On Pedro Vian's second album, the now Amsterdam-based artist opens up a new sonic chapter of his life, running through depths of emotions and feelings, traversing moments of euphoria, fury, serenity, hope and love. Recorded between 2014 and 2018, the self titled LP opens with a melodic flourish, drops down through mournful vocal driven pieces and lands on fast moving synths across a set of 12 deeply personal tracks.

A follow up to Vian's 2016 acclaimed debut album 'Beautiful Things You Left Us For Memories' - supported by Pitchfork, RA, XLR8R, Ransom Note, The Quietus, NTS - this sophomore LP shows the breadth and maturity of Vian's sound, falling in between the cracks of downtempo electronica, ambient and post rock. Pedro discloses: 'I have tried to be sincere, transparent and pure. During the recording process I have avoided artificiality. I do not like the overproduction of music. I like to feel the naturalness and the essence of the beat of the instruments. I like to look inside until I find something real with which to communicate'.

'Pedro Vian' arrives on Vian's own Modern Obscure Music imprint, home to like-minded artists such as Jamal Moss, Gavin Russom, Tevo Howard, Ivy Barkakati, Eterna and Sau Poler. Vian initially cut his teeth in the Barcelona scene, first as part of the duo Aster with JMII on Hivern Discs and Jamal Moss' Mathematics then as a solo producer on his own Modern Obscure Music, MM Discos and Spring Theory.

Taken for the widely played and adored Lenny Williams Spark of Love Album, which was released during the Disco Era of 1976 and featured disco hits like, 'You got me Running', I still Reach and 'Midnight Girl' comes 'Changes.'

Edits and Overdubs Produced and Performed by Joaquin Joe Clausell; Changes is the tune that was mostly ignored from the extensive Lenny Williams music catalogue.
Similar to his past works where he chooses songs that are mostly un popular to the outside world but classics amongst himself and his siblings at home, Joaquin Joe Claussell takes this Jam that he used to groove to at home as a young teenager, lifts it out from obscurity and turns it into something that will sure be played by most DJ's who are into the Lenny Williams Sound, soulful disco and beyond.

Listed at a time length of (5:03) Joe cleverly up lifts this soulful disco composition and extends it to a time of (9:01). He achieves this, as usual, with respecting the original composition and with never anyself-masturbation. In the end, the results are a New Disco Classic that drives with relentless energy and enough soul for anyone who's seeking more soul that hailed mostly from the urban side of American disco music.

BENJAMIN FINGER, JAMES PLOTKIN and MIA ZABELKA craft a mesmerizing sonic world that buzzes and drones, glitches and slithers, eventually careening into unexplored musical territory.

"Pleasure-Voltage" was born in the mind (and studio) of BENJAMIN FINGER - a composer, electronic music producer, DJ, photographer and film-maker based in Oslo / Norway who in recent years has become quite a prolific artist, expanding his stylistic palette from piano miniatures and off-kilter pop experiments to lysergic, dream-like sound collages spiced with gentle warmth and sublime melody. These ingredients are also characteristic on this latest work where FINGER set the musical frame before passing it on to his inspired collaborators: MIA ZABELKA who for decades now has been involved in countless projects, be it as musician (violin / electronics), curator or founder of the international sound art centre klang.haus and who has worked with a.o. JOHN ZORN, FRED FRITH, ELECTRIC INDIGO, ROBIN RIMBAUD (SCANNER), DÄLEK or PHIL MINTON. And last but not least there's JAMES PLOTKIN who entered the scene with his first band OLD LADY DRIVERS (or OLD) on EARACHE in 1987 and later was a member of KHANATE (with a.o. STEPHEN O'MALLEY) while also exploring the areas of dark ambient and electronics by working with or remixing SCORN / MICK HARRIS, K.K: NULL and many more.

'For The Colleagues Of Ubu & Their Authorities' is the brainchild of Vienna based vinyl enthusiast, DJ & producer The Reboot Joy Confession. What once started as a series of mixes has been expanded into this compilation, on which he brings together diverse genres of music like electronica, modern minimalism, folk, post-rock, avant-garde or modular music, which also reflect his own versatile musical taste. 'As I stopped thinking in genres, my attempt was to merge my musical taste in the most fluent way possible onto one record. There are mesmerizing songs from some of my favourite contemporary artists - I feel a timelessness in their music, I can ´t get tired of. With the compilation I wanted to create a contemplative, fictitious, surreal world, merging those different styles together. Giving it that title, I wanted the listener to be able to imagine a tale that is building up with each song. I am really happy about the outcome of this compilation and hope that many other listeners can feel the magic.' The compilation includes the surreal work of Swiss producer Dim Grimm (also known as Dimlite), as well as a collaboration between Merz & Julian Sartorius Drum Ensemble who radically altered the original version of 'The Hunting Owl' into a monstrous percussive live version. Taken off the debut album from one of Poland ´s most interesting musicians at the moment, Waclaw Zimpel & Kuba Ziolek, 'Wrens' is a fusion of folk, jazz and modern minimal music. Experimental pop musician & filmmaker Tujiko Noriko appears with an emotional piece that challenges the paths between pop and avant-garde. Gerhard Zander, whose musical work started on the outskirts of experimental pop music in the early seventies in Germany, delivers a modular synth masterpiece with unique sounds, textures and a far-out synth choir. Rock and ambient influenced musician Helen Money (also known as Alison Chesley) is a Los Angeles based cellist and composer who appears with a massively dark post-rock song called 'MF', which was recorded at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio in Chicago in 2009. Often compared to Frank Zappa and known for their richness of ideas, Liverpool's a.P.A.t.T. contribute the hypnotic 'Young Free & Parasite', with references to British glam, post-punk or synth rock, but in a fresh and obscure sounding outfit. SSELLF, the moniker of New Zealand ´s Christoph El Truento, inspired by post-punk and noise. 'Visitors' is simple and simply in your face, with lo-fi drums, distorted synths and raw vocals by Christoph himself. After a few seclusive years, The Reboot Joy Confession returns with a new, crispy and soulful track. Cinematic strings written by Martin Riedler, arranged by Flip Phillip, and recorded at the established Vienna Konzerthaus, based on a properly arranged drum outfit and played by a villain named Gurlimu. Both strings and drums are guiding through the whole song and culminate in Glockenspiel and Rhodes melodies. Oceaneer aka Japanese pianist Oneechan Nanashi completes the compilation with her beautiful and profound composition 'The Sea, Forever'. She describes her music as 'improvised instrumental underwater music from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, played with broken instruments, directed by the spirit of drowned people who are talking through the hands of the pianist. It's lonely and bleak music for the dead.'

The initial versions of these tracks were quick jams that he had made early on in this change, but which had lay dormant on his hard drive for some time, before being revisited and reworked for this release with the new equipment.

'Rhythm Code' began life as an exercise in using only freely distributed software synths, and the majority of those sounds are still there, bar some additional acid sequences and tweaks to the rhythm parts.

On 'ZF Cut' his focus switched to samples, in an effort to squeeze the most he could out of his MPC, which at the time had only recently been upgraded. The unassuming beige box gives colour to anything you feed into it (breakbeats in particular), and a host of basic onboard effects add further quirky character, in this case hollow drones and rumbles which are the core of the track.

One of Kid Who's early purchases was a cheap old Yamaha multitrack cassette recorder, which presents many opportunities for sound manipulation. Different tape speeds, tape types and manual manipulation during playback open up a world of noisy, woozy atmospheres, some of which formed the basis of 'Spool Night'.

Of all four, 'Timescape' required the least revising, and the version presented here is very close to the original, 100% computer-based draft. Although the beat was built with Roland 707 drum machine sounds, a staple of early Chicago house records, he wanted to juxtapose these with a more up-to-date techno aesthetic, with a handful of final touches added in the new studio to finish

After a spell on the disco sidelines, Dublin label Fatty Fatty Phonographics are back with the 2nd instalment of their 'International Disco Mafia' series.

Extending its reach around Ireland and then again over the sea to Italy, it begins with a 13 minute disco trip by a young man called The Crown Prince of Waterford, with the wirey Catholic white boy spirit of Walter Gibbons in his veins.
The immortally titled 'Getting Fingered On The Waltzers' is overloaded with fizzing disco-rock dynamics, crazy organs and driving endless drum breaks that keep on pushing you all the way to an inevitable, gushing disco climax. Phew!

On the flip we have another Irish up and comer, Island Times, and his chunky disco driver 'Together'.
Just like his debut on the first volume, this one comes up trumps with a big, drum driven sound and a loose, live feel.

Last but not least, we're travelling up along the Adriatic from Trieste with Umberto Lumber, who takes a classic slow jam and pitches it down Baldelli style to a sweet cosmic sludge.

Records introducing the world to the bizarre minds of this fictional duo. The 12' was well received and

even been called the greatest cassette only rap album. In 2017 Diggers With Gratitude released the first of a
planned three part series of unreleased Baritone Tiplove material, recorded across the late 80's and early 90's.

Belgium DJ / Producer ED1999 kicks off the debut release for his newly minted 'Porpax' imprint with 'Melodius Hubbub, a 4-track EP of hypnotic dark Techno saturated with modular wizardry. The release confidently displays ED1999's production power as well as the serious direction the label is aimed at taking. The music featured clearly inspired by the energy found in Tbillisi, Berlin, Detroit and anywhere else heavy duty underground music is celebrated.

'Path Of Hope' is a punchy mover heavy on the reverb, with washes of metallic gray atmospherics floating in and out of the steady analogue drum patterns. The track grows in energy throughout with additional claps, hi hats and melodies generating an absolutely effective tension building weapon.

Title track 'Melodius Hubbub' is pure hypnotic Techno at its absolute finest. Black as midnight elements drive the energy to dark territories. ED1999's perfectly positioned sonic peaks and valleys of thick musical textures ensure the dancefloor never loses a moment getting lost in the incredibly positioned hypnosis of sound.

'Winding Course' is centered around a gurgling synth ride which gives the track an uneasy and twisted vibe throughout. Additional melodic effects join the main synth, adding a romantic sense of danger and dancefloor movement. Akin to ED1999's brilliant ability to keep his music restrained and effective for serious club-goers.

'Sleazy Nook' is the darkest of the dark tracks found on the release, with shudder inducing effects and ice cold soundscapes residing alongside the winding rhythms. A truly intense breakdown midway through the track generates a clever sense of sinking, with only the kick drum returning to keep people safe from going under.

Off the back of the highly conceptual project 'Plata - Last Dayz', Circadian Rhythms quickly return to focus on their white label series and solidify their signature sound. CRWL003 takes form of three club driven tracks from the arsenal of Leicester based producer R@ (Lewis Ireson). The 21 year old's current studies in Video Game Development have evidently started to seep into the ferocious sound that has drawn him attention.
His praised debut EP 'Neural' was released on Stella Beats in October 2018 and following his DJing debut at the CR003 Live event alongside Mssingno and Plata, he now continues this run with his first vinyl release, showcasing his signature production.

Reaper Recordings is a brand new label focusing on delivering a regular supply of second to none jungle and jungle related music.

Reaper is getting the ball rolling with the first in a series of 10' vinyl releases courtesy of Ghosty, who has released music under many different aliases for over 15 years. Presented here are two tracks of meticulously programmed hardcore jungle: modern production values and attention to detail whilst maintaining grit, dirt, warmth and weight. Both tracks have recently been road tested with great reception at various Jungle events around the UK.

Side A, 'Dead Already' is a low slung, bass driven, dark jungle workout with creeping, tape saturated arpeggios with powerful lows and aggressive, punchy percussion.

Side B, 'Forward' is a soul influenced, 94 style jungle track. Solid, deep sine basses hold down the chopped, steppy, dynamic drums.

Born Marian Himburg, Causa has been on the rise for several years now, with a tight and impressive discography on labels including Crucial Recordings, Infernal Sounds, and J:Kenzo's Artikal Music UK. Known for carefully focused cuts that marry dub sensibilities with dubstep weight, his debut for ZamZam is exactly what you'd hope: heavy 140 wares for deep dances.

'Space Dub' is an orbiting station of decaying delays and insistent bleeps that resolve into an absolutely massive riddim that causes pure murderation on the floor. Machine sounds and lasers spar over dread, lurching bass, while thick snares cut through the reverb haze to reveal the cold, starry cosmos beyond.
'Concrete Dub' works with a similarly industrial sound palette in the service of a minimalist, skanking steppers that drives hard into the heart of sound system. Disembodied voices, growling-deep horn stabs, a single piercing flute note, and a myriad of other sonic signifiers emerge and retreat, as if being pulled under by the unrelenting force of the primordial sub & kick attack. Duckett returns to Wisdom Teeth with another otherworldly four-tracker of melodic, trippin' house-n-techno. While recent outings on Berceuse Heroique and Solar Phenomena have showcased the more abstract edges of his sound, Corde Raide Vers Nulle Part comprises a collection of the Welsh producer's most melodious work to date. Throughout, the tracks are driven by snaking FM basslines, shimmering video game synths and tonal drums, creating a record that will appeal equally to fans of golden era Night Slugs, bleeping minimal techno, and the compositional electronica of labels like RVNG International and Latency.

The DW's second release comes from the UK talent Driven By Attraction. His peculiar, eclectic and intimate sound resume the label concept in the better way!

Pete 'Bassman' Bain, one of the founding members of the UK cult psych rock band Spacemen 3, formed Alpha Stone after Spacemen 3 and his other band The Darkside split up in the mid-nineties. In 1996 the band recorded the album 'Stereophonic Pop Art Music' and it was released on Bomp! Records on Compact Disc. The album hasn't had a 'proper' vinyl release until now, 2018, when Hoga Nord Rekords continues their collaboration with Pete Bassman by releasing the album.

You can clearly hear that Pete Bassman was the driving force behind Alpha Stone; fuzz, synthesiser -sweeps, programmed drums and processed vocals are the cornerstones in Alpha Stone's sound. Raga-like mantras, heard in Farmer C, lies track to track with more percussion driven grooves and psychedelic pop oriented songs. The album's sound has obviously survived the 20+ years shelved in obscurity and proves the 'Drugby' sound still vital!

It's always hard to sum up a bands particular sound in a few words, but you could say that if you put guitar and bass, synthesisers, a drum machine, and Julian Copes record collection in the hands of an alien, you've got Alpha Stone!

Celestial electronics are always at the heart of James Welsh's music, via a number releases for labels such as Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound, Wolf Music and Hypercolour. 'Hammers' is Welsh's second release for Futureboogie (following 2013's 'Craven' EP), and finds the UK based producer on particular fine form.
With its airy pads and shrouded ambience, 'Hammers' drives a 303 bass line right through its centre, perfectly balancing the tracks emotive and darker sides.
Hodge (Livity Sound/Hemlock) comes on board with an industrial sized remix, carving out some heavyweight tribal drums and additional percussion and letting the acid do its tweakable thing.
'Denergy' meanwhile channels some electro tinged bassline moves over super funky, tight drums, a flourishing acid line, and laced with the futurism and sound aesthetics that's keeping James Welsh at the top of his game.

A mutating arpeggiated bass and an ominous tone drive 'Cut My Hair' into a incongruously sci-fi dark dance netherworld. 'Temple' is classic Golden Filter, with modular bass blurbs, soft vocals, and an 808 beat doused in analog reverb. Dance music to sit in the corner and think to.

Italian directors GUALTIERO JACOPETTI and FRANCO PROSPERI gave birth to a whole new subgenre of 'non-fiction' exploitation movies with their 1962 hit MONDO CANE. After repeated accusations of forgery, unethical behaviors and war crimes, they decided to make a movie about the atrocities of American slavery as an apology of sorts. It was 1971 and the movie was FAREWELL UNCLE TOM (ADDIO ZIO TOM) The famous critic Roger Ebert called the result 'the most disgusting, contemptuous insult to decency ever to masquerade as a documentary' Naked flesh, voyeurism and violence is constantly used but gorgeous photography and a memorable score from Academy Award nominee RIZ ORTOLANI add a sickening slickness to it all: rock- beat tunes mixed with classic big band themes, waltz and funny marches and the beautiful OH MY LOVE, with the vocals from Katyna Ranieri, used, among many others by Winding Refn in his cult movie DRIVE (2011).

Since his recording debut as Choir Boy in 2016, Adam Klopp mined a sound swirls 1980s synth noir with captivating, cinematic songs sweeping with pensive sorrow and glowing hope. As a former member of the Mormon faith, Klopp spent his youth both in the pews of his place of worship, but also churning through DIY punk venues, before leaving the sect in the thick of a mission in Tahiti.

The duality of faith and fiction are central to the lush explorations on his debut album Passive With Desire. Recorded at Studio Studio Dada, the album's tracks permuted as bedroom sketches, awash with camp, the sting of loss, and allusions to halcyon days of nocturnal, electronic driven pop. Retaining elements of Klopp's original demos, Passive With Desire was recorded with a full band and polished with trumpet, strings, as well as archival samples calling back to Klopp's hazy youth.

Engineered by Klopp, Bret Meisenbach, and Stephen Cope, Passive With Desire is the entry point to Choir Boy's world of emotive wit, novella kissed lyricism, and bouncy, synth-forward takes on traditional song writing bound by the universal themes of loss, desire, evolution, and exploration.

Part II The title of the project is: "An Intermediary Plane of Existence", an in-between world, a shadow zone, two universes, the place between the entrance and exit of a portal. someone's mind, cut into a piece of vinyl, recorded on tape, converted into 0's and 1's hiding somewhere on a hard drive, a cloud, a CD or a USB stick. It's been taken form the place it was before it was made and stored in another place, in an intermediary plane of existence, waiting to be played, to come back to life and listened to again. We wanted to do this various artists album not with just any talented artist, but with people we've met the past years who became our friends and people we admire for their music and personalities. Friendship is also something that most of the time resides in an intermediary plane of existence. When a friend is not in the same room, city or even country it doesn't mean the friendship is not still there. If you've never even met
someone in person, it doesn't mean you can't be friends. Even if you haven't spoken to your friend for a long period of time, it doesn't mean the friendship doesn't exist anymore. The same goes for love I believe.
Some people you will never stop loving, alive, or dead. Both owners of P-RT-L lost their fathers within a week from each other last year, but I also know people who haven't seen or spoken to their dads or moms in over a year, yet somehow it feels completely different not seeing someone for a long time if you know a person is still alive, even though it's not sure you will ever see him or her again. Their dads went back to the place they were before they were born and they will never come back the way they knew them. Just like all music that went lost before we as humans had the ability to write it down, store it on a medium or pass it on otherwise. That exact music, just like their dads, is lost forever. I know this will probably sound a bit too philosophical for some of you readers, but it's something that keeps me awake at night, sometimes. This albums is a way for us to celebrate the fact that the music on it, will never be lost because we as humans have found a way to store and contain it in a place where we can easily reach it, for ever. With a touch of early Chicago House in the piano stabs, Georgio Moroder in the rhythm, the drive of Underworld and repetitive elements reminiscent of Field.

Detroit double label split release: Peter Croce's Rocksteady Disco and Blair French's Fat Finger Cosmic join forces to bring you ...For Todd. Topher Horn opens the release with the jazzy and conga-driven 'Photo For Todd', a midtempo cut for peak time. He follows with 'Chopped Rhodes', a downtempo beatdown cut, with Topher's own live Rhodes and Moog Sub 37 performance driving this track. On the flip BLKSHRK (aka Blair French + Eddie Logix) follow a similar formula with very different results. 'Swimming For Todd' is for the cosmic Balearic heads, and 'Ticket Stub' is for the most blunted of after hours. WAREHOUSE FIND, extremely limited numbers. Housed in a fully color jacket.

B-side 'El Boleta' is a totally freaked-out, uptempo merengue; a clever blend of subtle electronic drums, organic and hard-hitting percussions, psychedelic guitars and keys with the iconic ghostly tremolo and trippy reverb of seventies Peruvian cumbia.

Santo Sangre is a project by San Francisco-based artist, producer and DJ Gonzo Manuel. On its first release, Quetzal, perhaps a reference to the central-American bird with bright, ornate plumage Gonzo taps into a Latin-accented, tribal feel that is ably carried on rolling, syncopated percussion with an organic essence, a birdsong-like chant, sporadic and light bursts of actual song and haunting string chords that cut across the sound spectrum, adding dark energy and urgency to the track. This one will sit nicely out on its own, bringing a hybrid organic/robotic essence to the dance or would work equally well rinsed around in the mix, with all its elements appearing and disappearing at just the right time as a transition ascends and peaks.
Oakland producer Indy Nyles remix builds on the tribal theme by enhancing the syncopated aspect of the percussion. He augments this further with a pretty and drifting melody line composed of glassy keyboard sounds. The sense of drama this creates is boosted further by a breathy and repetitive voice sample. This concoction drives along nicely until around the 5 minute mark when Nyles drops a menacing, snaking thread of 303 bass, stabs of icey strings and echo and delay effects that amplify the shadowy, seductive allure of his remix. Its a new sounding track but the acid line and syncopation bring to mind some of the psychedelic, breakbeat classics of San Franciscos halcyon, rave era.

Elise Gargalikis take the track on a house journey that is, like Indys mix, brand new sounding but possessed by the spirits of the classics. Elises vocal flourishes bring to the mind the Latin house, tribalist dynamism of Louie Vega and Indias River Ocean numbers while Dmitri nudges the bassline from chunk and funk to acid and massive without sacrifcing the subtlety of the maneuver. The subtle aspect being that a techno, a tech-house and a straight up house heads will be able to bounce this one to the box without leaving her generic comfort zone: the true mark of a classic.
This release is a strong start for this new artist, look out for more fire from this Bay Area talent

Nicetraxuk hand over the production reins totally to Li'l Mark (Classic, MFF, Apollo) on this 12" and digital release. The ep starts off with 'Inevitable' which builds slowly with plenty of synth work over a tight driving beat. At its crescendoAthe deep bass synths take over and away we go! Flip the 12"A over to find 'F IT',A another bass driven tech track with a great vocal stab. Mark really turns it up a notch here to create an enormous sounding track, using all his years of knowledge and production to pull all the elements together to work together perfectly. This track has been causing serious damage on the dance floor when tested out! TheA12" isAconcluded in old school fashion with an acappella (or as he calls it Itapella) for the true DJs out there! SWINGTING017 is a bouncy JA-to-UK bashment banger that features a hefty combination of producers and vocalists from both the Equiknoxx & Swing Ting camps. The tune finds each artist at their most playful, riding the sparkly, jiggy riddim impeccably.

Jump to the Bar was built and voiced in two days at London Bridge's Red Bull Studios, late Summer 2017.

Day one involved Gavsborg , Time Cow , Platt & Samrai arriving from various residences of friends and family in the vicinity of the English Capital (shout to the Epsom crew). Alway early-birds, Gavs and Cow set to the task on various machines and available gear to construct the rough instrumental, with Platt & Samrai assisting on percussion and programming. Soon lush synths, tough kicks, flanged hats, grimy bass and snappy claps were combining neatly and the backdrop was set.

Day two featured Kingston's queen of the cool kids club Shanique Marie flying straight into the big smoke to lay down a witty hook in minutes before earning a lie down on the sofa. Original Brum-town don RTKal rolled in from the West-Midlands (driven by Farda Neeko) dropping a one-take freestyle (egged on by an excitable studio gathering including Randy Valentine, Mr Williamz & Specialist Moss) that later became his verse and the pre-chorus. With the clock ticking on the session, the flask was neatly passed to Mancunian stalwart Fox for the final flourish, giving shouts to buckfast tonic wine & organic herbal treats.

Supported by Toddla T (Coldest Record), Jubilee (BBC Radio 1 Residency), Chal Ravens (Top Flight), Max Glazer (Federation Sound Radio) as well as being added to Spotify's Dancehall Official Playlist.

This song has been a long time coming, but finally I am very proud to release this collaboration between myself, the mighty DJ Spinna (BBE, Rawkus), and Manchester's own Neo Soul songstress, Fyza. Originally we recorded it back in 2008, but this song never got released. The masters were lost in a multiple hard drive failure at my studio. Many years went by until recently I found an old drive which contained the original recording session from 2008. I contacted Vincent and Fyza and we decided to release the original version on a 7 inch vinyl, and to add a few new remixes for a digital package. Including one from Fyza's Son, Shontay. Sleep-deprived, breakbeat-driven vignettes of unclear authorship, from somewhere west of Lake Lagoda, near the Russia-Finland border.Sekundenschlaf has significant points of correspondence with contemporary European electronic music, as well as the golden age of (early) jungle and ambient techno. But its response to tradition, and to the zeitgeist, is idiosyncratic to say the least - with an atmosphere and psychogeography rooted in the tranquility and majesty of Western Russian nature, and the anxiety and distress of the country's post-Soviet working class. Pastoral calm meets dissonance and unease. The music has a loose, improvised feel, but its arrangements are intricate, its melodies iridescent: cascading arpeggios that stir a sense of optimism and renewal, sighing string-pads that evoke the deepest melancholy. Rhythms simultaneously hyped-up and burned-out, collapsing in on themselves as they race to destinations unknown. All bound together with field recordings of eavesdropped conversations, blurred into abstraction, a droning subliminal menace.Trust me, you'll be fine

For half a decade, Doncaster deejay Parly B has been a fixture of the UK and international sound system scene. His first album on Glasgow's Scotch Bonnet Records, Lyrics Spree, builds on 2016's EP 'This Is Digital'. Blessed with a voice as deep as Bounty Killer's, a crowing gimmick reminiscent of the great Dennis Alcapone and a bottomless bag of verbosity, Parly is the complete microphone talker. He rides a shopping trolley load of digital rhythms by likeminded producers - including Danny T & Tradesman, Stalawa, Interrupt and Mungo's Hi Fi - ranging from upbeat celebratory skanks to sweltering body winds. Tracks include the exuberant 80s vibes of the title tune, the brass-driven UK sound of You Mi A Look featuring fellow Mungo's mic man Charlie P, and the moody reality chant Skylark. Gonzo MDF is back on Counterweight with his 3rd Release and he does what he is known for and of course he does it pretty well and reckless. Tested on the crowd of their monthly Counterweight events you can be sure that this EP is a real dancefloor weapon. On the A side Fast Fast a hammering and driving track shows what this artist stands for. The Train is Leaving brings in some break beat drums that will drive any crowd pretty mad.

Cerdos on the B side with some really heavy synth lines does it's job incredibly well while Out of the Box is an ideal track to breathe some fresh air into the middle of any set.

Jonny Rock is somewhat of a sorcerer, an omnipresent eye that gathers secret ingredients from far and wide—old school House oddities, hypnotic melodies of the Orient, the furthest reaches of Disco, the easy pace of Turkish psychedelic funk—fusing it all into his own shrouded code, a string of immaterial messages, both subliminal and lucid, that highlight his eccentric sense of storytelling and nuance. He imbues a sense of familiarity in his music, implying history that might not be studied but still feels learned, a quality inherent to productions born from a vast catalog of influence (and the inseparable sample material). Jonny conjures euphoric acid flashbacks, herds of crowds through Istanbul alleys, the misty morning residue from raves of yore, orchestral winds blown across the Aegean riviera, and he manages to concentrate their essence into singular details such as a snare drum. Both sides of his eternally-awaited ESP debut lean toward his dark arts—'Tye Die Techno' drives a relentless hard-edged drum kit that could throw an otherwise self-respecting Goth into a heated breakdance battle, while the title track and theme, 'Ode To A Happening On Earth,' plays with the imagery of ritual, fantasy and role-playing—but throughout this malevolent stew, there is a sustained hint of the artist's playful nature. No matter how murky the trip becomes, Jonny is always there, a light at the end of the tunnel, with a big hug to reassure that everyone will be OK. He is one clever bastard—if you know, you know.

Dutch duo Abstract Division (aka Paul Boex and Dave Miller) present 'Aftermath EP', a four track package due *release date* on the eponymous imprint from Milan based collective Just This. Featured in the release are remixes from Peter Van Hoesen and VRIL. Title track is a subtle dancefloor killer with funky cyclic rhythms and peculiar harmonies, followed by 'Isolated', a subdued yet dizzying dose of syncopated drums and crystalline melodic inflections. For his interpretation of 'Isolated', VRIL mutates the stripped back hypnotism of the original into a maximal, angular workout, whilst Peter Van Hoesen focuses on the dizzying loops of the original, repurposing them into an immersive spiral of funk driven techno. 'Aftermath EP' fuses elements of ambient and soulful techno for an understated but powerful package.
