International dance music heavyweight, producer and DJ Alexander Lay-Far returns with a powerful new chapter - Lay-Far Dance Orchestra (LFDO) - a fully-fledged live band project that reconnects him with his jazz-funk and fusion DNA while pushing dance music forward with unmistakable groove, musicianship and emotional weight. Formed in early 2024, LFDO is no nostalgia exercise. With Lay-Far at the helm as bassist, bandleader, composer, arranger and sound engineer, the orchestra has already been turning heads with explosive live performances, reinventing classic Lay-Far cuts, and now unveil their first album “Skybreak” with all new and original material written and produced by Lay-Far together with his bandmates and star guests, including Lipelis, Antoha MC and Seven Davis Jr. This work shows the departure from the predominantly electronic sound of Lay-Far's previous solo albums in favour of live instrumentation recorded to analogue tape and effortlessly bridging the gap between Jazz, Library Music, Disco-Funk, House, Broken Beat and Drum’n’Bass. “Skybreak” is dynamic, passionate, spiritual, cinematic, playful, heartfelt, life-affirming, dreamy and deeply romantic. Ultimately, there’s something profoundly romantic in recording and releasing such music in this day and age!


“Take Flight (Part 1)” is opening the album with style. It takes us on a beautifully orchestrated journey, blending the sensuality of Library Music with high-octane Jazz-Funk and raw b-boy breaks, propelled by breathtaking flute and Rhodes solos of Timur Nekrasov and Maxim Glonti. This aural symbiosis of “beauty and the beats” will become more and more prominent as the album unfolds.



It’s time for “Aquarius Love” created with the inimitable artist and vocalist Seven Davis Jr. (Secret Angels, Ninja Tune). In this composition cinematic soul and heavy jazz meet the restless energy of live drum & bass with deep and heartfelt vocals - timeless sound combined with a timeless message about love and life!



Next is “Head In The Clouds” - a theme for an imaginary rom-com, an ode to all the dreamers - sweet, light, naive and heartwarming. Space-Disco-Funk at its best!

“Where You From” is a fiery Soulful House number with heavy Afro-Latin influences recorded in collaboration with Lipelis. It’s full of Sun, joy and passion. Its irresistible rhythm is emphasised by funky octave bass, wah-wah guitar, catchy piano riffs, guitar solo by Lipelis and seemingly light conscious message delivered by Lay-Far and Maryag. Summer is here!

Now the album takes an unexpected twist in the form of “The Harp of Boom” which at first glance appears to be a classic-sounding Boom-Bap banger. Yes, It’s loud, raw, and gritty, yet it gradually evolves into something delicately-touching and deeply-soulful thanks to a memorable flute melody and lush string arrangement. Definitely recorded with tongue in cheek.


Next is “Feel The Moment” a remarkable collaboration with one of the most recognisable and distinctive Russian artists, singer, trumpeter and cultural icon Antoha MC. It’s a feel-good song, hopeful, life-affirming and bittersweet. A stylish excursion into Brit-Funk and Soviet Jazz-Fusion sound, drawing inspiration from the likes of Atmosfear, Light Of The World or Soviet Jazz bands like Allegro and Arsenal, but reimagining the influences through the modern West London broken beat lens.


The spectacular music journey continuous with “Take Flight (Part 2)” - it’s all about the deep infectious jazz-funk groove, heavy beats, rolling percussion and the glory of the soloing instruments - saxophone and flute by Timur Nekrasov, demonstrating the wide range of emotions from thoughtful and lyrical to restless and borderline vicious. One for freestyle dancing!

As the album draws to an end a vibrant musical triptych “Soul Constant” awaits, mixing together the deep and sensual mood of spiritual jazz with heavy syncopated drum’n’bass rhythms by Michail Fotchenkov, lush orchestration, expressive saxophone solos and the ending which can simply be described as “aural bliss”. It’s breath-taking!

A pleasant bonus is the exclusive version of “Where You From” by Lipelis himself, who is taking it into dub territories, further enhancing the rhythm section and enriching the song with his trademark playful synth flourishes and dreamy guitar solos for maximum effect (and appeal).

Colored Vinyl. The Gaia II Space Corps ist ein Album, das nicht ganz nach Heavy Metal oder Hard Rock klingt, aber eindeutig die Qualitäten dieser Genres aufgreift. Es ist Post-Psychedelic und Pre-Metal und nah an einem echten Classic-Hard-Rock-Album, zumindest so nah die Band Motorpsycho diesem jemals kommen wird. The Gaia II Space Corps ist ein kurzes, knappes, eingängiges und mitreißendes Album, das dort anknüpft, wo die Tracks Stanley und The Comeback vom letzten Album aufgehört haben. Die Instrumentierung besteht größtenteils aus Gitarren, Gitarren und noch mehr Gitarren, doch es gibt auch eine ganze Menge Gesang sowie gelegentlich den einen oder anderen Keyboard-Sound. Vor allem aber ist es Gitarrenmusik, die _ nun ja, rockt! Und zwar heftig!!

Wer ist Born At Midnite und warum sollte dich das interessieren? Born At Midnite sind keine gewöhnlichen Drag-and-Drop-Produzenten, sondern eine vertikal integrierte Songmaschine. Mit Samplern, künstlichen Drums, Tonbandgeräten und hauseigenem Artwork, alles im Homeoffice-Tempo; seit einem halben Jahrzehnt steuert das Duo aus Montreal ganz lässig auf den Status der ,coolsten Band der Szene" zu. Indem sie den allgegenwärtigen Narzissmus und die Selbstverliebtheit unserer Zeit ausspielen - und sich gleichzeitig darüber lustig machen -, flicken die Jungs eine Art ungesponserten ,Product-Placement-Punk" zusammen. Also sag mir, was hat es mit ihrem Debütalbum auf sich? Was ist das Gegenteil eines Wunsches, der mit einem schrecklichen Fluch einhergeht? Chad R. Matheny veröffentlicht seit 1998 exzentrische, textlich dichte Underground-Popmusik, oft unter dem Namen Emperor X. Nach seinem Studium der Physik, Philosophie und Musikkomposition legte Matheny eine Pause von der akademischen Arbeit ein und verbrachte einen Großteil der letzten zwei Jahrzehnte damit, die Welt mit Bussen und Hochgeschwindigkeitszügen zu durchqueren, um an Orten Musik zu machen, die von einem kleinen, aber vollbesetzten Konzertsaal in Portugal über eine leere Messehalle im Norden des Libanon bis hin zu buchstäblich unterirdischen Metal-Bars in der ganzen Ukraine reichten. Er tourt oft allein mit Gitarre und Synthesizer, teilt sich aber manchmal die Bühne mit Weggefährten wie Ratboys, The Hotelier, The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Foxing, AJJ, The Front Bottoms und Xiu Xiu. Er produzierte das neue Brian-Sella-Album ,Well I Mean", war Co-Produzent des Sub-Pop-Albums ,Bits" der Jangle-Punk-Legenden Oxford Collapse zusammen mit Eric Topalski von Don Caballero und Storm & Stress und komponierte Videoundermusik für gemeinnützige Organisationen wie Planned Parenthood und SEIU. In den Jahren 2011 und 2012 wurde Mathenys Ambient-Werk ,Keeling Curve" in einer Multimedia-Installation des Fotografen Joel Sternfeld verwendet, die im Rahmen einer Retrospektive im Museum Folkwang zu sehen war.

Während sich die Songs entwickelten, entdeckte Lavers, dass der Satz eine tiefere Nuance hatte und eine Spannung zwischen Gewissheit und Zweifel hervorrief, die seine Psyche beschäftigte. Wird dein Tag kommen? Wie wird er sein? Wie kannst du dir sicher sein? Während er das Album schrieb, hatten Lavers' Gedanken mehr Raum, um in seinem Kopf herumzuschwirren und sich zu verdrehen, und er fühlte sich oft abgestumpft von einer Welt, die sich absurd grausam anfühlen kann. Die zweite Inkarnation von Your Day Will Come dokumentiert eine klangliche Verschiebung und Weiterentwicklung des Chanel-Beads-Sounds. Dieses Mal ist alles stärker geschichtet, mit mehr eigenständigen Parts und Mitwirkenden. Es entstand in seinem kleinen, spärlich eingerichteten Studio in Brooklyn, wo die Lautsprecher so nah an seinem Gesicht standen, dass er bei jedem Schlag der Bassdrum die Luftwelle spüren konnte. Mark Jenkin, der BAFTA-preisgekrönte Regisseur, Editor, Drehbuchautor, Kameramann und Musiker, präsentiert auf Invada Records den Score zu seinem neuen Film Rose of Nevada. Das Album erscheint auf einfarbig gelbem Vinyl und enthält ein beidseitig bedrucktes 12"-Inlay. Jenkin nimmt unter britischen Spielfilmregisseuren eine Sonderstellung ein - nicht zuletzt durch seine analoge Arbeitsweise: Alle drei seiner Spielfilme wurden auf 16mm mit einer mechanischen Bolex-Kamera gedreht. Neben seinen vielfältigen Rollen als Autor, Regisseur, Kameramann und Editor zeichnet er erneut auch für das Sounddesign und die Komposition der Originalmusik verantwortlich. Der neue Score spiegelt die im Film angewandten Techniken wider: Analoge Synthesizer ziehen die Hörerinnen und Hörer in nebelhafte, hypnotische Klanglandschaften und feine, subtile Bewegungen hinein. Komponiert, produziert, aufgenommen und eingespielt von Mark Jenkin - unter Verwendung von Synthesizern, Gitarre, Percussion sowie Loops und Effekten - erinnern die Field Recordings an den Kontext, in dem die Musik ursprünglich entstanden ist. Während der Score zwischen ruhigen, ambienten Klangmeeren und aufbrausenden Stürmen oszilliert, behauptet er zugleich seine Wirkung als kraftvolles, eigenständiges Werk. Die physische Veröffentlichung des Scores folgt auf Jenkins dritten Spielfilm: Rose of Nevada, ein Zeitreise-Film, startet am 24. April in den Kinos in Großbritannien und Irland, gefolgt von einer Veröffentlichung auf BFI Blu-ray sowie auf dem BFI Player im Sommer.

,Future Development" ist das dritte Album von Del The Funky Homosapien und war nach seinem Weggang vom Major-Label Elektra sein erstes Solo-Album für sein Independent-Label Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. Ursprünglich 1997 auf Kassette veröffentlicht und später 2002 auf CD und Vinyl neu aufgelegt, stützte sich das Album größtenteils auf Dels eigene Produktion sowie Beiträge von Hiero Crew-Mitgliedern A-Plus, Opio und Toure. Der einzige Gastbeitrag auf dem Album stammt von Crew-Mitglied Casual, der Del auf dem energetischen ,Checking Out The Rivalry" begleitet. Klanglich schlägt ,Future Development" eine Brücke zwischen den funklastigen Stilen von Dels Debüt und den dunkleren, futuristischeren Texturen, die er auf ,No Need for Alarm" erkundete. Textlich verfeinert Del sein rasantes Wortspiel mit einer schärferen thematischen Ausrichtung und beschäftigt sich mit dem Leben in Oakland, gesellschaftlichen Beobachtungen und der Hip-Hop-Kultur - alles mit einer Mischung aus Humor, straßenkluger Einsicht und mehrsilbiger Gewandtheit. Letztendlich fängt das Album einen Schnappschuss seiner Entwicklung vom rohen Talent zu einem konzeptionell gereifteren Songwriter ein. Es bleibt ein bedeutendes und unterschätztes Kapitel in Dels Entwicklung, das die frühen Keime der Kreativität und Unabhängigkeit zeigt, die einen Großteil seiner weiteren Karriere prägen sollten.

GRAMMY-prämierte Rap-Ikone Nas und DJ Premier – zwei der einflussreichsten und angesehensten Persönlichkeiten der Hip-Hop-Geschichte – veröffentlichten ihr mit Spannung erwartetes Kollaborationsalbum „Light-Years“ am 12. Dezember digital über Mass Appeal Nach den limitierten Day Ones Editionen gibt es nun die regulären Editionen mit Artwork, ab 20. Februar 2026.

Nach jahrzehntelanger Vorfreude ist „Light-Years“ die Wiedergeburt einer 30-jährigen Zusammenarbeit. Die Partnerschaft von Nas und DJ Premier ist tief in der DNA des Hip-Hop verwurzelt. Ihre Geschichte begann 1994 mit „Illmatic“, das Hits wie „N.Y. State Of Mind“, „Memory Lane“ und „Represent“ hervorbrachte. „Illmatic“ etablierte Nas als Ausnahmetalent und festigte Premiers damals aufstrebende Karriere. Ihre musikalische Chemie vertiefte sich im Laufe des folgenden Jahrzehnts durch Klassiker wie „I Gave You Power“, „2nd Childhood“, „Nas Is Like“ und „N.Y. State Of Mind Pt. II“.

Angeführt von Mass Appeals bahnbrechender Reihe „Legend Has It…“, die einige der wichtigsten und einflussreichsten Hip-Hop-Künstler aller Zeiten feiert und ins Rampenlicht rückt, präsentierte die Reihe ein ganzes Jahr lang historische Veröffentlichungen von Kultur prägenden Künstlern wie Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Big L und De La Soul. Mit „Light-Years“ liefern Nas und DJ Premier den krönenden Abschluss dieser legendären Reihe, in der ihre unbestreitbare Synergie nach wie vor einzigartig ist.

2006 zierten Nas und DJ Premier das Cover des Scratch Magazine und kündigten ein gemeinsames Projekt an, das die Begeisterung der Fans erneut entfachte und die zwei Jahrzehnte währende Vorfreude beflügelte. Pop Vampires Cologne will kick things off; their surrealist debut masterpiece, Karianne, was already released at Total 25 last year. PVC lives up to its name. Like vampires, oskø and Wassermann once again sample their way through the pop supermarket of unlimited possibilities.
Almost overnight, in their illegal, digital garage, they clone hybrid sound structures, saturated with both foreign and self-injected blood doping. Forbidden fruit is known to taste the best. Consciously, explicitly, and provocatively, PVC explores sampling as an indispensable stylistic device, a universal tool for quotation and pop networking. Equally daring and respectfully irreverent, they oppose the new, all-disenchanting AI search engines on the internet with the freedom of art. The rest is surrealism. Just like the accompanying video, which isn't a video in the conventional sense, but rather a kind of making-of with Sabine as the main front character. Ebenso wagemutig wie respektvoll respektlos, halten sie den neuen, alles entzaubernden K.I. Suchmaschinen im Netz die Freiheit der Kunst entgegen. Der Rest ist Surrealismus. So wie das dazugehörige Video kein Video im herkömmlichen Sinne ist, sondern eine Art Making Off mit Sabine als Frontdarstellerin. Mit Robot feiert Caravan Palace den zehnten Geburtstag eines Albums, das den Electro-Swing neu definiert hat. Turn On The Sunlight is the long-running project of Texas-born, Maui-based musician and producer Jesse Peterson.

Originally formed in New York in the late 2000s, Turn On The Sunlight has evolved into a fluid, location-spanning practice rooted in collaboration, intuition and process. Now based on Maui, Peterson’s work draws together a wide network of musicians and environments, with recordings taking shape across Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, San Miguel de Allende and Haʻikū.

Loosely situated within a framework of organic, ambient-leaning jazz, 'Iseo' unfolds as a series of open, exploratory pieces, with electronics sitting subtly beneath acoustic and environmental elements. Built from layered instrumentation including synthesizers, guitar, zither, flutes, voice and field recordings, Peterson moves between grounded, tactile detail and more expansive, immersive states. A sense of warmth and permeability runs throughout: organic percussion, environmental textures and drifting rhythmic elements lend the record a gently saturated humidity, reflecting Peterson’s base in Hawaii, where the presence of nature is felt as much as it is heard.

Underlying the project is a way of working rooted in gathering, listening and tending. Instruments, ensemble sessions, field recordings and everyday environments are approached with attentiveness, shaped through collecting, refining and allowing things to settle. Relationships, landscape and lived experience shape the sound, giving 'Iseo' a tactile, almost hand-made quality.

Rather than fixed arrangements, the album feels as if it has been organically and lovingly assembled through a process of listening and response, each element finding its place within a wider, evolving whole. This approach reaches a natural centre point in the 15-minute piece 'Medianoche En La Calle Aurora', which unfolds patiently, bending through shifting environments as motifs and textures emerge and dissolve with quiet continuity.

Peterson’s role as both instigator and facilitator is central to the project. Bringing together a diverse group of collaborators including Carlos Niño, Mia Doi Todd, Laraaji, Ko Ishikawa, Luis Pérez Ixoneztli and Miles Spilsbury, he creates space for individual voices to emerge within a shared language. The result is a music defined by openness and generosity.

'Iseo' takes its title from Peterson’s son’s middle name, a word that can be understood to mean ‘one-world life’. The piece itself takes the form of a gentle lullaby, its melody loosely shaped around the syllables of his name and sung to Peterson’s son by Luis Pérez Ixoneztli, a close collaborator whose presence across the record reflects a long-standing relationship that extends beyond the music itself.

Eine Disco-45 mit zwei heißen Tracks von Say She She's neuester LP ,Cut & Rewind". Die NYC Punk-Chic, Discodelic Funk Band hat letzten Oktober ihr drittes Studioalbum rausgebracht. Es ist ein politisch aufgeladenes, Dancefloor-zerstörendes Album, angeführt vom kraftvollen Gesangstrio Piya Malik, Sabrina Mileo Cunningham und Nya Gazelle Brown. Die A-Seite, der Titeltrack ,Cut & Rewind", ist ein Post-Punk-Femme-Funk-Track mit den mitreißenden Harmonien der Gruppe und einer unverkennbaren Funk-Base/Basslinie. Der Song ist hauptsächlich autobiografisch, enthält aber auch subtile Hommagen an Songwriting-Legenden. Die Gruppe hat kürzlich die B-Seite ,Disco Life" live bei Jimmy Kimmel gespielt. Der fröhliche, groovige Track verurteilt den Rassismus und die Homophobie von Steve Dahls ,Disco Demolition Night" aus dem Jahr 1979 und fordert die Tanzfläche als ,Spielfeld, auf dem alle frei sind" zurück.

Mit "Classics Vol. 1" (CV1) veröffentlichen Modeselektor eine besondere Edition, die wie ein musikalischer Lebenslauf funktioniert. CV steht nicht zufällig für Curriculum Vitae. Eigentlich wollten Szary und Gernot alte Tracks aus ihren ersten beiden Alben "Hello Mom!" und "Happy Birthday!" neu aufnehmen. Doch was als Rekonstruktion begann, verwandelte sich fast vollständig in etwas Neues. Eine frische Sammlung von Stücken, die den Geist ihrer frühen Releases atmet, ohne sie einfach zu kopieren. Das Duo blickt zurück und erschafft dabei Zukunft. Tracks wie "KILL BILL Vol.4", "Edgar" und andere Albentitel dienten als Ausgangsmaterial, wurden zig mal auseinander und wieder zusammengebaut, neu interpretiert und dann doch in den meisten Fällen nur als abstrakte Inspiration verwendet. Das Ergebnis ist eine Rückschau, die sich emanzipiert hat. Ein mutiges Experiment, ein gescheiterter Versuch im allerbesten Sinne.

"Classics Vol. 1" schlägt so eine unerwartete Brücke zwischen damals und morgen und fasst alles zusammen, was Modeselektor ausmacht: Neugier, Chaos, Humor und ein unerschütterliches Bedürfnis, immer wieder Neues aus der eigenen Geschichte herauszuarbeiten. Two foundational releases from Toronto's Strobe Records get a well-deserved reissue on the Clone Classic Cuts series, spotlighting a pivotal moment in North American dance music. While often overshadowed by the Detroit and New York scenes, Toronto's underground in the early '90s was brewing its own potent blend of house and techno - and these tracks are prime examples of that cross-border synergy.

The Hayden Andre Project's contributions sit at the perfect intersection of tribal house rhythms and the emotive, machine-driven pulse of early Detroit techno. There's a raw elegance here - a sense of deep groove layered with just the right amount of percussive tension. It's no surprise that these tracks became staples in the crates of DJs both then and now. The production feels timeless, with hypnotic arrangements that still command the floor over three decades later.

On the flip, Kingdom Come, another alias of Ron Allen, delivers lush, blissed-out house music that channels the soulful energy of New York's golden era while adding a uniquely Canadian sensibility. Allen's piano work, layered with warm pads and swinging drums, gives these tracks an unmistakable vibe - equal parts deep house ecstasy and garage swagger. It's the sound of 3 a.m. euphoria, of packed dance floors and emotional peaks.

Und doch könnte er nicht deutlicher werden: man denke an etablierte Flurfavoriten wie OPA, DER ALTE oder SILBERPFEIL... diese Tracktitel beziehen sich samt und sonders auf Runes Erinnerungen an eine Kindheit in Deutschland. '1977' ist nicht einfach nur entseeltes 'Best Of'-Gemenge: mit brandneuen Eisen wie BASSHUND, BAPPEDECKEL und EISWINTER im Feuer braucht KÖLSCH sich nun wirklich keine Gedanken über die zukünftige Wirkgeschichte seines Werks zu machen. Und dann ist da eine Rillenzirze wie OMA, hoch emotionaler Konterpart zum leicht sardonischen OPA und in jeder Hinsicht ebenso mitreissend wie die kanonische Überballade ALL THAT MATTERS. Für das große Finale schließlich wendet sich Rune an LORELEY, das bestimmende Initialrelease des Projekts und bis heute ein massiver Kracher von eigenem Recht - in der Tat so gewaltig, daß der Schock von gleich zwei weiteren Tracks gepuffert werden muss, dem dramatischen WASSERSCHUTZ und einem trojanischen Pferd namens FELIX. Letzteres sollte ja eigentlich eine Art Outro für das Album sein... doch dann hat jemand den Knopf gedrückt und das transdimensionale Portal erwachte zum Leben.

Der mehrfach preisgekrönte Londoner Jazz-Saxofonist startet mit seinerm neuen Soloalbum sein eigenes Label.

Multiinstrumentalist, Produzent und Künstler Shabaka (Hutchings) veröffentlicht mit "Of The Earth" sein drittes Soloalbum, das gleichzeitig das erste ist, das über sein eigenes Label Shabaka Records erscheint und komplett von ihm selbst geschrieben und produziert wurde. Auf "Of The Earth" kehrt Shabaka zu seinem charakteristischen Saxophonklang zurück, ergänzt durch ausgefeilte Elektronik und Produktion sowie traditionelle Holzblasinstrumente und Perkussion aus aller Welt. Diese Kombination unterstreicht sein vielseitiges Talent und prägt den Gesamtklang des Albums. Das Wiener Label SILUH RECORDS feiert 20-jähriges Jubiläum u.a. mit dieser limitierten wirklichen Vinyl Only-VÖ (no CD, no DL, no Stream)! Das Album kommt mit 13 Songs, aktuelle Label-Artists covern jeweils einen liebgewonnene Song von Labelkolleg*innen. Ein wilder Ritt zwischen den Genres ist vorprogrammiert, was auch den breiten Backkatalog der Wiener Indie-Institution Siluh Records gut widerspiegelt. Das 2005 gegründete Label mit mittlerweile über 100 Releases ist ein wahrliches Szene-Juwel, wo Bands wie DIVES, GARDENS, CULK, MILE ME DEAF, LAUNDROMAT CHICKS, SEX JAMS oder EUROTEURO ihr zuhause haben und zum kleinen Undeground-Hype der Musikstadt Wien maßgeblich beigetragen. TELEBRAINS nehmen sich DIVES' "Tomorrow" vor, diese wiederum graben einen alten LUISE POP Song, der nie auf einem Album erschienen ist, aus und erwecken ihn zu neuem Leben. Die Indie-Folk-Gruppe GARDENS bearbeiten eine Dada-Pop-Nummer von EUROTEURO, die wiederum einen TOPSY TURVY Song eingedeutscht haben. Und so geht's munter weiter... Der Titel "POCKET SONGS" bezieht sich auf ein Zitat des befreundeten Betreibers von Bachelor Records, der mal meinte "Pocket Band, eine Band für die Hosentasche. Eine Band, die man liebt und von der man Freunden erzählen möchte, aber nicht zu vielen, denn die Band sollte klein und in der Hosentasche bleiben und nicht in den Playlists von jedem Tom, Dick und Harry vorkommen". Lebanon Hanover kehren mit Songs zurück, welche die Zeit bis zum nächsten termin mit der Lieblingstherapeut*inn überbrücken können. Fast fünf Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung ihres letzten Werkes "Sci-Fi Sky" hat Lebanon Hanover nun mit "Asylum Lullabies" einen Soundtrack für einen Besuch in einer psychiatrischen Klinik kreiert. Das neue Album ist die Weiterentwicklung eines noch kälteren, noch bissigeren Sounds einer Band, die seit über einem Jahrzehnt die Nu Wave/Post-Punk-Szene dominiert, es ist ein sehr schweres Album, das sich mit psychischen Problemen, einer Trennung, andauernden Kriegen und dem aktuellen Horror der Welt befasst, der einen letztendlich mit Angst, Furcht und einem ständigen Gefühl der Erdrückung zurücklässt. Hidden away amidst the bustle of Rio de Janeiro’s Catete neighbourhood is a small alleyway behind a cast iron gate. At its end is Bairro Saavedra, the courtyard surrounded by Neo-colonial houses where Brazilian guitar virtuoso Fabiano do Nascimento spent much of his childhood. Built in 1928, this secluded neighbourhood with its wooden shutters, tiled floors and tranquil benches, provides the inspiration for the title of Do Nascimento’s new album VILA, a collaborative project with a sixteen piece orchestra led by trombonist and arranger Vittor Santos.

Recorded between Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles, VILA is grand, tender, warm, playful and nostalgic. On this stunningly ambitious work, the delicate compositions led by Nascimento's guitar, which sits central in the mix, are surrounded by Santos’ breathtaking orchestral arrangements which swirl in all directions: complimenting, questioning, responding; in constant conversation.

Like the eclecticism of the architecture Do Nascimento grew up surrounded by, his music straddles many worlds at once. He is known as a Brazilian acoustic guitar master and as such has collaborated with Arthur Verocai, Airto Moreira and Itibere Zwarg. But equally at home in Los Angeles's jazz and experimental music scenes, Do Nascimento is also known for his work with artists like Sam Gendel and Carlos Nino.

Vittor Santos is an arranger and Trombonist who has worked extensively with many of the greats of Brazilian music, including João Donato, Marcos Valle, Toninho Horta, and Elza Soares.

Vangelis, mit Texten von Costas Ferris, ist es ein konzeptionelles Doppelalbum, das bei seiner Veröffentlichung als „ein Werk von atemberaubender Komplexität und Originalität“ gepriesen wurde und die
Krönung in der Karriere von Aphrodite’s Child darstellt.
Mit Stücken wie „The Four Horsemen“, „Aegian Sea“, „Babylon“, „Do It“, „The Beast“ und „All the
Seats Were Occupied“ hat das Album im Laufe der Jahrzehnte stetig an Ansehen gewonnen und nachfolgende Generationen von Musikern beeinflusst.
Diese Box enthält remasterte Audio-Versionen des Original-Album-Mixes und der seltenen griechischen
LP-Version von 1974 (die einen deutlich anderen Mix als die Original-LP-Veröffentlichung aufwies) sowie
eine Blu-ray-Disc mit 96 kHz / 24-Bit-Atmos- & 5.1-Upmixen & Stereo-Mix, die alle von Vangelis betreut
wurden. Die Disc enthält außerdem als Bonus eine 28-minütige Episode der französischen Fernsehsendung
Discorama vom Juni 1972, in der Vangelis über das Album spricht (mit englischen Untertiteln).
Die Box enthält ein reich bebildertes Buch mit einem neuen Essay und Originalinterviews mit der Band
sowie vielen bisher unveröffentlichten Fotos, die Vangelis kurz vor seinem Tod im Mai 2022 in seinen

Josh da Costa's "New Wave Graveyard" ist ein Solo-Debüt, das die Vielfalt der Underground-Musik feiert und sich dabei eine eigene Nische schafft. Nach anderthalb Jahrzehnten in Bands wie dem Synthpop-Duo CMON (Mexican Summer) und den New Yorker DIY-Legenden Regal Degal (Terrible Records), veröffentlicht Josh da Costa endlich sein Solo-Debüt. Der erfahrene Kollaborations- und Tourmusiker spielte bereits mit Künstlern wie Drugdealer, Jessica Pratt, MGMT, Chris Cohen und vielen anderen. Über fünf Jahre entstand "New Wave Graveyard", das weit mehr als nur das im Titel erwähnte Genre der späten 70er/frühen 80er Jahre umfasst - von Flying-Nun-Compilations über den Glam-Rock von Sparks und Japan, Art-Pop von Prince und Yoko Ono bis hin zu Power-Pop, Electro, Britpop und Shoegaze - allesamt aus da Costas umfangreicher Plattensammlung. "New Wave Graveyard" mag zwar vom Genre der 70er und 80er Jahre inspiriert sein, das dem Album seinen Namen gibt, doch ist die/der New Wave nur eine(r) von vielen musikalischen Einflüssen von Josh da Costa. Das Album ist ein wunderschöner Mix aus Stilen und Ideen, von Glam bis Shoegaze, allesamt geprägt von Joshs vielseitigem Geschmack. Mit geistreichen Texten und einer Fülle eingängiger Songs ist es ein mitreißendes Statement eines vielversprechenden neuen Künstlers, ein komplettes Soloalbum, für das da Costa alle Songs und Texte selbst geschrieben, nahezu alle Instrumente gespielt und das Album selbst gemischt hat. Gemastert wurde es von Heba Kadry (Björk, Panda Bear, Blood Orange), das Albumcover stammt von Robert Beatty (dem legendären Künstler hinter den Plattencovern von Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Mdou Moctar, Oneohtrix Point Never und vielen mehr). Die klassische schwarze Vinyl-LP enthält ein farbiges Booklet mit den Songtexten.

"Casual Loop" is a collaboration that me & Submerse started working on in 2023 but it was another one of the tracks that I had lost due to my computer being stolen in early 2024, & I hadn't fully backed up everything I had done for a few months, including this track. This meant I had to re-do a lot of the work I had done with what Submerse had started but I was lucky enough to get it near identical to how it was sounding and ready for release. Submerse has been on Future Retro London a few times, with his EP release (FR033) & a track featured on the atmospheric VA EP (FR049) that came out late last year, I'm a huge fan of his musicality & his melodies, which made this track really fun to work on, even with all the obstacles faced!

My first interaction with Quaad goes way back to 2013, when he asked me for a guest mix for a radio show called The After Party that was on C89.5FM in Seattle (which is still up on my SoundCloud for anyone curious) and then before he started his current label (Heavy Sounds), he had started a label with Wetman called Vivid Recordings, which he was sending me the releases on (but I think in standard fashion, I kept forgetting to check them!). But it wasn't until 2022 when me & Dwarde played in Seattle with him and I saw his live Amiga set where he was playing a lot of his own music, & from then on, I was better aware of what he was doing & I got to hang out with him & know him a bit better, which is when I then fully started following what he was doing. Then eventually, we ended up doing a track together (he also uses FL Studio, just like me) and "Judge Dredd" is the end result of that.

Samurai Breaks is also someone that I've known of for a long time but didn't really properly connect with until recent years where I saw what he was doing with his label Super Sonic Booty Bangers, which also does events in Sheffield which I played for in 2024. It was quite an interesting collab because I don't think many people would have necessarily expected our styles to really gel well together but I think we managed to hit a nice midpoint between his craziness & mine haha

Fixate is most likely another person that people would not have anticipated as someone that I would collaborate with, mainly because the style of tune people know him for is more tied with the footwork/halftime sound that became popular in the 2010s, as well as his output as 1/2 of dubstep duo Leftlow, but he has made some jungle in the past & I'm always down for the challenge of stepping outside of my comfort zone to work with people who are not mainly based in the newskool jungle scene but have an appreciation for it. I found out about him through the releases he had on Exit Records from 2015 onwards, plus he was also a part of Richie Brains (the project in 2016 involving many artists forming a loose collective) so I was aware of what he was doing but I properly got to know him from when I went bowling with him, Dwarde & LMajor back in 2022 and then he sent me something to work on early last year (another FL Studio producer btw!), which I took my sweet time in starting it but eventually got done & here we are! And for those wondering, the track title (May Contain Traces) alludes to me & Fixate's shared allergy towards nuts (although his is a lot more severe than mine), which was the only thing I could think of to name the track after when it came down to it!

The funky, atmospheric, evocative and sometimes downright weird output of companies such as DeWolfe, Cavendish, Burton and the ubiquitous KPM have always been a guiding inspiration for ATA Records, as evidenced in the spooky soundtrack works of The Sorcerers, the big band brass of The Yorkshire Film & Television Orchestra and even in the soul-jazz of The Lewis Express ('Theme From The Watcher).

Everything released on ATA is written and guided by the label heads Neil Innes and Pete Williams, who frequently dip their toes in the Library pond while working on other projects. Recorded using the same techniques and equipment used to create the now legendary catalogues of music sold to the film and television industry of the 60's & 70's, The Library Archive could easily sit alongside the plain minimalist covers of KPM or Telesound.

The fierce Brass of 'Whack, Slap & Blow' and 'Kaye Okay' could both be a Keith Mansfield cut, acting as a theme tune to a glamorous saturday night tv show circa 1972. 'Duck Strut' is a cheeky slice of Bass driven Brit-funk, Muted horns and flute adding an element of Quincy Jones amongst the grooving drums and percussion. 'The Needle Nose', 'Midnight Heist' and 'Wiretap' are amongst the more cinematic tracks on the album. Moody and atmospheric, they conjure up images of dark alleys, shadowy figures and dead letter drops. 'Wigged out' channels the wonky organ weirdness of Italian library legends I Marc 4 while 'Nuclear Wind I & II' use Moog and Mellotron as electronic counterpoint to ethereal voices. 'Siren's sea's' acoustic interlude conjures up images of distant clifftops, gossamer vocals enticing you onto the rocks before album closer 'Planet Nine' traverses the cosmos.

A1) Pryda - Allein (Original Release 2012)

Pryda, the legendary alter ego of Eric Prydz, has earned iconic status in the electronic music scene with his refined productions and epic tracks. A3) Superfunk feat. Ron Carroll - Lucky Star (Original Release 2000)

Lucky Star was the breakthrough single of Superfunk, a French house group,and sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. The track includes a sample from Chris Rea's Josephine, adding to the recognizable and nostalgic vibe. B1) Dave Swayze - Goldwave (24K) (Original Release 1996)

This 1996 trance classic needs little introduction. Warm Weather by Chris Bangs feat. Rita Campbell is a summery, uplifting track that perfectly evokes the atmosphere of Ibiza. The song blends house and trance with the infectious vocals of Rita Campbell, creating a warm, relaxed vibe. The Ibiza BeachBall Vocal Mix adds a touch of Balearic energy, with a calm rhythm and melodies that immediately remind you of sunny beaches and carefree days. C1) Hyper Pearl - Can You Feel The Pain (Up & Vox Version) (Original Release 1995)

This 1995 trance classic made a lot of noise in clubs like Illusion, La Bush, Lagoa, and At the Villa. Pure old-school trance with emotion and drive like only that era could produce. A fantastic track, produced by Carl Drake, Matt Spinner, and Zzino, originally released on Belgium's Aquatic label.

C2) Daniel Bovie & Roy Rox - Stop Playing With My Mind (Dub) (Original Release 2008)

Daniel Bovie (aka Danny Van Wouwe) is a versatile producer with dozens of tracks to his name, many of which are considered classics. This track is no exception. Originally released on the legendary Strictly Rhythm label, co-produced with Dutch producer Roy "Van Luffelen" Rox, this track quickly became a floor-filler and charted in Belgium and the Netherlands. The vocals wereprovided by the talented Nelson.

D1) The Disco Freaks - Make My Dreams Reality (Chord Memory Mix) (Original Release 1997)

Originally released on an EP by The Disco Freaks, the alter ego of producers Bart Grinaert and Lajos Meszaros. This mix, which is much stronger than the original, quickly became a club classic and was played extensively in clubs like Illusion, Carat, and Extreme. A delightful, groovy, and uplifting track that combines disco elements with house. The Chord Memory Mix adds a nostalgic touch by using warm chords, funky basslines, and uplifting percussion.

D2) The Mackenzie feat. Jessy - I Am Free (Marino Stephano Club Mix) (Original Release 1997)

I Am Free by The Mackenzie needs little introduction and is a must in every DJ and vinyl lover's collection. This mix, often played at our parties, is something special. The man behind many legendary trance classics, Marino Stephano (RIP), hasreworked this version in his unmistakable way. The remix has an energetic and captivating vibe, with deep, hypnotic beats and floating synths. A beautiful track in its original version, it continues to fascinate.

A1) Borai & Denham Audio - Make Me (original release 2023)

Released in 2023 on the British label Room Two Records (catalogue R212001) on twelve inch vinyl, Make Me combines breakbeat, house and speed garage with high energy, featuring clear use of Amen breaks, rumbling sub bass and sharp rave sounds. At the heart of the track lies an instantly recognisable vocal hook from the mid eighties, a sample taken from Donna Allen - Serious (1986). The result feels like a long forgotten rave anthem from the nineties wrapped in a modern sound.

The original twelve inch pressing quickly became a highly sought after collector's item and received a limited pink vinyl repress in 2025. This track, first issued only on orange vinyl in 2023, was officially re released once all samples were cleared. It has every ingredient of a future classic, a true underground anthem for fans of modern UK rave and jungle energy.

A2) Smoke City - Mr. Gorgeous (and Miss Curvaceous) (Mood II Swing Vocal Mix) (original release 1997)

Originally released in 1997 on the album Flying Away by Smoke City. The Mood II Swing Remix, produced by New York house duo John Ciafone and Lem Springsteen (also the producers behind Ultra Naté - Free), takes the song straight to the dance floor with a smooth groove, soulful vocals and a deep, hypnotic flow.

The iconic line "Cool and calm, Mr Gorgeous..." remains untouched, while the remix enriches the original Latin and trip hop influences of the band with that distinctive late nineties house atmosphere. The result is a timeless club favourite, almost nine minutes of pure vibe (the Mood II Swing Vocal Mix runs 9minutes and 20 seconds), adored by DJs who like to bring a touch of soul to their house sets.

Released on Jive Records, the track received great praise. Music Week highlighted its "tight ay ay ay hook" and noted that the Mood II Swing and Hyperspace mixes made it a real standout. The original version reached number one in Italy in 1997, and the Mood II Swing Remix has since gained cult status in the Belgian club scene and beyond as the perfect marriage between soul and dance floor energy.

B1) Chris Raven - I Know You Love Me Too (Bruce Norris Remix) (original release 1997)

Christian Raabe, better known as Chris Raven, is a German producer who made his name in the late nineties progressive trance scene.

The Bruce Norris Remix of I Know You Love Me Too (Additive Records, catalogue 12AD 027) first appeared in late 1997 and was officially released in early 1998. The remix builds an euphoric atmosphere witha beautiful melody, dreamy pads and powerful drums, all typical of the progressive trance sound of that period.

The track gained extra attention when it appeared on Northern Exposure 3: Expeditions by Sasha and John Digweed in 1999. Many fans first discovered it there (especially the Van Bellen Remix version), helping to cement the cult status of I Know You Love Me Too within the progressive and trance community.

B2) Grooveyard - Mary Go Wild (original release 1996)

One of the most recognisable and iconic club tracks in Belgian and Dutch underground house history is without a doubt Mary Go Wild, released in 1996 on EC Records. The track quickly became the defining anthem of the rave scene in the Low Countries.

With a raw groove around 133 BPM, pumping four to the floor drums and the hypnotic vocal sample "Mary... go wild!", the record set dance floors ablaze in the nineties. Producer Jeroen Verheij, also known as Secret Cinema (from the classic Timeless Attitude), perfectly captured the raw energy of the European house movement of that era.

To this day Mary Go Wild stands as a symbol of pure rave power, a timeless anthem that, as one Discogs collector put it, "still works on any dance floor." Original twelve inch pressings on EC Records and later issues on Blanco Y Negro are highly sought after, and the track remains a staple in retro house and classic DJ sets.

C1) Dave Swayze - Last Flight To Paris (original release 2000)

Dave Swayze, best known for his classic Goldwave, has several hidden gems to his name, and Last Flight To Paris is certainly one of them. Released in November 2000 on the Belgian label Yeti Records, the track is a subtle blend of trance and progressive house. It is known for its emotional melody, dreamy build up and strong percussion, built on the foundation of progressive trance but with thewarmth and groove of house.

At the time, Last Flight To Paris was frequently played by progressive trance DJs and soon became a cult favourite among vinyl collectors within the genre. Original pressings on Yeti Records are now extremely rare and much sought after. The mix of emotion, euphoria and timeless club energy makes Last Flight To Paris a hidden treasure from the late trance era of 1999 and 2000.

C2) Joe Goddard - Music Is The Answer (Hot Since 82 Remix) (original release 2017)

This remix by Hot Since 82 (Daley Padley, from Barnsley in the north of England) for Music Is The Answer by Joe Goddard is partly based on the original classic Celeda - Music Is The Answer (in the Danny Tenaglia Remix). It was released in February 2017 as a digital exclusive through Domino Records.

Hot Since 82 reworked the original, a vocal house track by Hot Chip member Joe Goddard, into a deep, grooving house track with a warm rolling bass line. The soulful vocals of Joe Goddard (featuring SLO) take on a subtle melancholic tone in his remix, creating a modern house classic filled with emotion and drive.

The remix became a major club favourite in 2017 and 2018, supported by leading names in the tech house scene and heard at festivals around the world. Interestingly, this popular version had never been released on vinyl, which only increased its cult status among collectors. Music Is The Answer (Hot Since 82 Remix) remained a digital classic for years, until now, finally available in this long awaited vinyl edition.

D1) Just A Man - I'm Sorry (Original Club Mix) (original release early 2000s)

The French project Just A Man consists of brothers Hervé and Nicolas Subrechicot. Their track I'm Sorry is an emotionally charged house record that perfectly captures the early 2000s club atmosphere.

Released in 2003, the song combines soulful male vocals with a warm, rhythmic production that blends UK garage and classic club house influences. The Original Club Mix (6 minutes and 14 seconds) builds gradually towards a powerful, uplifting climax, carried by rich chords and an irresistible groove.

Although I'm Sorry stayed somewhat under the radar at the time, it is regarded by connoisseurs as a hidden gem, a perfect balance of melody and groove. The twelve inch vinyl release (on RKG / Motor Music, 2003) is now hard to find and highly prized among vinyl and house collectors, which only adds to its appeal.

I'm Sorry embodies the pure sound of early 2000s vocal house: sincere, funky and danceable, with that unmistakable UK garage touch, even more evident in the G Box Garage Club Remix on the same EP. An unfairly overlooked track that has always remained a true timeless classic since the very beginning of 12 Inch Lovers.

D2) Teddy Pendergrass -Life Is A Song Worth Singing (Jamie Jones Remix) (original release 2019)

In 2019 Jamie Jones breathed new life into the classic soul song by Teddy Pendergrass with a contemporary house rework. The remix was released in March 2019 as part of the digital EP Mixmag Presents: Teddy Pendergrass - The Remixes, issued in honour of the documentary If You Don't Know Me, a film about the rise of Teddy Pendergrass, the first African American male artist to achieve five consecutive platinum albums in the United States during the seventies.

Jamie Jones stayed true to the feel good essence of the 1978 original but wrapped it in a modern club sound, with pulsing synths, a warm rolling groove and a tight four to the floor beat providing the perfect base for Teddy's powerful and instantly recognisable voice.

The result is a captivating, soulful house track that effortlessly bridges past and present without losing the emotional power of Pendergrass's vocal delivery.

Despite its widespread popularity in the international club scene, where it became a favourite among DJs who love to blend soul with house, this remix never had a physical vinyl release. Until now, with its long awaited appearance on 12 Inch Lovers Sampler 12.

After the acclaimed Bar Mediterraneo, Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina return with People Of The Moon, expanding their sound into a space of creative freedom.
