The highly anticipated revival of the long-dormant and seminal animated series is as fun, thoughtful and emotionally charged as the original run, while being matured slightly for an audience that has aged since its last episode nearly thirty years ago. But matching the energy, tone of the original was dependent on nailing the sound, and that clearly was top of mind for the series composers The Newton Brothers.



The Newton Brothers have produced an incredibly dynamic collection of music - from tackling the implications of serious political allegories, deep emotional truths, all while still embracing the fantastical surprises present in this universe (such as being sucked into a video game). X-Men '97 proves you can tackle legacy work in creative and original ways.

Guitarist Steve Howe releases his new solo album Guitarscape on 27th September on his own HoweSound label. The album will be available on CD, vinyl and digital downloads, including Dolby Atmos, Guitarscape marks a new chapter for the YES and ASIA legend as he presents, what amounts to, a guitar masterclass. "What I'm doing," said Steve, "is focusing on what I do well and what I love to do." Guitarscape features 14 new instrumental tracks in a host of musical styles, from rock through to acoustic and classical, each bearing that unmistakable Steve Howe sound. Steve plays acoustic, electric, steel and bass guitars along with keyboards and is joined by his son Dylan on drums. Steve has written all of the tracks and produced the album "This album has given me the opportunity to do something different," says Steve. "I bought a Novation Summit keyboard and found that it had a wealth of inspiring sounds. It gave me a golden opportunity to create my own keyboard structures - chordal movements and structures that I thought were a bit different. I think differently on a keyboard, I don't see the chords looking the same but then I had fun playing around with the guitar to see where that goes. "I've utilised most of the colours, as I like to I think of my styles, and I'm always pleased when I hear them running through and it moves from a steel, maybe, to a Spanish guitar. Because it's a different sort of album, I'm not using terribly conventional chord sequences but things that give me a fresh feeling and opportunities to improvise and stretch out as well as be melodic and make this a nice tuneful experience. "I began feeding the tracks to Dylan. We get on great and he seems to know what to play around my guitar, it's almost instinctive. Dylan and I fit together really beautifully. We've had the chance to do this together, so it's wonderful. "The bass parts and the keyboards are pretty interesting, everything had to be interesting but also work together. I like doing things that are super fresh and this album says what I am today.

Jimpster’s take on ‘Wonderland’, featuring Josh Milan on vocals as Alexander Hope, stabilises the track while allowing the free-flowing feel of the OG to shine through. Brooklyn native DJ Spinna’s remix of ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ capitalises on Hope’s powerful vocals, supported by impeccable synth-laden production, before vinyl aficiando Natasha Diggs closes out this Blaze collection with her remix of ‘Breathe’; Diggs stays faithful to the original’s iconic saxophone and trumpet-led sound, sprinkling in her tasteful flair for smooth grooves and delicious synthwork at every turn.

"Women + Country is the second studio album by singer-songwriter Jakob Dylan, son of the legendary Bob Dylan and frontman of The Wallflowers. The album is released in 2010 and produced by T Bone Burnett. T Bone, who has known Dylan since he was a kid, suggested the two make an album together after the singer played him the song “Nothing But The Whole Wide World"". Dylan recorded the album in less than a week in Los Angeles, with T Bone’s crack backing band, which includes Marc Ribot (a frequent collaborator with Tom Waits) on guitar and David Mansfield on fiddle and mandolin.

Women + Country is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on ash grey coloured vinyl and includes an insert with lyrics

The group formed by the legendary Joseph Hill, accompanied by his two acolytes Albert Walker and Kenneth Dayes, delivers an album recorded at Mixing Lab and mixed at the Lion & Fox studio (reference studio for the RAS label) in 1989.

Recorded with 3 brass instruments, bass, drums, keyboards and percussion, it's in the pure roots tradition, with a few interesting dub twists. There's also a tribute to Bob Marley entitled ‘Psalm of Bob Marley’ and the excellent ‘Cousin Rude Boy’.

This is a pure roots album remastered to the highest standards, with a 350g cardboard sleeve showing off the full extent of Mitch Goldberg's graphic design. Never reissued on vinyl since its release, and only once on CD in the 90s.

While Chicha Libre's second album, Canibalismo was inspired by the Peruvian Chicha explosion of the 70's, it also looked back to the cultural Cannibalism dear to Os Mutantes and other Brazilian tropicalists, as well as the production values of late 1960’s rock bands.

The group still pays homage to amazonian legends Los Wembler's de Iquitos, Los Mirlos and Manzanita, but mixes it up even more by combining mellotron and vintage synths with West African guitars, treated percussion, fuzztone and some R.D Burman-inspired arrangements. Originally released in 2012, this the first european re-release on vinyl.

The late composer, arranger, musician and record producer Nonato Buzar is a lesser known great (outside of Brazil). His legacy leaves behind a rich body of recordings, working with some of the cream of the Brazilian 60s and 70s music scene, such as Evinha, Elis Regina, Wilson Das Neves to name a few as well as Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff. The awesome organ driven dancer of ‘Cafuá’ is taken from Nonato & Seu Conjunto’s 'O Som E O Balanço De Nonato’ album from 1975 on Som records.
Mr Bongo re-issued José Roberto’s (aka Ze Roberto) ultra rare 'Lotus 72 D' 7” earlier in 2019. 'Crioula Multicolorida’ though not as scarce as ‘Lotus' is still a hard record to find and is equally as great. This anthemic ‘samba rock’ gem, with its amazing breakdown, originally appeared as the B-side of a 7” in 1974 on RCA Victor. It has since been a favourite amongst Brazilian DJs and collectors, featuring on the influential ‘Via Brazil’ compilation series and 'Brazilian Beats Brooklyn' collection on Mr Bongo.

neben traditionellen Stücken auch Eigenkompositionen von Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen und Fredrik Schøyen
Sjölin sowie bestechende Arrangements der Musiker von vier Kompositionen Turlough O’Carolans, dem
legendären Harfenisten aus dem irischen County Meath. Das Programm beleuchtet sowohl musikalische
Verwandtschaften als auch deren subtile Unterschiede, denn obgleich Folkmusik ”lokale Traditionen und

Mit "Dark Superstition" schlagen Gatecreeper ein neues Kapitel in ihrer Bandhistorie auf: Das kommende Studioalbum ist gleichzeitig die erste Veröffentlichung der Death-Metaller bei Nuclear Blast.

Dafür hat sich die US-Band unter anderem Unterstützung von Fred Etsby (Dismember) und Converge-Gitarrist Kurt Ballou geholt. Zum Hintergrund des Albums, auf das es mit "Caught In The Treads" bereits einen ersten Ausblick gegeben hatte, erklärt Frontmann Chase Mason: "Viele der Songs handeln von übernatürliche Ideen, gepaart meinen eigenen Erfahrungen. Allerdings ist der Titel selbst eine Referenz an die Superstition Mountains in unserem Heimatstaat Arizona. Es ist eine wunderschöne Bergkette, umgeben von Tragödien und Legenden über verborgenes Glück." An das Thema des Übernatürlichen schließen sie auch mit der neuesten Singleveröffentlichung "The Black Curtain" sowie dem dazugehörigen Musikvideo an.

Darin ist die Band von einer Friedhofskulisse umgeben, der sie mit ihrer Mischung aus straightem Rock, peitschenden Death Metal und ausufernden Shoutings Kontur und standesgemäße Düsternis verleihen. Dazu führt Mason weiter aus: "Es geht darum, zwischen Leben und Sterben gefangen zu sein. Eine Seele, die im Fegefeuer gefangen ist und darum bettelt, von einer übernatürlichen Kraft zurückgebracht zu werden."

Auf „Bloom“ hören und fühlen wir Ben Böhmers Entwicklung, sein freudiges Streben nach Neuem, das ihn Tag für Tag immer wieder ins Studio zurückzieht. Klanglich ist „Best Life“ ein mutiger Schritt in eine neue Richtung für Ben Böhmer, der aus den vorgefertigten Schubladen, in die er gesteckt wurde, herauswachsen will. Sein Songwriting- und Kompositionstalent tritt auf „Bloom“ in den Vordergrund, zusammen mit angesehenen Künstler:innen wie der Indie-Legende Lykke Li, dem Alt-Pop-Duo Oh Wonder, Enfant Sauvage (vom französischen Duo The Blaze) und anderen. Text: Hayden Thorpe hat sein drittes Soloalbum für den 27.September angekündigt. "Ness" ist inspiriert von Orford Ness in Suffolk, einem ehemaligen Militärstandort für die Entwicklung von Waffen während beider Weltkriege und des Kalten Krieges. Das 1993 vom National Trust erworbene und der Verwilderung überlassene Gebiet ist bis heute ein Ort des Paradoxen, des Geheimnisses und der ständigen Entwicklung. Thorpe's "Ness" ist eine Ode an Orford Ness, an den physischen Ort und an das Buch, das ihn inspiriert hat. Mit Wort und Bild haben der britische Bestseller-Autor Robert Macfarlane und Stanley Donwood darin einen kleinen modernen Mythos geschaffen. Teils Novelle, teils Prosagedicht, teils Mysterienspiel - in "Ness" vereinen sich ihre Fähigkeiten zu einer verblüffenden, beunruhigenden Wirkung und Thorpe erweckt die Lieder darin zum Leben. Nachdem sich Thorpe und Macfarlane auf dem Kendal Mountain Literature Festival kennengelernt und dann zusammengearbeitet hatten, entstand die Idee, dass Thorpe ein Album aus Macfarlanes Prosa machen sollte. Sein Exemplar des Buches ist nun mit schwarzer Tinte bedeckt, die Wörter, Zeilen und Sätze bedeckt, um „das Lied darunter zu enthüllen“. Das Video zur ersten Single "They" bei dem Hayden Thorpe und Andy King Regie führten und das in Orford Ness gefilmt wurde, dient als Einführung in "Ness": die Kiesgrube, das Buch und das Album. In den ersten anderthalb Minuten des Videos spricht Thorpe Macfarlanes Worte und bittet uns: „Listen. Hört jetzt zu. Hört auf Ness. Seid still und hört zu, ja? Hört wirklich zu."

"Spell Shock" ist die fulminante Rückkehr der Satanic Speed Metal-Beschwörer und Provokateure aus Portland, BEWITCHER. - Am 10.05 legt Gunna sein neues, fünftes Album „One of Wun“ vor.- Auf den Albumrelease folgt eine umfangreiche Tour. Zwischen Mai und Juni tourt Gunna durch die USA. Im Juli kommt er nach Europa.- Am 03.05 releaste Gunna zuletzt die Single „Whatsapp (Wassam)“, die bis dato auf 3,5 Mio globale Streams und eine halbe Mio YouTube-Views kommt. „Whatsapp (Wassam)“ wurde in sechs Apple Music Playlists aufgenommen: u.a. zierte er das Cover der „It’s Lit“ Playlist.- Zuvor erschien Mitte März die Singleauskopplung „Prada dem“ ft. Im deutschen Radio wurde „Prada Dem“ u.a. von MDR Sputnik, rbb Fritz und SWR DASDING in die Rotation aufgenommen.- Am 16.02 feierte Gunna mit dem Release der Leadsingle „Bittersweet“ den Auftakt zur neuen Albumkampagne. „Bittersweet“ stieg in die Top 40 in NZ und den US Hot R’n’B Charts ein sowie auf #82 der US Billboard Hot 100. Außerdem kommt die Single auf 32 Mio globale Streams und 5,5 Mio Klicks bei YouTube.- Erst im Juni letzten Jahres releaste Gunna sein viertes Studioalbum „A Gift & a Curse“, das folgende Chartplatzierungen erreichte: #3 US, #4 CA, #7 CH, #9 UK, #18 AT, #36 DE. Dame-Music founder Bloody Mary’s ‘ALTERNATE STATES OF REALITY’ EP marks the 50th release on a label that counts KiNK, Josh Wink, Boo Williams, Fear-E and Thomas P. Heckmann amongst its roster since it launched in 2010.

"Im Schwarzwald" ("Hamburg Spinners in the Black Forest") is the third album by the mod-jazz quartet Hamburg Spinners. The Hamburg Spinners are Carsten Meyer on organ, Dennis Rux on guitar, David Nesselhauf on bass and Lucas Kochbeck on drums.

"Im Schwarzwald" was recorded live in January 2024 at the legendary MPS studios in Villingen-Schwenningen to capture the band's sound 1:1, with only a few shouts and handclaps added afterwards. The songs offer the tried and tested swinging mix of soul, R&B and mod jazz. Meyer's soulful organ sound, reminiscent of Booker T. Jones, Ingfried Hoffmann and Georgie Fame, is carried by Rux's warm and gripping guitar sound, Nesselhauf's dynamic bass playing and Kochbeck's precise and tight drumming.
