Label father Sirus Hood and Mood Child favourite Trangaz join forces to craft two original bangers, ‘Ghetto Corazon’ and ‘Boothy’, while Manda Moor, Mood Child's mother, spices things up with two different versions of remixes of the second track.

‘Ghetto Corazon’ is one of those tracks that ignites the dancefloor and highlights a DJ set. It’s primal, unique, tribal, and groovy. It has a Techno vibe with its high BPM and killer kick drum that has the power to tremble any dancefloor.
We can sense the Latin roots with the Spanish vocal singing "mi corazon" and the African flair with its broken swing percussion pattern.

‘Boothy’ is a playful acid-led tune enhanced by a unique hi-hat game, with vocals from Trangaz himself talking about the DJ booth adventures. The vocal depicts situations that are bound to happen in any club.

Manda Moor delivers two different remixes of ‘Boothy’: a ‘Punchy’ and a ‘Spicy’ remix. Her ‘Punchy’ rendition is vinyl only and adds a dirty punch to the original, while her ‘Spicy’ version has all the essence of the ‘Manda Moor groove’ - an addictive drum pattern with her unique style that is recognised right away. She is known for her picante sound, adding the perfect spice to this EP.

This release showcases the best of the heat from three minds with different roots. An irresistible melting pot, with early supports from all stars like the king Carl Cox and The Martinez Brothers.

The title track "Who You Are" has become a dance floor favourite making appearances during Templé's DJ sets opening for the likes of Rick Wilhite, Osunlande, Trus’me, Rahaan, Alkalino, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Hidden Spheres and Harvey Sutherland.

It's the kind of track that can get the party started, keep it going or close it out with its tough verses, 303 acid line, drum machine build up and poppy chorus. It’s so versatile that it’ll never leave your record bag. Staying with side A, the EP's charm is further amplified by Prins Thomas's magical remix of the title track.

This luminary of the electronic music scene adds his Nordic touch in only the way that he knows how. Delicately weaving his disco sensibilities into the fabric of the original track, making the chorus the break down, turning the original track on its head. This one will get you in the feels.

Flipping the record over to the B-side, we encounter "Wait For Love." It's a powerhouse of a track, driven by a rolling acid bass line and a saxophone solo that lands right in the sweet spot, ensuring the party never stops.

The vocals soaked in effects and skilfully sliced and diced, guides the listener's focus making it the perfect tune for those late night dance floor occasions. Then there's "The Tetrah" - a departure from the rest of the EP. It's a deeper and more intricate piece featuring the soulful interplay of saxophone and trumpet throughout. These two instruments seem to tease and tantalise each other, never quite aligning until the final drop. It's a near 9-minute journey and each moment holds your attention.

A firm favourite of the likes of Mr Scruff and Sadar Bahar, ‘Just Keep My Boogie’ is that uplifting slice of boogie that is a tried and tested dancefloor bomb. The brightest of funk keys dance around delicious little guitar licks as those infectious vocals burrow their way into your brain.

Take to the B side for another staple, and go-to gem, for some of the biggest around including, Antal, Hunee, Ge-ology and Sadar Bahar. ‘Happy Music’ is one of those funk-heavy, mesmerising cuts that seemingly evaporates all prior worries and instantly injects the urge to dance, no matter the scenario.

The Lovely Eggs return with new single 'My Mood Wave' to be released February 9th digitally & on a 7" single to follow March 15th. New album due in May. It's been four years since the world heard any new music from our heroes in psych-punk-power duo The Lovely Eggs. Four long years since the release of their Number 1 Independent Chart topper, 'I Am Moron'. But it's not like they've been lazy, oh no. They made their own TV series EGGS TV and hosted it on YouTube, they duetted with Iggy Pop, piled into their van and played a load of sold out gigs and festivals, spent two years fighting to save Lancaster Music Co-Op (a community rehearsal rooms and recording studio where they live), and then they got their heads down and wrote a new album_ Due in May, the new Lovely Eggs album was recorded by the band at home in Lancaster with production work from Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann. They flew to America in December 2023 to mix the album in Fridmann's studio in upstate New York and we'll all get the chance to hear the first results of these sessions on the 9th of February, when the band will unveil the album's first single, 'My Mood Wave'. "My Mood Wave is kind of an internal thought monologue," says Eggs singer and guitarist Holly. "It's a brain on a surfboard, trying to navigate the barrage of daily shit that gets washed up each day. It's a coping mechanism handbook for people who sometimes find the world too much." 'My Mood Wave' has an uplifting contemporary feel, haunted by a West Coast retro vibe that pulses and shimmers with a gorgeously addictive melody that will float around your head for days. Although the single will be released digitally on February 9th, there will also be a physical 7" with the customary mind-bulging artwork from Casey Raymond, and an exclusive track tantalisingly titled 'Crab Shell' on the flipside. Sourced from the analog master tapes for the first time, Sharp-Flat presents the WITCH disco albums as you've never heard them before in sleeves that replicate the original album artwork.

Over the course of the 1970s, WITCH delivered an impressive run of garage, rock and prog releases. By 1980, the band was ready for a new chapter. Shuffling their lineup and relocating to Zimbabwe, they undertook their mythical transformation into an African R&B, soul and funk powerhouse. With access to a state of the art recording studio in Harare, WITCH produced two exquisite albums from 1980 to 1984.

With crisp beats, funky bass, swirling synths and tight horns, 1980's Movin' On was a sharp departure from the group's Zamrock roots and made no bones about the fact that the WITCH was ready to embrace the sound and spirit of a new decade. Trading lead vocals with founding member Chris Mbewe are newcomers Christine Jackson and Stanford Tembo, making for a well rounded set that combines dance floor burners with mid-tempo boogie grooves. A carefully crafted, great sounding album from a seasoned ensemble, Movin' On is an African pop classic.

Episode six of the Afterhours. saga is here. Veteran sound crafter Jay Tripwire joins forces with Real Gang's Danny Miller for a three-cut EP delving deep into highly textured, exquisitely detailed minimal arrangements.

The appropriately named "Greasy Grooves" juxtaposes three groove-centred compositions of different tonal energy yet similarly high levels of sophistication. A-Side's 'Cut001' carries a definitive after-hours vibe: evolving atmospheres, stomping rhythmic arrangements, airy melodic pads and growling textures — basically all the right ingredients for the post-sunrise periods of resilient raving. B-Side's 'Cut002' is the most cinematic, even enigmatic, offering here. But regardless of its eerie character, its focus is still very much on drum arrangement and incessant locomotive swing. 'Cut003' closes the EP with prime-time vibes, cow-belling through a slightly acidic, powerfully dubby techno groove.

Bolina Records, born in Italy and based in Stockholm, is the brainchild of the Cerrado Studio crew, a dynamic team of artists and DJs who have been organizing events and innovative initiatives since 2008.

Veteran DJ-producer Sebra Cruz (formerly of Margot and A&R for Bolina Records), after releasing his debut album with Life And Death by Dj Tennis, has teamed up with his protégé, Giacomo Cancellieri. Over the years, Cancellieri has become one of Sebra's favorite artists, with Sebra often describing him as a truly brilliant mind, consistently impressed by the new tracks he produces. Giacomo has notable releases on Rebellion and Margot Records.

"Rollerball," titled after Norman Jewison's 1975 film, carries a powerful anti-war message. It includes 4 versions plus an acapella, the latter intended to encourage DJ-producers of various genres to incorporate it in their tracks, thereby spreading the anti-war message on dance floors worldwide.

The original mix captures the essence of intimate club settings — intense yet lucid, with a sound texture fitting for an underground label. It continuously and forcefully spreads the anti-war message with deep seriousness.

The Funky Vocal Mix offers an Italo-French vibe, blending the smooth ambiance of 2000s dance music with a raw vocal tone.

Buck's version, hailing from Otranto, a quaint seaside town in the extreme south of Italy and owner of Substrato label, is marked by solid, rolling grooves that complement a deep and refined atmosphere.

Delphi's remix, one half of Tiger And Woods with Marco Passarani, completes the set. Its arrangement skillfully connects Chill and Detroit styles, infusing the project with a sense of robustness and insight.

Heels & Souls Recordings roll into reissue number eight with a double dose of early '90s UK street soul magic, splitting the sides between two sought-after cuts from Elaine Vassell and 3rd Zone.

Step back to 1993, house music has hit, UK Soul is in full flow and its rawer, DIY street soul sibling is making its mark across the UK’s underground. Fuelled by accessible, affordable production gear and ignited through enthusiasm and an influx of ideas and sounds, two acts drew inspiration from a melting pot of genres they were exposed to, providing their take on soul as they saw it.

Up first, Elaine Vassell - ‘Never Give Up’. A rough breakbeat-driven, mid-tempo groover from a North West London production triple threat, made up of Longsy D, Pinky and Murray. Utilising Pinky’s home studio with its DX7, Juno 106, LinnDrum and 808, they masterminded a track that sits at the intersection between soulful house, hip hop and R&B. Its crunching drum loop, chest-rattling low-end and serene synth lines, lay the foundation for Elaine’s powerful yet emotive voice to take centre stage. ‘Never Give Up’ should have been a future classic, but never quite found its feet.

On the flip side another 1993 gem, as Sansel Ali and twin brothers Mark and Stephen Anglin joined forces to form 3rd Zone. Conceived in Mark’s makeshift bedroom studio, the trio laid down their first foray into recorded music, ‘You Stole My Heart’. Originally promoed as a limited whitelabel in 1991, it officially landed on the group's one and only EP ‘No Real Reason' in '93.

Armed with a handful of synth modules, a drum machine and a Korg M1, Mark, Stephen and Sansel hit with a tough but tender, underground triumph. Part dance, part romance, layering synth strings, chunky breaks and M1 stabs underneath Sansel’s heartstrung vocals and Stephen’s hip house rap interlude, it provides another perfect example of house seen through the street soul prism.

Two timeless tracks that fly the flag for the fact that big studios and big budgets aren't necessary to create songs that really resonate. Each side also contains an alternate version, with the A housing a beatless reprise of ‘Never Give Up’ and the B a tougher, bassier remix of ‘You Stole My Heart’.

Free Hand was Gentle Giant's seventh album, originally released in July 1975. This album was the most commercially successful of the band's career, reaching the top 40 albums in Billboard Magazine. It stands as the culmination of the band's maturity, following the successes of 'In A Glass House' & 'The Power & The Glory'.

Having toured Europe & North America non-stop in the years prior to this release with artists like Jethro Tull, Yes, Zappa etc, the band had gone from strength to strength. By the time 'Free Hand' was released Gentle Giant had become a major headliner in their own right. All the members were multi-instrumentalists and the band were never afraid of surprising an audience with a 4 part recorder ensemble followed by a vibraphone solo, all the while rocking the audience and thoroughly enjoying themselves onstage.

Gentle Giant albums featured many songs with both literary subjects as well as social and personal commentary on life as rock musicians. 'Free Hand' has more than most. The title of the album and first track were so named as the band had just changed record labels and management and felt unshackled by prior contractual obligations.
Putting these issues behind them upon its first release, Gentle Giant embarked on an extensive tour of North America and Europe, plus a short tour of the UK, to promote the album. The incredible range of Gentle Giant's music is evident throughout this album. From the intricate vocal fretwork of 'On Reflection' and the delicate medieval
flavour of 'Talybont,' the Celtic-tinged rock of 'Time To Kill' and the jagged rhythms of 'Just The Same,' all those diverse elements which made the band so strikingly original are skillfully blended and perfectly executed.
Award winning producer and musician Steven Wilson has added his delicate touch in remixing 'Free Hand' . His tonal range and painstaking attention to sound quality make 'Free Hand' sound as fresh today as it did on first release. A fitting tribute to the compositional skills and expertise of five dedicated musicians.

We’re kicking off the new year in style with a fantastic new double header by RAXON. This Egypt-born, barcelonese powerhouse has left his scent marks all over the place in recent years. Broken Techno/Electronica label Theoretical Rhythms is back with another vinyl release. This time it is a 4-track compilation EP called "Confessions". Featuring a carefully curated selection of tracks from diverse artists, "Confessions" takes you on a journey through emotions, melodies, and introspective narratives. Each track serves as a musical confession, laying bare the artists' innermost thoughts and experiences. The compilation opens with Varna's own Virtually J who masterfully sets the tone for the entire collection with his composition. From there, listeners are guided through a sonic landscape that seamlessly blends genres, showcasing the rich tapestry of musical expression. London duo Getae are showcasing their talent with the dance floor filler "Stumble" and Getsu opens the door to another dimension with his story "Otklonenie". With its minimal composition, broken beats and various effects Getsu invites us to divert from our path and experience another world. The EP concludes with Nickel Eye's "Lodi", a story that starts on a darker side with repetitive rhythm to transform to a jazz epos.

Purple Vinyl Repress is coming

One of Smiths favourite pieces of music, At Les, has been a remix target of his for a long time but earlier this year inspiration and motivation combined and resulted in two brilliant interpretations which were immediately sent to Carl Craig, purely out of respect. Craig loved them, granted his permission and approval for a special remix package release on Tronic and now, here we are with one of the biggest releases of 2010.

Delivered in both Tronic Treatment and Hypnotica Remix forms, Smith has taken the originals warmth, musicality and emotion and given them the sort of energy and power which has made him one of the most bankable producers of recent years.

The Tronic Treatment remix starts slow but with careful and patient layering of melodies builds to an epic, peak time track which takes on an almost orchestral feel while the aptly titled Hypnotica Remix takes a slightly more aggressive, loopier and hypnotic take.

ISOR29 with a six track mini-album titled ‘Moon Phase Gardening’. ISOR29 is a new project from Columbian musician Tomas Garcia Station and follows on from his highly regarded 2020 debut release under the ‘Irie Nation’ moniker.

The title ‘Moon Phase Gardening’ (also referred to as Gardening by the Moon or Planting by the Moon) draws upon the idea that the lunar cycle affects plant growth. Just as the Moon’s gravitational pull creates the tides of the oceans, it also creates more moisture in the soil, which encourages growth.

Evolving out of forced time off, individual confrontation and the love for someone close, ‘Moon Phase Gardening’ was recorded in the living room of an old flat in Lisbon during the first lockdown. Using only a microphone, computer, Korg MS20, hang drum and a field recorder, ISOR29 channels Tomas’ musical vocabulary via electronics to reflect an immersive and self-reflective story bound to a uniquely powerful time and space.

Making a remarkable step onto the CEP booth, Blame The Mono introduces their debut with a magnetic collection of two game changing original tracks. This release not only displays the duo's creative capabilities but also features melting remixes from Hermeth and the label head riko.

The release kicks off with the 'Kneebreaker Mix', showcasing a top-tier interplay of reese bass. The pushing bassline and dynamic vocals provide the track with its living strength. In addition to the effects, the midsection break-beat mirrors the timeless sound of Blame The Mono, showering the listener with unmistakable recognition value. Coming up next is likely the standout piece from the release. The 'Industrial Mix' manifests as a 117 BPM break, highlighting an remarkable synergy of hitting kicks, spicy drums, and leading vocals. This track radiates a rock and metal-inspired vibe, making it truly one-of-a-kind. There’s something to be said for getting noticed, for standing out from the crowd. West London’s T.Williams is one of those people, having accomplished a full sweep of merited recognition over the years. Emerging onto the house scene in 2010, T.Williams instantly marked himself as a breakthrough artist with a difference; his unique take on house music turning heads.

Far from a newcomer, his path as a musical artist started in the grime scene as Dread.D. Signed at the tender age of 17 with grime anthem Invasion on Jon E Cash’s Black Ops label, Williams went on to have mass success in the grime and bass world selling thousands of singles worldwide. After a five-year reign, Williams found himself veering towards the world of house music. With a new found love for the sound and its sub-genres, T.Williams forged a signature sound influenced by his grime days, jungle, and garage. With a style that undoubtedly impacts, T.Williams’ crossover has been the catalyst for his success. Not only rife with groove and feeling but meticulously produced and engineered with deep rumbling basslines, the unapologetic bounce of grime and smooth vocals that bleed through African infused percussion work.

While in 2010 the industry took note when hit record ‘Heartbeat’ featuring vocalist Terri Walker made an impression, it was throughout 2011 that T.Williams defined himself - releasing solo works on his imprint Local Action and Pattern with remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Ben Westbeech and Skream. Not stopping at pricking the ears of fellow artists and those on the dancefloor, the end of 2011 saw Williams nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ by DJ Mag, ‘DJ Stars of 2012’ by Time Out and featured in The Guardian.

Two relationships came to the forefront in 2012 that propelled Williams to greater heights. The first was his weekly show on legendary London station, Rinse FM and the second, Williams’ relationship with label PMR through his remix of Javeon McCarthy’s ‘Lost Time’. The remix was named Record of the Week by BBC Radio 1 and supported by tastemakers Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton. From here T. signed to the label exclusively releasing his debut EP for the label in September 2012, and in the process receiving further support from BBC Radio 1. Further remixes of Mikky Ekko, Wretch 32 and Lianne La Havas followed suit, as well as his biggest to date - Disclosure’s ‘Latch’. Powering dancefloors across the globe, T. went on to play three US tours, numerous festival stages, and deliver a second EP on PMR titled ‘Feelings Within’. The EP once again spanned a number of bases, from club bangers to heartfelt vocal driven tracks alike. Gaining his own monthly residency show with BBC Radio 1, 2013 ended with T. having played over 100 shows across four continents.

2017 marked the launch and release of the first collaborative EP with UK producer Julio Bashmore, via their joint independent Conch Records, a label aiming to push out more underground cross-genre music with heavy rotation from the likes of Moxie and Shy One. With an ever-expanding global tour schedule and further solo releases on the legendary NYC house label Strictly Rhythm turning heads, T.’s upward trajectory has never showed signs of slowing down. Selected to soundtrack the social media campaign for boxer Anthony Joshua in 2019 and now using his technical prowess as a musician to educate the next generation of rising stars at London’s respected Point Blank Music School has cemented his status as one of the UK music scene’s key players.

Hilltown Disco welcome's the excellent Luxus Varta to the label for the effective and powerful 'Retrofiction' EP.

A record with layers of intelligence and emotional synth work-outs. The sounds range from a melancholic A-side, touching on wave with more disturbed vocals on the B-side, all crafted with a woven spine of electro with serious pulsing basslines. This is a welcome return to the label for Amazingblaze who released his Can't Stop EP in January this year and his Venture EP in 2022. Since then he has continued to innovate with his heavy-hitting trance, techno and hardstyle influenced sounds. His ever evolving studio skills see him mix up old school influences with new school sound design that is perfect for engaging dance floors. His signature imprint is all over these four new cuts with their mix of big synths, bigger drums and all consuming grooves.

Dave Hamilton’s New Day label is one of the most striking in existence, a powerful concoction of red, yellow and black, that matched its pitifully small run of singles. Two of these were by Billy Garner, a Detroit based vocalist who recorded three songs for Hamilton, all of which are funk classics.

Originally issued in 1971, ‘I Got Some’ is seriously down and dirty and was sampled by DJ Premier / Gang Starr. This reproduction of the original single, sees our first 7-inch issue of ‘Part 2’.
