In April 1966, the duo of Graves and pianist Don Pullen played at Yale University. As John Corbett writes in the liner notes, "This performance was something of a turning point for Graves. Until then he had been working in other people's bands or collective ensembles. He was phenomenally busy. In 1965 alone, he recorded with NYAQ (two LPs), Giuseppi Logan Quartet, Paul Bley Quintet and Lowell Davidson Trio, and he made his first recording released under his own name, Percussion Ensemble. Every one of these is important in its own way, but none of them quite anticipate how radical was the music that he and Pullen would unleash that evening in New Haven."

Originally released on the artists' own Self-Reliance Program label, this legendary one-night performance would be split into two volumes: In Concert At Yale University and Nommo. Blackfoxy is a jazz-funk group originating from Villeneuve La Garenne in the Parisian region. The group was formed in 2011 at the initiative of Kalid Bazi and Klaus Blasquiz (the singer of the legendary group Magma with Christian Vander, Jannick Top, etc.). They are notably known for the hits "Talk About Peace" (featuring Nina Attal, MB14, and Princess Erika), dedicated to the victims of the Bataclan attacks in 2015, as well as their performance on France 4 with 50 drummers on the Michael Jackson song "Don"t Stop" & "Til You Get Enough" One of their most notable features is their ability to innovate by skillfully and uniquely incorporating elements from "Blaxploitation" film music and African, Cuban, and Caribbean musical traditions into their funk, characterized by a high-quality brass section and arrangements borrowed from both 70s and 80s Funk. Blackfoxy"s music also stands out due to the complementarity of its two singers, Klaus Blasquiz (baritone and tenor, he sings over 5 octaves!) and Sista Wyndyz. Lastly, since the attacks of 2015, Blackfoxy has been involved in the movement (sponsored, among others, by Manu Katché) to promote the values of peace through music in popular neighborhoods and rural areas in France and elsewhere.

We at BDQ are delighted to release Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll & The Trinity's long lost, swinging Hammond Organ version of the jazz dance classic ‘Jeannine’. Released for the very first time on a 45, ‘Jeannine’ had lain forgotten about for 55 years, and was only discovered whilst Brian and his son were looking for previously unreleased material to include on the recent ‘Auger Incorporated' compilation (Soul Bank Music) Julie Driscoll’s unmistakable voice paired with Auger’s fiery playing makes for a fresh take on this evergreen classic.



On the B side, for the first time on a UK release we have the hip swinging, big band 'mod jazz' dancer 'In & Out'. Taken from The Trinity's 1967 album 'Open' and is built around guitarist Gary Boyles' Wes Montgomery inspired playing. 'In & Out' was only released on a 45 in the US by ATCO Records, making this it's only ever single release outside of the United States - this special BDQ 45 single is a strictly limited edition release and will not be repressed.



Brian himself has been very supportive, making it very clear that this 45 was a priority project for him, and we are very lucky to collaborate on our second project with this legendary artist. Many will be aware that Brian and BDQ first collaborated on the single ‘Truth In My Tears’ which featured his trademark Hammond Organ sound alongside the sultry voice of Lydia Sharpe to great effect. Two accomplished house mainstays come together on Get Physical Music as James Curd joins forces with the legendary Osunlade for superb new single 'Chocolate Puddin'' while FNX Omar and Kai Alcé step up with their own remixes.

Curd came up as a DJ in Chicago and has gone on to become a mainstay of the scene. He is also credited with inventing G-Swing, a house sound infused with swing. He has run various labels over the years while releasing on some of the world's finest imprints and serving up his magical sets everywhere from fabric in London to The Avalon in Los Angeles and The Arches in Glasgow. American Osunlade meanwhile has deep spiritual roots in Yoruba traditions that are also reflected in the name of his record label. He makes music with a rare spirituality as proven once again here.

The superb 'Chocolate Puddin'' is silky smooth deep and Afro-tinged house with gorgeous percussive melodies and soft shakers. It's full of soul and warmth with meaningful leads that bring plenty of uplifting emotions next to a bluesy vocal.

Atlanta's house mainstay and a long-time underground favourite Kai Alcé then remixes. His version is more pacey but no less deep - the jazzy chords are seductively draped over the cuddly deep drums and the vocal has a more soulful edge. Osunlade also offers his own Yoruba Soul mix which is a hi-tek sound with futuristic synth chords and uplifting house drums. Last to remix is Moroccan mainstay and label regular FNX Omar. He flips the track into something that is richly layered with percussion and nimble bass, organic hand claps and hypnotic drum lines that all sink you in deep.

This package is as delicious as its name suggests.

Cultural power house Jazz Montez is back with the second edition of its compilation series "Jazz Montez Presents". Von den ersten Tönen ihres selbst betitelten Klassikers aus dem Jahr 1972 über ihr bombastisches Multi-Platin-Juwel "Foghat Live" (1977) und das von Slide-Gitarren durchtränkte "Under The Influence" aus dem Jahr 2016 bis hin zu ihrem kommenden Album "Sonic Mojo" ging es bei FOGHAT immer nur um die Musik. Musik, die laut gespielt wird. Musik, die live gespielt wird. Musik, die dich dazu bringt, dich zu bewegen.

Drei der Songs auf "Sonic Mojo" haben für Roger Earl eine besondere Bedeutung, da diese gemeinsam mit Kim Simmonds geschrieben wurden, dem Mann, der Roger 1967 als Mitglied von Savoy Brown zu seinem Durchbruch verhalf. Leider verstarb Kim kurz nach dem Schreiben dieser Songs im Dezember 2022.

Auf ihrem neuen Album ziehen FOGHAT mit einigen großartigen Coverversionen zudem den Hut vor legendären Künstlern, die bereits vor ihnen da waren, wie unter anderem Willie Dixon, B.B. King oder Chuck Berry.

Diese nie zuvor gehörte Aufnahme des legendären Tenorsaxophonisten "Little Giant" Johnny Griffin, der im Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club spielte und von Mitgliedern der Ronnie's House Band (Stan Tracey, Malcolm Cecil und Jackie Dougan) unterstützt wurde, erscheint auf AAA Vinyl. Das Album wurde bei Gearbox Records mit einer rein analogen Signalkette gemastert und direkt von den Originalbändern geschnitten, die 1964 im Club von Les Tomkins aufgenommen wurden. Guitar legend John Scofield fuses with trip-hop jazz trio Medeski, Martin & Wood on this influential and much-loved album, originally released on New Year’s Day in 1998. The quartet gets funky on “Chank” and the organ-drenched “Hottentot” and nods to Scofield’s fusion roots on album highlight “Jeep on 35”. Angesichts des mittlerweile mythischen Status von Hellhammer in der globalen Metalszene ist es fast unvorstellbar, dass der Großteil dieser Musik fast vier Jahrzehnte lang nie live aufgeführt wurde. Hellhammers Nachfolgegruppe Celtic Frost, die von den ehemaligen Hellhammer-Mitgliedern Tom Gabriel Warrior und Martin Eric Ain gegründet wurde, spielte anfangs zwei Songs von Hellhammer, gab diese Gewohnheit aber schließlich auf, da die Band schnell eigenes Material entwickelte. Die 2008 gegründete Band Triptykon von Tom Gabriel Warrior hat bei bemerkenswerten Konzerten gelegentlich einen seltenen Hellhammer-Song gespielt. Der größte Teil von Hellhammers Werk blieb jedoch unaufgeführt. Bis zum Erscheinen von Triumph Of Death.



Die Wiederbelebung der Musik von Hellhammer war eine Idee, die Tom Gabriel Warrior und Martin Eric Ain seit vielen Jahren diskutierten, ausgelöst durch ihre erneute Zusammenarbeit bei den reformierten Celtic Frost in den 2000er Jahren. Die ersten Schritte zur Verwirklichung von Triumph Of Death, benannt nach Hellhammers berühmtestem Song und als sehr respektvolle und authentische Hommage an Hellhammer gedacht, wurden schließlich 2014 unternommen, und die Band wurde im Herbst 2019 offiziell gegründet. Triumph Of Death besteht aus Menschen, die diese Musik nicht nur lieben, sondern auch wirklich verstehen.



Seit den Anfängen hat Triumph Of Death eine Reihe von hochgelobten Konzerten gespielt, z. B. auf dem Hellfest (Frankreich), dem Wacken Open Air (Deutschland), dem Party.San (Deutschland), dem Brutal Assault (Tschechische Republik), dem Psycho Las Vegas (USA), dem Merry Christless (Polen), dem Inferno Festival (Norwegen), dem Maryland Deathfest (USA), dem UK Deathfest, dem Hell's Heroes Festival (USA) oder dem Mexico Metal Fest. Von Anfang an hatte die Band die Absicht, Live-Mitschnitte von einigen dieser Konzerte zu veröffentlichen. Triumph Of Death ist ein unbefristetes Projekt mit Sitz in Zürich, Schweiz.

Farbige Vinyl-Wiederveröffentlichung von "My Happy Place", dem vierten Studioalbum der britischen Sängerin und Spice Girls-Legende Emma Bunton. Ursprünglich veröffentlicht im April 2019. Das Album besteht aus zehn Tracks; acht sind Coverversionen einiger von Buntons Lieblingssongs und zwei sind Originalsongs, die die Sängerin mitgeschrieben hat.

"My Happy Place" erreichte bei seinem Debüt Platz 11 der UK-Album-Charts. Damit erreichte Bunton zum dritten Mal in Folge eine Top-20-Platzierung in den Charts. In Großbritannien erreichte das Album Platz 3 der Independent Albums Chart, Platz 9 der UK Album Downloads und Platz 6 sowohl der Physical Albums als auch der Albums Sales Chart. "My Happy Place" debütierte auch auf Platz 7 der schottischen Albumcharts.

Die 2023er Wiederveröffentlichung des siebten und letzten Studioalbums der New Yorker Metal-Legenden TYPE O NEGATIVE. Als "Dead Again" im Jahr 2007 veröffentlicht wurde, war es das meistverkaufte Album der Band in ihrer Karriere.
