Die wegweisenden Alternative-Rocker von Wolf Alice melden sich mit ihrer brandneuen Single „Bloom Baby Bloom” zurück. Gleichzeitig verkündet die britische Formation Einzelheiten ihres ungeduldig erwarteten, vierten Studioalbums „The Clearing”, dessen Release für den 29. August 2025 angekündigt wurde und das weltweit auf ihrem neuen Label Sony Music erscheint.

Alle Songs wurden im Nord-Londoner Stadtteil Seven Sisters geschrieben und im vergangenen Jahr mit Grammy-Gewinner und Hauptproducer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé) in Los Angeles aufgenommen.
Mit „The Clearing“ legen Wolf Alice eine maximal selbstbewusste Songsammlung vor, die vor Ehrgeiz, ungewöhnlichen Ideen und Emotion nur so zu strotzen scheint und die eindrucksvoll veranschaulicht, wo sich das UK-Quartett im Jahr 2025 soundtechnisch verortet.

The mighty Ron Sexsmith, will release his wonderful new album Hangover Terrace. Ron is one of Canada"s most accomplished singer-songwriters. He has collaborated with Daniel Lanois, Mitchell Froom, Ane Brun, Tchad Blake, and Bob Rock. His songwriting appears on albums from Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé, k.d. lang, Emmylou Harris and Feist. Film-maker Doug Arrowsmith made an acclaimed documentary about Ron in 2010 called "Love Shines". In 2017 Ron published his first book, a fairy tale entitled "Deer Life".

Nonesuch Records ist stolz, Brad Mehldaus Ride into the Sun anzukündigen, ein ergreifendes Songbook-Album mit der Musik des verstorbenen Elliott Smith, das am 29. August 2025 erscheinen wird. Aufgenommen in den Jamdek Studios von Doug Malone (mit zusätzliche Aufnahmen von Nick Broste bei Electrical Audio) und produziert in Partnerschaft mit dem langjährigen Verbündeten Angus Andrews (Liars) zwischen Januar und März 2025, ist Animal Hospital ein Meisterwerk von Gansers Handwerk. Songs, die ihr Leben als Notizen begannen, die bereits im Jahr 2020 gekritzelt wurden (mit Ausnahme von ,stripe", einem Demo, das 2021 überarbeitet wurde), wurden hier auf Band geschliffen und in Wachs gepresst. Ganser haben ihren Sound ausgebaut, Mauern errichtet, die sich zu neuen Höhen auftürmen, und Charlie Landsman und Dove Hollis haben sich auf dem Album zusammengetan, um das Fundament zu stützen. Die Zeit auf Tour mit Künstlern wie IDLES, Mclusky und Ted Leo, sowie Shows mit Amyl & The Sniffers, Bikini Kill, Viagra Boys und so vielen anderen haben das unauslöschliche Talent, das in allen Ecken von Gansers Arbeit lauert, nur noch mehr geschärft. Musik, die sich weigert zu glauben, dass irgendetwas wahr ist, dass stattdessen alle Dinge Kraft und Geheimnisse in ihren Schatten bergen, und dass wir nur dann die unausweichliche Schönheit aller widersprüchlichen Dinge verstehen können, wenn wir uns alle auf den Boden begeben und uns einen Sinn geben.

Prolapse wurden Anfang der 90er Jahre in Leicester gegründet, heute sind die Bandmitglieder über ganz Großbritannien und Skandinavien verstreut. Nach wie vor verfolgen sie ihren ganz eigenen Sound der stetigen Wiederholung, kombiniert mit verdrehten Melodien und vereinen dabei Einflüsse von Post-Punk über Krautrock bis hin zu Folk. Zu ihren bisherigen Veröffentlichungen gehören zahlreiche Singles sowie vier Alben bei unterschiedlichsten Labels, darunter Cherry Red und Radar. Mick Derrick und Linda Steelyard liefern sich intensive Gesangsduelle, kombiniert mit heftigen, dreifachen Gitarrenattacken und stampfenden Rhythmen. Das fünfte Prolapse-Album "I Wonder When They"re Going to Destroy Your Face" erscheint bei Tapete Records und stellt die ersten neuen Aufnahmen der Band seit ihrem letzten Album "Ghosts of Dead Aeroplanes" dar, das vor 26 Jahren veröffentlicht wurde. In mancher Hinsicht aber fühlt es sich an, als hätte es überhaupt keine Zäsur gegeben. Vom ersten ununterbrochenen Riff von "The Fall of Cashline" an machen Prolapse klar, dass sie wieder da sind - immer und immer wieder (und immer und immer wieder).

The sun has finally come out. It’s the first time something like this has happened for months and months; the first glow of an approaching summer, whatever date the calendar is currently saying it is. The whole thing acts as a curative meditation, miraculously wiping away all the greyness of the past few months. Right now, optimism abounds, outlooks change and your daily soundtrack has shifted from spiky and uptight into a kind of cosmic space where songs ebb and flow and drift on like rivers run on forever towards the glimmering sea. Bliss, right?

If you’re reading this, we’re assuming that you’re the kind of person who views summer as a state of mind rather than a good looking day on the BBC Weather app. With that in mind, we reckon you already know all about Heavenly Recordings’ series of untouchable, utterly essential Balearic Breakfast compilations, each one lovingly compiled by visionary DJ, producer and broadcaster Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy - the genius club legend whose radio show of the same name (broadcast 10am to high noon every Tuesday via Mixcloud) began as an escape route from the pandemic before rapidly building a global community of dedicated Balearican listeners.

Each Balearic Breakfast album has provided a spiritual getaway from the greyness of the everyday through a handpicked selection of glorious, psychedelically coloured, expansive music. It doesn’t matter where on the planet the music hails from, or when it was made, it just matters that it fits like a jigsaw piece into the musical whole. Be it off world jazz music or vocoder led robo-disco music; whether decades old or pressed to vinyl for the first time, everything on these flawless Balearic Breakfast collections just needs to flow together and bring the listener into the sunshine, whatever time of year they’re listening.

Due for release this August, the fourth Balearic Breakfast compilation sees Cosmo take this head trip further than ever before. From the opening track’s swoop and glide that nods to Vangelis’ Blade Runner soundtrack before gliding into it’s own expansive voyage to the stars (Kandeen Love Song) to Cosmo’s own glorious Parisienne stroll through Saint Etienne’s recent Alone Together to Ilya Santana’s Spanish space disco anthem Cosmovision - a track that rolls through like a turbo powered Supernature - and the phenomenal 2015 disco version of Gloria Ann Taylor’s early ’70s classic Love Is A Hurtin’ Thing, this Balearic Breakfast offers the perfect soundtrack to the summer, whether it’s actually happening outside or just taking place in your head. Released in September 1974, the album is regarded as one of the band’s finest and featured a new line-up of the band which saw the departure of Robert Calvert and Dik Mik, but the arrival of keyboard player and violinist Simon House.Featuring such classic tracks as 'The Psychedelic Warlords’, 'Wind of Change’, 'D-Rider’, 'You’d Better Believe It’, 'Lost Johnny’ and 'Paradox’, the album was formed of studio recordings and over-dubbed live recordings made at concerts at Edmonton Sundown in London in January 1974. 'Hall of the Mountain Grill’ was another UK Top Twenty hit for the band.This new edition has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and cut at Abbey Road studios and fully restores the original LP artwork. It also features a bonus 12-inch 45 rpm EP featuring four tracks issued as singles in 1974.

„Rivière Noire“ ist das erste Album von Reginald Omas Mamode IV auf dem Kölner Label Melting Pot Music und sein erstes Solo-Projekt seit 2022.
Reginald Omas Mamode IV ist ein anglo-mauritischer Sänger, Produzent und Multiinstrumentalist. Geboren und aufgewachsen in Großbritannien, pflegt er eine enge Verbindung zur afrikanischen Insel Mauritius, der Heimat seines Vaters. Seine musikalischen Wurzeln reichen von Süd-London bis zu den Maskarenen-Inseln (Réunion, Mauritius und Rodrigues), wo seine Familie einst an den legendären „Electric Sega“-Aufnahmen der 1970er beteiligt war. Musik liegt den Mamodes im Blut: Auch seine Brüder sind als Musiker aktiv.
Reginalds Stil vereint Elemente aus Golden Era Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul, Afro, Funk sowie den traditionellen mauritischen Stilen Sega und Maloya. Man hört Einflüsse von J Dilla und D’Angelo, aber auch den Spirit von Sly Stone, Shuggie Otis oder Lee Perry. Mit vier Soloalben auf dem Londoner Label Five Easy Pieces sowie zahlreichen Kollaborationen gehört Reginald zu den prägenden Stimmen der britischen Beat- und Jazzszene. Seit 2012 wird er regelmäßig von BBC-Legende Gilles Peterson unterstützt, der seine Musik seither kontinuierlich spielt.
Gemeinsam mit seinen Brüdern Mo Kolours und Jeen Bassa sowie langjährigen Weggefährten wie Al Dobson Jr. und Tenderlonious zählt Reginald zu den Mitbegründern der 22a-Kooperative. „Rivière Noire“ markiert eine künstlerische Weiterentwicklung – fast schon eine Wiedergeburt. Zum ersten Mal verzichtet Reginald vollständig auf Samples. Stattdessen spielt er sämtliche Instrumente und Gesangsspuren selbst ein. In seinem bescheidenen Studio erschafft er organische Grooves aus Live-Drums, Drumcomputern, Perkussion, Gitarre, Fender Rhodes und Synthesizern.
Seine Musik ist Ausdruck einer tiefen Sehnsucht nach universeller Liebe und Mitgefühl. Sie reflektiert globale Herausforderungen ebenso wie persönliche Erfahrungen: wachsende Armut, politische Spannungen, ethnische Spaltungen – aber auch alltägliche Beobachtungen. „Rivière Noire“ ist Reginalds Aufruf an die Menschheit, sich ihrer Verbundenheit bewusst zu werden.

Lathe of Heaven kehren mit ihrem zweiten Album Aurora zurück, einer kühnen Erweiterung ihrer klanglichen und thematischen Palette, die sich wie eine Reihe lebendiger, emotionaler Vignetten entfaltet. "Aurora" ist eine bisher unerforschte Variante des Lathe of Heaven-Sounds, die eine delikate Balance zwischen ihren Punk-Wurzeln und einer fesselnden New-Wave- und 80er-Jahre-Post-Punk-Ästhetik bietet, die Einflüsse aus dem britischen und finnischen Post-Punk der mittleren 80er-Jahre mit subtilen Nuancen aus dem Underground-Pop der 90er-Jahre und der Gegenwart kombiniert. Students of Decay presents The Dip, a new full-length recording by Berlin-based artist and composer Thomas Ankersmit, marking his debut with the label and sixth album to date. Comprised of two expansive, sidelong pieces composed entirely on the Serge Modular synthesizer, it signals a subtle yet significant shift in Ankersmit’s trajectory, imbuing the hyper-physical, psychoacoustic intensities of his live performances with introspective, atmospheric, and even melodic elements.

Primarily known for a site-responsive approach to sound, often realized in the moment of performance, Ankersmit’s turn toward the studio in the last few years has opened up a new dimension within his practice. It is in this quiet rupture that The Dip emerged, a study in internality and suspended states, rich with cinematic undercurrents and ghostly spatial suggestion. Here, electricity itself feels transfigured – becoming supple, even organic – within an environment shaped entirely by analog signals.

Over the past two decades, Ankersmit has established himself as one of the foremost practitioners of the Serge, the notoriously idiosyncratic and expressive instrument that has remained central to his work. On The Dip, he harnesses its potential not for brute force or disorientation, but for spaciousness, resonance, and lyrical abstraction. Without resorting to additional processing or effects, he draws out tones that feel simultaneously raw and refined, articulated and blurred – intricate structures that seem to breathe and evolve of their own volition.

The result is a kind of auditory hallucination, a “cinema for the ears,” wherein impressions, emotional arcs, and imagined topographies unfold. Each side of The Dip plays like a single gesture unfolding in time – a spatial narrative constructed through vibration, density, and the movement of air.

The Dip follows acclaimed works on PAN, Touch, and Shelter Press, and reaffirms Thomas Ankersmit’s position as one of the most focused and probing voices in contemporary experimental music. Quietly radical and meticulously constructed, it is less a departure than a deepening – a descent into a more private sonic world, where the boundaries between perception, memory, and pure signal dissolve.

"Ephemeral Memory" ist das Debütalbum von Hip-Hop-Produzent, Komponist und Multi-Instrumentalist Braths, aka Thomas Horeczko, bei Sony Music. "Ephemeral Memory" ist für den 1998 in Paris als Sohn einer sudanesischen Mutter - einer Cellistin - und eines ukrainischen Vaters - einem Komponisten - geborenen Braths eine Hommage an die Geschichte seiner Familie und Vorfahren. Das Album thematisiert die Migrationserfahrung seiner eigenen Familie und die damit verbundenen, latenten Erinnerungen und komplexen Emotionen, die über Generationen fortbestehen. "Wao" ist das spontane und traumhafte neue Album von Joseph Shabason, Nicholas Krgovich und dem legendären japanischen Duo Tenniscoats. Aufgenommen an zwei ungeplanten Tagen in der Künstlerunterkunft Guggenheim House in Kobe am Meer, fängt "Wao" die Magie der reinen Improvisation, die Freude an einer sofortigen Verbindung und die stille Poesie des Alltags ein. Das Projekt begann im Frühjahr 2024, als Shabason und Krgovich zu ihrer ersten Tournee als Duo nach Japan reisten. Labelchef Koji Saito organisierte nicht nur ihre Termine, sondern auch für Tenniscoats - Saya und Takashi Ueno -, die sowohl als Vorgruppe als auch als Backing Band fungierten. Nach nur zwei Proben stimmte die musikalische Chemie auf der Bühne sofort, und ihre Auftritte wurden von Abend zu Abend flüssiger und spielerischer. In Erwartung ihrer Synergie buchte Saito während einer kurzen Tourneepause Zeit für Aufnahmen im Guggenheim House. Was dabei herauskam, ist eine Sammlung von Songs, die sich in Echtzeit entwickelt haben. Am ersten Tag schrieb Nick im Garten eine Melodie, inspiriert von japanischen Bezeichnungen für verschiedene Wolkentypen, während die anderen unwissentlich eine vergessene Tenniscoats-Melodie wiederbelebten. Stücke wie ,A Fish Called Wanda" und ,Departed Bird" entstanden in solchen Momenten, geprägt von Intuition und sanften Einwürfen alltäglicher Wunder. Zuggeräusche von den nahegelegenen Gleisen driften in die Aufnahmen hinein und wieder heraus und fügen dem luftigen, intimen Sound Textur und Lokalität hinzu. Musikalisch schwebt Wao zwischen dem zarten, experimentellen Folk-Pop von Tenniscoats und der charakteristischen Wärme und melodischen Klarheit von Shabason und Krgovich. Maxo releases his new album Mars Is Electric. Earlier this week, Maxo released a third haunting video, directed by Vincent Haycock, from the visual world of ‘Mars’ for the title track. Maxo previewed the album with the release of singles “Human?” and “Donahoo’s Chicken” this spring, which arrived with equally raw, inventive, and unnerving music videos.

Mars Is Electric is Maxo’s first official release since he dropped two critically acclaimed albums in 2023 with Even God Has A Sense of Humor and Debbie’s Son. His fifth full-length album finds the Southern Californian artist self-aware and mature. Having lived the last decade of his musical life intentionally creating specific bodies of work rooted in imagery, observation, and capturing moments, Maxo spent this previous year freely creating without a specific plan, relieved from all obligations and restrictions.

“This is the first time that I really didn’t care, I didn’t approach things so seriously,” the artist shrugs off, meaning that without expectations or specific goals, his creativity flourished. This opening finds the artist having conversations he’s been avoiding, having lived silently in the pain of those topics for the past few years. Exploring uncomfortable themes about personal life, relationships, and family fractures, life before and after the loss of innocence, and an abundance of existential spirals.

The exploration was not only thematic but also musical in nature. During the creation process, Maxo was immersed in a wide array of music from past to present - France Joli, $amaad, Steve Spacek, Cherelle, DJ Quik, Lisha G - influences that seeped their way into these songs. The album opens in a loose, dreamlike state—experimental and searching, mirroring the emotional fog of someone looking for something real to hold onto. But as it progresses, so does Maxo’s energy as he fiercely rides and weaves on songs with a contagious confidence, producing some of his most kinetic and lyrically impressive music to date.

As the work and vision coalesced into a body of work, Maxo found that he was unlocking a creative language with his collaborators that felt wholly new - a new understanding of why and how he was making art for this world. What emerged from this year-long process was a new musical journey and a future where Maxo refuses to be another bad example of what could be, refusing to mind the blueprint set down. Michael Mayer became obsessed with Erik Luebs, an American producer based in Osaka, after stumbling upon his independently released music on Bandcamp.
Luebs’ talent for creating high-energy, minimalist acid techno with impeccable, futuristic sound design swiftly earned him a regular place in Mayer’s sets. It was only a matter of time before Luebs made his debut on Kompakt’s Speicher series with this highly versatile EP.
‘Riding the Blade’ opens the four-track EP, showcasing Luebs’ signature punchy psychedelia. ‘Scarlet Viscera’ features a sleek, minimal groove that is reminiscent of the genre’s heyday in the 2000s. ‘Transform Into Glass’ emanates blissful Detroit vibes, and the EP closes with a real bang: ‘Sucked Through Tube’ creates a frenzy on the dance floor without the need for a single kick drum.

Kernaussage:'grau und 20 Jahre hinterher', war ja 'ne Mangelwirtschaft, da gab es halt nicht so viel, auch nicht Wörter. Themen des Alltags mit der Sprache des Alltags. Ob Nazi-Stress, Liebe oder machtgeile Studie-Punker, die Thematik wird auf den Punkt gebracht und die Kernaussage so oft wiederholt bis der Letzte es versteht. Der Sound von THE COCKHEADS ist zwar schlicht, aber genau das macht ihn gefährlich, er setzt sich fest und lässt nicht mehr locker. Noch Stunden nach dem Konsum wippt man in seinem Takt. Gewarnt sei hier besonders vor dem Titeltrack, sein Genuss kann als Nebenwirkung einen Ohrwurm erzeugen! Mit nur 14 Jahren begann Trelane als Backgroundsängerin bei Billy Childish und CTMF und sprang bei einer BBC6 Session als Leadsängerin für einen Ramones-Song ein. Als die Band Trelanes großartige Stimme hörte, beschloss sie, ihn bei einigen Monkees-Covers als Leadsängerin auszuprobieren. Trelane kam auf die Idee für den Bandnamen. LP1: Kicking off in magnificent style with signature songs from legendary artists: A #2 in 1976, Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’ is first up, followed by Electric Light Orchestra with ‘Livin’ Thing’, Fleetwood Mac with ‘Say You Love Me’, and 10cc with ‘I’m Mandy Fly Me’. Dr. Hook had a huge hit with ‘A Little Bit More’, and Chicago hit #1 with their all-time classic ballad ‘If You Leave Me Now’, while the side closes with Eric Carmen’s enduringly popular ‘All By Myself’. Flip the LP over for huge hits from the year – including 4 #1s: 14 years after making their UK chart debut, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons enjoyed their first chart-topper with ‘December 1963 (Oh What a Night)’, whilst Leo Sayer reached #2 in the UK, and #1 in the US with ‘You Make Me Feel Like Dancing’. Pop gems follow from David Dundas, Bryan Ferry, Sailor, Smokie – and Slik, featuring a pre-Ultravox Midge Ure reached the top with ‘Forever And Ever’. LP2: Opening with a stellar run of pure-pop classics. Elton John celebrated his first UK #1 single, in a duet with Kiki Dee on ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’, and Cliff Richard with ‘Devil Woman’, ahead of dance-floor favourites – and both #1s in ’76: Tina Charles with ‘I Love To Love’ and The Real Thing with ‘You To Me Are Everything’. More pop nuggets follow from Billy Ocean and Dana, before the side finishes with R&J Stone with ‘We Do It’ and the sublime ‘Midnight Train To Georgia’ from Gladys Knight & The Pips. Over on the second side, ‘Silly Love Songs’ gave Wings a UK #2 and became ‘76’s biggest seller in the US and opens a run of great vocalists; Neil Diamond, Daryl Hall & John Oates with ‘She’s Gone’, Paul Simon’s ’50 Ways To Leave Your Lover’ and a trio of the year’s classic rock smashes: ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ from Thin Lizzy, ‘Squeeze Box’ from The Who, and closing with the epic ‘Music’ from John Miles.



LP3: Celebrating ‘76’s dancefloor with a stunning collection of disco and soul gold: First up, Donna Summer with her debut smash ‘Love To Love You Baby’ before ‘More More More’ from Andrea True Connection and Candi Staton’s timeless ‘Young Hearts Run Free’. Melba Moore with ‘This Is It’ comes ahead of Diana Ross with the genre-defining ‘Love Hangover’, and the side is completed with huge floor-fillers from Tavares and Barry White ahead of The Isley Brothers with the soul standard ‘Harvest For The World’ and over on the final side country music is represented with Dolly Parton making her UK singles chart debut with ‘Jolene’ three years after it was a hit in the US, but it was a Dutch band, Pussycat, who hit the top with their country-pop track ‘Mississippi’. Bonnie Tyler made her chart debut with ‘Lost In France’, and ‘Forever And Ever’ gave Demis Roussos a ’76 chart topper, and an easy-listening classic, whilst Guys N Dolls had a second Top 5 hit with their cover of ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me’. The LP ends with a trio of the year’s most beautiful ballads: Gallagher And Lyle with ‘Heart On My Sleeve’, ‘Love And Affection’ the stunning singles chart debut for Joan Armatrading, and finishing with a second peerless single on this collection from Elton John with ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’.

Wayne Shorter war ein amerikanischer Jazz-Saxophonist, Komponist und Bandleader. Er wurde 1959 als
Mitglied von Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers bekannt, für die er schließlich der Hauptkomponist wurde. Er
trat 1964 dem Second Great Quintet von Miles Davis bei und war 1970 Mitbegründer der Jazz-Fusion-Band
Weather Report. Als Bandleader nahm er mehr als 20 Alben auf. Viele Shorter-Kompositionen sind zu
Jazz-Standards geworden, darunter „E.S.P.“ und „Footprints“. Seine Musik wurde mit 12 Grammy Awards
ausgezeichnet. Der Musikkritiker der New York Times, Ben Ratliff, bezeichnete Shorter 2008 als „den
wahrscheinlich größten lebenden Small-Group-Komponisten des Jazz und einen Anwärter auf den größten
lebenden Improvisator“.
Das Debütalbum des legendären Jazz-Saxophonisten, Introducing Wayne Shorter, wurde ursprünglich 1960
auf Vee-Jay veröffentlicht. Es enthält 5 Shorter-Originale und eine Coverversion von „Mack The Knife“,
wobei Shorter von Lee Morgan (Trompete), Wynton Kelly (Klavier), Paul Chambers (Bass) und Jimmy
Cobb (Schlagzeug) begleitet wird. Diese Neuauflage des Albums erscheint als Teil der Original Jazz Classics
-Serie auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl, das bei RTI gepresst wurde, mit analogem Mastering von den Originalbändern
bei Cohearent Audio und einem Stoughton Tip-On Jacket.
