Contained within are two harrowing demonstrations that drag on emptiness, anxiety, and abject pleasure. And though terse and severe, that very void becomes the vessel for its mottled meaning.

Unopen to exploration, 'ASMR for Suicidal Thoughts' locks the listener into its own saturated atmosphere. Stripped back and unchanging, and suffocatingly cold at the best of times, funereal melodies pepper cyclical noise so brittle it can barely repeat itself. Disturbingly intimate glints of memories are passed over out of reach, yet with the alarming immediacy of déjà vu. The sensation amounts to no more than this.

Sometimes artistic genius can be hiding in plain sight. Innovators and sonic pioneers that are stalwarts of the 140 dubstep scene can be taken for granted with just how damn good they are.

With DDD favourite Abstrakt Sonance’s second LP on the label ‘Nature of Things’, he is taking his organic fuelled, harmonically intuitive, bass driven madness to new heights.

With his signature blend of primitive percussion, scattered chops and savage sub frequencies - Abstrakt’s record is an 11 track tour-de-force of production mastery, impish tendency and true artistic expression.

To single out particular tunes on the album seems a fallacious exercise, given the strength in-depth of the sequence of work - with guest appearances scattered in from producers Wraz., Coltcuts and Outsider, alongside the stunning vocals of Sahala and bars from the godson of grime, Saskilla.

Let us just tell you that each one will have you flying through the jungle like tarzan on speed, with enough adrenaline to fend off any silverback gorilla and emotional guile to lead a troop of chimpanzees.

Existential musings over the Nature of Things can be confusing at best - but with Abstrakt Sonance it equates to sonic and visual clarity.

Careful though, he could still pop you with the Snipa.

In a flock of mediocrity, "Black Sheep" rips the fleece of expectations, gracing the sonic fields of raw, analog grit to stand out as the herder of the pack.

Refuting convention, Black Sheep delves into the grittier, grimier and harder side of bass - animating the grazing fields with imperfect yet immaculate rhythms, dangerously low yet guttural bass.

Unapologetically authentic and refuting any sense of normalcy - Rational Soul stretches the blade of grass to unrealised levels of authenticity with "Black Sheep".

A synthesiser sighs up and down the scale, a cool electro beat is wrapped in cotton wool and Fabian Drung aka JFR MOON sings about life in a bubble. "In a Bubble" is the name of this beautifully sentimental synth pop number, to which JFR Moon's new album owes its name. Although JFR MOON produces his music more professionally from album to album, the indie pop characterised by synthesizers and electro beats never seems too pleasing, remains unruly. Sometimes the pieces wander through curious psychedelic harmonies ("Silver"), sometimes they remind us of the Smiths ("Turn Around"), sometimes they stumble onto the dance floor ("Experience"). Blurred chords flit through "Stereo Tap", a yearning guitar melody wanders through "Ready", a nervous synth bass twitches through "Hun I Wish". Grooves meet echoing atmospheric sound textures. "I used to do folk where there was no rhythm at all," he says, "this time I wanted to write more uptempo songs, pay more attention to the drum machine." All tracks written and performed by JFR Moon. Stattdessen dachten sie: Lasst es uns noch einmal machen." The Universe Smiles Upon You ii" wurde vom 4. bis 6. Januar 2025 in derselben Familien-Scheune des Gitarristen Mark Speer aufgenommen, an denselben Tagen, an denen TUSUY vor zehn Jahren erstmals entstand. Obwohl die Bedingungen dieselben waren - Schmutzboden, brutal kalt, minimale Schalldämmung, alle Aufnahmen live - sind die Songs es nicht. Sie wurden neu angegangen, einige stärker verändert als andere, mit der eingefangenen Blitz-in-der-Flasche"-Energie des ursprünglichen Albums, während gleichzeitig entdeckt wurde, was diesmal einzigartig sein würde, in dieser Phase des Bandlebens. Das Ergebnis bewegt sich wie Wellen auf dem Wasser über zehn hypnotisierende Tracks, die Scheune erzeugt ein Gefühl von Weite, Gelassenheit und kreativer Freiheit, die nahegelegene Tierwelt ist hörbar (achtet auf die Vögel bei August Twelve ii"), ebenso das Knarren und Klappern der Scheune. Es ist ein Geflecht aus kleinen Bewegungen in nuancierten Arrangements, das langsam das neue Leben, die Geschichten und den Charakter von jemandem enthüllt, den man nach zehn Jahren wieder wie zum ersten Mal trifft.

“Erase Everything” is a journey through LA 2049 via London 1999 — as if Deckard were blasting an AWOL tape in his Spinner. Merging classic breaks and analogue saturation with soaring, cutting-edge pads and city-wide reverb, the result is both devastating and deeply thoughtful.

“Good Stuff” is inspired by a love of digging for samples across Jazz, Hip Hop, and Rock, and by a dedication to crafting kaleidoscopic soundscapes — All that good stuff, blended into one hallucinogenic trip.

Meeting at Islington Sixth Form College in 1996, Charlie (Fracture) and Nelson (Neptune) bonded over their deep love for the defining sound of London at the time — Jungle and Drum & Bass. Countless trips to Black Market Records in Soho, playing on pirate radio stations, and eventually, a makeshift bedroom studio — complete with an E-Mu ESI4000, a Mackie desk, and a few FX units — set the foundation for their journey. Their first release arrived in 2002 on Droppin’ Science, the label run by legendary Hardcore and Jungle pioneer — and fellow breakbeat manipulator — Danny Breaks. A run of mid-2000s releases on Ireland’s Bassbin, Paradox’s Outsider, and London’s Inperspective Records propelled Fracture & Neptune further into the cosmos. In 2009, they founded Astrophonica — initially as a home for their own music, but it quickly evolved into a hub for like-minded artists to experiment and explore freely. Almost 30 years on, they’re back in the studio with APHA034 — with more to come.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band is an 11-piece ensemble made up of guitarist-vocalist Susan Tedeschi's and guitarist Derek Trucks' band,
known for their unique mix of rock, blues, gospel, soul, and Americana. Their 2011 debut album won them the 2012 Grammy Award
for Best Blues Album and since then have released four more studio albums and three live albums, of which this is their first.

The songs on this album are compiled from recordings made on three tour dates in October 2011 and feature tunes from their debut
album rearranged, expanded, and extended in true jam band fashion. But, they never seem to resort to clichés; guitar prodigy
Derek Trucks introduces the bands’ hit “Midnight in Harlem” by an Indian raga played as a slide guitar solo, just to give an example.

Stevie Wonder’s “Uptight” furthermore showcases their love for soul and jazz. In short, as one reviewer put it succinctly:
“Everybody's Talkin' is what every live album should be: an accurate, exciting reflection of a hot band playing full-throttle.”

Project Pat, the older brother of Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J, is a legend in the Memphis rap scene. He began rapping in the 90s with Killa Klan Kaze and released several independent mixtapes. In 1999 he released his debut album Ghetty Green via Hypnotize Minds/Loud Records. In December of 2000, he released a new single and video “Chickenhead” which blew up on the charts and led to the release of his second album Mista Don’t Play: Everythangs Working. Mista Don’t Play produced by Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul and Juicy J was certified Gold a mere two months after its release.

Blue Note aufnahm, standen die drei Tenorsax-Giganten allesamt noch am Anfang ihrer Solokarriere. Das
Album, das zunächst den trockenen Titel “Johnny Griffn, Vol. 2” trug, bevor es unter dem treffenderen
Titel “A Blowing Session” neu aufgelegt wurde, ist laut AllMusic “eine der besten Hard-Bop-Jamsessions,
die je aufgenommen wurden”.

Als Rudy Van Gelder noch das kleine Tonstudio nutzte, das er sich im Haus seiner Eltern in Hackensack,
New Jersey, eingerichtet hatte, wich Blue Note für Aufnahmen mit größeren Ensembles eine Zeit lang
in den Ballsaal des Manhattan Towers Hotels in New York aus. Im August 1957 und im Februar 1958
schmiss Hammond-Organist Jimmy Smith dort mit zwei unterschiedlichen All-Star-Bands seine boppigbluesige “House Party”. Bei denselben Sessions entstanden auch die Aufnahmen für das Nachfolgealbum
“The Sermon!”.

The album is made up of two sessions recorded for BBC Radio 1 at Maida Vale Studios, from 1973 and 1978 that feature vocalist Norma Winstone, trumpeter Henry Lowther, saxophonists Art Themen, Tony Coe and Alan Wakeman, trombonist David Horler, bassists Dave Green and Jeff Clyne, and drummers Trevor Tomkins and John Marshall. The material, all composed by Garrick, includes some favourites from the classic LPs 'Troppo' and 'October Woman'. He wouldn't record the tracks "River Running" and "Galilee" until decades later, so this is the first time these '70s arrangements have been released. Whereas "Robin's Rest" and the title track are exclusive to this album - providing a fascinating insight into this uniquely talented artist.

Garrick was at the forefront of British jazz from the mid-1960s until his death in 2011 aged 78. He was a key member of The Don Rendell / Ian Carr Quintet, composing the jazz gems "Dusk Fire and "Black Marigolds" and released a series of seminal 1960s and 1970s LPs including 'Cold Mountain', 'The Heart is a Lotus' and 'Black Marigolds'. Remastered by Caspar Sutton-Jones @ Gearbox Records, 'Late Autumn Sunshine' is available as a 2LP set housed in a gatefold sleeve (a limited edition of 600 copies) and 'mini-LP' gatefold CD, with sleeve notes by Daniel Spicer (Jazzwise, The Wire). 'Late Autumn Sunshine' celebrates Michael Garrick's memory and should introduce him to many new fans.

Featuring 10 of his own compositions, Grossi's renowned virtuosity flows with deep sensitivity through various genres, reflecting the solid trajectory of one of the greatest instrumentalists and most creative musicians in Brazilian music. Collaborating with prominent names from both the national and international music scenes, 'Plural' showcases Grossi's music without borders, offering the world a glimpse of his extensive career. For this celebration, outstanding guests were invited to join the musical journey. Several tracks also highlight Grossi's sensitivity as a songwriter and lyricist. In 'Onde Nascem as Ondas', Ed Motta delivers a soulful ballad carried by his distinctive timbre. Zelia Duncan, sings a unique samba in 'Nosso Amor Vadio' with a captivating cadence. 'Chamego no Salao' captures the spirit of north-eastern Brazil and is brought to life by Lenine's vibrant voice and joyful interpretation, adding a playful tone with a jazzy touch. The art of improvisation is beautifully represented by 'Catarina e Teresa', an improvised composition created in collaboration with the legendary Hermeto Pascoal and dedicated to Grossi's twin daughters. Other tracks include 'Banzo', which showcases a rhythmic dialogue featuring Cuban pianist Omar Sosa. 'Motion', with the brilliance of both Jacob Collier and Seamus Blake, merges jazz and pop in a seamless melodic conversation.

With an open mind and without boundaries, he invites us to explore a vast musical universe, embracing art with profound emotion and passion. This is what you will hear and experience in 'Plural': a deep love for the art of sound and a profound respect for musical diversity - qualities that have defined his career.

Following his bold 1983 solo debut 'Walk Into Light', Ian Anderson - the legendary flautist, songwriter & frontman of Jethro Tull - returned in 1995 with 'Divinities: Twelve Dances With God', a richly textured & wholly instrumental work that showcased a different side of his musical imagination. A sweeping, genre- defying suite in twelve parts, 'Divinities' draws deeply on Anderson's lifelong love of classical music, world traditions & pastoral folk. Conceived as a continuous orchestral journey, the album weaves influences from Celtic airs & Middle Eastern motifs to Indian ragas & Baroque counterpoint, all anchored by Anderson's unmistakable flute.

The result is one of his most ambitious & evocative projects - a spiritual, cinematic exploration of faith, nature & the divine. Now 'Divinities: Twelve Dances With God' returns to vinyl in a stunning half- speed remastered edition, expertly mastered by Grammy-winning engineer John Webber at London's AIR Studios using audio sourced from the original tapes. Pressed on black vinyl & housed in a faithful reproduction of the original artwork, this new edition stands as the most detailed & dynamic presentation of the album to date. Lisbon-based duo Garoa—formed by Brazilian musicians Raphael Soares (drums, percussion) and Henrique Dias (piano, synthesizer, guitar, percussion)—craft an evocative soundscape that merges Afro-Brazilian rhythms with ambient textures. Their latest release, recorded in May 2024 at Estúdio Fetra, presents a free-flowing exploration where harmonies and rhythms unfold organically, avoiding rigid structures and embracing improvisation full time.

The album’s compositions are anchored by the interplay between Soares’ fluid percussion and Dias’ expansive harmonic approach. Tracks like “A Sandália Quadrada de Lampião” and “Xaxado de Chicago” weave percussive patterns reminiscent of Brazil’s Nordeste, blending them seamlessly with atmospheric synthesizers. “Baião de 2” and “Farofa e Cachaça” carry the unmistakable swing of Brazilian traditional forms, reinterpreted through Garoa’s lens of modernity and free flowing spontaneity.

Produced and mixed by Kellzo, the album captures the spirit of a collaboration that thrives on fluidity and openness. Garoa doesn’t aim for definitive statements; instead, they invite the listener into an evolving sonic landscape, where tradition and experimentation walk hand in hand.
