On October 19th Kompakt presents a new LP and audiovisual venture by Danish producer Kasper Bjørke and close cohorts. Epic and in length but always captivating, 'The Fifty Eleven Project' is an entirely ambient concept album, that interprets and evokes the emotional rollercoaster Kasper experienced, from his cancer diagnosis and throughout the five years of regular check-ups. The week of album release marks his second anniversary of getting the all-clear.

The base of the album was composed on vintage analogue synthesizers, reverbs, echo and sequencers - using the computer solely as a recording device - by Kasper and synth wizard Claus Norreen, in the latter's Copenhagen studio.

The violins, violas and cellos are composed and played by the Italian composer Davide Rossi, who has also worked with Ennio Morricone, Jon Hopkins, Ro¨yksopp, The Verve and Goldfrapp.

The piano parts are composed and played by Danish musician Jakob Littauer (of Kompakt labelmates Jatoma) on an old upright piano in a studio, and on a Steinway Grand Piano in the concert hall at the Royal Danish Music Conservatorium. From Max Richter's 'SLEEP', Hannah Peel's 'Mary Casio: Journey To Cassiopeia', to much of Brian Eno's 'Music For Installations', 'The Fifty Eleven Project' continues in a rich vein of work by contemporary composers which explores a situation/condition, and is made with functionality and healing in mind.

The visual side of 'The Fifty Eleven Project' is made in collaboration with the culture laboratory Prxjects and acclaimed LA based artist/filmmaker/photographer Justin Tyler Close, who has created art films for each of the album's 11 tracks - plus one music video, including clips from all 11 films. The 11 films will be assimilated into a video exhibition at Klub in Copenhagen from 12th - 21st October. The ambition is that the installation will tour Europe and the US in 2019. Furnished in an exquisite fabric box, this 180 gram 3LP clear vinyl box is presented by cover art created by world-renowned artist Landon Metz, further cementing the release's multidisciplinary links to the art world.

Am 19. Die visuelle Seite von - The Fifty Eleven Project' entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kulturlabor Prxjects und dem renommierten Künstler/Filmemacher/Fotografen Justin Tyler Close aus LA, der für jeden der elf Tracks des Albums Kunstfilme erstellt hat - plus ein Musikvideo mit Clips von allen elf Filmen. Die elf Filme werden vom 12. bis 21. Oktober in einer Video-Ausstellung im Klub in Kopenhagen gezeigt. Ziel ist es, dass die Installation 2019 durch Europa und die USA tourt.

Seine Klassenkameraden hörten Grunge, während er Techno studierte, als die gleichen Klassenkameraden dann Techno entdeckten, hatte er sich bereits die HipHop DNA in Form von ITF und DMC Meisterschaften vorgenommen und als alle nach Berlin gingen um - Minimal' zu zelebrieren, blieb er in Köln und begab sich auf eine Exkursion in die Geschichte deutscher Elektronik- und Rockmusik - stets angezogen von den zwei Hauptmerkmalen dieser Ära: Präzision und Freies Spiel. Diese musikalischen Schlüsselpunkte und seine nun schon zwei Jahrzehnte dauernde DJ Erfahrung sind die Basis für die Formel aus Pathos, berechnendem Dilettantismus und Dance!oor-Funktionalität, die alle seine Produktionen kennzeichnet - von seinem Beitrag für Cologne Tape auf der EP Render, der ersten Veröentlichung auf seinem mit Jens-Uwe Beyer und Crato betriebenen Label Magazine, bis hin zu dem berüchtigten Geen. Render und seine Debut EP What Is A Number, That A Man May Know It wurden 2010 direkt zu Underground Hits und die Platten sind seitdem begehrte Sammlerstücke. Zu dieser Zeit war Barnt schon ein etablierter Teil der Musikszene Kölns, der Stadt in der er zunächst sein Biologiestudium abschloss und darauf noch ein Kunststudium folgen liess, was erneut die beiden Pole ,Präzision' und ,Freies Spiel' in seiner Entwicklung vereint. 17 years after first releasing a cassette EP from label boss Marsel van der Wielen under his Peel Seamus guise, Delsin is soon to hit the landmark category number of 100.
Truth is, taking into account choice re-issues and specials such as the recent house series, there have already been scores more than 100 releases. Nevertheless, in that time the Dutch label has become synonymous with a wide range of timeless sounds from house to techno to dub to electronica, nurturing and championing some of the most respect names in the scene.

To mark the occasion, the label is to release five new various artist EPs (100 copies will be special, limited and coloured vinyl exclusively available through the Delsin web shop with a collector's box) that will be compiled onto one special CD compilation come the final release.

'After many different life cycles, with this compilation I try to go back to the core of Delsin, to showcase more otherworldly/dreamy/soulful but still raw techno sounds from a selection of key artists who best represent the label,' says Marsel. 'The tracks are all individual offerings but are tied together with the common themes of the label, and as a compilation will paint a nice overall picture that is not shy of moving away from the dancefloor side of things.'

Across the five EPs you can expect tracks from newbies and old favourites alike, including Sawlin and Delta Funktionen, John Beltran and Bleak, Redshape and Convextion and plenty more. The first - like all of them - features three tracks, one each from Gerry Read, Unbroken Dub and Claro Intelecto.

2024 Repress
Following the legendary first two, stoically super minimal records “SOG 1“ and “SOG 2“ that provide ecstasy disguised as boredom on Kompakt Extra/Speicher in 2007, and the outstanding beautifully bizarre “SOG - Abweichung“ on Profan in 2010, we are now listening to “FREMDE HÄNDE“. Like its predecessors, this SOG stands in the tradition of „The Art of Omission“ with Wolfgang Voigt variegating his preference for the bluntly straightforward quaver bass in two different forms. The A-side contains a tonally noncommittal sequence ambling across the keyboard in quantised form, reminiscing of the arpeggiator (accompaniment function) function of early 70ies' and 80ies' synthesizers. On the B-side, daring and thoroughly unquantised quaver rhythms rock around a bass drum that, as the only straight element, tries to keep the whole thing together. The result sounds a little like a delirious Can Live.

Nach den legendären ersten beiden stoisch-superminimalen, als Langeweile getarnten Ekstase-Platten “SOG 1“ und “SOG 2“ auf Kompakt Extra/Speicher in 2007 und der überaus skurril-schönen “SOG - Abweichung“ auf Profan in 2010, hören wir nun “FREMDE HÄNDE“. Auch diese SOG steht natürlich ganz in der Tradition der “Kunst des Weglassens“. Wolfgang Voigt variiert hier seine Vorliebe für den stumpf-geraden Achtelbass auf zwei verschiedene Weisen. Auf der A-Seite haben wir eine tonal unverbindlich über die Tastatur wandernde Sequenz in quantisierter Form, die an die Arpeggiator (Begleitautomatik) Funktion früher 70er und 80er Jahre Syntheziser erinnert. Auf der B-Seite kreist die Achtel-Rhythmik in eher rockigem Sound ganz und gar unquantisiert und rhythmisch gewagt um die Bassdrum, die das Ganze als einzig gerades Element versucht zusammen zu halten. Das klingt ein bisschen wie Can live im Vollrausch.
