Brainchild of Phil “LandPhil” Hall of Municipal Waste (also Cannabis Corpse, Iron Reagan) who writes the music and plays bass/guitar in the studio (and bass live) alongside a power house of sick underground metal musicians including Vreth of Finntroll (Finland) on vocals. Not a studio project, Morbikon spent 6 weeks on the road promoting their debut album “Ov Mournful Twilight” (2022) along side internationally notable extreme metal acts Exhumed and Skeletal Remains. Production wise We wanted a late 80's-early 90's approach to the sound of this album. *BLUE VINYL REPRESS* Started during lockdown by three friends from Leeds, UK who wanted to make some crossover thrash, having been fans of the music for years, Pest Control is the classic story of DIY music straight from a time of crisis. Jack (from Death Metal bruisers Mortuary Spawn) joined soon after the release of the Demo in 2020 and the line up was complete with Pest Control’s first show commencing in their home town the week lockdown ended. Influenced by classic thrash giants such as Metallica, Testament etc. but with a healthy spoonful of crossover like Crumbsuckers, Ludichrist and Municipal Waste, the members grew up with one foot in the Leeds metal and hardcore scenes, taking the best from both worlds. Topping it all off, Leah's powerful vocal reminds one of the great Dawn Crosby from Detente. For the recording of the LP they were joined by Luke on second guitar and now have a permanent second guitarist in the shape of Joe Williams (Big Cheese, Fate) and will be seen touring Europe with the almighty Foreseen, having already played across the UK with Municipal Waste, Eternal Champion and as well as appearances at Outbreak and Wrongside Fests. SPIRIT ADRIFT-Mastermind Nate Garrett kommentiert: 'Ich dachte immer, es wäre eine coole Erfahrung, einige Songs von Bands aufzunehmen, die die DNA von SPIRIT ADRIFT begründen. Diese Auswahl ist für mich offensichtlich und naheliegend, aber für die Fans vielleicht unerwartet. Das hat die ganze Sache zu einem Riesenspaß gemacht. Eine Band wie Lynyrd Skynyrd ist vielleicht nicht das erste, was einem einfällt, wenn man an die Einflüsse von SPIRIT ADRIFT denkt. Also war es meine Aufgabe, herauszufinden, wie man diese großartigen Songs ehren kann, aber im unverwechselbaren SPIRIT ADRIFT-Stil. Um die ganze Sache noch spezieller zu machen, habe ich diese Einflüsse kanalisiert und ein paar neue Songs geschrieben, um die Sache in Gang zu bringen. SPIRIT ADRIFT mastermind Nate Garrett comments: “I always thought it would be a cool experience to record some songs by bands that are foundational to the DNA of SPIRIT ADRIFT. These choices are obvious and on the nose to me, but maybe unexpected to the fans. That made the whole thing a lot of fun. A band like Lynyrd Skynyrd might not be the first thing you think of when considering SPIRIT ADRIFT’s influences, so the task for me became figuring out how to honor these great songs, but in the distinct SPIRIT ADRIFT style. To make the whole thing even more special, I channeled these influences and wrote a couple of new songs to kick things off.
