Prolific duo Years of Denial return to Veyl with another genre bending, dance floor ready EP titled Love Cuts.
Acting as a transit between 2023’s Suicide Disco 2 and the forthcoming Suicide Disco 3, Love Cuts explores the various angles of love - ranging from the digital to the forbidden, toxic to erotic and beyond. A blend of death rock, future goth, EBM and rave, we once again find the project’s poetic, powerful lyrics fusing with motorized beats and 4x4 rhythms.
Kicking things off is the shadowy, death rock inspired, "Devil In a Skirt", an infectious ballad about a temptress that may not be what she seems. Next up, "Affaire de Coeur" delivers body fuelled stabs which elegantly bleeds into "Hide & Sick", a more high energy cut, set to scorch the floor. "We Are The Party" keeps the pulse pounding with your next EBM anthem while "In Your Bed" shatters sonic boundaries and leaves things drenched in acid rave. "AI Lover" closes things out with more future goth rave energy which acts as both a warning and a desire for more.
Love Cuts builds on Years of Denial’s previous work while setting the stage for what’s to come. Commanding vocals and dominating beats transmit a powerful message of both the dystopian and euphoric. Remaining uncategorizable, the project continues to evolve their unique sound while burning a path toward the future.

Efficient Space honours trailblazing Australian imprint Volition Records with Volition Cuts Vol. 1. Evolving from Andrew Penhallow’s time at GAP Records, which smuggled Cabaret Voltaire, The Fall and the Factory catalogue into the region, Volition shifted focus to homegrown talent over imported sounds. Echoing its precursor’s blend of indie friction and electronic curiosity, the label wired itself into the pulse of club and rave culture, linking city scenes and amplifying them for the mainstream. With retina-scorching design, uncompromising packaging and top-tier remixes, Volition consistently bent the major label machine to its will.

No Volition retrospective would be complete without Sisters Underground’s intergenerational anthem ‘In the Neighbourhood’. Otara teenagers Brenda Makamoeafi and Hassanah Iroegbu brought their Pasifika perspective to Proud (An Urban-Pacific Streetsoul Compilation), a commercial success that platformed NZ rap and R&B with a clarity that outshone its overseas counterparts. The quiet architect of Volition’s sound, producer prodigy Robert Racic flipped the classic as a hip-house dub before his untimely passing in 1996.

Its A-side companion comes from Brisbane synth-pop unit Boxcar, who signed to Volition after frontman Dave Smith handed a cassette to Tom Ellard of Severed Heads during a school newspaper interview. That unlikely handoff led to their 1990 debut Vertigo. Here, their ritual-laced, body-jacking industrial is retooled by Miami freestyle maverick Tony Garcia.

Further cherry-picking from the VOLT vaults, Sexing The Cherry unleash a bleep-addled meltdown from Brisbane’s Edwin Morrow and Cherryn Lomas. ‘This Is A Dream’ was recorded exclusively for High (A Dance Compilation), the first all-Australian V/A to top the ARIA charts, propelling the local movement into national consciousness.

Closing the sampler, Sydney’s Single Gun Theory joined Volition as they moved from post-punk abstraction and electronic collage toward downtempo, sample-based mysticism. Their 1994 ambient-pop reverie ‘Fall’ is reimagined by Stuart Crichton and Apollo 440’s Norman Fisher-Jones as full-throttle Goa trance, a final surge that channels the label’s relentless push into new terrain.

Volition Cuts Vol. 1 is dedicated to the loving memory of Volition’s visionary founder Andrew Penhallow, and key contributors Robert Racic and Edwin Morrow.1

Another timeless classic makes it on to the Dynamite cuts 45 series "I wouldn't Change a thing" made famouns by Coke Escovado as an up tempo rare groove dancer. Clone Classic Cuts continues their re-issues series for one of the most influential techno acts ever... Drexciya. The second selection of tracks including favorites such as ''Bang-Bang'', ''Positron Island'', ''Anti Vapour Waves'' and ''Journey Home'' complimented some lesser or unknown tracks. Raw, uncompromising music made with soul and creativity always has been the trademark of Drexciya (and also from their original label Underground Resistance) and this album is another showcase of their talents.

Rising French producer and live act Akyki is out on Quinoa for the label's 5th instalment. Delivering a quacking slice of summer, the 'Egyptian Geese' EP offers a groovy and multifaceted narrative that will get your backsides giggling like uncle Waldo's. Techy-er than previous references on the label, the release doesn't leave out some essential hallmarks of the Quinoa sound: playful vocals, quirky breaks, signature enveloping basslines, and a breadth of sound that finds its cohesion in a warm, comfy place.

Sometimes, we have the tendency to run away from distress because we do not want to deal with the feeling of pain, but the first step in spiritual healing is overcoming the fears and recognizing the pain. First made in 2003, here, the ethereal pads, melancholic melodies, and the broken beats evolve into a bass-driven house groove drenched in sucrose. The A2, Weather Morphing, a track initiated in 2004 takes you straight into and beyond the atmosphere of Planet ‘E’ on a trip through the glowing and strobing planet rings. This track captures the volatile weather of our fantasies, with syrupy yet psychedelic electro-breaks complemented by cosmic arpeggios and epic chords. On the ‘Sour’ side, Kick It Then Drop It, originally recorded in 1999 is both a hymn of Planet ‘E’ and a full-power kicker that will leave you in the right place to party. Hardcore, old-school breakbeat meets funky acid lines for a high rave energy combo that promises some screwface on any dancefloor. Empire State Beat (Phat Beat Mix) is the final destination of this EP. Made in 2004, chock-full of energy, this nostalgic composition takes off as a night-time, bassline driver that will keep the floor going at full power. The wax is hot. The tunes are massive. Oath’s sub-label, Last Year at Marienbad, dispenses a foursome of punchy house tracks for its fifth release, lovingly crafted by some of the genre’s finest producers.

‘The Way We Flow’ by Sam Paradise pairs detuned, lo-fi samples with thumping kicks, and muffled drums. Just when those innocent lo-fi elements simmer, the drums slam back into your periphery harder than ever, making for an absolute dancefloor smasher.

‘De Nuit (3 A.M)’ by Nu-Cleo descends deeper. Swinging drums and chocolatey, indulgent keys lay the basis for a hypnotic acid bassline. Real tension builder.

Flipping over to the B-Side – careful, it’s hot – is ‘She Wrote’ by Gloved Hands. Seemingly just a ride through a well-made bouncing synth and house groove combo at first, this track soon shows off Gloved Hands’ knack for leftfield flavours. There’s an unexpected trap-esque vocal that gets re-contextualised for the club alongside piercing synths and a bulging broken beat.

‘Hard Deep’ by Rick Wade is an obvious one. The stalwart of the house scene serves up another of his zesty, masterful grooves. Shimmering, effortless keys steer a tight drum groove while a subtle bassline nestles between the kick’s low end.

Here we are - the new release from the italian project Club Soda is finally here!

The trio, made up of Nicola on bass, Simone on drums and samplers, and Filippo on keys, is bringing some real, raw, authentic sounds to the table. Their first LP, "Vibin' Places" dropped in 2020 and it's a versatile homemade electronic album that hits different, whether you're a listener, DJ, or clubber.

This new EP is fire too. A1 track "Basso e Batteria" with Sara Loreni on lyrics and vocals, has clear echoes of a '00s vocal-house joints, but sounds like it was recorded in a Chicago basement. The dirty grooves, thumping bass, and enveloping pads create a free-form vibe that's perfect for you summer madness.

But then they go and take it to the next level with the remixes on B side. Cristalli Liquidi's remix is on some current dance floor-ish, with bouncing rhythms, a wild bassline, and a catchy vocal cut. And Hill's dub mix is straight up trippy - like you're lost in a warehouse at 6am, with dreamy pads, a solid bassline, and rhythms that are distant but still pull you in.

And let's not forget "Gin Tonic" (A2) - it's a dope sunset jam session that's pure “Club Soda style”, with congas, DX7 keys, funky bass, and an MPC chop. This EP is the real deal, from start to finish! Shout out to Giulia Dall’ Ara for the sick artwork on the cover and label too - she killed it!

“Knowbody’s Gonna Love You” is a masterpiece vocal demo written by George Semper almost 50 years ago. Lost and almost forgotten, lying dormant on a master tape recorded late 60s. Such a wonderful and fresh song, perfect swing and groove.
Finding this demo completed the puzzle with an unknown one-off press acetate record. That was within Georges collection, now we know he had wrote it. The acetate was titled “Knowbody’s Gonna Love You” Joanne. With a little more investigation Joanne became the lesser known soul singer Joanne Vent. She recorded one LP on the label A&M back in the late 60s, which just happened to be the same time George worked for the label… One off press limited edition x400 copies with heavy card sleeve

Dynamite cuts 45s series is proud to release two gems from the Perception label both First time on 7” vinyl. Taken from the hard to find John Bartel LP which was released 1971, these two bangers, needed to be part of the DC series, classic and unknown drum samples.

Wow, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support with Dynamite Cuts since 2017 when I opened a Pandora’s box of 7” gems. When I thought about starting DC, I had a list of around 100 album tracks I wished I had as a 7” 45. Now 5 years (2022) later my list of 7” delights have become true. In the late 80s, I picked up the Frank Strazzeri “After the Rain” LP, which totally blew me away. Now, all these years later, these three magical choons have the honour of being my 100th release.

These titles are first time on 7” vinyl and all cut @ 45 rpm. An unmissable, perfect Jazz funk release
