Das Südlondoner Speakers Corner Quartet begann 2006 als Hausband der legendären Spoken Word- & Hip-Hop-Nacht Speakers Corner in Brixton und unterstützt seitdem Musiker live und im Studio (u.a. Sampha, Kae Tempest, Tirzah, Dean Blunt, MF DOOM, Lianne La Havas). Sie verfeinerten ihr Handwerk und ihre Vielseitigkeit als multiinstrumentale Produzenten und präsentieren nun ihr Debütalbum 'Further Out Than The Edge' mit einigen der aufregendsten Namen der unabhängigen Szene: Tirzah, Kelsey Lu, Shabaka Hutchings, Coby Sey, Sampha, Kae Tempest, Mica Levi, Joe Armon-Jones, Lawfawndah, Léa Sen und mehr.

"Sunrise On Slaughter Beach" ist Clutch’s 13. Studioalbum, das im September 2022 veröffentlicht wurde. Es ist eine knallharte Zusammenfassung all dessen, was die Band großartig macht, und ein weiterer großer Sprung nach vorne in Richtung Langlebigkeit der Karriere.

Die hier vorliegende, limitierte Veröffentlichung besteht aus sechs hand gepressten 7" Vinyl jeweils in eigens hergestellten Jacken und hat drei zusätzliche Bonustracks: “Boogeyman Blues”, “Arts & Crafts”, und “Railroad Daisies”. Alle drei Songs wurden während der Aufnahmen von "Sunrise on Slaughter Beach" eingespielt. Ein 8-seitiges Booklet und eine 7" Plattenspieler Matte runden das Paket aus. Das Album wurde im The Magpie Cage Recording Studio, Baltimore, MD, von dem Grammy-nominierten Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood, Pixies) produziert und gemischt, mit zusätzlicher Technik von J Robbins (Jawbreaker, Against Me!, The Sword).

Abracadaboum is the third studio album for Bérurier Noir.

While the group went on a concert strike in the summer of 1987, they remained active and took advantage of the opportunity to record a new album with a sharp eye on world events.

The band's name alone evokes the epic of alternative rock: rebellious and committed.

Born by mistake on a February evening in 1983, Bérurier Noir soon found itself the driving force behind a vast "Youth Movement", determined to take control of its life in the face of a society that was ultra conservative at the time. Times have hardly changed.
From the first self-produced records distributed by hand to the creation of self-managed labels, from concerts in squats and wild appearances in demonstrations, on the street or in the metro to endless tours, from interviews given to fanzines and free radio stations to unclassifiable appearances in the mainstream media, Bérurier Noir has waged the most exciting war of independence in the history of French rock, with only a microphone, a guitar, a drum machine, a few red noses and patched-up theatre masks.
The last finger of honour of this turbulent and irrecoverable raia, François, Loran and their "Troupeau d'Rock" commit hara-kiri, at the peak of their glory, during three last concerts in the heart of Paris in November 1989.

Forty years after its birth, Bérurier Noir's work still resonates, whether in demonstrations or free parties, nourishing the hopes of those who wish to overthrow this world to build a truly libertarian, united and fraternal society.

The label Archives de la Zone Mondiale reminds those who missed this unprecedented adventure, 8 discographic parts of the group Bérurier Noir in the form of reissues on particularly original colour vinyls (crown finish), in a limited series and distributed throughout the year.

Four Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers" demo sessions from 1976 & 1977, compiled together on one album for the first time. The album shows the development of the band building towards their classic 1977 "L.A.M.F." album (recently reissued with a newly found original master), and further points to the direction they would have gone had they not split up. Includes "I Wanna Be Loved" from a recently discovered Master. Pressed in transparent magenta vinyl, it comes with a 12" poster of the Roberta Bayley cover photo - an outtake from the L.A.M.F. cover session, and an inner bag with the late Walter Lure interviewed by Johnny Thunders" biographer Nina Antonia in 2005. Jessica Larrabee hat mit ihrem rauhen, beseelten Gesang und ihrem intuitiven Gitarrenspiel eine sehr eigene Intensität und Präsenz. Ihre betörend schlafwandlerische Stimme ist durch und durch soulful. Ihr Partner Andy La Plant ergänzt das mit seinem direkten, wie zurückgenommenem Schlagzeugspiel kongenial. LaPlant kümmert sich dabei auch um die Produktion. "When everyone left NYC, the sewer opened and we crawled out." Prolific Brooklyn institution The Men return with their ninth studio album, 'New York City'. Arriving following 2020's 'Mercy', the new LP is released February 3rd 2023 on the group's new label home Fuzz Club Records and marks a return to the more scuzzy and abrasive rock ploughed over their decade and a half spent coursing through the grimy sewers of NYC. Here, nocturnal proto-punk meets a timeless, all-guns-blazing rock'n'roll gusto. That the album leans into a more primitive, back-to-basics sound owes largely to the way in which was forged, an earlier version of the record scrapped in favour of four people playing in a room together. "The New York City album was revised, reorganized and shaped until it became clear that things fall into place like the hammer driving the nail or the scythe's swipe through the tall grass." The end result is a series of cuts played live and recorded to 2" tape in Travis Harrison's (Guided By Voices, Built To Spill) Brooklyn studio. 'New York City' is a record that doesn't stop moving for a second, packed full of the kind of energy you can only really capture in a live setting. "These songs became the blood of the band as the band could only exist for and of these songs. There was no place else to hang their hats. Without making this record, the group would not exist, so there really wasn't another option. NYC is fluid. It means a lot of different things to all kinds of people. Deerhoof's fan-favorite breakthrough album, Apple O', gets a 20th-anniversary edition after years of being out of print in the physical realm. They say the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge was actually a pomegranate. But Pomegranate O' did not sound as catchy. Of course, knowledge of what, exactly? Could be the serene and orderly discipline of music, it could be the ability to instantaneously destroy the entire species in an apocalyptic fireball. This album is a love story. It is about Satomi's mom being a Japanese girl when Truman got that ecstatic glint in his eye and blew up chunks of her country in a mushroom cloud, and next thing you know Satomi has moved to San Francisco and taken over an American noise-rock band. It is also about a different US president with an ecstatic glint in his eye, selling a criminal invasion with lies about weapons of mass destruction. This edition of Apple O' is on vinyl the color of cotton candy accompanied by a bonus 7" of previously unreleased live recordings.

Wie? Schon wieder Kärbholz? Kam nicht gerade erst Kapitel 11: Barrikaden; und jetzt schon wieder? Wer hat sich denn da vertan?
Eine wohl kalkulierte Promokampagne oder doch ein mathematischer Totalausfall? Im Hause Kärbholz scheint mit dem ersten Lockdown der kreative Funke einen Flächenbrand ausgelöst zu haben. Abwarten was die Zeit bringt, diese jedoch nicht verschwenden war das Kredo und so hat die Band im letzten Jahr nicht nur Material für einen Longplayer komponiert. Nein, Songs für ganze zwei volle Alben sind entstanden; alle relevant und keiner, von dem man sich hätte trennen können. Der einzige Weg für Kärbholz: Double In, Double Out.
Die Songs, die in einer Episode geschrieben worden sind, wurden vor Produktionsbeginn auf die zwei Alben aufgeteilt: Kapitel 10 und Kapitel 11. Und genau in dieser Reihenfolge erfolgten die finalen Aufnahmen gemeinsam mit den Produzenten Alexander Dietz und Eike Freese. Woche um Woche wohnte, lebte und arbeitete man zusammen. Kapitel 10: WILDE AUGEN wurde fertiggestellt - Halbzeit - und ab in die Herstellung.
Weiter ging es mit Kapitel 11: Barrikaden und genau dem Moment, in dem sich alles ändern sollte...
Während der finalen Studiophase zum eigentlich zweiten Album "Kapitel 11: BARRIKADEN" machte sich dieses Gefühl breit… dieses Gefühl, das jeder hatte, aber niemand wagte:
Dieses zweite Album ist eigentlich das perfekte ERSTE Album. Dies sind eigentlich die Songs, mit denen man aus der Stille heraustreten will und sollte, die sich dafür einfach aufdrängten.
Kapitel 10: WILDE AUGEN ist rudimentärer und ungestümer. Es ist der ungezogene Bruder mit den zerrissenen Hosen. Aber auch das musikalische Bindeglied zwischen heute und gestern, erinnert es doch vielleicht am ehesten an das Album RASTLOS von 2009.

Aber was tun? Kapitel 10: WILDE AUGEN war bereits produziert. Das Vinyl lag schon auf dem Tisch. Und darauf stand nun mal: KAPITEL ZEHN! Unumstößlich und unumkehrbar. Und mag hier auch niemand als mathematisches Wunderkind gelten, 10 kommt VOR 11.

Aber wie war das noch vor ein paar Jahren…"Immer mehr Herz als Verstand…"

Also was soll's! Ihr kennt Kapitel 11? Dann lernt nun Kapitel 10, die WILDEN AUGEN kennen. Diese Augen sind hungrig, wollen mehr und drehen sich im Kreise… da kümmert es doch am Ende nicht… dieses kleine bisschen Mathematik.

Legendary New York band M'lumbo distil experiences from their pre-pandemic shamanic travels into their stunning new album The Summer Of Endless Levitation. The eight-track vinyl LP is an avant-garde take on folk music informed by painter and sculptor Jean Hans Arp's 'Biomorphic' works and it serves as a sonic renewal of self.
The cult M'lumbo collective has been a legendary and groundbreaking act since first forming in the mid-80s. They cross genre boundaries as they draw on jazz, world, electronic, rock and experimental music that escapes the commercial world and take you into another realm entirely. There is no limit to their sound; each member brings their own cultural background to the mix, making the band all the more unique.

As the coronavirus pandemic struck, three members of the band Rob Ray Flatow, Paul-Alexandre Meurens and Brian O'Neill under-took a regimen of shamanic traveling in New York City. The experiences led them to spontaneously compose and perform a suite of pieces, informed and inspired by Jean Hans Arp's works but also by the feelings of isolation and indefinite exile yet to come in their urban environment.

Compared to the works they have done as part of the larger M'lumbo band, this album is a more modest and naive affair that is "a vehicle for the renewal of feeling using only a few instruments - acoustic and electric guitar, keyboard, flute, small percussion, kalimba and clarinet - and locating a sense of both the deep sadness and uplifting powers of reverie."

'There Are No Words' kicks off with heavenly chords and organic percussion that recalls the jungle jazz of Don Cherry, then 'Shoreline' is a five-minute dub with percolating rhythms and new age melodies before the soul-soothing acoustic guitar of 'The Afternoon Levitation' blisses you out on a sunny day. The perfectly entitled 'Swoon' is another gloriously uplifting piece of musical spirituality that fuses the electronic and synthetic with the ancient and ritualistic. There is more jungle jazz, big-band horn work and cosmic synth modulations of 'Open The Heavens' while 'Quanta' is a shuffling, jumbled mix of radiant chords, wigged-out electronic lines and celestial charm. 'Planetfall' goes from free-form jazz to double-time techno and back to cathartic ambient. The final trio of tracks conjures up everything from the transcendental jazz of Alice Coltrane to the cinematic downtempo of Calm.

Brian Dougans harks back to the fundamentals of late 80s and early 90s productions, resulting in a masterclass of 303 action from a pioneer. 'Sweet Acid Sound' delivers guaranteed peak-time party material, while elsewhere tracks like 'Roached' and 'Si-rak' see Brian fusing acid and techno to hypnotic and addictive effect. Such Ferocious Beauty is vintage Cowboy Junkies and another dimension from the lo-fi Canadian band comprised of, well, family. The idea for "PORTRETY" was simple - to invite esteemed drummers to record a song that will be signed with their name. There was no musical framework - they could invite guests or record everything themselves - no need to necessarily use drums. This is how the first PORTRAITS in 2019 were created, and now we present their next installment.


" 'Part two' seems to suggest a series, so just as with the bad joke from four years ago, I'll lead with the short, age old adage: "10 musicians and a drummer". Admittedly, it is rudimentary and unfunny, however, it is significant: It's easy to forget an instrumentalist's other specialities, but here, the drummers don't let themselves to be forgotten.

This series - the brainchild of Marcin "Groh" Grośkiewicz - is composed of up-close portraits. A task which not only shifts accents, but also changes the lives of those normally considered the unsung heroes of the background. One of the tracks from "Portraits" was picked for an advertising campaign for a well known smartphone producer, others topped industry charts and inspired new bands where drums were in the spotlight.

Part two brings us eight drummers who are among the most multifaceted musicians on the Polish music scene. What are they doing here? Teo Olter tells a complex story, asking in the very title, where he is going? Wiktoria Jakubowska, known for backing big stars, shines through with her own composition. Miłosz Pękala - an interpreter of avant-garde composers and an academic lecturer - thoroughly entertains. Famous from Immortal Onion, Wojtek Warmijak energetically explores high tempos, while Wojtek Sobura - those slower, patiently sculpting a club beat with sonoristic* abstraction. Macio Moretti surprises, as expected, stylistically moving towards his hero: Zappa. Tymoteusz Papior impresses, effortlessly juggling accents and chopping time signatures. And Inferno, despite being associated with the group Behemoth, shows he can do it… drum-less. Some invite other musicians, but they always remain - as their studies or professional experience taught them to be - the musician with the widest set (be it drums or skills) on the team.

So, how does the second part of the series compliment the first? It further completes the gallery of collector's cards with Polish Percussion's superheroes and heroines. Each a different personality and an individual set of features. But does it satisfy? Strikingly.

This is how the first PORTRAITS in 2019 were created, and now we present their next installment.


" 'Part two' seems to suggest a series, so just as with the bad joke from four years ago, I'll lead with the short, age old adage: "10 musicians and a drummer". Admittedly, it is rudimentary and unfunny, however, it is significant: It's easy to forget an instrumentalist's other specialities, but here, the drummers don't let themselves to be forgotten.

This series - the brainchild of Marcin "Groh" Grośkiewicz - is composed of up-close portraits. A task which not only shifts accents, but also changes the lives of those normally considered the unsung heroes of the background. One of the tracks from "Portraits" was picked for an advertising campaign for a well known smartphone producer, others topped industry charts and inspired new bands where drums were in the spotlight.

Part two brings us eight drummers who are among the most multifaceted musicians on the Polish music scene. What are they doing here? Teo Olter tells a complex story, asking in the very title, where he is going? Wiktoria Jakubowska, known for backing big stars, shines through with her own composition. Miłosz Pękala - an interpreter of avant-garde composers and an academic lecturer - thoroughly entertains. Famous from Immortal Onion, Wojtek Warmijak energetically explores high tempos, while Wojtek Sobura - those slower, patiently sculpting a club beat with sonoristic* abstraction. Macio Moretti surprises, as expected, stylistically moving towards his hero: Zappa. Tymoteusz Papior impresses, effortlessly juggling accents and chopping time signatures. And Inferno, despite being associated with the group Behemoth, shows he can do it… drum-less. Some invite other musicians, but they always remain - as their studies or professional experience taught them to be - the musician with the widest set (be it drums or skills) on the team.

So, how does the second part of the series compliment the first? It further completes the gallery of collector's cards with Polish Percussion's superheroes and heroines. Each a different personality and an individual set of features. But does it satisfy? Strikingly.

Levellers have announced new acoustic album Together All The Way - the follow up to their 2018 Top 20 album We The Collective. The Album will be available on Limited edition Red Vinyl and CD.

The last ‘Collective’ album was recorded at Abbey Road with the legendary John Leckie 5 years ago and resulted in their highest chart position in twenty years. Levellers always planned to do more but how do you top that? Eventually they came to the conclusion to not try to top it but to go another way.

They decided to strip everything right back and go for a more traditional, folk approach. They reconvened the collective - this time with Sean Lakeman producing and Al Scott mixing - at their own Metway Studios in Brighton. Everything was recorded live, with the musicians playing through the songs until they had versions they were happy with.

Reissue of the 2011 album Tao of the Dead by American alternative rock band ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead. First time available on vinyl since its release year. Features a replica of the original comic book insert. Tao of the Dead is their seventh album. The band stripped down to its core four-piece lineup for the record, deviating from the past two records that featured a filled-out six-piece band. This resulted in a stripped-down record with heavy emphasis on guitar. It’s a two-part record, each side with a specific musical tuning; Part One in D and Part Two in F. The album can be listened to as 16 different movements or two lengthy tracks. Part One: Tao Of The Dead is split into eleven tracks, whereas Part Two: Strange News From Another Planet is five songs combined into one. Lead singer Conrad Keely described the album's composition; "It's the way I listened to albums when I was a kid, seeing as some of my favorite records were Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Yes' Relayer and Close to the Edge... I always liked listening to records that were just a continuous piece, like an orchestra or a symphony."

Svart Records proudly presents Sonny Rollins with the Heikki Sarmanto trio, in an extremely rare live performance at Finland Festival in the summer of 1972. Available for the first time, fifty years after it was initially recorded, this incredible show features Sarmanto on the Fender Rhodes electric piano, his brother Pekka Sarmanto on bass and Esko Rosnell on drums. Legend of American Jazz, “Saxophone Colossus” Sonny Rollins hand picked Heikki Sarmanto and his Finnish trio for this night of improvisation and mutual respect that culminated in years of collaboration after. The music conjured throughout this live extravaganza is everything a Jazz aficionado could have hoped for, with extensive improvisations and incredible soloing by the musicians. Two standards and one original by Rollins, which last between sixteen and twenty-four minutes, illustrate both the quartet’s vibe and supreme virtuosity. Taking place at the magnificent Finlandia Hall, an architectural marvel, which was completed only a few months earlier, and recorded by the YLE (The Finnish Broadcasting Company), this legendary concert has been expertly mastered by Pauli Saastamoinen at the infamous Finnvox Studios in 2022 to perfectly highlight the magic that was in the air all those years ago. Rollins seems to be especially in high spirits throughout the show and his powerful and expressive playing, full of humor, is simply marvelous. He even manages to quote some hints of Jean Sibelius’ “Finlandia” tone poem as a tribute to the venue. Through our tireless efforts at Svart Records to preserve our musical culture, you can now be re-introduced to an important piece in the jigsaw of Finnish Jazz history, immortalised on double vinyl gatefold and CD and both limited to only 1000 copies.

Matthew Herbert presents remixes by Floating Points, Seven Davis Jr and Herbert himslef as part of a special 12" vinyl RSD 2023 release. The remixes are of tracks from 2021's full length album Musca, an instinctive return to the ‘domestic house’ series that started back in 1998 with Around The House and the 2001's Bodily Functions.

OVERVIEW: Since the release of his highly acclaimed album "Local Valley" in 2021, Jose González has continuously released digital EP's with re-works and remixes by world-renowned electronic artists and producers. The Record Store Day exclusive 12" contains the highlights so far with remixes by DJ Koze, Sofia Kourtesis, Solomun, Roosevelt as well as surprises like the really crazy Dungen remix. The 12" comes as a strictly limited yellow vinyl with seven remixes. There are 1,500 units each for the North American and European Record Store Day.

Peaness' double EP "Are You Sure?", featuring songs from their first ever EP "No Fun" plus previous 7" and cassette releases such as "Oh George" and "Seafoam Islands" which was originally released in 2017. As a firm fan favourite, their 'Petite Pois' as they have so affectionately named their fanbase, will be over the moon that they are finally getting a repressing of this record. Deejay Jah Thomas was one of the creative figures making a dramatic impact on the Kingston sound system scene of the late 1970s and early 80s, the rhythms he laid at Channel One studio with the Roots Radics helping to steer reggae towards the emerging dancehall style. Voicing and mixing his work at King Tubby’s studio, typically with the young upstart engineer known as Scientist, Thomas was another champion in the realm of dub, his re-makes of vintage Studio One and Treasure Isle rhythms part of the process. In A Dub Explosion is a thrilling comp of tough dubs, mixed by Scientist & the King. A great listening experience!

The first album of the polish band Kristen was released by Gusstaff Rec. only in a limited edition of CD and on cassette in 2000.Kristen were one of the first who creatively transferred to Poland the fascination of the American independent guitar scene, such phenomena as math-rock, post-rock or whatever we call it.Today, they are often referred to as "one of the most important Polish alternative bands" or "the best band in the country from the circles of broadly understood independent music".The decision to reissue the debut, but for the first time on vinyl, was on the one hand dictated by the more and more frequent questions from fans, and on the other the publisher's conviction that this album has not grown old and should finally be released as it should be.

Erol Alkan further expands on his production for Duran Duran’s acclaimed 2021 studio album, ‘FUTURE PAST’, with a ceremonious, widescreen rework of the single ‘GIVE IT ALL UP’.

Recorded in London with founding members Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor, as well as Blur's Graham Coxon on guitar, ‘GIVE IT ALL UP’ also features contributions from Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo, whose soaring vocals anchor the dramatic progression of Alkan’s sensitive reinterpretation.

Blossoming in unison with Le Bon’s own iconic voice and an insistent bassline that recalls the band’s innovative ‘Night Versions’, Alkan draws closer together Duran Duran’s legendary instinct for both pop music and the dancefloor alike. Expanding on this, the 12” includes a ‘Stripped Vox’ version which appears exclusive to the vinyl edition, arranged by Alkan for his own DJ sets and proven to be a powerful tool at clubs and festivals over the past few months.

The first side cuts loose with three quick blasts. “Wispy” has the Lorax (Lori Temple Black) on bass and Dale Crover on drums, pounding one note in unison while Buzz Osborne bellows and whispers and turns his guitar on and off. “Antitoxidote” is a rabid horse galloping off into the desert, with yet more stops and starts and feedback detonations. “Hog Leg” sounds like a syphillitic Jimmy Swaggert trying to mimic Dio while being backed by a drunken ZZ Top cover band. Side Two features the side-long epic “Charmicarmicat,” with seasick waves of guitar and slow-motion madness bringing communicable disease and poisonous jellyfish ashore, stinging and infecting the unsuspecting sunbathers before gently washing out to sea again.

This was the Melvins last release before signing their Atlantic deal, and features the introduction of new bass player Joe Preston (previously of Earth, currently of Thrones). It’s one long, slow, loud blob of drones, moans and fuzztones. The opening endless power chord shimmer influenced Sleep, Sunn O))), and countless other sludge metal drone freaks for years to come.
