Accomplished trumpeter, composer, bandleader and educator, Kamal Abdul-Alim has been actively involved in creative music for decades. He has toured Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and the United States. He has recorded with all kinds of bands, large and small, and performed in festivals all over the world. “He takes the postbop of the 50s and free-form jazz of the 60s and turns it into an even balance of fine textures. Alim, who is highly underrated, has one of the most beautiful tones and concepts of jazz. A master of improvisation, he knows the art of weaving different ideas, whether they stem from Manhattan’s lower East Side or Europe” (Hugh Wyatt, New York Daily News). “Dance” was recorded in 1983 but first released on vinyl in 1987. Rhythm section includes drummer Idris Muhammad. Original pressings are extremely rare and expensive. “Brotherhood” is a much sought after track on the jazz dance scene. There is a high demand for this title again on vinyl and pressings are limited to 1000 copies, all individually hand numbered.

Hiroshi Sato's masterpiece “Awakening” has been reissued for the fourth time in a new color “Pastel Blue Vinyl”. The album was cut by world-renowned engineer Bernie Grundman based on high-spec sound data digitally converted to 96KHz/24bit from the original master tapes. The pressing was done at Sony Music's factory in Japan. This is Hiroshi Sato's fourth original album released in June 1982 after his career in Los Angeles, and his first album for Alpha Records. Featuring Canadian female vocalist Wendy Matthews and using the most advanced drum machine at the time, “LinnDrum,” this mellow and soulful album is a perfect fusion of Sato's sound sense and the atmosphere of American West Coast, and has transcended generations, continues to influence many musicians. Guest guitarists include Tatsuro Yamashita, Tsunehide Matsuki, and Yuji Toriyama! Limited edition.

For CT022, Cosmic Tribe presents the third edition of the Artist Series featuring C.C.O. (Contra Communem Opinionem), the project of Swiss artist Florian Büchel.

The original material selected here explores a more direct and linear side of his music, combining atmospheric structures, subtle acid elements and elegant melodic progression.

On Side B, both reinterpretations move the material toward more dancefloor-oriented territory. Raakel Bloody Raakel reshapes Gravitational Disturbance into a recognizable acid-electro interpretation with increased groove and syncopation, while Romphea takes Interstellar Matter into heavier and darker contemporary electro-breaks territory with increased low-end weight and a more direct club approach.

The result creates a clear contrast across both sides: progression and musical development on Side A, followed by two alternative perspectives built around movement and dancefloor energy.

A much needed repress of French ambient composer and lifeguard Roméo Poirier's cult debut record, Plage Arrière. Released with updated artwork, by London imprint Kit Records.

Plage Arrière is a deep sea meditation on a constellation of Greek beaches across three islands. Trumpets, echo-clicks and Harold Budd-esque shimmer piano whirl together on these sand-caked missives, tumbled and re-engineered by their surroundings like seaglass. Poirier evokes the sub-aqeaous ambitions of Jürgen Müller, or Jan Jelinek inspecting a coral reef.

Y-3, the pioneering sports-fashion collaboration between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, has for three decades dwelled calmly within the ''tensions of existence''. In conceiving the brand's long-awaited return to runway format at Paris Fashion Week, these codes laid the groundwork leading up to the Spring/Summer 2025 season. Whilst the focus for runway is traditionally placed on garments, models, styling, environment, and the pageantry in between, it was crucial that music play an integral role in the conversation. Three seasons later, sound has informed creative direction from the very earliest phases of ideation. Commissioning all-original compositions has become a natural part of this ideology. The return to runway has invited the opportunity to define a new sonic palette for the brand, and beyond that, to usher in a new era of sound for Y-3 that echoes across music & culture. Following this ethos, and with a mandate to support obscure talent, Montreal duo Solitary Dancer have emerged as the first collaborators in shaping the intimate brand architecture of noise & feeling. With a body of work now spanning over a trilogy of seasons, the genre-defying Y-3000 imprint provides an outlet to disseminate & recontexualize the original compositions beyond the traditional runway. The band’s tenth studio album released during September 1978 was also their most commercial & gave the band their first platinum disc. With lead guitarists Michael Hampton & Eddie Hazel dazzling, the personification of funk Bootsy Collins on bass, Bernie Worrell & Walter “Junie” Morrison’s keyboard wizardry & many more, the album was produced by the genius of George Clinton. Regularly ranked at or near the top of various “best album” lists, ‘One Nation Under A Groove’ is mastered for vinyl in a deluxe facsimile gatefold sleeve with booklet & lyric inner sleeves, all housed in a protective PVC sleeve. The albums’ original bonus songs are now included on a second 12-inch “Special EP” which adds the rare 11-minute “Disco Mix” of ‘One Nation Under A Groove’ to replicate the original first UK pressing from 1978. FUNKADELIC Masterminded by the larger-than-life figure of George Clinton, Funkadelic was a key component of his influential P-Funk empire. Cristina Camargo broke onto the Brazilian boogie scene in 1980 with the single "Moral Tem Hora", penned by the by then already famous brothers Marcos and Paulo Valle. They were soon joined by the arranger/producer/musician powerhouse Robson Jorge and Lincoln Olivetti, who worked with practically all the big MPB stars from Jorge Ben and Gal Costa to Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. Armed with the endless possibilities that the burgeoning Brazilian music scene provided, the group went into the studio and produced the eponymous debut album Cristina Camargo.

The result is a very special record built around that successful single that does what Brazil does best: blending their own musical heritage with sounds in vogue in the rest of the world, in this case the boogie disco that was all the rage in the USA in the first half of the 1980s. Expect endearing choirs, tight grooves, and a killer production value on par with the big-budget studios up north.

"Time Is Slipping Away is an album by American R&B/jazz fusion producer, composer, keyboardist and vocalist Dexter Wansel. It is the last of four studio albums released at Philadelphia International Records. The album contains songs with different styles from P-funk to sophisticated quiet storm music to instrumental jazz-funk. It features the two popular songs ""The Sweetest Pain"" and ""I'll Never Forget (My Favorite Disco)"". The former song features vocals by soul singer Terri Wells. Time Is Slipping Away is available as a limited edition of 500 copies on purple coloured vinyl and includes an insert with lyrics."

American singer, songwriter and guitarist Boz Scaggs rose to fame in the 1970s with several top 20 hit singles in the United States. In 1976, he teamed up with a group of session musicians who would later form Toto and recorded his seventh album, Silk Degrees, which became a huge hit. The album reached #2 on the US Billboard 200, #1 in a number of countries around the world, and spawned three hit singles: “Lowdown,” “Lido Shuffle,” and “What Can I Say,” as well as the MOR standard “We’re All Alone,” which was later recorded by Rita Coolidge and Frankie Valli.

Two is the second album by British electronic group Utah Saints, and was released in 2000. It's the result of a eight-year layoff that was this close to retirement (in techno terms). In 1992, Utah Saints' self-titled debut was one of the year's most exciting dance releases. Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt's anthems boomed out with the exuberance of copyright liberation, but their unreleased second album was permanently bricked up by record label ffrr for copyright violation.

But in 2000 they finally got to release this beauty! Two features guest apparances by Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), Chuck D (Public Enemy) and Edwin Starr. On Two, you can hear samples ranging from Metallica, Average White Band, The Pretenders, The Stooges and Joyce Sims, so you can only imagine which samples were used on that unreleased album!

Two is available as a limited numbered edition of 1000 copies on clear/turquoise marble vinyl, and is packaged in a gatefold sleeve.

This amazing album has not been in print since its release in 1979, and is essential for every fan of MPB. Produced by Zé Ramalho, this classic album has a unique psychedelic feel thanks to its warm folk sound, and you'll find yourself returning to it time and time again.

In 2023, Cátia de França was one of ten Brazilian artistic figures honoured with the Milú Villela Award. She was also nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2024.

Obviously TD ooze subtlety and taste, so as we sat sipping Schnapps from our Stanley cups, we couldn't help but take a little inspo from our kitchen decor. 'Live Love Pump' - what a mantra. In musical form, this philosophy takes the shape of a capital D-isco delight, equal Pats Cowley & Adams, EQ-freaked and filtered into something dafter than a pair of chrome clad millionaires. Big room mirrorball magic if ever we've heard it.
The A2 sees the drunk AOR funk of 'Sure Line' take a leisurely stroll down the coast, a Gauloises in the gob and tattered Baldwin in the back pocket, flipping and flopping along the prom to buoyant bass, melting brass and more than a little melancholy.

Booting off the B-side, 'Un America' is a massive mid-tempo chugger replete with laser fire, synth scree and nipple high guitar. Powering along on a serious bass sequence armed with hooks-a-plenty, mostly incomprehensible lyrics and a groove which won't quit, this has all the ingredients required for an Italo all-timer.
The finale finds us in the company of some punk pioneers at their absolute silliest, bringing the kind of whacky vocal vibe, surf-centric style and off kilter groove the B-52s made a career of. Add in animal chatter and scratchy guitars and you've got the sort of secret weapon the Idjuts unleash waaaay post peak.

While the originals do quite a lot of the heavy lifting, these two have been given a little more room to misbehave.
The edits keep the soul, swagger and unmistakable DNA of the originals intact, while adding extra groove, punch and just enough dancefloor mischief to cause problems after midnight

Side A opens with Play With My... by N.W.N., a deep underground gem originally released on Bagira Ice Limited in 2018. After discovering the track last year, Homero Espinosa knew it deserved a vinyl release and reached out to N.W.N. to make it happen. Alongside the original, Homero delivers an exclusive remix that builds on the groove, adding his signature jazz-infused touch while staying true to the spirit of the record.

On Side B, Moulton digs into the vaults with two dancefloor favorites. Never Alone featuring Tobirus Mozelle gets the Nathan G treatment, delivering deep house at its finest with warm chords, soulful vocals, and timeless groove. Closing the sampler is Legbleep by Allen Craig, a deep, moody, techno-infused roller that perfectly rounds out the sampler.

Formed between London and the outskirts of Glasgow, INTA-CITY is a new clandestine jazz-funk project from Daniel Maunick alongside Zaidi Kiggundu and Jamie McShane AKA Zaimie.

With the rebellious spirit of the British funk hustlers of the 1980s — Freeez, Light of the World, Incognito The Warriors, all of which counted Maunick's father Jean Paul 'Bluey' Maunick among their founding members — INTA-CITY adopt the DIY, solidaristic and dancefloor-first ethos of the original movement: no frontman, no band photos or fancy music videos. Just music to move to.

Ahead of their debut album release next year, the band have enlisted Boston edit master Kon, Italian cosmic royalty Daniele Baldelli & DJ Rocca, and Bolognese duo G&D for a limited edition remix 12” and digital release out 18th September 2026 via Far Out Recordings.
