Congo Lion was immersed in African, Afro-Caribbean and reggae music from an early age. Settling in Africa when he was a teenager, he was strongly inspired by artists such as Burning Spear, Peter Tosh or The Gladiators. Convictions and values carried by their captivating melodies, full of humanity and spirituality, echo the sensitivity of Congo Lion. “Word, power and sound” is the foundation of his creative approach, inviting a return to origins, and openness to others. Self-taught, he composed his first songs in English and Jamaican Patois under the name of Natty Congo, at the age of 16. Most of his recent collaborations have been alongside the renowned Reggae producer, Karigan. Recording at his Back to Basic Studio, to produce a Reggae Roots Vintage sound, without concession, harking back to the original creations & tradition of the 70s & 80s.

Später veröffentlichte sie als Produzentin internationale Club-Hits und trat auf Festivals wie Roskilde auf. Seit sechs Jahren verbindet Robert Görl und Sylvie Marks eine funkensprühende Kreativpartnerschaft, die in der Veröffentlichung ihres ersten gemeinsamen Albums als GÖRL gipfelt, "Dark Silver Moon Light". Seit mehr als drei Jahrzehnten befindet sich AFI in einem nahezu ständigen Prozess der Neuerfindung. Die Band hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, sich mit jedem Album weiterzuentwickeln - manchmal sogar dramatisch - und sich niemals zu sehr in einem Genre einzurichten oder sich auf ihren beeindruckenden Erfolgen auszuruhen. Dieser Ansatz hat ihr Publikum vergrößert, aber auch herausgefordert mit einer klanglichen Identität, die sich in wilde, unerwartete Richtungen entwickeln kann. Mit ihrem zwölften Album "Silver Bleeds the Black Sun_" stehen AFI erneut am Anfang eines mutigen neuen Kapitels, nur dass sie es diesmal geschafft haben, sich selbst zu überraschen. Wie schafft es eine Band, die für kreative Umbrüche bekannt ist, immer wieder Wege zu finden, sich selbst aus ihrer Komfortzone herauszuziehen? Normalerweise beginnt die Band ein Album, indem sie sich sofort in das Schreiben stürzt und sich einfach von ihrer intuitiven musikalischen Sprache leiten lässt. Für "Silver Bleeds the Black Sun_" jedoch haben AFI sich bewusst dazu entschlossen, ihren kreativen Ansatz komplett zu ändern. Diesmal begann alles mit einer Frage: Wie könnten sie neue Wege beschreiten? Der Schlüssel zum Fortschritt lag letztendlich in der gemeinsamen Vergangenheit von AFI. "Wir begannen mit etwas, das wie Echo & the Bunnymen klang", erklärt Gitarrist Jade Puget, der das Album produzierte und abmischte. "Aber schließlich landeten wir bei dieser Mischung aus Death Rock und Postpunk - all diesen Einflüssen aus den späten 70ern und frühen 80ern, mit denen wir aufgewachsen sind, wie Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus und Siouxsie and the Banshees." Das Ziel war es, ein Album mit einer einzigartigen Stimmung zu schaffen, etwas Verträumtes und Ätherisches, und die Bandmitglieder tauchten kopfüber in Einflüsse ein, die schon immer tief in der Musik von AFI verwurzelt waren, jetzt aber in den Vordergrund rückten. "Silver Bleeds the Black Sun_" ist düster und jenseitig, aber auch grandios und würdevoll, bissig und schön zugleich - mit anderen Worten: Es ist sehr AFI, aber doch anders als alles, was man bisher von der Band gehört hat.

Few producers age into deep house with this level of ease. From Switzerland, Shaka's latest EP feels authentic and lived-in rather than retro while drawing on 90s jazz-inflected house without leaning on pastiche. The opener main vocal mix drifts in on flutes, soft keys and Eve's voice, setting a loose, late-night mood that favours feel over flash. The instrumental flute version pares things back, letting swing and detail breathe. Flip it and 'As If Eternity Belonged To Us', featuring Cate Acupar, locks into a warmer, early-2000s pulse, while 'Life Is Brighter With You' cools the room with sax, piano and patient restraint. Dancefloor-ready but also nice and reflective.

Madonna’s Confessions on a Dance Floor is not only one of the most celebrated albums of the 21st century but continues to be an influential reference within pop and dance music. Originally released in 2005, the record features 12 seamless club tracks including the global hits “Hung Up,” “Sorry,” “Jump” and the deep cut favorite “Get Together.” For the first time, the full continuous mix has been pressed on 2LP silver vinyl and carefully adapted to its groundbreaking technical specifications, while preserving the album's club flow as Madonna originally intended. The dance floor is calling, no time to hesitate.

Legendary is a bold title for an EP, but is fully justified in the case of this new 12" from Silver Walker, which gathers some of house music's best and most proven talents. Jon Dixon opens with the light, fluttering house stylings of 'Five 15', which have sax motifs adding a touch of classy hi-tech jazz. Dallas man JT Donaldson follows by folding jazz phrasing into a swinging, deep house framework with understated finesse. On the flip, Abacus delivers 'A Gathering Of Griots' a warm, melodic cut bathed in sunlight and label head DFRA closes with a tribute to the great Mike Huckaby that is driving but soft, reverential and with a bittersweet energy.

Next up on Industry Standard we have a very unique vinyl release from Melbourne’s Ben Silver, who recently released his ‘F So Good’ EP on the label in 2025.

‘Inside / Outside’ is pressed on to a 10” vinyl, with the ‘Inside’ track being cut from the inside of the vinyl. Flip the vinyl and ‘Outside’ is cut from the outside.

Following on from his release on IS, and also his ‘Cosmic Weapon’ collab with Oliver Dollar & Boogs on Rekids, Ben has delivered two heads down, tracky cuts that are sure to take any dancefloor on a late-night trip. They are both energetic, underground tension builders that bridge the house / techno divide perfectly.

Ralph Rodriguez aka Ralph Session is a Barcelona-based NYC-born house artist who kicks off this lush new Silver Walker 12" with 'Voices Rising', a smooth and song-driven deep house cut with a summery soul and stylish female vocals that hark back to the earliest soulful OGs. DFRA & MissFly combine then for 'Thinking', which is a more percussive and steamy, intense house sound with jazzy chords. Session's 'Love's Dance Floor' (instrumental mix) then taps into smoky late-night soul vibes with meandering leads allowing your mind to get lost in the moment and DFRA's 'Kiss My Soul' closes with a more playful and jazzy sound thanks to the charming flute leads and nimble, dancing keys.

The SILVER SKYLARKS team up with jazz legend RONNIE LAWS on two new tracks: "NATURAL HIGH" and "THAT'S THE GAME". 5 mixes including the jazzy originals plus a peak hour house remix of "NATURAL HIGH" from NRG (LUKE SOLOMON and CHRIS PENNY) and an extended disco edit by EASTWOOD DISTRICT of the flip.
