Inspired by the original Industrial Records release of William S. Burroughs's Nothing Here Now but the Recordings Belgian record label Sub Rosa worked with Burroughs to release another album: Break Through In Grey Room. Originally compiled in 1986 by producer Bill Rich, the album features Burroughs's experimental recordings from 1961 to 1976, featuring field recordings by Burroughs of the Master Musicians of Jajouka, experimental collaborations with mathematician Ian Sommerville and painter/cut-up originator Brion Gysin. Break Through In Grey Room documents William S. Burroughs during his time in Europe and England, working with Ian Sommerville on recording with the 'cut -up' technique. Sommerville's technical background enabled him to contribute to the early development of sound - and - light shows in London, leading to work with gear provided by Paul McCartney in an apartment owned by Ringo Starr. Experimental in nature, the record is as much an exhibition of studio and composition technique as it is a document of underground culture at that time. For the 2023 reissue, Dais Records has collaborated with the Estate of William S. Burroughs on reissuing the album on vinyl and compact disc, fully remastered by mastering engineer Josh Bonati.

Die Zusammenarbeit zwischen NEIL GAIMAN und dem FOURPLAY STRING QUARTET startete 2010, als das Sydney Opera House's Graphic Festival FOURPLAY beauftragte, einen Soundtrack zu NEILs Novelle "The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains" für eine Live-Performance mit ihm zu schreiben. Diese Zusammenarbeit führte zu einer anhaltenden Freundschaft und kreativen Zusammenarbeit, bei der NEIL und FOURPLAY das Konzept einer Reihe von Original-Werken rund um das Konzept des Tierkreises erarbeiteten, wobei die traditionellen Zeichen durch eine neue Sammlung von Wörtern und Objekten ersetzt wurden, die Aspekte des Lebens erkunden. Sie nannten diese Zusammenarbeit Signs. Einige der Arbeiten in "Signs Of Life" wurden für dieses Projekt entwickelt. Neben diesen Original-Werken gibt es neue Gedichte und Geschichten von NEIL, die mit der Musik von FOURPLAY verwoben sind, zwei Covers von Songs aus NEILs früheren Projekten und ein Instrumental-Stück, das von NEILs Arbeit inspiriert ist. Da sich alle Beteiligten in ihrer Kreativität immer geweigert haben, sich in eine Schublade stecken zu lassen, haben sie mit "Signs Of Life" etwas Bemerkenswertes und Einzigartiges geschaffen. The small town of Bremen in Northern Germany has a long musical tradition ever since the Brothers Grimm issued the tale of the Bremen Town Musicians. Now it is the Our Label brothers that bring you music from that very city, which was their own place to be for musical nightlife adventures: Uncle Hammond’s Soul Jazz Movement is a seven piece group honoring the groovy styles of Jimmy Smith and Reuben Wilson. This 45 features their interpretation of two of the bands' favorite tunes. "Greens" is a midtempo boogaloo-ish groove for the dancefloor and "Waltz" was an instant choice by Our Label's Gu for its deep and soulful harmonies. Bothe tracks were recorded live at the famous Studio Nord in Bremen, Germany.

Brazilian singer, guitarist and actor Seu Jorge returns with an intimate and stripped back session and album, a collaboration with his close friend and kindred spirit Rogê, for new UK based, direct-to-disc record label, Night Dreamer.

Recorded and cut direct-to-disc on Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd August 2019 at Artone Studio, Haarlem, The Netherlands. Brazilian singer, guitarist and actor Seu Jorge turns to brother-in-arms Rogê, for their first ever album recording, celebrating 25 years of friendship and companionship as part of the latest instalment on UK based, direct-to-disc record label, Night Dreamer.

From concept to completion in four days, the Night Dreamer session commits a lifetime of collaboration and companionship to record for the first time, encapsulated by ‘Caminhão’ - the first song the duo ever wrote together 25 years ago.

Similar to his breakout album and Bowie homage, The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions, the new record is stripped back and raw but with an altogether different ambition - to create a 'classic Brazilian record'. Featuring both Seu Jorge and Rogê on guitar and vocals it also enlists the additional talents of two of Brazil’s most sought-after percussionists, Peu Meurray and Pretinho da Serrinha.

The seven original compositions recall the pairs plaintive and idiosyncratic melancholy and draws on the likes of Brazilian greats like Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil and orge Ben.

From Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, Jorge’s success has been witnessed by close friend Rogê – a story which has seen Jorge go from humble beginnings in Rio to working with the likes of Beck and Bowie, and starring in major film and television productions. Well known for his acting roles in,

City of God and the current Netflix hit series Irmandade (Brotherhood), it was Wes Anderson’s A Life Aquatic film that global audiences first saw Jorge on the screen performing as a troubadour strumming Portuguese-language covers of David Bowie classics. „2014 Forest Hills Drive“ erschien als drittes Studioalbum des amerikanischen Rappers J. Cole am 9. Dezember 2014. Es wurde von ByStorm Entertainment, Columbia Records, Dreamville Records und Roc Nation veröffentlicht.

Während die Aufnahmesessions ein ganzes Jahr in Anspruch nahmen, war J. Cole im Wesentlichen selbst für die Produktion zuständig. Beteiligt waren unter anderen Produzenten wie Illmind, Vinylz, Phonix Beats und Willie B. Das Album wurde mit wenig Promotion drei Wochen vor seiner Veröffentlichung angekündigt
und lediglich durch die vier Singles ”Apparently”, ”Wet Dreamz”, ”No Role Modelz” und ”Love Yourz” unterstützt.

„2014 Forest Hills Drive“ wurde als Top Rap Album bei den Billboard Music Awards sowie gleichermaßen als Album des Jahres bei den BET Hip Hop Awards 2015 ausgezeichnet.

"Memento Mori" stellt Depeche Modes insgesamt 15. Studioalbum dar, während Gahan und Gore nach dem tragischen Tod von Bandmitgründer Andrew "Fletch" Fletcher im Jahr 2022 den ersten Longplayer in zweiköpfiger Besetzung vorlegen. Produziert von James Ford mit Unterstützung von Marta Salogni reifte "Memento Mori" während der Frühphase der weltweiten Covid-Pandemie heran; eine Periode, die auch einen thematischen Einfluss auf die Songs hatte. Die 12 Albumtracks schlagen die Brücke zwischen einer Vielzahl von Stimmungen und musikalischen Texturen - angefangen beim bedrohlichen Opener bis zur Auflösung am Schluss spannt sich das Gefühlsspektrum von Paranoia und Besessenheit bis hin zu psychischer Befreiung und Freude sowie zahllosen emotionalen Zwischentönen. Mit der Single "Ghosts Again" geht der Albumveröffentlichung von "Memento Mori" ein eindrucksvoller Vorbote voraus. Der Song stellt schon jetzt nicht weniger als einen lupenreinen Depeche Mode-Klassiker dar: Dave Gahans bilderstarke Lyrics wie "wasted feelings, broken meanings... a place to hide the tears we cry" verbinden sich über einem erhebenden, optimistischen Groove mit einer hypnotischen Gitarrenfigur von Martin Gore. "Für mich fängt `Ghosts Again` das perfekte Gleichgewicht zwischen Melancholie und Freude ein", so Gahan. "Es kommt nicht allzu oft vor, dass wir einen Song aufnehmen, den ich mir nicht nur immer und immer wieder anhören kann - ich freue mich auch riesig, ihn mit der Welt teilen zu dürfen", ergänzt Gore.

Preferring to use vintage analog gear, his classic house sound consistently packs dance floors worldwide!
Track Review: A1) ""Cosmic Groove"" This piece sends you on a trippy journey with a 'spacey' bassline accompanied with groovy drums, but the lush pads and lead synth puts this jam over the top- guaranteed to make the floor burn!
A2) ""Floating"" This is truly vintage-sounding acid with 2 overlapping powerful TB-303 patterns with NO distortion, haunting strings, and a beating drum track for extra thump!
B1) ""Falling Forever"" The mellow but depressing synth pads will definitely grab you, but the repetitive, hypnotizing bassline will keep you. Add a minimal, pounding 808 and it makes this track one to play over and over...and OVER. B2) ""Strobe Light"" A minimalist track with a basic but adequate house piano riff and a freaky synth lead. But the 'popping' claps over the pulsating 909 bass drum paired with an abnormal, repeating bassline makes this one sound like pure 90's house! A definite classic.

Some gorgeous soulful boogie tracks right here!! The French Philippe Lecauchois, better known as "Phil Boogie Times" and Claudio Casalini, the factotum of the Italian label Best Record, teamed up with the intention of carrying on their identical passion, being devoted to Boogie, Funk, Soul and " Old School Disco". There couldn't have been a better choice to start this conjunction of passions and sharing of ideals: the first 12inch, produced by Darryl Payne in 1983, sees two precious gems such as "What's the Deal" b/w "Have You for My Love" by the charming ex Salsoul artist, Carol Williams (BTBS-12001). The other reissue of Phil and Claudio is 1984's "Come Back Lover" masterfully sung and arranged by Carl Smith (BTBS-12002). Listening to these splendid 40-year-old productions again will do good to the hearts of all the followers and fans of true soul music made in the USA. Coming on a limited vinyl edition!

London-based artist Forest Drive West lands on superb Munich label Ilian Tape here with a new hand-stamped 12". He is someone who has mastered hi-fidelity minima bass music over the last few years, mostly on Livity Sound. This time out he offers four more of his intricate and masterfully designs cuts across two sides of vinyl as part of the ITX Series. As always there is a perfect balance between light and dark, physical groove and emotive synth work that pulls you in deep to his unique musical world. Do not sleep on this one.
