Craft Recordings kündigt eine Edition zum 60-jährigen Jubiläum von The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra an.

Das Album aus dem Jahr 1962 ist ein herausragender Titel im umfangreichen Katalog des AfrofuturismusPioniers und innovativen Jazz-Künstlers und markiert Sun Ras erste Aufnahme mit seiner Band The Arkestra in New York, nachdem er von Chicago nach New York gezogen war. Produziert von Tom Wilson (der unter anderem für Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground und die Mothers of Invention arbeitete), gilt The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra seit langem als eines der zugänglichsten Alben des Avantgarde-Künstlers.

To celebrate Spider-Man’s sensational 60th anniversary, Marvel Entertainment partnered with Semmel Exhibitions to launch Spider- Man: Beyond Amazing - The Exhibition, which chronicles the epic history of the ‘wall crawler’. The exhibition runs from May 26, 2023 through October 1, 2023 in Kansas City, and premiered at the Comic- Con Museum in San Diego where it ran from July 1, 2022 through January 1, 2023.

For this historical display, a soundscape was needed to reflect Spidey’s emotional ups and downs: his moments of isolation and loneliness, but also his courage, determination, and the sheer joy of web-slinging. This is where Sebastian M. Purfürst of LEM-Studios came in. To create a soundtrack that would engage visitors in every single moment of the exhibition, Sebastian employs parallel techniques in his musical compositions and productions - not only writing the notes and melodies but creating a fully realized world of sound.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing - The Exhibition is available as a strictly limited edition of 2500 individually numbered copies on crystal clear vinyl with a full-colour Spider-Man print on its side B. The package also includes a 4-page booklet and large exhibition poster.

Out on 6 October, the music for Certainty of Tides was initially recorded with the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra with Nils Petter Molvaer as a soloist in 2020. He had asked several wonderful Norwegian composers to arrange a set of music from his back catalogue. “Have a listen to the recordings I did with the orchestra and tell me what you think” he told Norwegian composer, musician, and producer Jan Bang. Since the original recording was close mic’ed for broadcasting purposes, Bang saw an unfulfilled potential in the material due to lack of space in the initial recordings.
Bang came up with the idea of re-amping the mixes playing the music through speakers in a concert house followed by re-recording of the result through distant microphones. With 76 speakers (one per instrument) carefully placed exactly like the orchestra would have been seated onstage, Certainty of Tides was recorded from microphones strategically placed in the large hall of Kilden Concert House with phenomenal acoustics.
The re-amping and re-recording produced astonishing results. Some of the pieces needed additional color. Bang invited two of his highly talented electronic music students at the University of Agder (Kristian Isachsen and Even Sefenias Sigurdsen Frodesønn Røsstad). Both given freedoms to create their own sound based on their own personal taste.
The final mixes were put together by Øyvind Kurszus at Kilden Studios supervised by both students, Molvaer and Bang. Helge Steen has mastered the recording. Knut Sævik has re-sampled the drum track (played by Peter Baden) on “Simply so” and mixed the Song as well.

Die schwedische Band Samling wird im Herbst 2023 ihr viertes Album mit dem Titel "Autisten" auf dem Berliner Label Robotor Records der deutschen Rockband Kadavar veröffentlichen. Das Album verspricht eine Fülle abwechslungsreicher Tracks voller Melodien und Hooklines.
Samling ist die Idee des Singer-Songwriters Max Groundstroem, dessen Mix aus Pop, Rock und schwedischer Neo-Psychedelia ihnen einen Platz in der skandinavischen Musikszene eingebracht hat. Die Musik ist für ihre großartigen Hooklines, Melodien und Grooves bekannt und nutzt oft Humor, um Gefühle der Isolation und Entfremdung lyrisch auszudrücken.
Das neue Album "Autisten" wurde über einen Zeitraum von fünf Jahren produziert, was einen starken Einfluss auf den Gesamtklang und das Feeling der Platte hatte. Mit der Zeit kommen auch Veränderungen und neue Erfahrungen, die verwirrend sein können, wenn das Ziel ein klanglich und textlich konsistentes Album ist. Sechs lange Jahre mussten Fans auf ein neues Album der amerikanischen Metal-Band Prong warten. Die Gründe: die Pandemie mit all ihren Unsicherheiten und Verwerfungen, aber auch erfreuliche Ereignisse im Privatleben von Sänger und Gitarrist Tommy Victor.

Doch nun sind Prong zurück, und zwar mit einem wahren Paukenschlag: ‚State Of Emergency‘ ist das erhofft fesselnde Werk geworden, mit der gewohnt unbändigen Energie einer Gruppe, die bereits seit Mitte der Achtziger an vorderster Front agiert. Und mit einem Ideenreichtum, wie er typischer für diese Band kaum sein könnte: „Es ist ein echtes Prong-Album. Es ignoriert nicht nur jedes Genre, sondern auch das, was heutzutage da draußen vor sich geht“, umreißt Bandgründer Victor die stilistische Ausrichtung der elf Songs.

Über seinen künstlerischen Ansatz sagt er: „Ich mag alle Arten von Musik. Diese Platte passt dazu, da sie viele Facetten abdeckt.

Gleichzeitig ist ‚State Of Emergency‘ sehr gitarrenorientiert und ein gutes Beispiel für meinen Stil aus Punk, Metal, Post-Punk-Lärm, etwas Doom, Blues und Thrash, mit einem ziemlich geradlinigen Gesang. Insgesamt herrscht auf dem Album ein aggressives Ostküsten-Flair.“

Colbie Caillat ist eine meisterhafte Geschichtenerzählerin, deren luftige Folk-Pop-Songs aus SoCal sich mit schimmernden Country Songs vermischen, die sowohl den Schmerz des Endes als auch die Hoffnung auf das, was kommt, wenn man mutig genug ist, seinem wilden Herzen zu folgen, verkörpern.

Auf ihrer musikalischen Reise und beim Experimentieren mit neuen Klängen hat Caillat einen Moment in ihrem Leben in einem Lied festgehalten. Neil Gust und Elliott Smith kamen im Sommer 1991 gemeinsam nach Portland, OR, um mit dem Schlagzeuger/Produzenten Tony Lash eine neue Band zu gründen. Innerhalb eines Jahres, nachdem sie den Bassisten Brandt Peterson am Bass kennengelernt hatten, spielten sie an der gesamten Westküste und nahmen Dutzende von Songs für ihre erste LP auf. Sechs dieser Stücke wurden auf der Kassette "The Music of Heatmiser" veröffentlicht, die bei Konzerten und in örtlichen Plattenläden verkauft und an Plattenlabels verteilt wurde. THE KEENING ist das musikalische Soloprojekt von Rebecca Vernon (SubRosa).

THE KEENING webt ein Netz aus üppiger Orchestrierung, amerikanischer Gothic-Sensibilität und winterlichen Mörderballaden vor einem Hintergrund aus dunkel schimmerndem Folk. So düster das auch klingt, es gibt immer ein Licht am Ende des Tunnels.

Rebecca Vernon war die Leadsängerin, Gitarristin und Haupt Songwriterin der gefeierten Band SubRosa aus Salt Lake City. Sie beendete dieses 13-jährige Projekt im Jahr 2018, um sich auf THE KEENING zu konzentrieren.

Black Metal, wie er gedacht war: rein, schnell, intensiv und voller Hass!"Oalevluuk" hat eine so große und vielschichtige Bedeutung für Salacious Gods als Band und für die einzelnen Mitglieder, dass das Album nur für sich selbst sprechen kann. Es fängt die Mühen und die Ausdauer ein, die die Band aufbringen musste, um dieses Stück purer, ritueller Dunkelheit zu vollenden.Nach der Veröffentlichung des Vorgängeralbums "Piene" im Jahr 2005 hatten Salacious Gods ein neues Album geschrieben und im Jahr 2006 fertig aufgenommen. Das Material wurde auf die altmodische Art und Weise geschrieben: im Proberaum.

Doch nach einer Phase der Selbstreflexion und Selbstgeißelung wurde das neue Material als mehr vom Gleichen und nicht dem Standard der Band entsprechend angesehen. Aufgrund von Veränderungen im Schreibprozess und einer sich ständig weiterentwickelnden Denkweise, brach die Band zu neuen Horizonten auf, sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich. Das neue "Oalevluuk" Material wurde 2008 geschrieben und perfektioniert. Der Aufnahmeprozess begann kurz darauf. Doch zu diesem Zeitpunkt begannen die ersten ominösen Anzeichen des alten Fluchs ("Oalevluuk") ihr Haupt zu erheben.

Horros, the third album by Finnish sonic voyagers Virta, is issued in September 2023. With Horros, Virta build on and take into new terrain the questing, jazz-tinged electroacoustic adventures of their last album, December 2016’s Hurmos, and its predecessor, their November 2012 debut Tales From Deep Waters. Still recognisable as who they were, the Virta of 2023 now delves further than ever before into their inner world to craft their most affecting, most atmospheric and most cinematic music to date. Even so, Horros does not need to be accompanied by images – it envelops so much that signposts are unnecessary. The music itself is the guide through this sound world. The creators of this environment are Antti Hevosmaa (electronics, flugelhorn, trumpet, vocals), Erik Fräki (electronics, drums, percussion, vocals) and Heikki Selamo (bass, electronics, guitar, lap steel, vocals). Sermon On The Rocks is Josh Ritter's eight studio album, released in 2015. Singles from the album include "Getting Ready To Get Down" and "Homecoming." According to Ritter, the album is "messianic oracular honky-tonk." Produced by Trina Shoemaker and Josh, the 12-song album was recorded over two weeks at New Orleans’ The Parlor Recording Studio and features Matt Barrick from The Walkmen on drums, Zachariah Hickman on bass, Josh Kaufman on guitars, and Sam Kassirer on keyboards. Josh Ritter is the definition of an experienced songwriter. After graduating from Oberlin College in 1999 Ritter devoted his life to a songwriting career, releasing albums independently and garnering word-of-mouth popularity. He eventually caught the attention of Irish- songwriter Glen Hansard (writer of the song 'Falling Slowly' from the movie Once) and was invited to be the tour opener for his band The Frames. This then resulted in Josh gaining international success, with his third record 'Hello Starling', becoming a charting hit in Ireland. His songs have been featured on the TV show Parenthood, and in movies like The Other Woman and Typeface. Josh Ritter has so far released 7 studio albums, is an author, husband, father, and is considered one of the best living songwriters by Paste Magazine.

Der Titel der neuen Oakhands EP 'A Circle with Many Centers' ist eine Referenz an eine Kurzgeschichte Haruki Murakamis und gleichzeitig die Erkenntnis von Oakhands, dass sich das Leben und die Gefühle doch nicht so logisch Auseinanderdifferenzieren und Zerdenken lassen, wie es auf dem vorhergehenden Album 'The Shadow Of Your Guard Receding' angenommen und praktiziert wurde. Sondern dass Gefühle ganz einfach erlebt, wie gelebt werden müssen und all die persönlichen Konflikte doch alle stärker und universeller zusammenhängen, als einem lieb ist. An der Wurzel aller zusammenhängenden Lebensfragen liegt das Thema Depression, welches alle Emotionen durchdringt und erstickt. Ein gesellschaftlich wie individuell unvermeidliches Thema, mitten im Zeitgeists. Die Depression, der große Gegner aller Gefühle oder auch die große Abwesenheit aller Gefühle, lässt sich nicht einfach analytisch ausdifferenzieren, sondern ist "einfach da". Und sie stellt sich hier auf der EP gegen das Kaleidoskop der Gefühle auf dem Debütalbum und alle deren analytische Erklärungsversuche. 'A Circle with Many Centers' ist also wahlweise die Fortzsetzung, Antwort oder Widerlegung ihres Debütalbum. Dieses beschäftigte sich in beinahe schon manischer Präzision analytisch und lyrisch mit den eigenen Gefühlen und wurde künstlerisch (nicht wissenschaftlich) von Plutchicks Rad der Emotionen inspiriert. Wenn man so will, kann 'Circle with Many Centers' auch als eine späte Coming-Of-Age Platte gelesen werden. Eine post-adoleszente Platte über das "wahre" Erwachsenwerden um die 30, späte individuelle Sturm & Drang-Phasen. This is the 10th year edition of the album "Hayalet Islığı (Instrumentals)" by Istanbul based Turkish producer Farazi. Originally released on September 13th 2013, the 10th year edition is remastered for the vinyl and digital release. The instrumental album is a combination of music based on classic Hip Hop rhythm and beats with samples taken from psychedelic rock to old Soviet and Balkan music. On Spotify alone, the album is streamed over 50 million times.

Like an annabac, the first seconds of the first song from the first album by SAFFRON EYES (a group from Saint-Etienne including members of Raymonde Howard, Le Parti, ThOmas.W...) summarize, for those in a hurry, the themes and feelings that will be developed on the short half-hour of music that the disc contains: smiles in front, blows in the back, amicable breakups and deaf threats. Smile Until It Hurts encapsulates all of this: pleasure in offering (racy and referenced songs, in the fine tradition of indie rock), joy in receiving (pies in the mouth). If the previous EP - first recording act - of the group Pursue a Less Miserable Life (released in 2020 on our label) had a taste of the end of summer, this one clearly smells of the Cold War. He is degreased, boned and only the desire to fight remains, mischievously camouflaged under a form of obvious beauty that whistles in the shower. A production fed on indie rock and its roots (blues, post-punk and a hint of doo-wop), bringing together around a happy campfire the Pixies, Jesus Lizard, Wet Leg, Fugazi, The Cramps, The Gun Club, La Luz, The Feelies, The Bad Seeds, Kathleen Hanna, Anna Waronker…

Nach dem Ausstieg von Sänger Matti bei den "GUMBLES" beschlossen die übrigen Mitglieder das Erbe der seit über 20 Jahren erfolgreichen Band fortzuführen. Vathres is the new project by Swedish-based keyboardist and composer Alex Zethson, who usually
performs with acts such as Angles 9, Fire! Orchestra Goran Kajfeš Tropiques, Sven Wunder and
Mariam the Believer, in addition to his own ensembles and solo projects. Record consists of three
extended pieces of cinematic, minimalist post-rock featuring a large ensemble and appearances by
guitar-wizard Reine Fiske (Dungen), keyboardist Tomas Hallonsten, former Meshuggah-bassist
Gustaf Hielm and Cult of Luna-drummer Christian Augustin, among others. LP comes in a Tip-On
sleeve with artwork by Michell Zethson.

As a founding member of Stax house band Booker T. & The M.G.’s, Steve Cropper was involved in some of the most important music of the 1960s as a player, songwriter, and producer. The following decade introduced him to a new group of fans as guitarist for The Blues Brothers, appearing on both their records and film. A two-time Grammy® winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Cropper has been an integral thread in the cloth of American music, writing, playing and producing into the 21st century to this very day.

In 1969, Cropper released his first solo album, producing and arranging its eleven tracks himself. His backing band? While there is no actual record of who played on the album itself, Grammy® winner Robert Gordon’s liner notes point to his fellow M.G.’s, Buddy Miles, Jim Keltner, the Bar-Kay’s James Alexander, and more as candidates. From original tracks to its well-known covers (including The Beatles classic the release shares its name with), it is a tour de force of pure Memphis rock and soul.

The core eleven tracks now appear again on an all-analog cut, new pressing of the LP as With A Little Help From My Friends returns for a new generation to experience. The CD version contains a whopping eight bonus tracks, including four tracks not included on the original release and alternate versions of four that do. Add in Robert Gordon’s notes and this release is as much a history lesson as it is a timepiece of pure musical magic.

In a realm where the threads of fate intertwined with the tapestry of existence, there existed a timeless construct we call “MENG”. This transcendental domain pushed a sanctuary where an unholy wisdom was safeguarded. Within its twenty-two walls, the experiences of countless sages and seekers resided, forming a reservoir of enlightenment, of vision and of identity.

Among the enigmatic texts that adorned the shelves of The Memory Palace, one stood out—the "Tubular Heaven," a chapter that held the essence of the universe's patterns and transformations. The book we speak of is the Book of Change - I Ching. Legend has it that the Memory Palace embodied the vibrations of those who sought its wisdom, guiding them to the Slow-Chain’s pages where hexagrams unveiled the secrets of existence.

Amidst this cosmic dance of knowledge, there lived a young wanderer whose name we do not say out loud. Driven by a deep yearning for understanding, this Warrior ventured into the city of Tanoy. With every step, he felt the resonance of centuries long gone, as if the walls whispered to him the essence of reality itself - “you may fall as long as you stand up again. Repeat this 1000 times and you will understand me. Only then can we control the sound.” As he reached for the illuminated Book of Change, a light was cast onto a newly fabricated realm of questions.

One hexagram, in particular, was essential. The cryptic symbolism was perplexing. Upon meditation, we slowly begin to realize that life is indeed a tapestry of imperfections, yet from these glitches we arise with profound growth and transformation.

As our curiosity spikes, we delve into the pages that follow, discovering an unexpected connection between I Ching and the world of Jeans, no denim. In ancient times, the craft of weaving denim mirrored the wisdom of these hexagrams. Just as threads interwove to create a durable fabric, I Ching reveals how life's experiences intertwine to form a meaningful existence. Denim, like life, is sturdy yet adaptable - a true testament to the harmonious balance between falling and standing.

As this journey comes to a gentle end, we must stress that hexagrams prove that other divination systems exist. It has become clear that the patterns hitherto observed are not confined to one culture, tradition, mind or body. Instead, they echo throughout history, manifesting in various divination systems across our globe. Hexagrams are a universal language, transcending boundaries and demonstrating the interconnectedness of humanity's pursuit of higher understanding.

We can now truly emerge from the Memory Palace, carrying the wisdom of everything above us. It’s time to Drag A Friend into this Made Up Reality. Or is it? We now understand that life's glitches are the catalysts for growth and that just as threads wove together to create denim, experiences wove together to create a meaningful existence.
As we walk beneath the open sky, we whisper into the wind, "Hexagrams are the echoes of universal truths, proving that the search for wisdom knows no bounds."

The chimes tingle in the deep subset of your imagination. As the pages of the Book of Change unfurl one last time, the shimmering tapestry of our shallow minds unravels.

We have revealed the kaleidoscopic corridors where perceptions dance in hallucinogenic symphony to the hymns of our rich minds.

Heavenly Recordings release the next two volumes in their series of remixed classics and unreleased versions. ‘Heavenly Remixes 7 & 8’ sees the label going back into the archive, as well as picking off some more recent remixes, and both albums primarily feature either previously unreleased versions or re-workings available for the first time on vinyl and CD.

Heavenly have always seen immense value in the remix, a value way beyond what it might bring commercially. Since their first release in 1990 (where Andrew Weatherall overhauled a one-off single by club kids Sly and Lovechild) Heavenly remixes have been carefully curated and treated as a key part of the A&R process. It’s an opportunity to view an artist through a different prism, to play out a musical ‘what if’ scenario. It’s the kind of exploration that’s happened consistently through the thirty plus years the label has released music.

The ‘Heavenly remixes’ series continues to showcase the very best remixes, versions, meditations, re-rubs and dubs from all around the world of artists right across the roster of the country’s most exciting record label. In most cases, the albums offer the first physical release for a remix, elevating them from streaming playlists to their rightful, spiritual home on super heavy vinyl (or shiny, super-packed compact disc).

Heavenly remixes 7’ heads to Belfast, where David Holmes - a producer who first appeared on Heavenly in 1994 amping up the acid on Saint Etienne’s ‘Like A Motorway’ - appears as solo artist and as one third of Unloved, who get a lift right to the heart of a Vauxhall sweatbox by Horse Meat Disco. It draws a line between Amsterdam and Frankfurt as Ludwig A.F. amps up the electronics on Pip Blom’s ‘Keep It Together’. It stops off in a south London studio where super producer Dan Carey plays the desk with Toy, then relocates LA psych rock band Fever The Ghost to an Ibizan shoreline as the sun sets on the horizon. It cements Sheffield’s reputation as the home of modern British techno with the return of true originators Forgemasters. And it pitches up in front of a renegade soundsystem late night at Glastonbury as Erol Alkan’s mighty rework of Con Man gets its third rewind of the night.



‘Heavenly remixes 8’ opens with Space Afrika’s lush, ambient reimagining of the Orielles’ ‘BEAM/S’ before Justin Robertson stretches Amber Arcades’ ‘Turning Light’ into eight minutes of electronic dub. Elsewhere, Baxter Dury’s peerless ‘Miami’ becomes a string-laden electro skank in the hands of French producer Pilooski; Edinburgh’s bedroom techno genius Eyes of Others’ ‘Safehouse’ turns into an East End bathhouse courtesy of disco deviants Decius; Ashley Beedle’s Black Science Orchestra turns Unloved’s heartworn torch song into seven minutes of glimmering dreamlike percussive house and Katy J. Pearson’s freak flag is flown high thanks to The Umlauts’ throbbing filtered electro mix. It ends similarly to how it began as TONE takes

Produced by The Charlatans and Jim Spencer and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Portishead), "Modern Nature" is the band's 12th studio album. Released in 2015, the album features a plethora of contributors, from drummers Pete Salisbury (The Verve), Stephen Morris (New Order) and Gabriel Gurnsey (Factory Floor) to Kate Bush's backup singers Melanie Marshall and Sandra Marvin to Sean O'Hagan's strings and Jim Paterson's horns. The album, described by Q as "one of the best of her career," debuted in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart. Pressed on clear yellow vinyl.

Written during a year of hedonistic isolation whilst exiled to a forgotten mining village, 'Alecs in Wonderland’ is the debut self-produced rap album by rap enigma and ‘one man band’ Alecs DeLarge.

Alecs navigates ‘Wonderland’ with a bulging backpack of references to 90’s Toonami imports, king skins and rap nerdology, multi-syllable boxing through beats in a smoked out stream-of-consciousness drawl. From the cartoonish braggadocio on ‘Scooby Snax’ and ‘AM To AM’, to proclaiming his love for his anthropomorphic MPC 2000 on ‘Girl Joint’, Alecs emphatically proving that he’s much more than just the man behind the boards.

Merging classic New York rap sensibilities with sarcastic British humour, 110’s and Berghaus coats taking the place of Timb boots and Lo sweaters.

Wonderland is Alecs’ custom built version of The Matrix, a perfect world created to escape the one outside his council flat window, idyllic living in Lynchian reality. After re-signing to Nuclear Blast in early 2021, the Finnish heavy metal sextet BATTLE BEAST are once again getting ready to unleash their force upon the world in the shape of their brand new masterpiece »Circus Of Doom«. The album is set to be released on January 21st 2022 via Nuclear Blast and in true BATTLE BEAST fashion, the 10 tracks blend true heavy metal with pop and rock-vibes, paired with Noora Louhimo’s unique voice. »Circus Of Doom« was once again recorded at JKB Studios in Helsinki, Finland and produced and mixed by keyboardist Janne Björkroth, while the stunning artwork was created by Jan Yrlund (KORPIKLAANI, MANOWAR etc.), who already took care of BATTLE BEAST’s previous two album designs.

Having only formed in 2008, BATTLE BEAST first signed a record deal with the renowned German metal label Nuclear Blast in 2011. The release of their acclaimed debut »Steel« (2012), won the band a support slot for their labelmates NIGHTWISH. Frontwoman Noora Louhimo finally joined the band in 2012 and the band’s self-titled record (2013) was released shortly afterwards. BATTLE BEAST then got the opportunity to open for bands such as SONATA ARCTICA and POWERWOLF on extensive runs. Their ascent up the metal ladder was quick and the band’s 3rd studio album »Unholy Savior«, achieved remarkable chart positions all over Europe (#1 Finland, #23 UK Rock, #39 Germany etc.). This release was accompanied by another big European tour, but this time with Swedish heavy metal heroes SABATON and DELAIN. BATTLE BEAST’s very first headline run throughout the Continent rounded off their »Unholy Savior« touring cycle.
Their 4th studio album, »Bringer Of Pain« in 2017 reached even higher chart positions (a.o. #1 in Finland, #14 in Germany) and was also BATTLE BEAST’s first output without their original songwriter Anton Kabanen. In 2019, alongside the huge #1 success in the album charts of their home country, Finland, their last album »No More Hollywood Endings« reached a remarkable #11 in German album charts and proved to be their most successful piece yet.
Their latest masterpiece, »Circus Of Doom«, is overall heavier, but still as catchy as ever with bangers like “Masters Of Illusion”, “Freedom”, or the title track “Circus Of Doom”. Once again, the band stay true to their formula of “100% heavy metal - 0% bullshit!”
