All that, all at once, ALL THE TIME. You get what you"re dealing with here? No...you don"t. The only way to REALLY get it is to go to Prison -- and if you"re not from greater NYC and haven"t showed at any of the shows, here"s your best bet: their breakout album, Upstate. And whatta breakout! So high, you can"t get under it; so wide, you can"t get over it! How wide? Every song has two titles, that"s how wide. And almost everybody sings, like, all the time. That wide. Sure, you can break down the numbers -- five guys, five songs and four sides of vinyl in one gatefold sleeve -- but that won"t get you Upstate, either. Prison is the sound of everybody in the room figuring out where to go, individually and collectively. As they go through it, the meaning changes, the destination changes, the words mean something different. It"s meaning and no meaning, rising and falling, sinking and flying on the back of something massive cacophonized by three guitars, four vocals, a bass and drums. A lot of information bouncing around and enough time to really get you out of yourself! Take a look at the titles: each one a dichotomous inquest that the assembled Prison-ers march upon with fervor, glee, vengeance -- a whole spectrum of feels and perspectives woven into the jam for you to see. The Prison population changes with the seasons, and during the season this album was recorded, Sarim Al-Rawi, Mike Fellows, Sam Jayne, Matt Lilly and Paul Major were in Prison. Sarim you might know from Liquor Store, Mike"s made a bunch of scenes and records as Mighty Flashlight, Sam, who passed away in 2020 (R.I.P., brother) was in Love as Laughter -- and Paul Major you know from Endless Boogie, who Matt had roadied for -- and despite being "just a skateboarder who loves music" with no previous experience on the drums, he and Sarim inaugurated the Prison experience, like, seven years ago. Since then, it just fell together and it keeps doing so. A free thing called Prison.

Tempat Angker (haunted place) is a Halloween mixtape compiled by music researcher and artist Luigi Monteanni, aka Neurotica Exotica.

To celebrate a second year of fieldwork research in West Java and to bring together the longing for All Hallows’ Eve partying with the archipelago’s richness in local and historical horror folklore tropes, figures, characters and stories, Artetetra’s co-founder cuts up 120 minutes of soundtracks, sound effects and dialogues from the glorious and extensive Indonesian horror movies tradition counting more than 700 titles.

“The popularity of cinematic media during the New Order era led to the unprecedented development of more rapid and large-scale production methods. ⁤⁤Genre films, particularly horror and fantasy, emerged as some of the most prolific outputs, with hundreds being produced annually. ⁤⁤The filmmaking process was accelerated, and post-production ᅳ especially sound design ᅳ was completed as swiftly as possible. ⁤⁤Notably, veteran composer and musician Gatot Sudarto, who had worked extensively on drama films in the 1970s, became a regular contributor to studios producing horror and fantasy films in the following decade ᅳ although composer Embie C. Noer was also active during this period, his focus was more on action “sword and sandals” films. ⁤⁤Gatot’s influence in the music departments of these films was significant, helping to create an authentic soundscape. ⁤He adapted many of the compositional techniques used in European horror films (mostly the usage of harpsichord) at the time, blending them with the bass synths characteristic of American horror, while incorporating local and regional instruments to tailor the sound to Indonesian audiences.”

By sampling excerpts from 43 movies spanning the ages from the early seventies to the two thousand and tens, mostly trying to portrait the sound influence of the vintage horror era made popular by the “queen of horror”, actress Suzzanna, Tempat Angker throws you into decades of experimentation in conjuring the sound of Indonesian terror. Unearthly screams, bombastic fights, bamboo music, eighties synthy extravaganza, ominous sound effects, sexy dangdut, evilish pitched vocals, gamelan, eerie laughters from beyond and even calls to prayer fill the air in the spooky month!

Nat King Cole was born Nathaniel Adams on the 17th March 1917 in Montgomery, Alabama, USA. His family held a key position in the local black community with his father being pastor of the local Baptist church.

His first professional break came touring with the Broadway show “shuffle along” which eventually found its way to Los Angeles. Where Nat ended up playing at the century club on Santa Monica boulevard. This was an in-place for musicians and Nat’s already developed and incredible piano playing became a great attraction eventually forming a trio with Oscar Moore on guitar and Wesley Price on bass. With Nat’s great voice and add libs the trio were a great success in 1939/40.

In 1943 Cole signed to the infant Capitol records and began his enormous string of hits for that label and eventual amazing career partnership with the great arranger and orchestra leader Nelson Riddle. This was at the time of popular music already pioneered by Bing Crosby and latterly Frank Sinatra and something Nat would become a master of, with his by now incredible, highly developed and unique voice which we all instantly recognise.

Right up until his untimely and tragic death on 15th February 1965, Nat made a string of successful records for capitol, a string of film appearances, and the first black presenter of his own tv show, which ran for many years and introduced a whole host of new and old artists to the television screens. As is so often with people so talented, Nat’s life was short but extremely successful. He was a well loved and admired person with his vibrant and kind personality with many great friends and colleagues and made an enormous contribution to the music industry, civil rights and the world in general.

As a singer and pianist, he was exceptionally talented, and his voice will live on in immortality. His ability to express and sing any song was quite extraordinary to say the least and these recordings are a fine example of that ability. A must have for all music lovers!

Fall Out Boy kündigen So Much (For) Stardust für den 24. März an.

Fünf Jahre nach ihrem letzten Album melden sich Fall Out Boy zurück - und sie haben Sternenstaub für alle mitgebracht.

"So Much (For) Stardust" lautet der Titel des insgesamt achten Studioalbums, das die Grammy-nominierte Multiplatin-Rockband für den 24. März angekündigt hat.

"So Much (For) Stardust" stellt für die Band in vieler Hinsicht eine Rückkehr zu den Wurzeln dar. So feiern Fall Out Boy zum Beispiel eine Reunion mit dem renommierten Produzenten Neal Avron , der bereits Mitte der 2000er an drei Alben der Band arbeitete.
Dazu kommt, dass sie genau 20 Jahre nach ihrem ersten und bisher einzigen Album bei Fueled By Ramen/Elektra genau zu diesem Label zurückkehren.

"So Much (For) Stardust)" ist das erste Studioabum von F all Out Boy seit "M A N I A" 2018, das eine Grammy-Nominierung als "Best Rock Album" einfuhr und ihnen in den USA die #1-Platzierung in Folge einbrachte.

The band subsequently recorded seven BBC Radio One sessions for John Peel, Janice Long & Kid Jensen. They Signed to Chrysalis Records in 1986. The current line up came together in 2021, with the introduction of vocalist Anneka Latta with the band performing live at 'Wave Gotik Treffen' in Leipzig and 'Darker Waves Festival' in Huntington Beach, California as well as various dates in the UK and USA. Their latest album 'Light From The Dark' was recorded at Paul Weller's 'Black Barn' Studio and received critical acclaim already earlier this year.

Endlich ist das legendäre Bla Koral-Album remastered und wieder auf Vinyl erhältlich. 1991 schenkte uns das Superduo Knut Reiersrud und Iver Kleive seine unvoreingenommenen Interpretationen von Hymnen und religiösen Volksliedern. Das Album wurde von allen Seiten gelobt und gewann den norwegischen Grammy (Spellemann Music Award). Bla Koral war der Beginn einer musikalischen Zusammenarbeit, die uns bisher sechs Alben beschert hat, die alle die außergewöhnliche musikalische Handschrift des Duos tragen und alle bei KKV erschienen sind. In den letzten 30 Jahren haben sie unzählige Konzerte in ganz Norwegen und Dänemark gespielt. "Alle Musik, die uns tagtäglich umgibt, entspringt dem Bedürfnis, sich über das mitzuteilen, was uns allen unsere Gedanken und unser Leben gegeben hat", behaupten die Musiker. Zu ihrer Inspiration gehören europäische Orgelmusik, alte norwegische religiöse Volkslieder und traditionelle Chormusik aus den schwarzen Baptistenkirchen in den Südstaaten der USA. "All das ist eine fantastische Quelle, aus der man wunderbare Musik machen kann", fügen Kleive und Reiersrud hinzu.

Mit ein wenig Distanz erscheint der waghalsige Schritt logisch, unvermeidbar fast. Man muss immer weiter
durchbrechen. Die Linse, mit der man auf Dinge blicke, sei dieselbe geblieben, sagt Fizzle – nur seien es
jetzt eben andere Dinge. Andere Themen, andere Charaktere, andere Geschichten, größere Geschichten

Die rhythmischen Patterns auf den zehn Songs reichen von Trap und Afrobeats über R&B bis hin zu House
im weitesten Sinne. Dennoch klingt das Album kohärenter als alle bisherigen KK- Releases: GEZWEI ist
das Werk einer Band, keine Compilation. Da sind die vertrauten Sounds der 808, des FM8, des Juno,
mit denen KitschKrieg ihren ureigenen Inner City Blues komponieren. Da sind die wiederkehrenden Stimmen von Hunxho, Fridayy oder Mariah The Scientist, die nicht wie Featuregäste klingen, sondern wie
neue Fixsterne im KK-Kosmos. Und über allem schwebt diese leise KitschKrieg-Melancholie – weil 6am in
Germany eben jederzeit und überall sein kann.

For the first time, Headswim’s iconic second album is available on double gatefold vinyl, featuring 7 bonus tracks, including an unreleased version of their hit 'Tourniquet'! Lovingly released on double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, this deluxe re-issue features seven bonus tracks including previously un-released tracks, including a previously unheard version of their biggest hit, Tourniquet featuring a string orchestra recorded at Abbey Road Studios!

The bonus material was collated by scouring through Sony's DAT tape archives, in this process the band and label found some wonderful lost recordings. The record will be available on either limited edition blue or back 180 gram vinyl. Despite Yourself, featuring the singles "Tourniquet" and "Better Made”, was Headswim’s sophomore album and documents the development of the band maturing as songwriters. “We were aiming for longevity and believed we had written a collection of songs honestly expressing who we were, where we’d been and where we wanted to go. The album was a declaration of intent, an expression of our lived experience, a light in the dark.” Originally released on 2nd September 1997 Despite Yourself reached 24 in the UK charts and would see the band tour the USA and Europe, make “several TV appearances (including Top of The Pops), film a couple of glossy music videos and get some mainstream media attention. We’d been given a chance and we’d grasped it with both hands.

Pittsburgh’s feral punks Snarling Dogs return to bite the hand that feeds them with their debut self-titled LP Snarling Dogs.

This unhinged offering kicks out 11 revved-up, slobbering 77-esque punk tracks that will have wasted, spikey punks diving into the pit never to return. Songs like “Nothing Left” are charged and chock full of hits sounding like a demented mix of Raw Power era Stooges with the speed and aggression of The Damned or The Dead Boys. The record expands from there with songs like “Hour at a Time”- a locked in dirgy, psychedelic stroll through crime ridden city streets. CARNIVORE is an American crossover / thrash metal band from Brooklyn, New York founded by singer and bassist Peter Steele, and was formed out of the breakup of the Brooklyn metal group FALLOUT in 1982. The first CARNIVORE album was heavily influenced by the contemporary New York metal scene. It also drew inspiration from BLACK SABBATH and early JUDAS PRIEST, whereas the second album had significant crossover influences. The "post-apocalyptic" theme that dominated the first album and was carried onto parts of the second album was apparently inspired by a dream Pete Steele had and which became the basis for the lyrics of "Predator", the first song from the original album. The lyrical theme was then expanded on to describe human society ( or the lack of one ) between imaginary World Wars III, IV and possibly V (as referenced in the song "World Wars III & IV"). Other lyrical themes included nihilism, anti-religious sentiment, cynicism, and explicit but tongue-in-cheek depictions of gore and despair. Song titles such as "Jesus Hitler", "Race War", "Thermonuclear Warrior" and "God is Dead" reflect these themes. In August 2017, it was announced that CARNIVORE would officially be reformed as CARNIVORE A.D., featuring original drummer Louie Beato and guitarist Marc Piovanetti along with secondary drummer Joe Branciforte sharing drum duties and also introducing new member Baron Misuraca as the bassist/vocalist. The band then made their live festival debut at the 2018 edition of Hellfest. CARNIVORE's "Retaliation" is a legendary and authentic metal/hc crossover album and an admittedly very heavy devastating wall of music with very much tongue in cheek lyrics. It became an absolute classic in the metal genre. Thundermother-Gründerin, Songwriterin und Gitarristin Filippa Nässil schrieb die Songs für ihr neues Soloalbum während der 2022er Thundermother-US-Tour mit Whitesnake und den Scorpions. "American Diaries" ist genau das, wonach es klingt: Eine Landkarte der USA in sechs Bluesrock-Songs, gesungen einmal auf Englisch, einmal auf Schwedisch. To give you an idea of what the New Jersey, USA band Cowardice sound like, “Atavist” exists somewhere on the spectrum between the sombre strains of Bell Witch and the tormented tones of Body Void, with the first half of the album (“Suzerain”) erring more towards the bleakly melodic style of the former, while part two (“Sentinel”) shifts the focus towards a darker, dirgier approach; somewhere on the edges between melancholic doom and experimental sludge metal. Perhaps inevitably, it’s not quite that cut and dry - the gut-churning grind of “Unforgeable Key” for example, is just as nasty and gnarly as anything found on “Sentinel”, while the desolate disharmonies of “The Diminutive Principle” channel a similarly angst-ridden aura as much of “Suzerain” - but this distinction between the two halves, subtle as it may be, plays a big role in giving the whole album its sense of direction and progression.

And while it is always recommended to listen to the totality of “Atavist” so as to get the most out of it - especially if you’re a fan of the likes of Cavernlight and/or Chained To The Bottom Of The Ocean, both of whom also serve as useful touchstones for any prospective listener - also pay extra attention to the gorgeously gloomy slow-burn of opener “To The Hilt Of Humanity”, the haunting melodies and heaving grooves of the sludge-soaked “Clairvoyance Anxiety” and the morbid majesty of “Hall Of Mages”, as some of the record’s major highlights. Indeed, it’s this last track which will both test your resolve and prove, once and for all, that “Atavist” is more than worth every second you’ve invested into listening to it so far, with every crushing, cathartic chord and ringing, harmonic note… every tortured, suffering snarl and trembling, melancholy melody… coming together over the course of seventeen absolutely massive minutes to demonstrate that, despite its imposing size and intense sound, “Atavist” is nothing to be afraid of. In 1962, Gordon relocated to Paris, where he became part of a vibrant jazz community

He was already a well-established figure in the jazz world due to his groundbreaking work in the 1940s and 1950s. His decision to live in Europe revitalized his career, allowing him to continue evolving as a musician away from the struggles in the USA: he enjoyed enormous respect in Europe, which allowed him to perform freely, often in clubs and on tours, without the burdens of American racism. Paris had long been a haven for jazz musicians: artists like Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane were celebrated in Europe, and the French jazz scene, in particular, became a hotspot for both American expatriates and European musicians. Dexter Gordon quickly became one of the leading figures in that scene. Our Man in Paris is a celebrated jazz album and it is widely regarded as one of Gordon's best works. It is considered one of Gordon's finest albums due to its blend of bebop virtuosity, lyrical improvisation, and the tight interplay between world-class musicians: a classic jazz record, beloved for its authenticity and the inspired performances of Dexter Gordon and his ensemble. This album is now considered a classic in the jazz canon that's not only a remarkable album because of its flawless execution and historical significance, but it also captures a pivotal moment in jazz history where American jazz musicians were embracing new experiences and sounds in Europe and captures the essence of Gordon's bebop roots while showcasing the influence of his time in Europe.

UEVPD - Usage/Efficiency/Variance/Platform/Domain - is the solo project of Dominic Goodman, a former member of Mosquitoes and currently one half of Komare.

The self-titled UEVPD debut LP, released on 22nd November via World of Echo, consists of eight sequentially numbered electro-acoustic tracks made over approximately five years, living recordings that have morphed in shape over time, each systematically stripped back to their elemental form before being deemed complete. From the outset, Goodman purposefully deployed a relatively limited array of equipment and adopted a determinedly minimalist approach to composition, a practice in restraint that privileges detail and nuance. Field recordings, made using a combination of dynamic, condenser, contact and electret microphones, geophones and hydrophones, were allied to a basic modular/analogue synth setup, allowing for little in the way of excess or indulgence.

The results are markedly defiant, displaying an expert exercise in control and restraint that lets in little light but plays a great service to space and time. This is patient, claustrophobic sound design that bears out the value in attentive listening, a meditation on the acceptance of passing time, change, growth, death and regeneration. As such, listeners might connect associative lines with the likes of Pan Sonic and Mika Vianio’s solo work, Emptyset and Civilistjavel (who’s Tomas Bodén shows up on mastering duties here), though this remains distinctively Goodman’s vision, a continuation of his interests shown in Mosquitoes and Komare that further pushes out into the murky unknown.

»Nuts of Ay«, the thirteenth album by the Berlin-based electronic pop duo Tarwater (Ronald Lippok and Bernd Jestram), is their first in a decade, since 2014’s »Adrift«. Beautifully poised and smartly dressed, it's an album that draws Tarwater’s various pasts into a high-definition present, while bringing the duo, yet again, into productive dialogue with all kinds of fellow travellers.

Tarwater’s music has always been marked by a hypnotic pop-ness, but that’s particularly evident on »Nuts of Ay«, where a song like »Hideous Kiss« weaves together jangling guitar, pastoral flute, and flittering electronics into a gem-like construction. While the lyrics of »Hideous Kiss« are written by the duo, »Nuts of Ay« also continues a longstanding Tarwater tradition of recasting the words of others in their own mould. This time, their remit is broad: poetry from Derek Jarman (»All Nuns«) and Millner Place (»Trapdoor Spider«); lyrics from Jean Kenbrovin (»I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles«), the late Shane MacGowan (»USA«) and, again, John Lennon (»Everybody Had a Hard Year«).

This cast of found and borrowed lyricists also finds collaborative echo in the guest musicians dotted throughout »Nuts of Ay«. Schneider TM turns up on the lovely, Felt-like »Spirit of Flux«, where guitars channel the tangled reveries of Vini Reilly and Maurice Deebank into lush pop. Carsten Nicolai joins, as Alva Noto, dappling »On Waves and Years« with intimate glitching textures; he also provides the album cover art. Elsewhere, Masha Qrella appears on »Down Comes the Goose«, and actor Lars Rudolph pitches in for »USA«.

It may have been ten years since the album's predecessor, but Lippok and Jestram have kept active with other projects. They’ve collaborated with Masha Qrella, Immersion, and Iggy Pop; worked on radio plays with Kai Grehn, some based on the writing of Nick Cave (»The Sick Bag Song«, featuring Tilda Swinton, Paula Beer and Alexander Fehling) and William S. Burroughs (»The Cat Inside«); and made music for several radio-tatorts (radio plays based on »Tatort«, a long-running German police TV series) by playwright Tom Peuckert.

Both voracious and committed in their creative energies, Jestram and Lippok report back from these experiments with »Nuts of Ay«, one of their most compelling, deeply lustrous, dreamlike albums yet. They say there was no concept for the album, which is surprising, perhaps, given its holistic mood, explaining it »grew together like a coral reef in the studio over a period of several years«. There’s something to be said for letting an album gather and mutate naturally, without an overarching framework in place, and »Nuts of Ay« certainly feels like an unforced collection of material that nonetheless inhabits a similar space, one where guitars twist like driftwood next to amorphous, aqueous electronics, Lippok’s droll yet completely convincing vocal delivery riding songs that pulse and plume with curious, unpredictable rhythms.

But you can also hear elements – submerged but still present – of other music that’s inspired the duo: they’ve drawn some connections for us with psychedelic folk, Bowie in Berlin, Burial, and the film music of Popol Vuh and Krzysztof Komeda. This music shares a strong sense of place – whether in the world, or the mind – and the twelve songs on »Nuts of Ay« have such similar presence; a shared mood, a shared world, a shared sense of the possibilities of what electronic pop music could, and should, be. A bold and brave pop experiment.

Wenn sich eine musikalische Familie zusammenfindet, um eine Platte aufzunehmen, kann Magie geschehen, und genau dafür sind die VAN ZANTs da!
Die Brüder Johnny und Donnie Van Zant (aktueller Leadsänger der Southern-Rock-Ikonen Lynyrd Skynyrd bzw. Gründungsmitglied von .38 Special)
fanden 1998 zum ersten Mal Platz in ihren vollen Terminkalendern und nahmen ihr gemeinsames Album „Brother to Brother“ auf: eine Hommage an
ihren verstorbenen Bruder und Lynyrd-Skynyrd-Sänger und Gründungsmitglied Ronnie. Diese Veröffentlichung wurde von der Presse und den Fans
weltweit hoch gelobt und veranlasste das Duo dazu, 2001 ein Folgealbum mit dem schlichten Titel „II“ aufzunehmen. Die Zusammenarbeit der beiden
Brüder endete nicht, als sie mit der Veröffentlichung von Get Right With the Man„ (2005 in den USA mit Gold ausgezeichnet) und später mit My Kind
of Country“ (2007) in einen mehr Country-orientierten Stil eintauchten.
Nun erfinden sich die Brüder erneut neu und bieten ein christlich geprägtes Album an, das ihre Rock- und Blues-Wurzeln (und einen Hauch von
Country) mit einbezieht. Das Ergebnis Always Look Up“ besteht aus Songs, die das Herz und die Seele des Hörers berühren, mit einer emotionalen
Tiefe, die in der heutigen Musiklandschaft ihresgleichen sucht.

“Music is my forever cove,” writes Portland, Oregon’s Luke Wyland of the ideas that give shape to Kuma Cove, his latest album under his own name. Though named after a real place on the Oregon coast, Kuma Cove casts its gaze far beyond the sightseer’s line of vision. Recorded live in the studio and blurring obvious lines between computer-based composition and electro-acoustic instrumentation, it is an album about flow, borders, transitory states, and shelter. Composed of discontinuous ripples and repetitions (“I’m forever searching for a better descriptor than looping, which feels too simple and flattened by overuse,” Wyland says), shaped into richly emotive arcs, and informed by his experience as a person who stutters, it is also an album about identity, self-expression, and the energies that sluice through and across what we perceive as linear time—like floodwaters seeking an exit, like streams running into the sea.

Artist’s Statement:
I made this record while spending significant time in the woods by the Sandy River in Corbett, Oregon,
where I've had my studio for the last five years. It is a diary of spontaneous live recordings edited to highlight the moments of clarity that emerge from long-form improvisations. These compositions express a slowing internal rhythm. An unwinding. A somatic recalibration as I enter middle age. A newly empowered vulnerability.

Here are the internalized cadences of my stutter, flowing freely from my fingers. The musicality of my disfluency is revealed in its frictions, elongations, and foreshortenings. Disruptions in linear time, where the bubbling cadences of my stutter find unexpected pathways, reveal the elasticity of the present moment. This is my idiosyncratic language, shaped and inspired by my disability. Subliminally mirroring internal processes, neural firings, cognitive entanglements...

The title, Kuma Cove, refers to a beloved cove on the coast of Oregon my wife and I return to yearly. There has always been something so magnetic about coves. The way they cradle one from the overwhelming enormity of the ocean beyond, muting a primordial fear. I experience these improvisations as ecosystems I'm able to inhabit for stretches of time, embodying the particular rhythms and sensorial textures within each. Music is my forever cove. Everything you hear is created live in Ableton on a setup I've been honing for 15 years. I celebrate MIDI and computer music as an extension of self and strive to make it as expressive as any analog instrument. I was a visual artist for the first half of my life and quickly adapted those skills to composing and producing on a computer. The transition felt natural within the landscape of DAW's interfaces, especially as a synesthete. Ableton and its community of Max creators continue to surprise me with its expansiveness.

I'm forever searching for a better descriptor than looping, which feels too simple and flattened by overuse. I envision sonic loops as tangled masses of time, three-dimensional knots spinning on tilted axes, or overlapping wreaths refracting out a myriad of colors. My practice is continually refocusing my ear to what is revealed in the repetitions, searching for the fingerprint of each. I find it incredible how technology lets us manipulate time like this. Nothing on this record is quantized or locked to a universal bpm. Experiencing numerous tempos at once feels important. Recordings as mirrors. Freedom from expected (conversational) flow as we hold time for each other.

Luke Wyland is an interdisciplinary artist, composer, and performer based in Portland, OR (USA). Wyland has been releasing critically acclaimed records for the past 20 years in the groups AU and Methods Body, as LWW, and under his own name, working with such labels as New Amsterdam, Beacon Sound, Balmat, The Leaf Label, and Aagoo Records. As a person who stutters, Wyland’s approach to music is informed by his idiosyncratic relationship with language. Wyland believes deeply in the cathartic power of live performance as a means for collective healing. Through an interdisciplinary art practice that focuses on improvisation, somatic embodiment, bespoke tuning systems, the cadences of disfluent speech, and time manipulation technologies, he’s collaborated with choreographers, high-school choirs, filmmakers, sound designers, and renowned musicians such as John Niekrasz, Holland Andrews, Colin Stetson, and Abraham Gomez-Delgado. He’s also the co-creator of the “It’s A Fucking Miracle” dance class with Tahni Holt.
Wyland has toured nationally and internationally and performed at the Whitney Museum, Ecstatic Music Festival, Issue Project Room, PICA’s Time-Based Arts Festival, End of the Road Festival, and Les Nuits Botanique, among others.

Es gibt mehr als eine Art, BEBORN BETONs neuntes Album "Darkness Falls Again" zu hören: Es lässt sich einfach nur tanzen und als zeitgenössische Synthie-Pop-Hymnen genießen, die musikalisch fest in den goldenen 80ern verankert sind - und mit einer Prise leckerer 90er-Einflüsse serviert werden. Eingängige Melodien und ausgereiftes Songwriting verbinden sich zu einer klanglichen Spritztour. Doch BEBORN BETON legen ihren Finger auch auf den Puls unserer Zeit. COMET GAIN hatte sich 1997 eigentlich aufgelöst, aber David Christian wollte den Traum nicht sterben lassen und machte weiter. Alter Name, neue Band. Und ein neues Album! "Tigertown Pictures" wurde erstmals 1999 von Fortuna Pop in UK/EU und Kill Rock Stars in den USA veröffentlicht und wird nun von Tapete Records weltweit neu aufgelegt. "Tigertown Pictures" ist ein wilder Ritt durch alles, was mit Post-Punk, DIY, Indie-POP, internationalem Pop-Underground, Lo-Fi, Garagebeat und Folk & Rock zu tun hat., Boy-/Girl-Gesang, kratzige Gitarren, süßer Lärm und raue Melodien, Enthusiasmus und Schmerz, sogar einige undefinierbare elektronische Klänge. Es ist alles da. "Tigertown Pictures" ist eine dieser Platten, die man auflegt und sich endlich wieder lebendig fühlt.

For the first time two single records of Baksey Cham Krong - the first Cambodian guitar band - are officially being reissued in an identical version. Between surf music and ballad, these two records released in 1963 and 1964 are an invitation to rediscover the effervescent Khmer musical scene of the 1960s.

The early 1960s are often described as the “golden age” of Cambodia, with a flourishing economy and a strong cultural development. As the country had just won its independence, the King Norodom Sihanouk - who had been a singer himself (see below) - encouraged dynamism and creativity in all aspects of cultural life.

In 1959, in the midst of this artistic turmoil, Mol Kamach and his brothers created a band: the Baksey Cham Krong (also spelled Bakseis Cham Krung) named after a temple of the Angkor site. The teenagers were influenced by the latest hits they had listened on the radio. For the music, Kagnol got his inspiration from the rock n’ roll of the Ventures and the Shadows while Kamach took over the vocal techniques of crooners such as Paul Anka. The lyrics were either in French (as for the song Ne penser qu’à toi) or in Khmer. The song Pleine Lune became a hit and revealed Kagnol’s musical genius at playing guitar and Kamach’s delicate voice. From their beginnings on the capital’s high school stages to their first broadcasts on national radio, the success of the Baksey Cham Krong was very quick. At the end of the decade the band already split, the brothers getting back to activities that conformed more with their parents’ expectations.

A few years later, in April 1975, the arrival of the Khmer Rouge in Phnom Penh put an end to this musical development and started the darkest era of Cambodia’s contemporary history. A quarter of the population was killed in the Khmer Rouge genocide and the majority of artists and intellectuals were exterminated in a sordid will to wipe out any form of culture in the country. Films and music were banned, movie tapes and vinyls were destroyed. Mol Kamach and Mol Kagnol luckily managed to flee the country: one now lives in France, the other in the USA. Both still continue to make music nowadays.

Bearing witness to the past history, the reissue of these two single records of Baksey Cham Krong brings back to us the Cambodian musical scene of the 1960s.

Geburtstag hat Lucky Love bereits 1.000 Leben gelebt: Schauspieler, Tänzer, Drehbuchautor, Schriftsteller, Model, er trat als Sänger in der Kabarettgruppe von Madame Arthur auf, bevor er eine außergewöhnliche Solokarriere startete. Seine erste Ep öffnete ihm die Türen zu einer internationalen Tournee, die ihn in so unterschiedliche Länder wie Georgien, Lettland und die USA führte. Der Grund: der Titel "Masculinity", der zusammen mit seiner sonnigen Ausstrahlung die Herzen von Millionen von Menschen vom ersten Hören an berührte. Das Debütalbum "I don"t care if it burns" ist nun endlich in dern Startlöchern, und es ist genau wie er: leuchtend! 13 Tracks, gemischt mit Gospelchören, die Unterschiede überwinden und die dunklen 80er mit den unbeschwerten 60er Jahren versöhnen, für einen originellen Cocktail des Jahres 2024, der den Nerv der Zeit trifft! Es ist schwer, sich dem Charme des Debütalbums von Lucky Love zu entziehen: eine Einladung zu Toleranz und Brüderlichkeit, die uns alle verbindet.

Auf ihrem zehnten Langeisen zeigen sie mehr Bandbreite denn je und begeistern mit einer wilden Achterbahnfahrt durch punkige Hymnen wie dem Titelsong "Choices Made In Anger" oder den eingängigem "Liberty Cuffs", über gute Laune Rock’n’Roll ala "Sun‘s up, tops down" bis hin zu klassischem Hardrock wie "Rock Above Love" oder dem überragenden Abschluss des Albums "Sing Like You Mean It“. Melanie Thornton wurde 1967 in South Carolina, in den USA geboren und interessierte sich schon früh
für Musik. Ihren Vorbildern, wie Aretha Franklin oder Roberta Flack nacheifernd, nimmt sie schon mit 11
Jahren Gesangsunterricht. Ihre größten Erfolge feiert sie gemeinsam mit D. Lane McCray Jr. als weltweit
erfolgreiches Dancefloor-Duo La Bouche.
Im Jahr 2000 startet sie dann ihre Solo-Karriere mit ihrem ersten Hit „Love How You Love Me“. Nur
kurze Zeit später folgt der heutige X-Mas-Klassiker „Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming)“ im Zuge
einer massiven Weihnachtskampagne für Coca-Cola.
Ein Jahr später, 2001, verstarb Melanie Thornton dann bei einem tragischen Flugzeugunglück in der

Sdban Records präsentiert unveröffentlichte Radioaufnahmen
von 1967 des serbischen Jazztrompeters, Komponisten und
Bandleaders Dusko Goykovich (1931-2023). Zu diesem
Zeitpunkt hatte er sich endgültig als einer der profiliertesten
Jazzkünstler Europas etabliert.
Goykovich wurde in Jajce, Bosnien und Herzegowina, damals
Teil des Königreichs Jugoslawien, geboren. Er studierte von
1948 bis 1953 an der Belgrader Musikakademie, spielte
Trompete in Dixieland-Bands und trat im Alter von 18 Jahren
der Big Band von Radio Belgrad bei. Nach seinem Umzug
nach Frankfurt 1956 etablierte er sich in der westdeutschen
Jazzszene, wo er mit Kurt Edelhagen und Kenny Clarke &
Francy Boland spielte. Mitte der 60er Jahre kehrte Goykovich
nach einem USA-Aufenthal nach Europa zurück und stellte der
Welt bald seinen innovativen Balkan-Jazz-Sound mit Swinging
Macedonia (1966) vor, einem Album, das durch
melancholische Melodien und anspruchsvolle Rhythmen
gekennzeichnet war.
