But behind it all is Vallie’s unmistakable voice. Nachdem CHARLOTTE WESSELS 2021 mit ihrer elektrisierenden Song-Sammlung Tales From Six Feet Under den Grundstein für ihre vielversprechende Solo-Karriere gelegt hat, veröffentlicht die ehemalige DELAIN-Frontfrau und Songwriterin nun den Nachfolger,
Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II, der am 7. Oktober 2022 über Napalm Records erscheinen wird.

Wie bereits auf dem Erstwerk wurden alle Instrumente von Wessels selbst eingespielt oder programmiert und in Eigenregie in ihrem eigenen Six Feet Under Studio produziert. Dean Lewis veröffentlicht sein neues Album „The Hardest Love“

Das zweite Studioalbum des Australiers, der mit „Be Alright“, „Waves“ und „Half A Man“ auf echte Streaming Hits verweisen kann, enthält neben „Hurtless“ und „Looks Like Me“ mit der aktuellen Single „How Do I Say Goodbye“ einen aufstrebenden Hit. Kindheitserinnerungen und ein musikalischer Held sind die Inspiration für From Afar, das bislang persönlichste Album von Víkingur Ólafsson. Der isländische Pianist hat eine ungewöhnliche Entscheidung getroffen und das Repertoire sowohl auf einem Steinway als auch auf Klavier eingespielt. From Afar nahm im September 2021 Gestalt an, als Ólafsson einen seiner Lieblingskomponisten traf, den »Meister der wenigen Töne« György Kurtág. Dessen Aus der Ferne hallt wider im Titel der neuen ufnahme. Weil Ólafsson nicht die richtigen Worte fand, um Kurtág für die Begegnung zu danken, die ihn so »leicht und froh« gemacht hatte,
suchte er stattdessen nach der richtigen Musik. From Afar ist ein »Brief an einen Freund«, wie Ólafsson sagt. Originalminiaturen und Transkriptionen des ungarischen Komponisten hat er ausgewählt. Er verwebt sie mit isländischen und ungarischen Volksliedern und Stücken von Schumann, Brahms und Thomas Adès – Musik, die das Leben des Pianisten durchzieht. Die dreifache Grammy-Gewinnerin Hilary Hahn präsentiert Eclipse: ein Album, das ihre Rückkehr auf die Bühne feiert. Aufgenommen mit dem hr-Sinfonieorchester und seinem Chefdirigenten Andrés OrozcoEstrada, liefert die Geigerin Interpretationen von drei Werken, die mit universellen Emotionen aufgeladen sind und dennoch im musikalischen Erbe ihrer Komponisten verwurzelt sind: Dvořáks Violinkonzert, ein Meisterwerk aus der „slawischen Periode“ des tschechischen Komponisten, Ginasteras Violinkonzert und

Der Soundtrack zur erfolgreichen BBC-Fernsehserie ‚Around The World In 80 Days‘, komponiert vom legendären Filmkomponisten Hans Zimmer, dem Komponisten von ‚Bleeding Fingers‘, Christian Lundberg, und dem Produzenten Russell Emanuel. David Tennant spielt den unwahrscheinlichen Weltenbummler Phileas Fogg, der sich auf den Weg macht, in 80 Tagen um die Welt und wieder zurück zu reisen. Auf Naked Truth ist Avishai Cohens Trompetenspiel von einer rauen Schönheit und Verletzlichkeit gezeichnet, die seiner bis dato improvisationsreichsten Aufnahme für ECM eine ergreifende Note einhaucht.

Eine Musik des Augenblicks, die während einer Aufnahme-Session in Südfrankreich entstanden ist und die Form einer ausgedehnten Suite annimmt. Mark Knopfler, einer der größten Gitarristen aller Zeiten, veröffentlicht am 7. Oktober sein zweites Songbook „The Studio Albums 2009-2018“.

Ekin Fil returns to the guitar on Dora Agora. Her earliest recordings, notably her debut on Root Strata, prominently featured guitar in this urgent expressions of a dreamy dreariness that immediately offered enthusiastic comparisons to Grouper. In her development as composer of ephemeral ghostliness for numerous albums as well as her scores to film soundtracks, that instrument has given way to keyboards, organs, synths, and various mood engineering devices, in her beautifully melancholy pursuits of an emotional emptiness through sound. Yet, the pandemic era gave Ekin pause to reflect on her creative process and she picked that instrument back up to create one of her greatest albums to date.

As direct and urgent as these songs can be, Ekin swaddles her acoustic guitar chords in soft-focus reverb and polyphonous shadow, colored with a judicious amount of shoegazing drone and somber atmosphere that speaks to her continued development as a composer. "Ghost Boy" in particular is a bittersweet, wistful tune whose arrangement harkens to Johnny Marr at his peak of effortless downer simplicity. "Farba" and "Yo Feelings" turn the emotional screws with soul-crush crescendos of vocal melodies that build upon Ekin's lonely guitar chords. Again, Grouper emerges as one of Ekin's closest neighbors, alongside Carla Dal Forno, Slowdive's Pygmallion, and Movietone.

Grave Dancers Union is the sixth studio album by the American
Alternative Rock band Soul Asylum, released in 1992. The album spent 76 weeks on the Billboard music charts and was certified triple-Platinum in 1993, establishing Soul Asylum as one of the most successful Rock groups of the first half of the 1990s.

The album yielded the mega-hit “Runaway Train”, which by winning a Grammy, put the band in a whole new league. Tracks like “Home Sick” and “New World” bear the roots of the Country-Rock revival. “Somebody to Shove” is pure joy Soul Asylum style.

American thrash metal band Whiplash released their debut album Power And Pain in 1986 on the Roadrunner label. The backing vocals were recorded by Rob Kabula & Vinny Stigma of Agnostic Front and Peter Steele & Louie Beateaux of Carnivore. The band has been centred around guitarist and vocalist Tony Portaro, but are also notable for their drummer Tony Scaglione, who left the band after the album release to tour with Slayer.

Power And Pain is available as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on silver coloured vinyl and includes an insert.

Due to COVID-19, the French avant-garde band Magma was unable to perform live, so they decided to dive into the studio to create new material. This resulted in a brand new album titled Kãrtëhl, a collective album such as they have not made in a long time. The band reformed in 2020 and added new musicians to the lineup, which created opportunities for new innovative compositions. After the rather dark 2019 Zëss, this new work Kãrtëhl features bright and resolutely optimistic collective new work, the result of an “Operation Kartëhl”.

The 2LP Kãrtëhl includes 6 new tracks and an additional 2 bonus tracks, which are demos from Christian Vander’s personal collection, recorded at home in 1978. Housed in a gatefold sleeve, this 2LP-set features an etch on Side D.

Alternative rockers Barenaked Ladies are best known for their hit singles, “One Week”, “The Old Apartment”, “Pinch Me”, “If I Had
$1000000”, “Brian Wilson” and the theme song for the sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Revered for their light-hearted, comedic performance style and humorous banter between songs, improvised raps/songs are staples at most concerts. They have won multiple Juno Awards and have been nominated for Grammy Awards. The group has sold over 15 million records including albums and singles.

Stunt (1998) is their fourth full-length studio album, and by far their most successful. It entered the US Charts at third place and sold over 4 million units by the end of its chart run. It is one of the best albums the Barenaked Ladies has released. Its first single, “One Week” became the band’s breakthrough single in the U.S. market by topping the charts, and also entered the top 10 in the UK.

The Posies released their third studio album Frosting On The Beater back in 1993. It featured a darker sound than their prior work, partly due to the production style of Don Fleming, who previously worked with Sonic Youth and Screaming Trees amongst others. The album spawned three singles, “Dream All Day”, “Solar Sister” and “Definite Door”.

Mit seinem dritten Album als Peel Dream Magazine lockt Joseph Stevens in eine fabelhafte, zickzackförmige Welt, die er selbst entworfen hat. Auf Pad verzichtet er auf die unscharfe vorherige Glorie seiner Indie-Pop-Vergangenheit - hier zittert erst ein Vibraphon, stehen Streicher ebenfalls im Mittelpunkt. Der Vorhang hebt sich für einen opulentem Kammerpop und gibt den Blick frei auf Banjo. Glockenspiel. Farfisa. Und als er im Titeltrack des Albums ein Stöhnen ausstößt, wird klar, dass dies kein gewöhnlicher Auftritt ist. Pad ist ein konzeptionelles Werk über das Sich-Verlieren, wenn man nur noch sich selbst hat, und deutet auf eine aufregende neue Zukunft für Stevens' Pop-Song hin, indem es seine eigene Existenz neu interpretiert. Als Nachfolger des erfolgreichen Agitprop Alterna aus dem Jahr 2020 stellt Pad eine bedeutende soundtechnische Entwicklung für den 34-jährigen Songwriter dar, der im selben Jahr mitten in der Pandemie nach Los Angeles zog. Drumcomputer und Synthesizer aus den siebziger Jahren sind geblieben, aber er hat seine schnarrende Offset-Gitarre gegen eine Nylonsaite ausgetauscht und sich für einen sanften Barock-Pop-Sound entschieden, der von Bossa, Folk und seiner eigenen unheimlichen Mystik durchdrungen ist. Neben Vorbildern aus der Mitte des Jahrhunderts wie Burt Bacharach greift Stevens auf die kultisch geliebten Basteleien der Beach Boys aus den späten 1960er Jahren zurück und bietet eine surreale Melange aus alten Orgeln und gefundener Percussion sowie Harry Nilssons Songteppich The Point!von 1970. Pad klingt zwar wunderschön, hat aber auch eine gewisse Dunkelheit. Stevens spricht unsere generelle Ambivalenz gegenüber der Zukunft von allem, was wir kennen, an, teilweise beeinflusst durch seine Zeit in New York zu Beginn der Pandemie. In "Hiding Out" klagt er: Ich wandere an der Vernon Mall vorbei und hinauf zur Queensboro Bridge. Man gibt mir das Gefühl, zwei Fuß klein zu sein, aber das ist keine Art zu leben. Letzten Endes verfolgt Stevens einen Ansatz, bei dem der erste Gedanke der beste Gedanke ist, und lehnt sich an die fantastischen Elemente seiner eigenen Lebensgeschichte an. Pad ist ebenso archetypisch wie seltsam und verwischt genau die Grenzen, die es zu definieren versucht.
