HUM001 is the label's debut release, featuring E-Funk / Twisty by Scarper.

Scarper is a London-based producer and DJ known for blending melodic electronica, broken rhythms and left-field club ideas into a sound that’s entirely his own. Over the past decade, a deep catalogue of albums, EPs and remixes has taken shape, alongside work in advertising, gaming, TV and short film.

‘E-Funk’ is a hybrid club weapon - part 2-step, part house, part breaks, all energy. A certified floor starter that lives in the bag and lands every time, especially when the room hits its stride.

‘Twisty’ is probably the most dancefloor-ready cut, but the solid broken grooves dancing around acid bass lines and bleeps on each of these nine thumping tracks could work any room at the right moment.

Blossoms return with their 6th studio album, ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’. Featuring singles 'Meet Me In Love' and 'Joke About Divorce', the Wedding Cake, nickname for Stockport’s Town Hall where band member Tom Ogden got married, spans 10 tracks and follows up the 2024 number 1 album 'Gary'. The album, produced by Shawn Lee, was recorded entirely to tape & is due for release 2nd October 2026.

“One day, I’ll be a ghost, a spirit, that moves with you along the winds,” pines Twin Atlantic’s Sam McTrusty on the beautiful and cinematic ballad ‘Your, The End’, the fitting opener to the Scottish alt-rockers’ eighth album ‘Separation From The Animals’. “It’s about the responsibility I feel around being a parent,” he says, revealing that he cried while recording his vocal over bandmate Ross McNae’s tender Beatles-y piano part. If the album says anything, it’s ‘All You Need Is Love’, told with maturity and reckoning with the past to make sense of the present. ‘Separation From The Animals’ is an album born of two tales of triumph and perseverance – one of McTrusty grappling with his own ghosts, and the other of their finest album to date coming after a time when band morale was at an all time low. When their friends’ bands and peers were all calling it quits, words of wisdom from those close to the band were urging them to take time off. The album started out as a McTrusty solo effort, isolated in his new home. The day the band finished work on their last album, 2024’s ‘Meltdown’, was also the day McTrusty packed up his entire life and studio to start a new life in Toronto with wife and two kids, unaware of the rich seam of songwriting that it would inspire.

Living Weapon returns with Death In The Family, a full-length that confronts mortality, meaninglessness, and the aftermath of existence. The release broken down over 23 minutes toward an unresolved end — life examined at its start and its finish, with the universe indifferent to either. Recorded, produced, and engineered by Jeremy Martin over fall 2025 into spring 2026 — the band's first time tracking a full album internally. Mixing handled by Taylor Young of The Pit Recording Studio and Mastering by Nick Townsend. The album is introduced with "The Leaving Process” laying out the album's core idea: life as connection, not permanence — matter created and destroyed, briefly aware of itself in between.

Komponist und Pianist Alexis Ffrench veröffentlicht sein neues Album "24". Es ist eine musikalische Reise, die den Zuhörer sanft vom Morgengrauen bis zum Abend begleitet. Es vereint 24 von Ffrench komponierte Originalstücke für Klavier, Streicher und dezente Percussion. Jedes Stück spiegelt die alltäglichen Momente wider, die unser Leben prägen. Das Album hat einen simplen und zugleich unerwarteten Entstehungspunkt: Bei einem Spaziergang durch London bemerkte Alexis ein Schild vor einer Kirche. Darauf wurde eingeladen "guten Kaffee für gute Zwecke" zu genießen. Die Wärme dieser Idee, die Alltäglichkeit, das Gefühl eines kleinen täglichen Rituals, das zu etwas Bedeutungsvollem wird - blieb ihm im Gedächtnis und wurde zur Inspiration für "Coffee Song". Alexis stellte sich die Frage: "Was wäre, wenn wir für jede Aktivität im Laufe des Tages ein bestimmtes Musikstück hätten?" Musik, die uns dabei hilft, jedem Moment bewusst zu begegnen und ihn wirklich zu erleben. Musik, als Weg zu einem achtsameren Leben. Alexis Ffrench ist ein Künstler mit einer besonderen Fähigkeit, Musik für die Seele zu schaffen. Seine Erfolge sprechen dabei für sich: Er hat über eine Milliarde Streams und ist damit einer der meist-gestreamten Pianisten weltweit. Im Laufe seiner Karriere hat Ffrench sich immer wieder eine Frage gestellt: "Was brauchen meine HörerInnen von mir?" 'Quiet Pieces' initiates Abul Mogard’s personal imprint Soft Echoes with a definitive self-portrait of calm, contemplative, and discreet inner landscapes made audible. It is the first solo album on vinyl in four years. RIYL Alessandro Cortini, William Basinski, The Caretaker.

While sifting through archived material left idle from earlier projects, a chance encounter with a late uncle’s trove of beloved 78rpm classical and opera records prompted the reworking and completion of what would eventually become the album. Spinning dusty records at 33 and 45rpm, Abul Mogard recombined their enduring spectres with unfinished sketches from his archive. The resulting soundscape blurs distinctions between his memories and those of another, exquisitely short-circuiting the senses with its waking, dream-like lucidity.

This was a process I hadn’t explored in my earlier works. I began sampling brief moments from these records, altering them with studio effects and playing them at slower speeds. In many cases, I wasn’t entirely sure how the original music sounded. These fragments, once further processed, became a source of inspiration for my new compositions. Over time, I realised that the old pieces from the archive and the new material derived from the samples naturally complemented each other.”

The resulting pieces hover over a threshold, a liminal space that harmonises the old and older material. Voluminous waves of quiet and loud undulate between consonance and dissonance, conjuring imagery of a decaying grandeur that humanity’s decadence has surrendered to the elements. Abul Mogard’s seemingly abandoned yet vast landscapes are nevertheless intimate with timbral frissons of red-lined distortion. Elusive, yet as tangible as sea spray or smog, they affect the olfactory senses with a rarified, synesthetic quality that modestly engages one’s emotional register – a hypnotic, distinguishing feature long hailed as one of the hallmarks of his work. A fidelity to memory and dream recall is sensitively probed in the journey from the stately symphonic stasis of 'Following a dream' to the almost industrial, untethered brutality evoked by a looming silhouette that’s never fully visible in 'Constantly slipping away', culminating in the foreboding coda of 'Like a bird'. Those pieces appear to shield the album’s sentimental core, where the tempestuous play of light and shadow of 'In a studded procession' escalates to breathtaking, panoramic climax, while 'Through whispers' evokes an out-of-body-like experience encountered with visceral poignancy.

Looking back, Mogard notes an unexpected influence: “I realise being inspired by Phill Niblock, whose work I had barely known at the time but explored after his passing in 2024. His album 'Boston Tenor Index' changed the way I approached dissonance. It encouraged me to push my sound further, to the edge of a space where I began to feel uncomfortable.”

The album artwork, created by longtime collaborator Marja de Sanctis, features a photograph taken at the Temple of Jupiter Anxur, an archaeological site overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Captured with an iPhone, the image traces the residual presence of construction techniques and architectural forms of the Romans, where material history is transcribed through contemporary tools. The convergence of ancient and modern technology aims to reverberate the site’s lasting spiritual presence – an echo persisting in what is now perceived as a quiet, emptied space. The spiral gestures towards infinity and light. Past and present dissolve into one another, reflecting 'Quiet Pieces' meditation on sound, memory, and time.

Battlefield sees No Ice Cream Sound knock on the door of the real foundations of Roots Reggae and Dancehall culture with a heavyweight, riddim-focused multi-vocalist release.

The release perfectly balances a bold and fresh contemporary sound while retaining the spirit; energy and rawness of the classic riddims we all know and love. Battlefield creates a sturdy platform for the carefully curated selection of vocalists to showcase their respective styles and patterns.

At the heart of the release is a unique vocal link-up that reflects the ever-growing globalisation of the Reggae Sound-system culture. Each of the men behind the microphones invites us to embark on a journey; connecting the dots on the map that represent the places they call home. We start in The South West of England and track across country to Southend-on-Sea; from here we make the mission all the way down to Madrid before taking a bearing on the North Star to guide us over hills and valleys to Scotland.

Where the riddim creates a constant, the vocals provide variety. Made by design the track allows them a spacious environment for the individual styles and messages to come across with precision and clarity.

Hailing from different backgrounds; accents of different origins, insights and perspectives drawn from their own stories all come together over one sound. This could be seen as an analogy of the ethos and motivation behind Reggae music itself. Reggae music as a genre tells the same story, Reggae artists tell their version of the story. Via this timeless format we are always building on the teachings of yesteryear while simultaneously learning something new. The gift that will forever more continue to give!

Die norwegische Punkband Aktiv Dödshjelp aus Oslo hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren in Ihrer Heimat
durch ihre explosiven Liveshows und nicht zuletzt durch ihre supermelodiösen Songs mit witzigen und
ironischen Texten einen hervorragenden Ruf erspielt. In den 17 Jahren seit ihrer Gründung im Jahre 2007
ist die Band pausenlos im Inland und Ausland getourt und präsentiert nun ihr zweites Album! Aktiv
Dödshjelp haben ihren Sound seit ihrem letzten Album ”Send Dudes” (das in 2025 für den norwegischen
Grammy als bestes Rockalbum nominiert war) perfektioniert und liefern auf dem neuen Album ”The Nasty
Piece” den perfekten Mix aus Punk und Rock. Wer auf norwegische Bands wie Turbonegro, The Good
The Bad and The Zugly und Kvelertak steht, wird Aktiv Dödshjelp lieben!
Für die neue Platte holte sich die Band diesmal Produzent Bendik Markovic Toming-Weston (brenn, TØFL,
Fred again.…) ins Boot, der laut der Band ”eine echte Pop-Hure” ist.
Natürlich haben es nur die stärksten Songs auf The Nasty Piece geschafft. Das Album enthält außerdem
die bereits veröffentlichten Singles „Jakter en Løve“, „Kjøttkverna“ und „Hun som sitter fast“ und mit
”Lazer Tag” den besten Turbonegro-Song, den Turbonegro nie geschrieben haben.

Recordings on ECM vereint, wie Pitchfork es formuliert hat, „einige der herausragendsten Werke des
Minimalismus-Komponisten Steve Reich, darunter die maßgebliche Aufnahme seines unbestrittenen Meisterwerks Music for 18 Musicians“. Die Sammlung umfasst die drei Steve-Reich-Alben, die zwischen 1978
und 1982 auf dem Label veröffentlicht wurden. Sie erscheinen als originalgetreue Faksimile-Ausgaben in
einem hochwertigen Kartonschuber mit einem Booklet, das Fotos aus dem Archiv sowie Manuskriptseiten
und Liner Notes von Paul Griffths enthält. Direkt von den originalen analogen Masterbändern gefertigt
(AAA) lassen die drei Vinyl-Ausgaben diese wegweisenden Aufnahmen, die längst zum Kanon der zeitgenössischen Musik gehören, in ihrer ursprünglichen Klangqualität neu strahlen. Die drei Alben enthalten
die Werke Music for 18 Musicians, Octet, Music for a Large Ensemble, Violin Phase und Tehillim und
dokumentieren somit die einflussreiche frühe Schaffensphase des Komponisten sowie seine künstlerische
Entwicklung über einen Zeitraum von fünfzehn Jahren. Die Box erscheint anlässlich des 90. Geburtstags
von Steve Reich im Oktober 2026.

Eine neue, transparent blaue 2LP-Variante dieses legendären Soundtracks anlässlich des 30-jährigen Jubiläums von Danny Elfmans Filmmusik zum Blockbuster „Mission: Impossible“ aus dem Jahr 1996.
Sie enthält das unverkennbare „Mission: Impossible“-Thema, das ursprünglich von Lalo Schifrin für die
Fernsehserie aus den 1960er Jahren komponiert und von Elfman für den ersten Film der Action-Reihe
mit Tom Cruise neu arrangiert wurde. Das Thema ist bekannt für seinen spannungsgeladenen Rhythmus
mit einer ungewöhnlichen 5/4-Taktart und das berühmte Vier-Noten-Motiv, das das Stück eröffnet: eine
musikalische Anspielung auf das Morsecode-Muster für die Buchstaben M.I. (‐‐ ··). Diese raffnierte Verschlüsselung verbindet das Thema nicht nur direkt mit dem Titel, sondern verstärkt auch die Atmosphäre
aus geheimer Kommunikation, verdeckten Operationen und Rätseln, die die Welt von „Mission: Impossible“
prägt

Unglaublich, aber es ist tatsächlich schon zwanzig Jahre her, dass Georg Danzers Album „Träumer“ veröffentlicht wurde. Damals allerdings ausschliesslich als CD, die heutzutage schon fast ein Wegwerfprodukt
wurde. Wer hätte sich gedacht, dass nach der langen Zeit seit der Erstveröffentlichung die grosse schwarze
Scheibe wieder in Mode gekommen ist.
Es lag daher nahe auch Georgs 33. und letztes Studioalbum erstmalig auf Vinyl zu veröffentlichen.
Somit erscheint rechtzeitig zu Danzers 80. Geburtstag „Träumer“ in einer ”20th Anniversary Edition”
als Doppelalbum auf blauem durscheinendem Vinyl mit zwei unveröffentlichten Liedern wie „Ollas hod
sein’ Preis“ das eigentlich für den Austria3-Film „Jackpot“ gedacht war und „Schwoazza Reg’n“, der ursprünglichen Version des Titelliedes „Träumer“.
Georg Tomandl hat alle Titel nach den Maßstäben der modernen Tontechnik neu gemastered.
Die von Gerhard Weber liebevoll gestaltete Klapphülle inklusive aller Texte auf den Innenhüllen verleiht
dieser Veröffentlichung noch zusätzlichen Charme und sollte daher in keinem Plattenschrank fehlen.
Das geschichtsträchtige österreichische Plattenlabel Label „Amadeo“ feiert dieses Jahr sein 70-jähriges
Bestehen. Mit Georg Danzers musikhistorisch bedeutsamen Werk wollen wir gemeinsam Österreichische
Musikidentität feiern.

Ready to take our streets back? Kill the Colossi sind wohl eine der spannendsten neuen Bands aus England und haben mit ihrer (zuerst nur) selbstveröffentlichten Debut-CD "Braces for Impact" vor zwei Jahren sofort für weltweite Beachtung in der Szene gesorgt (mittlerweile auf Vinyl von Sunny Bastards erhältlich)! Kein Wunder die aggressive Mischung aus "in your face"-OI!-Shoutern und markanten Streetpunk-Melodien umrahmt von fetten Gitarrensound und wohlplatzierten Singalongs knallen alles weg. Vergleiche mit Kalibern wie "Lion's Law" machten schnell die Runde. Das Ox-Magazin schrieb zurecht: "KILL THE COLOSSI sind neben THE CHISEL die gegenwärtig wohl beste englische Oi!-Punk-Combo." Und selbst die Metalszene wurde auf die Band aufmerksam (Rock Hard 9/10) und bescherte der Band eine Einladung zum Kuhzi-Festival. Cosmic Ritual, the early recording alias of Joaquin Joe Claussell, emerged during the formative years of his journey-with at the time the young and visionary Spiritual Life Music label. From those beginnings came For The Loft in You, a composition whose atmospheric language would travel far beyond its original moment-helping shape a sonic vocabulary that continues to resonate throughout the deeper realms of contemporary dance music.

Its influence can still be felt today: in the spaces between rhythm and silence, in the textures of deep house, ambient soul, spiritual jazz, and in productions created by artists who continue to explore the unseen dimensions of sound.

Now, after its long journey through the cosmos, Cosmic Ritual returns.

At the heart of this new chapter is “Kanita (Forgiveness Is a Beautiful Thing)”, a composition that journeys even further inward-toward the more atmospheric, introspective, and soundscape-oriented side of Joaquin Joe Claussell’s musical spirit.

It is music for the inner traveler.

And as another celestial passage, the release also offers a special Cosmic Tribute to Nujabes Titled "Heaven", Nujabes is a deeply admired artist whose work transcended boundaries and whose musical spirit continues to inspire generations across cultures and continents-even after his untimely departure.

Duality makes his debut on Up Ya Archives with a single rooted in the foundations of 90s jungle but shaped distinctly by contemporary sound design, epitomising his unique take on modern junglism. Intricate breakbeats and classic jungle textures are anchored by weighty 808s that guide the flow of the track, while influences from footwork, hardcore and drum & bass sets the track firmly into the space of progressive junglism. When asked on the single, Duality said

A rising star in Bristol’s underground dance scene, Duality is staking a claim within the new wave of jungle.

2026 Repress

Baxter Dury’s eighth album, 'Allbarone', seemed to be done and dusted after release last autumn, yet super-producer Paul Epworth (Adele, U2) decided it was a good idea to work on extensions of five of tracks from the album. Not just extensions - full on electro-disco mixes that take tracks apart from the edges and reorder them into relentless dance floor tools built to perfectly soundtrack the small hours.

Each track finds a groove and takes its journey right through the middle of the original track, to create classic 12" extended remixes, adding a whole load of echoing dub over flickering percussion tracks, madly addictive basslines and gloriously languid disco rhythm tracks. From 'Kubla Khan’s hefty low-end groove to 'Alpha Dog’s deconstructed nightclub dub via 'Schadenfreude’s Eurodisco bass and fizzing hi-hat pulse, Paul Epworth’s phenomenal new mixes lift Baxter’s tracks up to another level.

Laura Nyro was an astonishing talent. She was born into a musical family in The Bronx, NY in 1947; her father, Louis Nigro (pronounced Nigh-gro), was a jazz trumpeter, and music was her coping mechanism during a difficult childhood. By the time she was 8 she had taught herself to play piano and was composing her own songs, and during high school she would sing with a group of Puerto Rican friends, harmonising on street corners and in subway stations.

Oscar Perry may not be a household name even in soul/blues circles, but this Texan's fine and expansive body of work deserves greater recognition. Throughout his career, he demonstrated multifarious talents as a producer, arranger, singer, songwriter and guitarist. He first cut his teeth in the late 1960s on Don Robey's Duke/Peacock/Backbeat set-up, writing for Bobby Bland amongst others. Once his contract with Robey had lapsed, Oscar signed with the equally colourful character Huey P. Meaux, for whom he recorded a slew of excellent albums on the Crazy Cajun imprint. It is the source of the three self-penned tracks presented here. Echoes of Jerry Butler can be heard on the string-laden emotive ballad "We'll Spend Tomorrow Falling In Love" (co-written with studio engineer Mickey Moody) with its femme support, whilst the piano-led deep beat-ballad "End Of The Road" was subsequently recorded by Bland on his Dreamer LP for ABC-Dunhill in 1974. The strong, mid-paced, bluesy "I Give Up You Win" completes this wonderful EP.

YARN welcomes René Audiard for its tenth release with "Makes Me Feel", a four-track EP from one of underground electronic music’s most singular voices.

Across years of dub techno, minimal and leftfield electronic experimentation, René has developed an approach to stripped-down music that feels anything but limited. Where minimalism can often become an exercise in taking things away, his work finds possibility in what remains. "Makes Me Feel" is a particularly fitting example: immersive, at times strange, but always full of feeling.

‘Lovin’ opens the EP in familiar Audiard territory: murky low-end, locomotive groove, reduced rhythmic compositions and an understated framework swimming in a pool of detail. 'Possession' lets in more light. Vocal echoes, persistent rhythms and occasional string phrases give it a cinematic quality, while a groove that seems to circle endlessly takes on an almost shamanistic pull. The EP’s 11-minute behemoth, 'Flesh', fills most of the release’s B-side while making a convincing case for patience and sophistication. There are echoes of minimal’s golden age here, but Audiard never mistakes repetition for standing still. Tiny rhythmic fragments sit alongside expansive orchestral gestures, with samples working at every scale of the arrangement. Warmth and cinematic drama run through the track, but it's the playful programming underneath that keeps it moving. 'Night' closes the record on a different note, recalling Audiard’s work with Ali Çakır in Düve. Percussive samples, accordion and Middle Eastern guitar phrases bring a more acoustic character to his reduced 808-infused broken beats, making for a playful, occasionally melancholic ending with a distinctly microtonal feel.

What makes René Audiard’s music so rewarding is how readily you recognize his hand in it. There is a particular grain to the sounds, a way of placing details within a groove, and a willingness to follow an idea wherever it leads. Across “Makes Me Feel”, those instincts give four quite different tracks a shared identity. Even when working within familiar forms, Audiard makes them sound entirely his own. It’s the holy grail of music production: a personal sound signature. And a thoughtful addition to YARN’s growing repertoire of reduced, sophisticated dancefloor music.

Throughout the 1970s founder Henry Stone’s TK Records rose up to be one of the most important forces in black music, successfully pioneering the evolution in musical fashions from the early gritty funk and soul at the start of the decade to the arrival of disco in the mid-70s. This album is a rollercoaster journey across soul, funk, disco and boogie, a party-rocking dancefloor-filling collection of monster tracks that includes million-selling hits such as Betty Wright’s classic ‘Clean Up Woman’, Timmy Thomas’s ‘Why Can’t We Live Together’, T-Connection’s ‘Do What You Wanna Do’, anthemic rare groove club hits including Gwen McCrae’s massive ‘All This Love I’m Giving’ and Milton Wright’s ‘Keep It Up’, plus a host of hard-to-find gems and rarities from the likes of Raw Soul Express, Chocolate Clay, Beginning of the End, Robert Moore, Clarence Reid, Little Beaver, Paulette Reeves and many more. TK Records functioned more like a close-knit family than a typical record company. Based in the industrial Hialeah district of Miami, music man Henry Stone surrounded himself with a host of creative artists, musicians, songwriters and producers who created an immediately identifiable TK sound as well as making musical stars out of many of its artists

After the last latin flavoured joint on the label, we head to an all out Funk and Jazz party with a couple of cover versions of dancefloor favourites, never on a vinyl 7” before - given an added makeover for a double sided 45 bomb.

“I Want You Forward” takes a big band version of the Jackson 5 monster hit originally released on an LP. After being chopped,looped and layered with sound FX plus JA hype vocals to take it to the next level - this has been a favourite dubplate to start DJ sets with a bang !

“Psychedelic Drummer” is the Horace Silver penned soul-jazz cut that spawned various other vocal and instrumental versions that have been dancefloor favourites in mod clubs and funky jazz sessions over decades. Originally a very short track on a private press LP - it was the massive drums that made this ripe for more exposure with nothing more added - just cut-up, rearranged and extended for club play.

UK underground legend Acerbic aka Ant, Chicago Loop and many other alias returns to Perc Trax after the huge success of this Acerbic remix of Perc's 'Imperial Leather' last year. A regular on labels such as Stay Up Forever, Cluster, Hydraulix, Maximum Minimum and his own Power Tools label, now it is time for his over overdue first full EP for Perc Trax. Across the four tracks on the Doom Circuit EP Acerbic sets out is vision of club techno. Hard driving and powerful with a constant sense of forward momentum. Opening track 'Doom Circuit' has been a key part of Perc's sets for months now. Acid techno without the acid as a succession of computer bleeps take over the role a 303 would usually play in tracks like this. Next up 'Lukla' floats echoing lead lines, looping house music stabs and just a touch of London underground acid to create a fusion of key underground sounds. B1 track 'Metroliner' is the most energetic track on the EP as a stomping kick and clap rhythm is topped off synths stabs reminiscent of Luke Slater's classic 'Forklift. Finally 'Helter-Skelter' takes things down a notch to finish the EP to focus more percussion intricacy making it the perfect mixing tool for the more creative DJ.

,Memoria", das neueste Album von Carmen Villain auf Smalltown Supersound, beginnt wie ein geöffnetes Ventil; ausatmende Flötenakkorde füllen langsam eine weite Klanglandschaft und laden den Zuhörer dazu ein, das Tempo zu drosseln und in einen Zustand des tiefen Zuhörens einzutreten. Es ist eine Einleitung, die gekonnt in ein Album aus verlangsamten, spektralen Dub-Klängen führt, die schimmern, knurren und über die narrativ geordneten sieben Titel hinweg ausklingen. In dieser Hinsicht knüpft ,Memoria" dort an, wo Villain mit ihrem 2022 erschienenen Album ,Only Love from Now On" aufgehört hatte, auch wenn der Schwerpunkt des aktuellen Albums auf Klang als Erinnerung liegt - und auf Erinnerungen als sich wandelnde, nicht statische Unvollkommenheiten. Wiederholung fungiert als neu erzählte Erinnerung; die Bearbeitung zersetzt und formt den Klang neu, und Abstraktion ermöglicht eine Art Freiheit von Linearität. Inspiriert von Pauline Oliveros' Schriften über innerlich abrufbare Klänge, die für andere unhörbar sind, sowie von Apichatpong Weerasethakuls Film ,Memoria" aus dem Jahr 2021, betrachtet Villain die Erinnerung sowohl als kognitive Fähigkeit als auch als Form der Komposition und formt Samples aus ihrem eigenen Archiv zu einer kosmischen Selbstbeobachtung - wenn auch zu einer, die das Gegenteil von Solipsismus ist. Der nach innen gerichtete Blick des Albums lässt sich vom tiefen Zuhören als Form der Empathie inspirieren, das uns gleichzeitig mit uns selbst und unserer Umgebung verbindet. Die Arbeit der letzten Jahre an Kompositionen für zeitgenössischen Tanz und Installationen - darunter Kooperationen mit der Choreografin Eszter Salamon und ein Aufenthalt am IRCAM, bei dem sie erstmals ambisonische Räumlichmachung erforschte - prägt ebenfalls die verstärkte Aufmerksamkeit, die ,Memoria" dem Klang als physischem Raum und immersiver Umgebung widmet. Ein Großteil von ,Memoria" basiert auf einer Kombination aus neuen Aufnahmen und älterem Archivmaterial: Aufnahmesessions mit der häufigen Mitwirkenden Johanna Orellana (Flöten) sowie Eivind Lonning (Trompete) werden neben Villains eigenen Klarinettenaufnahmen zerlegt und zu einer dichten, aber luftigen Sample-Bank neu zusammengesetzt. Die viszerale menschliche Präsenz (Atem, Wind, die Körperlichkeit der Luft, die durch Instrumente strömt) und harmonische Stränge des Free Jazz treten durch mehrere Bearbeitungsschichten hindurch zutage, als hörte man sie aus der Ferne - oder durch die Zeit hindurch. Rhythmen und Texturen lösen sich auf. Der Klang erodiert. Erinnerungen werden neu gestaltet. Und Melodien sind, anders als auf Villains früheren Veröffentlichungen, weniger deutlich und weichen anderen musikalischen Leitmotiven. Es lässt sich eine Tradition zurückverfolgen, die zu Rhythm & Sound, Clicks-and-Cuts, Pharoah Sanders, Jon Hassell, Actress und Ricardo Villalobos führt - wenn auch oft in abstrakten Formen: Kleine Klänge werden groß, während große in einen feinkörnigen Rhythmus zurücktreten. Minimalismus ist der Schlüssel, um die Details wahrzunehmen: knisternde Elektronik, Einatmen und Seufzer hallen in weiten Räumen nach und ruhen auf einem Fundament aus Rhythmus. Nonclassical are proud to release Nneka Cummins’ Ivor Classical Award-winning finding gills (when they try to drown you), pairing the original orchestral work with its remix, finding gills realms and possibilities.

Originally commissioned and composed during Nneka’s time on nonclassical’s Artist in Residence programme and premiered by Sinfonia Smith Square in 2025, the work marks their first large-scale exploration of fixed electronics alongside chamber orchestra. Built entirely from its source material, the remix dissolves the perceived sacredness and permanence of orchestral music, stretching, warping and reassembling its fragments into a fluid electronic form.

Drawing on fragments of earlier compositions, Finding Gills embodies both destruction and creation, embracing the spirit of metamorphosis. Inviting the listener to sit in moments of dissonant discomfort and distress, an emerging sense of hope gradually reveals itself through radiant strings and spiralling melodies. Hinting at a sense of tiredness that is continually renewed, sparks of new life blossom within a shifting orchestral landscape where memory, experimentation and survival coexist.

The title alludes to the Afrofuturist mythology of Drexciya, imagined by Detroit duo James Stinson and Gerald Donald, in which the descendants of pregnant African women who were thrown overboard during the transatlantic slave trade adapted to breathe underwater, creating a new civilisation beneath the sea. Nneka draws on this subtle reference as they are inspired by the deep creative alchemy of transforming horror into vibrant and powerful myth.

FIRST TIME ON VINYL! “Instalação Do Samba”, originally released in 2004, has become one of the defining albums in the history of Schema Records. With producer Stefano “S-Tone Inc.” Tirone, Toco created an album that embraced the essence of samba and bossa nova while allowing them to breathe naturally within a contemporary musical landscape, blending Jazz, soul, understated electronics and sophisticated arrangements. Released only on CD at the time, “Instalação Do Samba” is finally given the analogue home it always deserved. This first-ever vinyl edition also includes “Qui C’Est Celui-Là”, previously included in the French CD edition. Over the years, Toco has become the most streamed artist in the entire Schema catalogue, introducing his music to audiences beyond the traditional boundaries of Brazilian jazz and contemporary bossa nova. His songs continue to resonate with listeners around the world, proving that authenticity never goes out of style.

As Brice shares, "Anybody can see a sunset, but a sunrise, you gotta earn. Whether you're waking up or just pulled an all-nighter, I tip my hat to you, sunriser." Written in collaboration with British jazz pianist and organist Kit Downes, the album was recorded in the hushed, reverberant atmosphere of Bragernes Kirke in Norway in November 2024 - a setting that lends the record an intimate, almost sacred stillness. The album was mixed and mastered by Jorgen Traeen. The album takes its title from the landmark 14th- century mystical text by Julian of Norwich - the first book known to have been written in English by a woman. Sundfor encountered Julian's writing around the same time she and Downes were performing together in churches in 2024, and the timing felt fated.
