Ihre psychedelisch angehauchten Kreationen waren stark von Deep-Funk und lateinamerikanischer Musik beeinflusst und enthielten weitere kaleidoskopische Soundinfusionen wie Soul, Calypso, Afro-Cuban, Reggae und Salsa. Von DJs weltweit gesamplet (inklusive DJ Shadow), ist diese remasterte und auf audiophiles Virgin-Vinyl gepresste Reissue ein Muss für jeden ernsthaften Latin-, Funk- oder Rare-Groove-Sammler.

Django Reinhardt gilt als einer der größten Gitarristen aller Zeiten und als erster Jazzgitarrist Europas, der Einfluss auf Kollegen wie Barney Kessel, Charlie Byrd, Wes Montgomery, Jeff Beck, Jerry Garcia, Tony Lommi und Willie Nelson hatte. Aufgrund seiner körperlichen Behinderung spielte er hauptsächlich mit Zeige- und Mittelfinger und erfand so einen einzigartigen Gitarrenstil. Seine Virtuosität, geprägt von der Musik der Roma, wurde von einem hervorragenden Gespür für melodische Erfindungsgabe, Musikalität, Timing, Swing und Dynamik begleitet. Django spielte ausschließlich nach Gehör, da er weder Noten lesen noch schreiben konnte. Die Swing-Compilation "Golden Classics" enthält eine Auswahl seiner besten Aufnahmen, alle sorgfältig remastered.

"What Lies Beneath" ist das zweite Studioalbum der fi nnischen Künstlerin Tarja. Ursprünglich 2010 veröffentlicht, ist es mit Hits wie "Until My Last Breath", "I Feel Immortal" und "Falling Awake" ein echter Fanliebling und bis heute eines ihrer erfolgreichsten Alben. Die 2024 Re-Issue ist als "2CD Deluxe Digipak" und, zum ersten Mal, als "Heavyweight 2LP Vinyl" (Gatefold, 180g, schwarz) erhältlich. Beide Formate bieten ein wunderschön restauriertes Artwork, und alle Tracks wurden bei Sterling Sound remastered.

Das macht die 2024 Re-Issue zum ultimativen "What Lies Beneath"-Erlebnis. Das 2CD Deluxe Digipak enthält außerdem 15 weitere Songs, darunter alternative Versionen, Single-Edits und Remixe. Viele davon wurden bis heute noch nicht physisch veröffentlicht. Außerdem enthält es den Track "The Good Die Young" von The Scorpions & Tarja, welcher ursprünglich nur als Bonustrack auf dem 2010er Ltd. "Dreamers" Boxset enthalten war.

Weniger rau als beim Album davor, fast schon ein wenig poppig, bewegen sich die acht Songs zwischen Indierock, Psychedelic, Americana und Postpunk. Düster-sphärische Soundflächen wechseln sich ab mit krachig-dissonanten Ausbrüchen ("Drift", "Passerby"), bisweilen lugt gar Nick Cave um die Ecke ("The Blanket"). "The Beauty Of Dysfunction" ist kein Konzeptalbum - aber der Titel könnte ein Leitmotiv für die Lyrics zu den Songs sein: Es geht um Brüche, um Widersprüche, um Risse auf der Oberfläche - sei es in Liebesbeziehungen ("Easy Care"), in Lebensentwürfen ("All we've ever had (was enough)") oder dem Verhältnis zwischen sogenannten Minderheiten und der "Mehrheit" ("Difference"). Auf der anderen Seite die vielen Scharlatane, die sich "Lifecoaches" nennen und im Netz oder in hochdotierten "Keynotes" ihre Selbstoptimierung als Ersatzreligion vermarkten ("Ode to Excellence"). Und nicht zuletzt die Scheißpopulisten, die einem weismachen wollen, dass alles doch ganz einfach ist ("Habits"). Ist es nicht. Es ist schwierig. Leben - und lieben - heißt, die Dissonanz zu akzeptieren, die Schönheit im Unperfekten zu erkennen.

Morgan Harper-Jones surft gerade auf einer kleinen Erfolgswelle. Erst Ende September erschien der Netflix #1 Hit “Love At First Sight”, bei dem Morgans Musik eine gewichtige Rolle spielt und sie sogleich in die Top10 der globalen Shazam Charts katapultierte. Nun kündigt die Singer-Songwriterin aus Rochdale (England) ihr Debütalbum über Play It Again Sam an: “Up To The Glass” erscheint am 12. April als Coloured Eco Vinyl. Ihr Debütalbum ist eine zarte Erkundung der Selbstfindung in den Zwanzigern vor dem Hintergrund von Liebe, Selbstakzeptanz und Verlust. Es dokumentiert diese allgemein prägenden Momente des jungen Erwachsenseins durch das Prisma von Morgans eigener Perspektive und erforscht zutiefst persönliche Themen wie das Ableben ihrer Großeltern, das ängstliche Nachdenken über jeden kleinen Fehler und die Sehnsucht nach einer Liebe, die unerwidert bleiben wird.

Die aufstrebenden Modern Metalcore Durchstarter SETYØURSAILS legen mit ihrem zweiten Studioalbum Bad Blood nach. Darauf entfesselt die Kölner Band, bestehend aus Jules Mitch (Gesang), Andre Alves (Gitarre), Henrik Kellershohn (Bass) und Nicolai Hoch (Schlagzeug), einen mitreißenden Sound, der kompromisslose Breakdowns mit elektronischen Einflüssen verbindet. Girl In Red wurde von der internationalen Presse gefeiert und trat auf den größten Festivals der Welt auf, darunter Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Rock En Seine und das Montreux Jazz Festival. Die junge Norwegerin, die in ihren Songs Themen wie Vertrauen, Kritik, Selbstwertgefühl und Verletzlichkeit auslotet, veröffentlichte kürzlich "Too Much", einen sehr persönlichen Song mit Pop-Melodien, die mitten ins Herz treffen. Es handelt sich um einen Vorgeschmack auf ihr neues Album "I'M DOING IT AGAIN BABY", das zusammen mit Matias Tellez produziert wurde und am 12. April 2024 erscheinen wird.

Fast ein halbes Jahr ist es her, seitdem Kanadas Rüpelrocker DANKO JONES das letzte Studioalbum „Electric Sounds“ auf die Menschheit losgelassen hat. Songs wie „Guess Who's Back“, „Get High?“ oder „Good Time“ haben sich seither als Ohrwürmer etabliert und die Band konnte mit Platz 18 in den deutschen Albumcharts sowie mit der Spitzenposition der deutschen Rockradiocharts mit „Guess Who's Back“ einige Erfolge feiern.

Es markiert eine neue Wendung in der DEATH-Diskografie, die eine sauberere Produktion, ein neues Maß an grenzüberschreitendem musikalischem Können und Songwriting-Fähigkeiten einleitete, die zuvor von einer Metal-Band unvorstellbar waren. Spiritual Healing setzt den Standard für Riffs, verrückte Taktwechsel und natürlich die meisterhaften Gitarrensoli von Frontmann Chuck Schuldiner.

Wenn es eine Band gibt, die eine klassische Herangehensweise mit innovativen Ideen und einer unbändigen Spielfreude verbindet, um ihren Vorbildern (den frühen Exodus, Metallica oder Slayer) die Ehre zu erweisen, dann sind es die deutschen Heavy Metal-Helden VULTURE. Auf ihrem vierten Album "Sentinels", das am 12. April über Metal Blade Records erscheinen wird, beweisen sie einmal mehr, dass sich Tradition und Weiterentwicklung nicht ausschließen, sondern im Gegenteil zu etwas Außergewöhnlichem führen können, das keinen Headbanger unberührt lässt.

Blue/Black Marble Vinyl, limitiert auf 200 Exemplare. ARROW MINDS sind eine melodische Metalcore / Hardcore Band aus Rostock, Deutschland. Sie wurden in einer kalten Winternacht im Jahr 2016 gegründet. Wenn du Bands wie Strike Anywhere, Avail oder Architects magst, wird diese Band deine Welt auf den Kopf stellen. Ihr neues Album ist ein großer Schritt nach vorne im Vergleich zu ihrem letzten. Man merkt, dass diese Band ihren musikalischen Weg gefunden hat. Ihre kraftvollen und aussagekräftigen Songs repräsentieren alles, wofür eine moderne Metalcore-Band stehen sollte - schnelle, aggressive Melodien, die zu eingängigen Hooks führen; mit Texten, die nicht versuchen, nur leere Parolen raus zu hauen, sondern vielmehr notwendige Fragen stellen und Statements setzen.

Fenriz (Darkthrone), Apollyon (Aura Noir, Lamented Souls) und Bestial Tormentor (Infernö, Lamented Souls) haben sich zusammen getan und unter dem Banner Coffin Storm mit dem Album Arcana Rising 6 epische Doom Metal Track geschaffen die an den Spirit von Candlemass, Pentagram oder Cathedral perfekt eingefangen haben.

Rotterdam based artist ''Ben Buitendijk'' has been around for quite a while now. With a string of releases of labels such as ''Ogun Records'', ''Eshu Records'' and appearances on the mighty ''Field Records'', the time has come for Ben to launch his own imprint. Inspired by the city of Rotterdam and his love for anything architectural, Oblique was founded. A label that is designed to cater to Ben's vision on the overall electronic landscape and to display his love for well thought out drum patterns with dense long-stretched builds and strained atmospheres.

''Venomous EP'' comes in a package of three extended techno cuts with a certain corresponding theme. As the title might suggest, all cuts have a certain
touch of hazardousness to them.

''Black Mamba'' is best explained as the experience of poison slowly creeping through one's veins and leaving an irreversible trail of destruction.

''King Cobra'' feels more boisterous than it's predecessor. Again, a long repetitive build keeps on changing into a slightly psychotic state of being while razor-sharp bits of synthesis tickle the listeners brain like when undergoing acupuncture.

''Stingray'' is the final cut of this first ''Oblique'' effort. Whilst maintaining the corresponding ''Venomous'' theme, the last endeavour is a thumping outcry of muscular drums, a ponderous bass shot, and haunting pad sounds that together create a dystopian character. As an extra, Ben has thrown in an ominous locked groove that should be useful in adventurous club settings.

Three emotional years in the making, Be With and Efficient Space finally present Steve Hiett’s Girls In The Grass. Pressed alongside the long awaited reissue of his one-shot masterpiece Down On The Road By The Beach, these ten balearic soul instrumentals are of equal necessity; unrivalled beauty rescued from the fashion photographer-guitarist’s Paris Tapes (1986-1997).

While recordings unintended for release should often be approached with caution, this is a rare case of unheard material being assembled as an indispensable and coherent piece. Girls In The Grass is something super special. The light and shadow that defines Hiett’s music is arguably more compelling here. It speaks to us in a language that feels profound, yet entirely comforting and familiar.

Girls In The Grass reintroduces Hiett’s languid electric blues boogie, crafted on Saturday afternoons with fellow art director Simon Kentish. Kentish would cook, pour some wine and then utilise his arsenal of technology. He’d dial up a chugging rhythm, together with some ambient pads or keyboard textures, and anchor the weightless gauze of Hiett’s six-stringed touch.

Hiett’s guitar sings with the same clean, crisp tone as Down On The Road, animated by a carefree weekend groove. Unlike his defining album which was boiled under pressure, these subsequent sessions have all the time in the world. The naïve melodies chart a missing link between Vini Reilly’s ventures into electronica and Booker T, sounding like sun-warped takes on wordless, fractured non-hits from his heroes The Beach Boys.

Remastered for public pleasure by Simon Francis, these private moments are adorned with Hiett’s singular photography and feature typically idiosyncratic liner notes from Mikey IQ Jones

This album was the first from a man who quite simply changed the face of music. Originally released on Chess Records in Chicago in 1957, it underlined the value that the company placed on him. They realised that they had a star on their hands, and they were most certainly right. Hard to credit, but this ground breaking album was never issued at the time in England, though Chuck's second album 'One Dozen Berrys', was. Both albums are extremely collectable on both sides of the Atlantic and together command high prices for they represent the very best of his early material, the songs that he is best remembered for. This is certainly one to love andtreasure.

After the release of the first volume of music selected by Klinkhamer Record shop owner Michel Veenstra in 2022, the anticipation and expectation amongst the heads for a follow up compilation has been building. Now BBE Music can announce that Klinkhamer Volume 2's
collection of music from the 70's and 80's is ready to add to the series.

An eclectic selection of tracks which crosses genres and styles, Michel has once again curated a compilation album of music that will appeal to the heads, the collectors and the lovers of the groove. A melange of folk, Jazz and funk for the headphones and the dancefloor, Klinkhamer juxtaposes instrumentals with vocal tracks in English, Swedish and French over a double vinyl release and a track order that creates as much a journey as a flow.

Michel, alongside his brother Stephen, is the owner of the Klinkhamer Record shop in Groningen and a regular trader at the globally known Utrecht Record Fair since the 1990s. Welcome back to Demon’s ‘Disco Discharge’ series, originally issued in a series of 2CD collections between 2009 and 2012. The themed compilations of full-length, extended Disco originals, lovingly curated by the mysterious “MrPinks” and with detailed sleeve notes by author and Disco aficionado Alan Jones, have remained in-demand among collectors and the club cognoscenti. This time around, the series kicks off with ‘Classic Disco’ and ‘Disco Fever USA’. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, ‘Classic Disco’ mixes 12 undeniable dancefloor landmarks on 140g orange vinyl, from recognizable names like Change, Manhattan Transfer and Cheryl Lynn, with deeper cuts from exotic names like Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band (an early incarnation of Kid Creole!), The Peter Jacques Band and Double Discovery. And as if to prove a cool Disco track could come from anywhere or anybody, ‘Classic Disco’ also features an essential re-edit by The Glitter Band!

With time, we come to understand the way the joy of connection is mirrored by the void of loss, how the constancy of love is matched only by the impermanence of life, the simple idea that we could not create light if we did not risk the dark - we'd never need to. So it is with METZ, a band once known for blowing out eardrums with songs of joyous rage who have, over their past few records, begun exploring ways to turn abrasiveness into atmospherics, the evolution of their sound not only a reflection of the maturing of the band themselves but also of a changed world that demands nuance and compassion to comprehend and to survive. It was a journey already underway on 2020's Atlas Vending, but one that reaches new heights on Up On Gravity Hill, where the Canadian trio creates a kaleidoscopic sonic world as tender as it is dark, aided once again by engineer Seth Manchester (Mdou Moctar, Lingua Ignota, Battles, The Body). Deep, detailed, and unyieldingly personal, it is not only METZ's most powerful record to date but also their most beautiful. Still three punks from Ontario at heart, guitarist and vocalist Alex Edkins, drummer Hayden Menzies, and bassist Chris Slorach waste no time as opener "No Reservation/Love Comes Crashing" sweeps in like a wave, sonically and thematically setting the scene for the record to come. It is indeed, courtesy of composer Owen Pallett; his presence an immediate indicator that METZ are thinking more cinematically than ever before. The change is partially inspired by Edkins' work as a scorer for film and television and his pop-leaning solo project, Weird Nightmare, where, he says, he learned to write more intuitively, letting his emotions lead the way. But make no mistake: Up On Gravity Hill is a total band effort, the work of three musicians who have been playing together for over a decade, with all the trust that entails. For those who believe in the power of the rock band to exemplify the highest resonance of human connection, there is much on Up On Gravity Hill to lift the spirit, a puzzle worth repeated listening to unlock or just to get lost in again and again. Rather than the music being flattened into a single plane, the band explores "the space above the cymbals," resulting in some of the most spacious, sympathetic, and accessible songs - could we call them pop? - of their career. If this seems contradictory, well, METZ has always been something of a contradiction. "We've never been heavy enough for metal or hardcore purists, but we're way too heavy for indie rock. We just don't have a lane - and that's okay. We exist outside the lines of delineation. I think this record is even more like that," says Edkins.

Artistically, Datashader seeks to critique the impact of technology on human identity and relationships, breaking with an archetype of digital conformity and expressing a profound disillusionment with the superficiality of online interactions through music. Genuine human connection and art cannot be quantified by likes, comments, or followers but rather thrives in the visceral realm of shared sonic experience and human emotion. This idea is at the core idea of Datashader, whose artistic expression ranges from avant-garde composition and electronic experimentations to art, installation, film and more.
Expressed within the varied contexts of diverse artistic mediums, Datashader explores the concept of “technological gentrification”, which describes the gradual displacement of human interaction by technology. Just as gentrification alters the urban landscape, driving out communities and cultures, digital gentrification transforms the social landscape, replacing genuine connection with curated online personas.
Musically, Datashader’s practice confronts this dystopian reality, highlighting the alarming consequence of people becoming mere nodes in a network, reduced to a collection of data points. This is manifested sonically by a blistering assault of breaks, recontextualized IDM, abstract electronics and otherworldly synthscapes, conceived as the aesthetic counterbalance to much of contemporary electronic music’s dancefloor focus.
Datashader dives deep into genres and influences which stand for a form of sonic resistance: A contemporary anti- soundtrack – a sonic mirror of the price we pay for convenience and instant gratification. A self-image in constant flux. No false technological idols.

Following two revered albums, ‘Dissolve’ in 2017 and ‘Avalanche’ in 2019, London-based electronic songwriter and producer Tusks, aka Emily Underhill, has returned with her third: ‘Gold’.

‘Gold’ took form slowly over several months spent rewriting and reworking; half created at home in the middle of London and half during two solitary trips to Devon, where many of the songs found their inspiration. In need of some space, away from a shared house that had just been through a pandemic together as well as from a relationship that was coming to an end, she travelled to the south-west. It was here that she would get the bulk of her writing done, recognising there were some things she would have to work through alone, and in no small part it came to her in the form of a torrential storm. Bringing the album back to London, Tusks partnered with producer Tom Andrews to bring the tracks to life from studios like Ten87 in Tottenham and SS2 Recording in Southend.
