One of the UK’s most exciting breakout stars of the past decade, Rebecca Lucy Taylor AKA Self Esteem emerged from cult favourite status to mainstream hero following the huge success of her empowering, truth-telling 2021 single ‘I Do This All The Time’. Gathering a passionate and vast legion of fans ever since, Taylor has appeared on The Graham Norton Show, Celebrity Gogglebox, Friday Night Live & Taskmaster, performed three times on Jools Holland including the NYE Hootenanny, graced the covers of magazines from Grazia to NME to Sunday Times Style, and is one of a handful of artists to have been playlisted across BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music simultaneously.

Having reached new heights of acclaim, Taylor continued to grow, diversify, and create in 2024. Branching out into the world of acting, Taylor starred in a regular role in the Sky series SMOTHERED before completing a run playing Sally Bowles in the multiple Olivier Award-winning production of 'Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club' in London's West End. Norman Westberg (ex-Swans) and Jacek Mazurkiewicz have already released one album together "First Man In The Moon" in 2021 (published by the Swiss label Hallow Ground).In the new project, they are accompanied by Giridhar Udupa, an Indian master of ghatam (a clay percussion instrument that looks like a jug). The album will feature 3 long trance compositions, referring to ambient, krautrock, free jazz and Indian music.Jacek Mazurkiewicz describes the creation of this album as follows:"I met Norman Westberg while supporting the Swans tour in Poland as 3FoNIA. A few years later, during Norman's tour with Gira, we recorded a duet.The trio session took place similarly to the previous duet session during Norman's solo concert in Warsaw on the Swans tour.Recorded with Adam Toczko, a quick meeting on a day off from work.I invited Giridhar Udupa to the trio, whom I had met earlier during the period when I co-founded the band Limboski. I once invited Wacek Zimpel to play a few concerts with Giridhar. Wacek later created Saagara and I was wondering about some unusual musical context in which I would find myself with Giridhar. I was looking for an interesting sound configuration, but also a cultural one, with a different approach to creating music. I got the impression that for both Norman and Giridhar it was a fairly fresh meeting, not obvious. And on the other hand, ordinary - everyone did their own thing."Detroit guitarist Norman Westberg moved to New York in 1980 and became a part of the experimental music scene that was experiencing its golden age. Westberg has also been involved with other legendary New York noise-rock acts, including Jim Thirlwell's Foetus and the post-Swans Heroine Sheiks, in which he played with Cows frontman Shannon Selberg; and in 2014, he joined the noise-rock supergroup Hidden Rifles, whose members included Mike Watt of Minutemen and Mark Shippy of U.S. Maple. Westberg's solo compositions, most often for solo guitar and a set of effects, draw on drone and post-minimalism, bringing to mind dark ambient passages from Swans albums.Giridhar Udupa is an extremely valued teacher and world-renowned artist, an Indian master of ghatam (a clay percussion instrument that looks like a jug). He was born into a family with long musical traditions. He began learning to play at the age of four, guided by his father. At the age of twelve, he already had his first performances behind him. He currently gives concerts alongside the greatest masters. He has received many prestigious awards. He performs in the USA, Spain, Canada, France, Switzerland, Germany, Oman and Kuwait. Giridhar Udupa is a member of the band of the Indian vocalist Bombay Jayashri, nominated for an Oscar for the best song for the film Life of Pi. He is one of the founders of the Layatharanga band. He also plays virtuoso other traditional instruments of South India, such as mridangam and kanjira, and is excellent at using the konnakol technique (a type of rhythmic vocalization).For three decades, the artist has been a global ambassador and icon of Carnatic music. He is the founder of The Udupa Foundation, a charity organization established in 2015 to promote Indian music, performing arts and culture. He has participated in recording dozens of albums. He is also well-known in our country thanks to his cooperation with Polish performers, which resulted in excellent artistic effects, such as the famous Indialucia - Michał Czachowski's group / project or the Saagara formation, led by Wacław Zimpel. Udupa also played on the album Lechoechoplexita, released by Leszek Hefi Wiśniewski, and on the album of the band Layatharanga, released in our country.Jacek Mazurkiewicz is interested in music in the broad sense. He puts his sounds together based on emotional impressions and pulse. Combining acoustics with electronics, he is constantly looking for a new sound. Solo as 3FoNIA, in a duet with Mikołaj Trzaska or Tomek Dąbrowski, the JMB trio with Wojtek Jachna and Jacek Buhl, in the Modular String Trio quartet, the Afrobeat quintet Faso Tamala are just some of his musical incarnations. With Patryk Zakrocki, as part of an audio mission, he massaged hundreds of pairs of ears in the Inner Ear Massage Office. He also deals with sound design, composing and producing music for films and theatre performances. He collaborated with many Polish and foreign artists.

Daniel Herskedal's exceptional achievements further underscore his artistic prowess and versatility. His notable arrangement of"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" for the 2019 film "The Last Black Man in San Francisco," produced by Brad Pitt, was later featured in Coca Cola's global 'Open Like Never Before' advertising campaign. His extensive collaborations include performances with prestigious ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Norwegian Navy Band, and the Russian Patriarchate Choir of Moscow. His collaborative project with Marja Mortensson won the Norwegian Grammy in 2019, and in 2021,he secured The Ambies Award for Best Original Score and Music Supervision for the podcast "9/12." Additionally, his work with artists like Keaton Henson and Emilie Nicolas on their album "Out of the Fog" further highlights his versatility and collaborative spirit.

"No sign of Rotten Leaves" is Selma French's second album and draws inspiration from life's paradoxes.

Selma French is a songwriter and musician renowned and revered within the Norwegian folk scene. She grew up with traditional music and has played and created music all her life. Her musical inspirations include Linda Perhacs, Nick Drake, Judee Sill, Frøkedal, Sundfør and Sandy Denny.

Her debut album Changes Like the Weather in the Mountain was released in 2022 to critical acclaim and was ranked among the top Norwegian albums of 2022 by notable Norwegian newspapers such as Dagsavisen and Aftenposten. In the fall of 2024, she did a lot of touring in the UK together with Euros Childs (Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci / Teenage Fanclub).

Selma has also toured extensively throughout Scandinavia and is a member of the bands such as Masåva, Frøkedal & Familien - (with whom she toured in the UK as special guests of Teenage Fanclub), Sondre Lerche and Norwegian Grammy award winners Morgonrode. Her music is widely recognized in her native country and has recently featured as the theme song in the hit Viaplay T.V series Furia.

Her music reflects an admiration for Norwegian and English folk music and is infused with an airy, enigmatic energy. Her rich landscape of guitars, wurlitzer, fiddles and high pitched choir voices manages to convey a roar of frustration, obscure portraits of the present and a gathering force of hope.

Where's Joao Donato? It's a frequently asked question, referring simultaneously to the physical location and the musical moment he inhabits. A sampling of some of his more descriptive song titles suggests Donato's comfort with musical hybrids: "Bluchanga," "Sambolero," and "Sambongo," to name just a few. Lacking a formal genre for his style of music, Donato's is a distinct sound, immediately recognizable from the first few bars of any of his compositions. He was funky back when "funk" was a bad word (listen to either of his 1960s Brazilian LPs, Sambou, Sambou and The New Sound if Brasil, for proof). His compositions are deceptively simple, while his arrangements are harmonically complex, revealing their intricate details upon repeat listening. Today, Donato brings this flavor, now near synonymous with his name, to a new album in the Jazz Is Dead series with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad: Joao Donato JID007. "Donato is one of the greatest Brazilian composers from that golden era. His signature style, simple melodies combined with colorful chordal progressions, establishes a new lane for Jazz Is Dead," explains Younge. "Joao is one of the most innovative Brazilian jazz composers of the last century. Creating with and learning from this maestro was one of the greatest experiences of my career."

Jungle master Krak In Dub’s new album Catleya is a vibrant hommage to Colombia and its incredibly diverse musical culture. Entirely recorded in Bogotá with the who’s who of today’s Colombian music scene, the album casts a brand new light on the fusion of beats and Latin-American traditional rhythms and instruments, blending reggae, hip-hop, breaks and house with cumbia , afrobeat, ska, and bullerengue.
Standing out on this sun-soaked yet heavy-on-the-beats-and-bass adventure is the appearance of female modern folk trio La Perla, the Afro-Colombian combo Absalon & Afropacifico, and Bermudian singer Troy Berkley.

Deutschland, deine Städte. Der Schauplatz aller Songs und Erzählungen des Berliner Duos Die Anteile ist klar umrissen: Sie interessieren sich für die dunklen Ränder, für Ecken, in denen lange niemand mehr gekehrt hat. Holzvertäfelte Eckkneipen, asphaltierte Garagenhöfe, aber auch mitten in die Scheinwerfer blicken sie, die ihr Licht werfen auf alles, was einmal subversiv und anders war. "Pelzwerk", das nun bei Tapete Records erscheinende Debütalbum der Anteile, wurde geschrieben in einem feuchten Berliner Kellerraum. Einige Meter unter der Erde erblickte eine Vielzahl an Figuren das Licht, die auch einem düsteren Varietétheater entstammen könnten: Nazi-Erben, die dem Sheriff hinterher reiten, Sammler, die Vergangenheiten in Vitrinen ausstellen und Zirkusdirektoren im Gewand von Bürgermeistern sind im "Pelzwerk" beschäftigt. Dabei sind Die Anteile keine Kinder von Traurigkeit: Das Debütalbum ist umspült von quirligen Synthielines, überschwänglichen Gitarrenriffs und liebevoll garniert mit allerlei Sounds aus dem Krautrock-Zauberkasten. "Ich beherrsche wenig / aber du würdest mir auch schon reichen", singen sie auf dem Titeltrack. Bass und Drum Machine zielen auf die Beine, die Stimme - mal als Sprechgesang, mal oddly elegant - auf den Kopf. Hinterher ist man immer schlauer - "Und ich wurde aufgeklärt / vernünftig ist was sich rentiert" - oder zumindest nass geschwitzt. "Pelzwerk" vereint viele Genres in sich. Ist es EBM, ist es IDM oder - Gott bewahre! - NNDW? Ein begeisterter Konzertbesucher beschrieb Die Anteile einmal als "freundliche DAF". Doch eigentlich sind Die Anteile auch dafür zu verspielt. Statt mit Diktatoren tanzen sie eher im 4-eck, packen den Vocoder aus und halten die tanzende Menge mit knarzigen Basslines in Schach. Die Anteile sind im Nebenberuf Gärtner:innen. Ungeachtet der heimischen Witterungsbedingungen pflanzen sie munter verschiedenste musikalische Gewächse an. Prominent im Rundbeet wurzeln die japanischen Elektropioniere von Yellow Magic Orchestra in der selben Erde wie Proto-Industrialisten der Marke Crash Course in Science und Pyrolator. Am Gartenzaun treiben Post Punk-Bands wie Talking Heads und Magazine Blüten, während im Nachbarbeet gerade neu mit Electroclash gedüngt wird. Reichlich Grünzeug also, sodass jeden Tag ein frischer Wildblumensalat den Weg aufs Die-Anteile-Buffet findet.

Mit seiner Band Santiano hat Hans-Timm „Timsen“ Hinrichsen nicht weniger als acht #1-Alben in den deutschen Charts platziert. Am 25. April erscheint das Solo-Album: „Vun Hier“
Und doch ist der Sänger ein unglaublich bodenständiger Typ. Die Gründe dafür sind vielfältig – und haben doch alle einen Ursprung: seine Herkunft. Timsen wuchs als Bauernsohn in einem kleinen Dorf auf der schleswig-holsteinischen Geest auf. Noch heute lebt er in einem Dorf in der Nähe von Schleswig.

Seine Heimatverbundenheit ist nicht nur geographisch:
Plattdeutsch ist Timsens Sprache des Herzens und ein wesentlicher Teil seiner Identität. Wenn er zählt, heißt es nicht „Zwei und Zwei ist Vier“ sondern „Twee un Twee sünd Veer“. Mit seinem Soloalbum „Vun hier“ geht Timsen neue Wege und doch zurück zu den Ursprüngen. Ein Album voller Heimatklänge, aber auch voller Offenheit. Timsen zeigt sich hier als eigenständiger Künstler, der Tradition mit neuen Einflüssen verbindet – echt, direkt und ganz vun hier.

Einst waren Rialto unverletzlich ("Untouchable"), sind aber bereits Ende der 90er erst morgens nach fünf heimgekommen ("Monday Morning 5.19"), nun kündigen die britischen Kult-Britpopper ihr erstes neues Album seit 24 Jahren an: "Neon & Ghost Signs" wird im April 2025 über Fierce Panda Records veröffentlicht. Es ist eine Reunion, die nicht so sehr von der Sehnsucht nach der Vergangenheit angetrieben wird, sondern vielmehr von der Dringlichkeit, das Beste aus dem Jetzt zu genießen. Vor sechs Jahren wurde Sänger und Songschreiber Louis Eliot während eines Spanienurlaubs für eine Notoperation ins Krankenhaus gebracht und ist dabei kurz dem Tode nah gewesen. Seine vollständige Genesung war eine Epiphanie. "Man könnte meinen, wenn man dem Tod sehr nahe ist, sollte man anfangen, sich um sich selbst zu kümmern", sagt er. ,Aber ich bin einfach mit Vollgas meiner Jugend hinterhergejagt. Ich dachte mir nur: Egal, vielleicht bin ich nächste Woche nicht mehr da, ich stürze mich einfach rein." Ein Teil von Eliots Wiedergeburt bestand darin, dass er eine langjährige Beziehung hinter sich ließ, um erneut in die Londoner Club-Szene einzutauchen. Ein bedeutender Teil davon waren die Romantik und die Verwundbarkeit, die er dort fand. Ein anderer Teil davon war die Erkenntnis, dass die Songs, die in dieser Zeit entstanden - Lieder über Liebe und Verlust, Hedonismus und Reue, die in wehmütigen Geisterstunden spielen - ein Ruf aus der (eigenen) Vergangenheit waren. Neon and Ghost Signs eröffnet in gewollt simpler und eingängiger Dancefloor-Ästhetik mit der ersten Single "No One Leaves This Discoteque Alive". Eliot, mit einem lasziven Brel-Knurren, vergießt Tränen in der Discotheque, ist "der Hund der Londoner Stadt", wo "die Laken mit Gold befleckt sind", der darauf aus ist, "seinen Kopf zu verlieren" und Liebe als perfekten Sturm zu erleben. Es ist der Auftakt zu einem "Durch die Nacht mit...", den das gesamte Album mit der von Rialto bekannten Widescreen-Pop Leidenschaft verfolgt. Rialto waren in Südostasien Superstars mit Doppel-Platin und in Großbritannien immer ein hochgelobter Kult, aber zweifellos eine Band, die ihrer ästhetischen Zeit voraus war. It is a geographically diverse yet like-minded ensemble whose seeds were sown during an A Colourful Storm show in London, where time on stage was shared by Atkinson, Time is Away and Petrie. 4 Jahre nach dem schieren Ansturm von "Sumerian Promises" kehren Sijjin mit ihrem zweiten Werk "Helljjin Combat" zurück. Das Album beschwört sein eigenes Leben voller satanischer Bilder, teuflischer Ausschweifungen und biblischem Fatalismus. After two decades of trailblazing collaborations with world-renowned artists – Moses Sumney, Grace Jones, Radiohead and Baxter Dury, to name a few - along with various accolades - including a Mercury Prize Nomination, ESKA’s new album stands as her most personal and compelling work yet. A self-directed journey, it sees her embracing her ultimate creative partner: herself.

The trio entered the studio with broader concepts and themes in mind, but no preconceived music. The overarching concept was to make a film score for a film that had yet to be created, to use minimal instrumentation, or more specifically not their standard band instruments, and to improvise within these parameters. OST was fully written and recorded in the studio. The band was free to enter the live room and record a take with whatever instrument was at hand. Once they had a good foundation for a song, Ball, Wattie, drummer Tasy Hudson and even engineer/producer Seth Manchester would each build on it, layering takes, from instrumental improvisations to abstract vocals, until they felt it was a completed piece. Wattie"s voice seamlessly blends with the instrumental flourishes made from "The Instrument", a Wurlitzer, prepared piano, synths and a very limited amount of electric guitar. Additionally, there is a sprinkling of flute by Melissa Guion (MJ Guider). The performances of each player are tactile and ardent, even at their most subtle and effected. Following OST"s completion, BIG|BRAVE contacted director/ visual artist Stacy Lee to visually score the record. Director Lee and BIG|BRAVE, having previously collaborated, had established an artistic understanding which allowed BIG|BRAVE to give Lee no instruction, no limitations: the creative process synthesized across film and music. What happens when you combine SUMAC: a band that uses the volume, distortion, and guitar-centric approach of metal to make music that has the malleability of jazz and textural exploration of noise with Moor Mother: a poet and sound artist that has deconstructed hip hop to a point where it"s less about rhyme and rhythm (though obviously both are present in her work) and more about oratorical cadence and power.

The Film is an album that takes attributes of both artists" work and finds common ground in shifting musical patterns, and expressive force. The record is a musical thumbing of their noses at the more traditional approaches of their respective fields, an innovative, powerhouse of an album. The Film"s moniker speaks to the fact that it is conceived and delivered as a complete album, a full story or narrative. Moor Mother puts it best: "The idea is to create a moment outside of the convention. This is a work of art.

Thinking about the work as a Film, instead of an album or a collection of songs. This task is impossible in an industry that wants to force everything into a box of consumption. You won"t understand or get the full picture until the artwork is completed. This work is developing and is requesting more agency within the creative process." The Film is just such a work, a nebulitic collaboration between SUMAC and Moor Mother.

"I'll Wait For You In The Car Park", the first full length collaboration between Argentinian cellist, improviser and composer Violeta García and Swiss musician and composer Hora Lunga, is a work of extremes. Drawing from the realities of life on two continents, and embodying moods ranging from stoic desire to violent bursts, the album enciphers so-called ordinary moments from everyday life into an alluring collection of musical scenes. Seemingly inconspicuous moments are condensed into a tale of synchronicity: colliding time zones and seasons, metropolitan rhythms raining down onto a glacier's ice field, exploring places through street view, the serendipity of loitering at a kiosk. As such, "I'll Wait For You In The Car Park" brings documentary film essays to mind that carefully observe the private and everyday occurrences.
Violeta García and Hora Lunga crossed paths by chance in 2023 and began discussing and sharing music shortly afterwards. What started as a loose exchange of ideas, sending back and forth sketches and demos between South America and Europe, grew into several studio sessions in 2024. Being sucked into a "quite extraordinary flow", the two musicians recorded, arranged and intervened on a level playing field, using the studio as a playground to record musical layers and interweave them with field recordings and audio notes gathered over the course of a year. Speaking a kindred musical language, they quickly realized how their ideas clung to each other like two familiar souls, complementing, intertwining and merging. From gauzy and eerie textures, musical miniatures floating through time, howling and screaming strings, to tumbling and thundering basses – the sound of the ordinary shapes a body that vibrates, writhes and breathes.

Violeta García is a cellist, improviser and composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Based in Spain, she tours a lot with her band Blanco Teta. She is a performer in many art forms, including free improvisation, contemporary and trans-media experimental repertoire in violoncello and electronics and collaborations with dancers, film makers and visual artists. After years of studying classical and popular music on violoncello and, later, contemporary composition and improvisation, Violeta has developed her own musical voice needed to emerge beyond outside specific genres.

Throughout Swiss composer and musician Hora Lunga's work, the focus lies is on exploring boundaries, both musically and in terms of performance and content. Above all, genre designations lose all meaning, as the music always takes place within a dramaturgically conceived overall framework. In recent years, his projects have ranged from pop music productions to experimental works and sound performances, as well astheatre and film productions. His ensemble WIRREN consists of up to fifteen performers.

In Therese Damberg besitzen die Schweden eine Sängerin, deren Stimme an eine Kreuzung aus Acids Kate, Leather Leone und Johanna von Lucifer erinnert.

Nach einer Reihe von zunehmend elektronisch geprägten Veröffentlichungen, kehren Billow Observatory mit einer völlig ambienten, schlagzeuglosen Perle von einem Album zu den Soundgefilden ihres Debüts aus dem Jahr 2012 zurück. Indem sie den Zufall und die Zufälligkeit umarmen, erheben sich spektrale Gitarren, flirren und knistern in staubige Partikel, während das Konzept der Zeit in jedem Track aus dem Fenster geworfen wird. Eine zunehmend feindselige Gesellschaft trägt zweifelsohne zum Gefühl der Introspektion und der Suche nach dem ,Anderssein" bei. Grübelnd, unheimlich, und wunderschön, werden die Hörer mit einer sehr detaillierten Sammlung von Songs belohnt, die Visionen von sich langsam drehenden Kugeln hervorrufen die leicht aus der Achse geschleudert werden. Das Duo, bestehend aus Jason Kolb (Michigan, USA) und Jonas Munk (Dänemark), begann 2006 mit der Zusammenarbeit und schickte sich gegenseitig Tracks über den Atlantik, was schließlich zu einer Veröffentlichung führte. Was zunächst als Nebenprojekt begann, wurde langsam zur Haupttätigkeit der beiden Künstler. Inzwischen haben sie insgesamt vier Alben veröffentlicht. Ihre Musik hat sich im Laufe der Jahre weiterentwickelt und ein Level der Perfektion erreicht, das sonst nur Produzenten zugestanden wird, die schon seit Jahrzehnten im Geschäft sind. Billow Observatory stehen mittlerweile für Ambient-Musik auf höchstem Niveau.

Über 10 Tracks hinweg basteln Brenden Sepe (Gitarre und Gesang), Finn Beard (Gitarre und Gesang), Bronwyn Bradshaw (Bass und Gesang) und Ian Collins (Schlagzeug) ihre Pop-Moral mit einem kruden Unterbau. Eine immerwährende Gänseblümchenkette. Locker gefesselt in Big Blue, in den weiten, sonnendurchfluteten Straßen, in einer Garage auf der Lexington, in den kleinen Bars, in denen sich alle wie Stars aufführen. Aufgenommen im Frühjahr 2024 in Los Angeles mit Robbie Cody (Wand, Pink Trash Can), spielt Georgia Overdrive wie ein Best-Of, ein Hit-geladener Schlag in den Magen. Momente, die an Velvet Underground oder an die Sonics erinnern, an die SST-Rocker Opal aus den späten 80ern oder an die Indie-Expressionisten Summer Hits, kulminieren in einer Zärtlichkeit und einem Geräuschgerangel. Entstanden in ihrer Heimatstadt Los Angeles, ist dies das erste Semi Trucks-Album mit voller Bandbesetzung (Sepe veröffentlichte ,Vs California" 2021 als Solo-Schlafzimmerprojekt). Sie gingen hart zur Sache und achteten sehr darauf, mit Tiefe und Präzision zuzuschlagen, indem sie Feedback und zuckersüße Hooks verwoben. Sepe's mühelose Gesangsmelodien tanzen mit dem gehauchten Gesang von Bradshaw. Das Zusammenspiel und der Schlagabtausch ist mühelos, während sich die Platte entfaltet. Ein Lauffeuer. Zerbrochene Keramik. Orange- und rosafarbenes, flockiges Chrom in einer Dose. Glückselige Untermalung, dunkler als die Nacht, volle Kraft voraus, nirgends abzuschalten.

The Arockalypse is the third studio album by Finnish rock band Lordi. It includes the hit single "Hard Rock Hallelujah", which won the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 for Finland. The album was certified with a triple Platinum status in Finland, Gold in Germany, and Sweden. It reached the number one chart position in Finland, Sweden, and Greece. The Arockalypse has several guest appearances: Dee Snider and Jay Jay French from Twisted Sister, Udo Dirkschneider from Accept/U.D.O. and Bruce Kulick from Kiss.
