Johnson veröffentlichte sein Debütalbum, „Joined Ends“, 2014 auf Ninja Tune, bevor er 2018 auf Brainfeeder landete, um „The Nature Of Imitation“ zu veröffentlichen: ein Album mit schwindelerregenden Partituren, kakophonischen Breakdowns und formidablen Rhythmen, von denen Pitchfork schwärmte: „Dorian Concept schafft etwas, das Elektro-Funk-Autoren der 70er und 80er Jahre wie Kraftwerk, George Clinton und Roger Troutman angedeutet haben: Computermusik, die den Funk unverhohlen imitiert, anstatt ihn nur zu faken.“.

Soul-Künstlerin Barbara Lynn zeigte mit diversen Soul Brother-Reissues ihre ungebrochene Popularität. Nach 'Movin' On A Groove', 'I'm A Good Woman' und 'I Don't Want A Playboy' erscheint das damals weniger bekannte 'Mellow Feeling' (1979), das aber gefragter denn je ist, dessen wenige Exemplare im Umlauf heute vierstellige Summen kosten. Sehr ungewöhnlich, dass eine so bekannte und verehrte Künstlerin eine so seltene Platte aufgenommen hat.

Es zirkulieren wenige LPs, die über die gesamte Albumlänge die Schönheit und Wärme des „Balearic Sound“ widerspiegeln. Man kann das auch dem Genre “Cosmic“ zuordnen. Arno E. Mathieu aus Südfrankreich schafft auf “Contemplation” das einzigartige flimmernde Licht des „Mediterranen“ einzufangen, und in einem modernen Sound die Stimmungen der Natur des Mittemeerraumes rüber zu bringen. Die Songtitel und das Cover Image ergänzen das abgerundete Stimmungsbild.

Es kommt nicht von Ungefähr, dass DJ Harvey großer Fan von Arno E Mathieu ist und viele seiner Tunes spielt. Wer auch in diesen Kosmos passt, ist Joe Claussell, der neben Franck Roger, I:Cube, Beanfield, Julien Jabre, Mark E, Simoncino, Woolfy, DJ Deep, Gigi Testa, Next Evidence, Max Essa jeder für sich einen tollen Remix abliefert. Fast jeder Track des Albums wurde geremixt.
