Die multidimensionalen Künstler:innen und Produzent:innen yeule kündigen ihr neues Album, „softscars“, an, das am 22. September 2023 über Ninja Tune erscheinen wird. „softscars“ repräsentiert eine neue Richtung für yeule, da sie weichere Texturen und körperlose Arrangements erforschen, die ihre ätherischen Vocals in den Vordergrund stellen. Das Projekt untersucht die Anatomie ihrer lang gehegten emotionalen Wunden für ihr bisher verletzlichstes Werk. Obwohl die Thematik schwer und geheimnisvoll ist, strahlt das Projekt, das von yeule und ihren Kolleg:innen Kin Leonn geschrieben und produziert wurde, mit zusätzlicher Produktion von Mura Masa und Chris Greatti (Yves Tumor, Willow Smith) ein Gefühl der freudigen Katharsis aus. Angetrieben wird das Album von yeules sich verändernden Vocals, die mit all ihren Ecken und Kanten und ihrem eindringlichen Flüstern sicherer denn je klingen und den unvollkommenen Prozess der Heilung widerspiegeln.
Das neue Album folgt auf das von der Kritik gefeiertes Album, „Glitch Princess“, aus dem Jahr 2022, das von Pitchfork mit dem Prädikat „Best New Music“ ausgezeichnet wurde und auch hierzulande sehr wohlwollend abgefeiert wurde, u.a. mit 5 von 6 Sternen im Musikexpress, mit 4 von 5 Punkten bei laut.de und 8 von 10 Punkten bei Plattentests. yeule machen sowohl Musik als auch visuelle Kunst, das Projekt wurde ins Leben gerufen, um als Portal oder Spalt zu fungieren, der es ihnen ermöglicht, ihre Kunst der Außenwelt mitzuteilen, während sie gleichzeitig in ihrer inneren Hülle geschützt sind. yeule wurde als Manifest ihrer eigenen Identitäten konstruiert, in denen sie immer Zugang zu multiplen Avataren und der Freiheit hatten, sich nach Belieben zu verändern oder zu verformen - Trost durch die Verkörperung von wandelbaren, chamäleonartigen Vielfältigkeiten.

Last year's release of "The Midlands Roots Explosion Volume One", saw the culmination of many years work spent tracking down artists and tapes to shine a light on one of England's greatest, yet most overlooked musical scenes, the home grown take on reggae that briefly flourished from the mid-seventies and had almost disappeared little more than a decade later.

Volume Two starts off in exactly the same way as its predecessor with Handsworth's biggest musical exports, the legendary Steel Pulse and "Bun Dem produced by the legendary Dennis Bovell. Our first act new to the series are Natural Mystique with their 1982 single "Generals" whilst tracks 3, 4 and 5 round off the missing A and B sides from some of the most popular artists we included last time with Iganda's "Mark Of Slavery", Carnastoan's "Sweet Melody" and yet another Generals, this one from Musical Youth featuring the same line up that caused so much surprise and positive feedback with their inclusion on Volume One.

"Africans" from Bass Dance featuring a second appearance from former Steel Pulse guitarist/vocalist Basil Gabbidon, is the first of four previously unreleased tracks. The other three that we've managed to track down on long forgotten tapes, are Leicester's Groundation with "Rebel" recorded a few years before "Fa Ward" which we included last time, "Cannot Take It Away", another lost gem from Handsworth's Mystic Foundation and "Equalisation" another lost slice of early eighties roots from Wolverhampton's Capital Letters.
The late Linton Haughton is another new name with his scarce Shield label 12" cut "Hustling Man". Also making their first appearances, are Afrikan Star with "Run And Hide" originally issued in 1980 on Black Vinyl Records and from the Crucial Music stable, Sledge Hammer with "Ruled By The Stone" released as a 7" single on the Crucial Music Inc. label. The remaining three tracks are provided by label favourites and key players in the Birmingham scene, Black Symbol, Sceptre and Eclipse and showcase songs from the individual albums we've previously released by each band.

The first release from Microtonal Records, Residents of Aotearoa: Microtonal Showcase (ROAMS) EP, presents producers currently living in New Zealand and their interpretation of a warm, atmospheric and dark sound with a groove that provokes movement and thought.

Track A1: Astral Aura by Seb Selknam
A pure analog production from Seb Selknam - Astral Aura provides an instant groove from a warm bassline that sits in pure harmony with the kick to give structure to the melodic and atmospheric landscape you are led into. Minimal crisp percussion and echoing vocals add a familiar and human element to the journey as you slowly float through vista's unknown and aura's unseen. This is 08:22 of pure bliss.

Track A2: Bosun by HRZNTL
The last beat drops, the party ends, the taxi awaits. Bosun by HRZNTL is a reflective piece, the transition from pure adrenaline and the buzz of the rave into a lasting memory of a night spent with family and friends dancing at a castle in the hills of Barcelona. The track itself is built around a detuned dubby key which represents the emotions of ending an epic night, it is surrounded by dark and haunting stabs to add to the atmosphere and a bubbling synth which brings an optimistic reality that it's only day one at Sonar.

Track B1: Admiral Frick by Harvo x Patella
The first ever demo sent to Microtonal HQ, Admiral Frick by Harvo and Patella is pure energy. Taking elements of tribal percussion and combining it with acidic stabs, it is balanced perfectly with a wandering atmospheric pad. There are subtle shifts between four four and breakbeat, as it builds with syncopated snares and a beautiful unrecognisable monotonous vocal calling you deeper into mysteries of the jungle at night. Calmness descends to create space for a powerful sweeping drone like bass that drops you back into a hypnotic state of being. Your relationship with this track will be like an addiction, constantly seeking a hit.

Track B2: Introspection by Felipe Martinez
The epitome of a Microtonal Records track; warm, atmospheric, dark and with a groove. Introspection by Felipe Martinez is a microbreaks track that draws you in with a wide pulsating low end and irregular percussive stabs that float from left to right at the high end. A soft acid synth builds and explodes like a solar flare creating an outer planetary experience. The beautifully crafted breakdown gives you time to pause, observe and contemplate, creating space to process your mental state and explore your emotions from the past, present and future. Introspection; 10 minutes of self healing.

Eins ist schon lange klar: U.D.O. machen keine halben Sachen und haben auch nach über 35 Jahren Bandgeschichte kein Stück Kraft verloren! Durch hunderte von Shows weltweit - bis hin in die entlegendsten Gebiete Russlands oder Südamerikas - und einer Diskografie von über 20 Alben, hat die Band jedes Mal bewiesen, dass sie nicht nur in den nationalen, sondern internationalen Metalolymp gehören. Alben wie „Steelfactory“, „Man And Machine“ oder „Animal House“ sind zeitlose Alben - präzise, druckvoll, eingängig und kraftgeladen. ‘Hey don’t touch that dial, good news Punk Rock Is Back!’ Mal-One

Mal-One’s new album starts with running through the radio dial, looking for some suitable music to listen to. These snippets are actually samples of songs from his previous album ‘It’s All Punk Rock’. Leading the listener nicely into a new set of songs to get their Punk Rock teeth into.

Songs that cover… the great New York punk scene of the 1970’s that grew out of a little bar in the Bowery District of New York City called CBGB’s ‘New York City Punk’. The Clash’s first album discussed in ‘When The Two 77’s Clashed’. The excitement of London’s Roxy Club revisited with its one line chant ‘Down The Roxy’. Those great ‘Punk Rock Fanzines‘, that kept us all so well informed. An early Sex Pistols gig at the Chelsea School of Art, ‘Machine Bubble Disco’. So named after what was to be the main event of that nights entertainment!!!.’45 Random Punk Memories’ sprang from Mal-One’s own reminisces. Talking of memories ‘Looking At The Decals On Steve Jones Guitar’, the recollection of Steve Jones, future guitarist of the Sex Pistols, stealing Mal-One’s bike when he was the tender age of seven years old. An incident that might have triggered this whole road of discovery in the first place.

A reflection on London’s harsh setting in those heady Punk times in ‘Corrugated London’ alongside a call and response to remember that ‘London’s Turning’ all the time for better or worse and that we can’t always pick and choose the bits we want to keep. The self-explanatory, ‘We Will All Lose Some Good Friends Along The Way’. ‘Shakespeare Meets Chuck Berry On Shepherds Bush Green’, a great story when Joe Strummer was asked by a reporter what he was up to and what he might call The Clash’s next album, which would turn out to be the timeless ‘London Calling’. Joe’s rather
tongue in cheek answer was “Shakespeare Meets Chuck Berry On Shepherds Bush Green’’.
A place close to Mal-One’s heart and a great title, that was crying out to be reused. Which Mal-One does via what he calls his Punk Art Poetry. Sometimes these lines are turned into lyrics and reworked into songs.

The album ends with such a call, ‘An Open Letter To…’ all those people who helped influence us all along the way. As the lyric states often without thought of financial gain, but done so, quiet simply because it had to be done.Maybe some young guns might in some small way, be inspired and find in Mal-One’s current efforts that ‘anything is possible’ and the true meaning of Punk was in fact, ‘Do It Yourself’.

The vinyl version of this release includes a poster that is part of Mal-Ones continuing Street Art project that involves putting up posters around London. This time declaring the news ‘Punk Rock Is Back!’. Included in the album packaging also is a signed and blind stamped limited print of one of Mal-One’s works ‘What Is It About Punk That’s So Different So Appealing’. A punk collage that just carries one word in among its multiple punk images and that word is PUNK. We hope you enjoy the indulgence.

“Jack With A Feather” was the first vinyl album (after the private cassette only release of “Rowdy Dowdy Day”) by SPRIGUNS OF TOLGUS, just before they shortened their name to SPRIGUNS and signed to Decca, recording two classic progressive folk-rock albums.



Recorded in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, the album offers mostly traditional songs with charming homemade atmosphere, psychedelic touches, male / female vocals (by MANDY MORTON), acoustic/electric guitars, mandolin, dulcimer, fiddle… One of the tracks, “Seamus The Showman”, originally written by Tim Hart of Steeleye Span (future Spriguns producer), landed the band a deal with Decca Records.

Formed in the early 70s, Spriguns of Tolgus evolved from the folk duo of Mandy & Mike Morton and the scene centered around their Anchor Folk Club in Cambridge. In 1974, the band (Mike and Mandy plus Rick Thomas and Chris Russon) decided to produce a recording to raise funds for new equipment. Using a small tape recorder and mixing desk, “Rowdy Dowdy Day” was recorded live in the dining room at the band’s rented house. A small number of cassettes were produced and subsequently sold at the Anchor Folk Club.

With the original cassette impossible to find now, we’re glad to present a new vinyl edition.

“We grew up in the ’60s to the sound of The Beatles; we embraced flower power and all it brought with it; and we indulged ourselves in every type of music on offer. From America came The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, and here in the UK we celebrated our own heroes, Pentangle, Fairport Convention, The Incredible String Band and later Steeleye Span” – Mandy Morton

"Dahab Days" is the highly anticipated third album from acclaimed British guitarist Rob
Luft, who has witnessed remarkable growth in Europe in recent years, notably as a BBC
New Generation Artist and through collaborations with Elina Duni. Luft's debut album,
"Riser," released in 2017, made a lasting impact, showcasing his exceptional talent and
distinctive musical voice. Building on the success of "Riser," his second album, "Life is the
Dancer," further solidified his reputation as a versatile guitarist and composer.
With "Dahab Days," Luft embarks on another significant stride in his artistic journey. This
album represents a notable expansion of his sound, incorporating a string quartet and
reinforcing the contributions of his talented band members, who have become an integral
part of his musical identity. Luft's well-deserved reputation as a versatile guitarist shines
through as he delivers uplifting improvisations that evolve in hypnotic and contemporary
ways, captivating listeners with their compelling and immersive qualities.
The album derives its name from Dahab, a location in Egypt where much of the music was
written. Over the past three years, Luft has spent considerable time there due to the
Covid-19 pandemic's limitations. While not overtly drawing from the music of the region,
"Dahab Days" subtly reflects the influence of his experiences in that unique setting.

TaxiCab Verses, Is What You Make It, is a project that was created by Athens musician, Jim Wilson. It’s an international collaborative project between TaxiCab Verses (a name inspired by the phrases
covering the backs of taxis Jim observed during his travels in Ghana) and Ghana’s Kofi Atentenben and the Warriors. The 10-track album is named Is What You Make It, and according to Flagpole Magazine it's "aggressive and propulsive, even on tracks lesser musicians would let devolve into simple swing patterns (like the darkly jazz-tinged “Step By Step”)...my only regret is that I didn’t write about it the moment it came out. It’s righteously excellent." Overall, 22 musicians contributed to this between Athens and West Africa. TaxiCab Verses was originally released on CD only in 2012 and became a sort of hidden gem of Athens. The album was mastered by Greg Calbi (Bob Dylan, Drive-By Truckers, Paul Simon, The National) and was produced by Drew Vandenberg (Faye Webster, S.G. Goodman).

Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers also had a big role in the creation of this album. He says that he is "so filled with love and pride for what Jim, Drew and all of those amazing musicians from two continents have created. Kudos to George Fontaine and the Strolling Bones Records folks for spotlighting this amazing chapter of Athens music history (and beyond) and finally making this record available for the whole world to hear."

German jazz singer with Belgian roots Sophie Tassignon has built up a solid reputation in Germany. She has a whole series of well-received records to her credit, which not only showcase her musical versatility but also demonstrate what an incredible vocalist and composer she is. Sophie is a musical chameleon, constantly seeking to challenge and renew herself.


When the refugee crisis erupted and millions of Syrian refugees flocked to continental Europe in search of a better life and safety, it resulted in a lot of fear and opposition from the European population. The perception on refugees is often very negative and creates divisions on the political field.


When a shelter was started up two blocks from Sophie's home in Berlin, she decided to help and take care of some refugees. To get a better understanding on the culture and stories of those people and to bridge with our culture, she decided to study Arabic. Meanwhile, we are more than five years on, and not only is she proficient in Arabic, but she has also gained a better understanding of the culture and customs of the Arab community. Friendships for life were formed.
She decided to incorporate Arabic into her own musical language - jazz - fusing two worlds. From this was born the project and the eponymous record "Khyal. The word refers to the imagination and is literally translated as "remembering and/or longing for something from the (distant) past." With this project, Sophie especially wants to encourage tolerance and acceptance towards people regardless of their cultural background or religion and show how intercultural interaction can lead to very beautiful and artistic results.artwork &

Freeze Corleone, founding member of the famous 667 crew comes back with a second album called ADC (L'Attaque des Clones).

This album is on top of the charts in France since its digital release on mid September with 6.7 Millions streams in the first 22 hours and the first 13 places on the french Spotify charts making him one of the biggest names in contemporary French rap.

The central theme of Steady is perseverance. Each track is based on a personal story or a fleeting encounter with people these past few years, from close friends to total strangers, either at home or on night shift commutes. People navigating their own hardships, almost giving up but always struggling through. More broadly, it’s about multiplicity, and contradiction. These central figures displaying hope and determination within a city of development and neglect, uniformity and chaos - an unfiltered representation of a city with all its jagged edges, darkness, and shards of light. It's broken and disheveled, but never not beautiful, just like the people in it. Musically, Steady continues where Bleach (debut album) left off - a sonic language of glitch, decaying tape and analogue distortion through which hints of RnB and soulful ballads bleed through. With a greater emphasis on beats, albeit lopsided on pitch-shifted tape loops, Steady feels more self-assured, more confident, more recognisable. At the same time, it's never stable or predictable - choruses break down early, harmonies bend into beating microtones, tracks emerge before others have finished. The symphonic scope of Bleach is still retained in Steady though. This is music of motivic development, of micro and macro form, of meticulous refining. The work of two classically trained composers, the album's chaos is heavily considered and carefully shaped. Hours of improvisation sessions have since been painstakingly refined into ten distilled tracks, owing to Steady's three year gestation.

Louis Cole ist ein Singer-Songwriter und unverschämt talentierter Multiinstrumentalist mit einem ausgeprägten DIY-Ethos aus Los Angeles, Kalifornien. Er ist auf der Mission, tiefe Gefühle durch Musik zu erzeugen und ist das Aushängeschild einer allgemein dem Jazz nahestehenden Szene in L.A., zu der Genevieve Artadi (mit der Cole 2009 die Alt-Pop/ Elektrofunk-Band KNOWER gründete), Sam Gendel, Sam Wilkes, Jacob Mann, Thundercat-Keyboarder Dennis Hamm, Pedro Martins und viele mehr gehören. Sein neues Album, „Quality Over Opinion“, erscheint Mitte Oktober 2022 auf Brainfeeder Records.
Die 20 Tracks des Albums wurden von ihm selbst in seinem bescheidenen Heimstudio geschrieben, eingespielt und produziert, aber Louis lud eine Handvoll enger Freund*innen ein, ihren Beitrag zu leisten, u.a. Genevieve Artadi, den Saxophonisten Sam Gendel, den Pianisten Chris Fishman, Nate Wood von der Band Kneebody, Marlon Mackey und den Gitarristen Kurt Rosenwinkel. Louis' Hauptinstrument ist das Schlagzeug, und er hat einen Hintergrund im Jazz, obwohl die Musik, die er schreibt, wenig Ähnlichkeit mit Jazz im reinen oder klassischen Sinne hat. Dementsprechend gehören zu Coles Maßstäben für „Quality Over Opinion“ neben Jazz-Ikonen wie Miles Davis, der schwedischen Experimental-Metal-Band mit einem ausgeprägten Hang zu Jazz, Meshuggah, Morten Lauridsen und Super Mario Kart auch grenzüberschreitende Komponisten wie Gustav Mahler und György Ligeti. Coles verrückte Musikalität ist kein Geheimnis - seit einem Jahrzehnt lädt er Performance-Videos auf Youtube hoch und hat sich so eine treue Fangemeinde aufgebaut, die sowohl sein Handwerk als auch seinen ausgefallenen Stil zu schätzen weiß. Schlagzeug, Bass, Tasten... er hat eine sehr strenge Einstellung zum Üben und zur Perfektionierung seiner Kunst. Thundercat beschreibt ihn als „einen der größten Musiker von Los Angeles“ und lud ihn Anfang des Jahres ein, auf seiner jüngsten Japan-Tour Schlagzeug zu spielen. Die beiden haben häufig zusammen geschrieben, unter anderem auf Thundercats Liebeserklärung an Cole, „I Love Louis Cole“, aus seinem Grammy-gekröntem Album, „It Is What It Is“, auf „Bus In The Streets“ und „Jameel's Space Ride“ (aus Thundercats 2017er Werk, „Drunk“) und „Tunnels In The Air“ für Louis' 2018er Album, „Time“. Auch Flying Lotus hat seine Bewunderung für Louis zum Ausdruck gebracht und ihn während der Arbeit an seinem 2019er Album, „Flamagra“ als „super inspirierend“ bezeichnet. "Last Days On Earth" is the band's latest & first proper full-length for Trouble In Mind. The oddball, synth-soaked world of Onyon is disorienting at first - the band's herky-jerky rhythms may operate in a familiar fashion to bands like Devo, Kleenex/Liliput or label-mates LITHICS, but Maria Untheim's woozy synth squiggles that populate & punctuate the band's songs keeps everything at arms-length. Flirting with the primitive cool of 80's minimal-synth and the wire-haired cretinism of 60s garage, especially on tunes like the manic `Dogman' or first single `Alien, Alien'. Guitarist Ilka Kellner's six-string salvos rage unpretentiously with edges torn & frayed, rarely (if ever) soloing, but never afraid to unleash a spindly lead-line over Florian Schmidt's rubbery bass lines & Mario Pongratz's stuttering drum patterns that phase in & out of time imperceptibly like drunks doing their best to seem sober. In the spring of 2011, MGMT was approached by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York to create a wholly unique live music experience in conjunction with the Maurizio Cattelan retrospective All, which opened that autumn. The group performed the original music at the Nov. 10, 2011 private opening, and again the following night for the public debut. Trumpeter, composer and bandleader Nick Walters returns to his D.O.T. Records imprint with his majestic new album, Marine Moods. Walter Wegmüller (1937 - 2020) war ein schweizerisch-jenischer Künstler und wuchs unter schwierigen Verhältnissen in Bern auf. Nach Ausbildungen in Basel, Bern, Paris und London begann er seine künstlerische Karriere. Neben der Malerei und plastischen Arbeiten beschäftigte sich Walter Wegmüller mit dem ganzen Spektrum der Kunst. Er erlangte vor allem ab 1974 mit der Publikation seines "Zigeuner-Tarot" international breite Beachtung. Er war auf zahllosen Ausstellungen in Europa und Übersee erfolgreich und wurde immer wieder mit Preisen und Auszeichnungen bedacht. Er vergaß dabei aber niemals seine Herkunft als Verdingkind und "Rom-Kind aus dem Stamm der Kalderasch". Im Jahr 1973 veröffentlichte er mit einer all-star-Band das Album Tarot. In der Band spielen erfolgreiche Musiker wie Klaus Schulze, Manuel Göttsching, Harald Grosskopf, Dieter Dierks, Hartmut Enke, Jürgen Dollase, Walter Westrupp Es blieb der einzige Ausflug von Walter Wegmüller in die Welt der Musik. Das Album wurde als Vinyl zuletzt im Jahre 1976 veröffentlicht. Als CD im Jahr 2000. Es liegt jetzt erstmalig remastert vor. Bei Sammlern besonders begehrt ist eine deLuxe Box, die neben 2 Vinylscheiben diverse Karten der Künstler sowie erklärende Texte zu dem TAROT Bezug darstellt und Reprints der Tarot Karten von Walter Wegmüller enthält. Diese Box wovon nur 1.000 Exemplare hergestellt wurden erzielt heute Preise von bis zu 800 Euro und mehr. Und selbst die CD-Ausgabe von 2000 ist unter 80 Euro nur schwer zu bekommen. Die originalen, analogen Masterbänder wurden mit höherer Auflösung überspielt und mit großer Sorgfalt remastert.
