Bite the Day is a new Idjut Boys label imprint. We do an occasional London Party of the same name.....the concept is that there isn't one, musical anythingness and more often than not intending to involve collaborative collision with a hitlist of audio gymnasts whose talents can mask our lack of
said talent.

From the vaults of Idjut time past, Dominican Dolla Man delivered a lyric we thought boots some cold reality into today. The mighty Emperor Machine man was called upon to deliver his ministry of musical justice take. If you can figure out the words they are better than your average Christmas
rap song.

Shortly after Jay Dee’s younger brother Illa J’s solo debut was issued on Delicious Vinyl, the label and the artist knew the next step in honouring Jay Dee’s legacy was to issue the complete instrumentals from Yancey Boys as a stand-alone release. This mother lode of previously untouched (at the time) beats dates as far back as Jay Dee’s time working on the Pharcyde’s sophomore album, 1995’s Labcabincalifornia. As Delicious Vinyl owner Michael Ross explains, “From ‘95 through ’98 Jay Dee was my go-to guy for hot beats and remixes. He was always making beats, always. So there was a select amount of tracks that he composed for me during that time, tracks as good as anything he’d done, only they never got used.” Once these beats were used for Illa J’s Yancey Boys they were presented to the public on Yancey Boys Instrumentals.

'Ye Mele' is a very firm Mr Bongo favourite, and always a contender for end/start of the night track. A true classic.

Opens with a distinctive vocal harmony/chant and claps before dropping into bossa piano, organ and drums, which calms for a moment before reaching the chorus... and then building more into a horn section, that plays until the end. Immense.

'Berimbau'. And again - another favourite. Awe inspiring arrangement, of the highest order.

Opens with what is very reminiscent of a Brazilian Western soundtrack, before soaring into vocals, strings and horns. And then THAT end section...!

Golden Boys were a male vocal group, of brothers. 'Berimbau' is taken from their self-titled 1969 LP.

This is a repressing of their EP from 2018.

Rodeo Boys is what happens when the Miller High Life gets legs and starts walking around on its own. A rippin’ 4-piece from Lansing, MI is for queers and steers alike. Rodeo Boys shows up at your town, rolls up their sleeves, and gets to work to deliver their blue collar alt sound straight to your ears. They have been ripping rock n’ roll gigs since they formed in 2019 and After releasing their 2023 Album “Home Movies” on Don Giovanni Records, they have been steadily grinding away touring the US. They bring the nostalgia, twang, and punk rock rage of growing up in a small town to a city near you! This is how the Midwest was won.

By the mid-1970s, trumpeter Dennis Mpale was a consummate musician with an auspicious resume that located him at all the key turning points in the evolution of modern South African jazz. In his mid-20s, he led the trumpet section of Chris McGregor’s Castle Lager Big Band and participated in the ensemble’s landmark 1963 album Jazz/The African Sound. 1968 saw him recording I Remember Nick with The Soul Giants, which joined a wave of notable late-1960s releases, including The Mankunku Quartet’s Yakhal' Inkomo and The Chris Schilder Quintet’s Spring, that ignited the ambitions of South African jazz artists and producers in the 1970s. In 1975, Mpale co-founded the “rock jazz” ensemble Roots, inaugurating the era of jazz fusion in South Africa and opening the door for Pacific Express and Spirits Rejoice.

By 1977, Mpale had earned the right to an album of his own and, having participated in the 1975 recording of Abdullah Ibrahim’s African Herbs, turned to producer Rashid Vally of the As-Shams/The Sun label for his solo debut. Vally financed the project and seized an opportunity to license it to the local subsidiary of a major international label. As such, Our Boys Are Doing It was issued in South Africa on the Mercury label in 1977. Featuring saxophone heavyweight Kippie Moketsi, the album was a response to the global direction taken by trumpeter Hugh Masekela on The Boy's Doin' It in 1975. In contrast, seeped in the bump jive style of popular urban township music, Our Boys Are Doing It was a manifesto for an authentic, exuberant, homegrown variety of South African jazz.

Punk Slime Recordings are proud to present a new double A-sided split 7" which features the return of two of Sweden's most exciting acts Stockholm slacker pop project Magic Potion and Nora Karlsson's acclaimed lo-fi pop project Boys. The 7" features first tastes of both bands' upcoming records with Magic Potion contributing "Rest Yr Skull", their first piece of new music since last year's acclaimed debut lp Pink Gum, and Boys showcases their first ever studio recording from the long-awaited debut lp which is set to be released early next year.The split 7" is due on October 20, but expect to hear music sooner than that with "Rest Yr Skull" arriving in early September ahead of Magic Potion's EU tour supporting Chastity Belt.

Neuauflage 2024, Purple Vinyl! Die Destroy Boys aus Sacramento kombinieren Garage-Punk, Pop, Hardcore und Indie-Rock zu einem rohen, zukunftsweisenden kalifornischen Punk-Sound auf ihrem 2021er Album! Die Band wurde 2015 als Akustik-Duo von Alexia Roditis (Gitarre/Gesang) und Violet Mayugba (Gitarre/Gesang) gegründet, die eine breite Palette von Einflüssen anführen, darunter Misfits, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Dog Party, The Who, Lady Gaga und Bikini Kill. "Sorry Mom" (2017) ( on vinyl for the first time!) and "Make Room" (2018)- both albums will be available on black vinyl. DESTROY BOYS formed in 2015, when founding members Violet Mayugba and Alexia Roditis were just 15 years old, and each release has marked a period of growth and change. "Looking back, our first three albums marked the deaths of things," says guitarist Violet Mayugba. "They were soundtracks to our funerals, whether they were for our ages, our mental states. We"ve gone through a lot of changes as a band and as people." "The first one (Sorry, Mom) was our high school album," Mayugba explains. "On the second record (Make Room), we went to college and were saying goodbye to our childhood. On the third one, we"d just gone through COVID and, speaking for myself, I lost my entire sense of self and gained a new one." Now, at 24, Mayugba and Roditis are standing firmly on solid ground with more resolute and confident than ever in their place as musicians.
