In 2013, between Hypnoflip Invasion and Stup Virus, Julien Barthélémy aka Stupeflip composed the soundtrack for Parenthèse, the first feature film directed by Bernard Tanguy. Julien and Bernard had recently met at a photo exhibition by Nathalie Sauvegrain, whose film Océane Bernard produced. Bernard, who has just been nominated for a César and shortlisted for an Oscar for a short film, is developing his first feature-length film as a director: Parenthèse, a buddy film about the feeling of growing old, an in camera film on a sailing boat in the Mediterranean, set against the magnificent backdrop of the Port-Cros and Porquerolles National Park (Var). A Stupeflip fan, Bernard considered Julien to compose the music, in his Pop Hip version rather than King Ju, convinced that his 80's style would fit perfectly with the nostalgic vision of the heroes of the story and that Stupeflip was also capable of bridging the gap between generations. Julien composed 11 tracks for the occasion, 8 of which found their way into the final version of the film. The title track, "Parenthèse", features arrangements by Anne Gravoin's string orchestra, giving it a depth and density never before seen in Stupeflip's discography. For the 10th anniversary of the filming, the soundtrack, which was only available on the DVD released in 2017, is being offered for the first time in a remastered version (Marie Pieprzownik, Translab), including 3 previously unreleased tracks not included in the original cut.

Eine Formation aus fünf gleichberechtigten Mitgliedern, alle Vollzeitmusiker, und welche die vor allem in diversen Genres unterwegs sind. Aber auch die Essenz dessen, was die Band sein sollte, ist jetzt auf den letzten vier Alben (einschließlich Nr. 'VII') zu finden. Auch wenn die neuen Songs vielleicht eingängiger/poppiger sind als je zuvor, orientiert sich der Sound des neuen Albums wieder an 'Spidergawd IV' und 'V'. Album Nr. 'VI' war eine inspirierende und interessante Reise darüber, wie direkt und aufgeräumt ihr Sound sein kann. tapetopia 004 The Leipzig band Neu Rot represented a singular phenomenon within the alternative music reservoir of the GDR. As with so many bands that cultivated a more sophisticated sound in the late 80s, Neu Rot’s beginnings had been in punk rock. But, with a remarkable rigour against itself, the band steadily worked its way towards post-rock. This thorough process came to fruition in 1988 with the production of the tape “Halt An”. It had been preceded by the band’s struggle for its very own means and their technical feasibility. Neu Rot’s pilgrimage to its own centre was not unimpeded. The band’s name was perceived by the GDR’s cultural watchdogs as an erratic chain of associations between the suspicious word “Neu” and the ideological signal colour red. The band was legal, but its lyrics were deemed illegal. The edition of “Halt An” was somewhere between over fifty and under one hundred copies. Released in 1981, the legendary album "Mouhamadou Bamba" is the masterpiece of the Orchestra Baobab, which has dedicated more than ten years of existence. Under the direction of the percussionist saxophonist Issa Sissokho, of the irremovable guitarist Barthélémy Attiso the band records this album at the Golden Baobab studio in Dakar directed and produced by the young producer Ibrahima Sylla.
The Baobab symbolizes both the rooting in Senegalese traditional values and the ability of the tree to reach heights, the sound of the group is a perfect syncretism of Senegalese and Afro-Cuban imaginaries in which the montunos of electric guitars and vocal improvisations in wolof language marry subtly to the rhythms of cuban son and other boleros.

Aufgenommen und gemischt in den Sörgarden Studios September 2020, und das erste Spidergawd-Album mit Brynjar Takle Ohr an der Co-Leadgitarre. Mit der Einführung zweier Leadgitarren hat die Band endgültig ihr musikalisches Rückrad gefunden. 'VI' konkretisiert dieses Neue Inkarnation mit voller Power! Zurück ist auch Saxophonist Rolf Martin Snustad, der die Band 2019 verlassen hat. Spidergawd machen exakt da weiter, wo sie schon bei S. 'IV' und S. 'V' aufgehört haben. Der Unterschied diesmal ist der Co-Songwriter Brynjar Takle Ohr, während sich beim Vorgänger noch Bassist Hallvard Gaardløs als Co-Pilot austoben durfte. Die jetzt aus fünf Musikern bestehende Band liefert wuchtigen Hardrock mit klassischen 80er-Jahre-Reminiszenzen, zitiert Bands wie Thin Lizzy & Co und zeigt dabei unmissverständlich auf, 'wo der Barthel den Most holt'.
