There are few electronic musicians as accomplished as A Guy Called Gerald From writing genre-expanding records as a member of 808 State and as a solo artist, to crafting what journalists call the greatest jungle album ever made under the moniker Black Secret Technology, AGCG has spent four decades redefining what electronic music can be. With collaborations, remixes, and tracks for the biggest names in house, techno, drum & bass, and jazz, one thread remains constant: in any decade or any genre, AGCG's music continues to be celebrated as genre-pushing excellence.

Juice Box is AGCG's label, named after his Manchester-based soundsystem. Originally established in 1992, the label went on an unofficial hiatus before the decade's end as AGCG's output demanded wider release. pairing two essential cuts from Gerald's vault that have long deserved proper vinyl treatment. On the A-side, the absolute classic "Voodoo Ray" finally returns to wax. On the flip, 1990's "I Won't Give In" resurfaces from the archive, a reminder that even Gerald's deep cuts carry the weight of lost classics. Juice Box is back, and the catalog has plenty of treasures to unearth, along with new material from one of the all-time greats.

San Francisco electronic pioneers Darwin Chamber and DJ Spun head down the arcade for four tracks of the unmistakable flavour of modified 8 Bit sound chips from the 80s. 'LFO's Are Real' definitely nods to the Leeds duo that kicked the Warp Records revolution off, but that's just a starting point for some rough edged electro machinations and some spooky extra-terrestrial samplings. '8-Bit Phantasy' connects Chicago-style piano magic with acid undertows and gets brought to dancefloor life by a serious injections of funky ass breakbeatery. 'Intruder Alert' is the gnarliest of the lot, the bass end nothing if not speaker threatening, before 'We Gotta Get' is wonderfully disorientating disco dub delirium. Raw and direct, this will set the floor alight quicker than a can of petrol and lit match.

Brazilian artist Rubel isn’t one to be pigeonholed and typecast into staying in one sound. Casas, the follow-up to his debut album Pearl from 2015, brought a bigger, more epic, and richer production quality to the table. Fusing the worlds of MPB and hip hop, Rubel’s sophomore LP built on the momentum of its predecessor, gaining a Latin-Grammy nomination along the way. Mr Bongo is proud to be giving Casas its first worldwide release on vinyl and CD outside of Brazil and Japan.

The cliché they say is that the second album is always the trickiest; however, Rubel doesn’t seem to have had any problems on Casas. It’s a fountain of creativity and originality, marking an artist in full flow.

Conceived after Rubel spent six months living in Los Angeles, Casas is MPB-leaning at its core but is also driven by a hip hop inspired pulse. There is a clear influence from hip hop’s aesthetic across the 2010s woven subtly but fundamentally throughout. Nods to Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, The Creator can be heard across an album full of playful edge and personality. Luscious string-led arrangements and tracks that explore the rich folkloric rhythms of Brazil, sit next to songs with low-fi drum machines and features from acclaimed Brazilian rappers.

One of the highlights of the album, ‘Mantra’, starts with a traditional Brazilian rhythm that morphs into a hazy hip hop beat. A sublime song with a hooky call and response chorus, it features a guest appearance and verse by the Brazilian MC Emicida. Another highlight is the epic ‘Colégio’ (College) which further showcases the melding of stripped back drum machine beats with cinematic, sweeping arrangements. Elsewhere, ‘Partilhar’ is a swaying, heartwarming hug. A tale of longing and love that has become a singalong fan favourite at Rubel’s concerts.

Casas also shines a light on a string of key players in Brazil’s new vanguard, such as Pedro Fonte, Gus Levy, and Brazilian rapper / poet Rincon Sapiência to name a handful. The record has pop sensibilities yet also feels underground. It beats with the heart of a singer-songwriter, a feeling that was felt so strongly on Pearl, yet this time is bolstered by a level of arrangement and richness of sound that take it to another dimension - soaring horn and string sections elevating the songs from home recording to stadium-ready anthems. Keeping that intrinsic beauty and simplicity of a well-constructed song yet reframing it within a pop context is the true gift of this album.

Casas cemented Rubel’s status as one of Brazil’s leading contemporary talents and a key figure enriching the country’s already effervescent scene.

Mr Bongo reissue Bobby Williams’ coveted deep funk rarity Funky Super Fly from 1974. Rich in raw, gritty, from-the-heart grooves, the influence of James Brown is strong, yet the tracks are distinctly Bobby. Oozing style and substance, the album is full of fiery horn sections, strutting guitars and infectious basslines tracked by plenty of prime breakbeats. Front to back stacked with highlights, cuts from the album have been famously sampled by DJ Shadow, Coldcut, and more.

For years Funky Super Fly has been a funk aficionado favourite. It’s a sensational set of recordings from vocalist and bandleader Bobby Williams, with plenty of cherished raw-funk heaters in the mix. ‘Funky Superfly’, ‘Soul Brother Party’, and ‘Let’s Jam’, are three standouts that have all the ingredients to ignite even the most subdued of dancefloors. The unprocessed natural energy in these songs speaks to your very soul – Bobby grooving over his captivating funk-fuelled band with dynamism and class. Both ‘Funky Superfly’ and ‘Soul Brother Party’ appear on the album as one continuous track, whereas on the 7” versions they were cut into parts 1 & 2.

Alongside the uptempo dancers on the album, Bobby goes deep on the soul ballad ‘Morning Of Love’, which simmers with intensity and heartache. The album's closing instrumental track, ‘Fair Trade,’ has a wah-wah guitar-driven Blaxploitation film soundtrack sensibility, and is a slept-on gem off the album nestled amongst the big hitters.

The use of Bobby’s music has been sampled decades later, immortalising him for a new audience of record collectors and sample hunters. The pulsating title track ‘Funky Superfly’ was used as a sample source for DJ Shadow’s ‘The Number Song’ off his iconic Endtroducing..... album in 1996. In addition, ‘Soul Brother Party’ was used a year later on Coldcut’s fantastic ‘More Beats & Pieces’ album. This turned a whole new audience onto the magnetism of Bobby Williams' music and added to the frenzy of hungry DJs in the ‘90s looking to unearth obscure funk 45s.

Funky Super Fly is for those who like their funk and soul at its purest. It’s no-nonsense, electrifying and one of the jewels of ‘70s funk, perfect for fans of James Brown and Charles Bradley.

Marc Cotterell shows his A&R class here with another brilliantly assembled various artists EP on his Plastik People label, which is essential for fans of timeless house and garage fusions. The record kicks off with Deep South Soul's 'Harmonica Man' as remixed by Mellow Man and it has a touch of the bluesy Saint Germain to its lithe deep house and spoken words. Mellow Man then drops the 90s-coded 'So Deep', with warm organ chords and bubbly drums that have a New York swagger to them. Manhattan Project turns up the heat with a raw, hardcore garage-house swinger in the form of 'Turn That Up' and Reign Of Rhythm layers up neat stabs and leggy kick drums on the sleazy 'Cum Inside'. Essential and effective house.

Seasons Limited is the only place to go for the always stirring deep house of French legend Franck Roger. He's dropped a ton of the good stuff in recent times and is far from done yet if this new one is any sort of marker. His 'Seashore' EP starts with a title track perfect for early hours when the vibes are building or later on when the energy is simmering rather than boiling. The dub version is even more adrift in an ocean of warming rhythmic swells. 'L'Amour Fou' brings a little more bounce and some cosmic synth arpeggios that are gently loopy and constantly evolving. 'The Quest' shuts down with far-sighted astral reverie and a widescreen horizon that leaves you in awe.

Mysticisms’ explores the previously unknown Dub House, Digidub and electronic Street Soul of Manchester émigré Andrew Fitzgerald aka Atone on a 6 track EP, shape shifting from dark basements to summer fields, the music is wide-screen dreams, mixing psychedelic temperaments with ecstatic memories.

Dub Dats is a compendium of a life around or making music, beats, dubs; menageries of sound that encompass a love of reggae mixed with the influences of youth. Growing up in Thatcher’s then declining Manchester housing estates, Fitzgerald found escape first as a young roadie, just aged 15, sorting ‘cigarettes and alcohol’ for visiting bands. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of The Buzzcocks, Ian Dury and The Slits, was a great way to learn the ropes, while avoiding becoming another juvenile delinquent.

A love of Bowie, Kraftwerk, Motown, film scores and the emerging electronic and industrial bands like Throbbing Gristle led to a first studio, featuring the unique and faithful DR-55 Dr. Rhythm, soon followed by Sequential Circuits Pro One, Juno 60, Roland 303 (x 2), Roland 808 and Space Echo.

Working on music solidly, a release finally appearing on Robs Records, before losing all the equipment in a robbery. Manchester was shifting, gangs and “Gunchester” meant it was time to move on and when ‘an out’ appeared, Fitzgerald was landing in Sydney and settling into a new life.

Hooking up with Ali Omar, who he’d met while doing a stint in Brixton, London; the two worked solidly on music, gigging continuously, hanging with the likes Severed Heads and living a good life of that post acid-house party era. The loss of Ali to cancer, still young, hit hard and period “quite liked the madness” ensued. Rehab and starting again, Atone has been gaining some interest.

With 2 EPs of early works recently released on Tonal Oceans, Dub Dats looks deeper, with the dubbed house grooves of title cut, Dats and, the intriguingly named, Somewhere In France With Eric Random. Complimented by the electronic dub of Keep On, the soulful, slow breaks torch song, I Be There, the sample heavy Sound Of Soul and closing, trippy Unlike You, this is a multi-genre producer of considerable capability and talents.

Finally getting his due, Dub Dats perfectly fits the Dubplate Series, broadening its soundscape, while also standing out as its own, sonic release.

Atone the mystery.

Music from Tokyo / New York serves as the 2024 sequel to his previous release, Music for Joshua Tree. This conceptual album is divided into Side A (Tokyo) and Side B (New York), utilizing field recordings captured in each location. The ceramic images featured on LP jacket is the work of Namiko Ishikawa (NamipotNYC).

On this record, he incorporates Ambient, Downtempo, Trip-hop, and Dub—bringing to life the specific sounds currently resonating in his mind and his original roots.

Since the pandemic, he has been traveling and capturing "environmental sounds" through field recordings, which served as the primary inspiration for this record. Side A features tracks inspired by the atmosphere of Tokyo, including recordings from streets, parks near his home in Japan. Side B explores New York, incorporating the sounds of Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well as the chirping of insects recorded in the New York mountains.

While the album remains centered on analog synthesizers and vinyl samples, he has introduced analog drum machines and glitch noise to craft the groove. Unlike his previous work, this release brings prominent bass lines and added more Dub elements to the forefront. His primary focus for this project was expressing a sense of "space" and "air" through the meticulous use of reverb and delay.

Throughout the album, he invites the listener to imagine the unique "local atmosphere" he experienced during his travels.

Det Gode Selskab continue their quest as they call on Berlin-based Italian artist Busso. Diving straight in with ‘Sexual Desire’, Busso delivers perky and playful peak-time action, with a clean-cut, feel-good energy from the word go. A vintage feel emerges through the vocals and crisp drums, working in sweet harmony. Slick hi-hats lead the way in ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ before you are confronted with a killer elasticated groove synonymous with the Italian’s sound. Beautiful chords appear at the midway point, spiralling into paradise.
The B-side kicks off with the title track, constructed in a distinct chunky manner. Squelchy mechanical tones manoeuvre around the mysterious drive of the track. Moody as it moves, it’s one for the darker nights on the road. Last but not least is ‘Red Print’, tightly packaged and incredibly detailed, with quirky obscurities flashing throughout. A steady motion perfectly sets the tone as you start to build the floor.
This record cements an exciting future for the label, as they look to continue elaborating on their catalogue, ever-evolving and expanding their width of sounds with one of the most exciting prospects currently in the German capital.

Cultivated Electronics celebrates two decades at the forefront of electro with its landmark 50th release on the main label, returning to the very beginning with a new release from Signal Type - the collaborative project of label head Sync 24 and Matt Whitehead. The anniversary EP pays homage to the sound that launched Cultivated Electronics back on CE001 A1, with Signal Type delivering "Break Through", a snappy, driving and psychedelic electro workout built firmly for the dancefloor. Funky, spacey and packed with the restless energy that has defined the label since its inception, the track feels both like a nod to CE's roots and a statement of where the label stands today. The celebrations continue with three remixes from long-standing Cultivated Electronics collaborators and influential figures within the electro scene. Keith Tenniswood, aka Radioactive Man, brings an old-school, Mad Mike-esque Underground Resistance flavour to his rework, injecting the original with raw Detroit-inspired energy and machine-driven propulsion. Carl A. Finlow, operating under his Silicon Scally moniker, takes things deeper, delivering a heady after-hours interpretation built around immersive, late-night club sonics. Rounding out the EP, Finnish electro pioneers Morphology deliver a hypnotic, 90s-inspired roller, bringing their distinctive analogue sensibility and futuristic groove to the original. The vinyl edition arrives on blue marbled translucent coloured vinyl, housed in a full-sleeve package featuring artwork from Geometric Love. From its first release to its 50th, Cultivated Electronics has remained dedicated to forward-thinking electro, connecting classic machine funk with contemporary club sounds. Disco Segreta is going to make Italo disco fans very happy once again, with the reissue of one of the hardest-to-find and most coveted late Italo disco obscurities: Gabriella Bove’s “Autoblu”.

Originally written and produced by Argentine-born singer and songwriter Chaly Albert, “Autoblu” has recently caught the attention of hardcore diggers for its unmistakable ’80s Italo disco sound paired with a chilled sun & sea latin vibe, melting Italo disco with synth-pop.

Released in 1989, when the Italo disco craze was starting to fade into what would eventually become the early Italian dream house sound, “Autoblu” pairs Bove’s peculiar vocal presence with a combination of sounds that is now instantly associated with the Balearic aesthetic. Perhaps precisely because it was so ahead of its time, the record failed to find its audience upon release: of the original 500-copy pressing, most copies reportedly ended up being destroyed.

Disco Segreta reissues both original 12″ versions in a strictly limited edition, sourced from the original master tape and faithful to the tracklist and aesthetic of the original release.

Full Range Motion co-founder 393AD returns to his own label with 'Known Universe EP', providing four more introspective modular-based jams using Perkons as the main rhythm box. The Amsterdam-based DJ, producer, and nightlife devotee opens the EP with 'Void' a percussive, rolling, and fluttering cut. 'Cluster', on the same side, is a devious tool in the right hands with its abstract groundwork and overwhelming single stab 3D sound design. Over on the flip, 'Wall' is straitjacket paranoia-techno in stripped form. Closing this EP is 'Filament', the name itself providing a vivid cosmic image for the track: intertwining, spiralling melodies connecting filmic scenes of interstellar dust.

‘I have always been drawn to those ambiguous territories between beauty and terror, and the Trinity test is their epitome: magnificent, sublime, terrifying, annihilating. A destructive power that, somehow, only love can compare with.’

The prescriptive art and performance of Berlin based, French producer, Julienne Dessagne, has concluded with a starkly beautiful reimagining of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game.

As Fantastic Twins, her continuing creative manifestation for music and performance, has released an array of electronic art for the body and mind. A sonic exploration of dual characters shaped through experimental pop, cinematic electronics and the outer edges of techno.

First appearing on the cult Hippie Dance label, before establishing a long and warm collaboration with Keith McIvor aka JD Twitch and his inspiring Optimo Music label, as well as her own House Of Slessor label, this release comes full of mythology and symbolism.
Immersive sound design, narrative tension, and emotionally charged atmospheres, the origin of the project – Wicked Game (Trinity Version) – was composed for a live performance at the Beta Biennale Of Architecture Of Timișoara in September 2024 and given a limited digital release soon after.

The impact on the artist and the music was multi-layered:

‘While recording this cover, images of the Trinity nuclear test, as reimagined by David Lynch in Twin Peaks (Season 3 / Episode 8) kept resurfacing, almost on a subliminal level, suggesting another wicked game: humanity’s love affair with science and technology, driven by the same mix of desire fascination and inevitability that animates Chris Isaak’s original song.’

Approached by Emotional Response, this updated “vinyl” edition is re-recorded / remastered and comes with new interpretations by Julienne herself, as well as remixes by Aho Ssan and Optimo (Espacio).

Dessagne offers a spectrum of mixes and moods; the centrifugal ‘Trinity Version’ a sweeping cinematic masterpiece, between beauty and terror, the artist transmits the aesthetics of sublime; while ‘Thousand Suns Version’ fuses industrial and techno soundscapes for a beatdown reimagining; the melancholia ‘Atomic Love Version’, where the beautiful vocals are matched with a glitchy, clipping ambience; and the finale, the ‘Core Version’ shines a personal, drifting odyssey.

The accompanying remixes see Aho Ssan (Niamké Désiré), composer and sound artist, his remake merging a love of darkcore drone with moments of uplifting energy, the ‘Core Version Aho Ssan Remix’, a fusion of craft and Dessagne’s vocals.

To close, taking up the Optimo remix mantle, Jonnie Wilkes embraces the propulsion, his ‘Thousand Suns Version Optimo (Espacio) Remix’, offering brooding, electro-driven percussion that overflows with emotion and completes this stunning, evolving, organic and singular remake.

The Easy Way Out is the first proper release from London's THE EASY EIGHT, sometimes shortened to just EZ8, because why the hell not?
They might be a new band, but feature familiar faces from a some of the best London hardcore punk bands of the last ten years, including THE CHISEL, ARMS RACE, STINGRAY and LAST AFFRONT to name a few. This time around they are going for a more melodic approach. Think of the more melancholic moments of the 80's RAMONES records with a touch of MISFITS and you're on the right track.
This LP compiles the first two recording sessions. Side A features the first session, originally released online last autumn while Side B is rounded out with four brand new songs. It's a great snapshot of the band finding and perfecting their sound during their first year and these songs are guaranteed to be stuck in your head for days.

Regarded by many as the greatest funk album of all time, ‘One Nation Under A Groove’ was recorded at United Sound in Detroit & included a live track from their concert appearance at the Monroe Civic Center in Louisiana in April 1978. The band’s tenth studio album released during September 1978 was also their most commercial & gave the band their first platinum disc. The iconic title track was an international hit and a US R&B No.1. With lead guitarists Michael Hampton & Eddie Hazel dazzling, the personification of funk Bootsy Collins on bass, Bernie Worrell & Walter “Junie” Morrison’s keyboard wizardry & many more, the album was produced by the genius of George Clinton. Regularly ranked at or near the top of various “best album” lists, ‘One Nation Under A Groove’ is mastered for vinyl in a deluxe facsimile gatefold sleeve with booklet & lyric inner sleeves, all housed in a protective PVC sleeve. The albums’ original bonus songs are now included on a second 12-inch “Special EP” which adds the rare 11-minute “Disco Mix” of ‘One Nation Under A Groove’ to replicate the original first UK pressing from 1978. FUNKADELIC Masterminded by the larger-than-life figure of George Clinton, Funkadelic was a key component of his influential P-Funk empire. Funkadelic’s unique combination of Rock, Psychedelia, R&B & Soul led to the band crossing over to the pop mainstream & gaining a vast international following, becoming one of the most important & influential groups in music. Following the success of Under Tangled Silence last year which peaked at number one in the Dance Albums charts and peaked at 9 on the Albums Chart staying in for 21 weeks, DjRUM returns to Houndstooth with a 15 minute continuous EP pressed to side A and a custom etched picture disk on Side B.

Felix (DjRUM) was a child prodigy as an instrumentalist and his advanced musicality has always been prominent in his music, but here he has put himself front and centre as a composer. And this sense of exposure as a performer interweaves with an unflinching emotional openness too. Where sometimes electronic production as advanced as this can use intellect and techniques as shields from soul-baring, this is the sound of someone who can boldly say “I feel things, I cry all the time, and I'm not afraid to say it or show it in the music.” But this doesn’t mean there’s a move away from the soundsystems and dancefloors where Felix made his name as a uniquely innovative vinyl DJ, this EP encapsulates his musical upbringing weaving in percussive elements across the stereo field to create a truly mesmerising listening experience.

System One. Bass Beats Pads & Bleeps

Hazy chords linger over Conoley's signature bounce, characterizing this whole record of humid grooves. Cruisin' Summer Heat sounds more like sunset, while Sound Drips takes us to somewhat darker terrain. The talking percussion on the latter reveals its own compelling atmosphere even before a scant melody sneaks in at the seams.

Underappreciated deep house stalwart Nico Lahs makes a welcome appearance with an unsurprisingly compelling rework on the B side. His remix warms us back up again with a beachside bonfire toasty bassline & shimmying backbeat.

From the co-writer of the iconic Hardcore Uproar, Suddi Raval arrives on Hello World Records with his debut EP — a five-track electronic journey that moves effortlessly between disco, electro, experimental electronics and analogue-fuelled psychedelia.

At the heart of the release is “Laser Beams and Mirror Balls”, the EP's titular track, reimagined by superstar DJ and producer Justin Robertson, who takes the neon-charged original and pushes it into new disco dimensions with his unmistakable production touch.

The journey begins with Robertson's remix before moving into the original French-vocalled version of “Laser Beams and Mirror Balls” — a hypnotic, pulsating slice of electronic disco that sets the tone for what follows.
On the flip side, “Oni Strangler” takes a darker, more hypnotic and exotic turn, drawing the listener deeper into Raval's richly textured electronic world. “Robot Computer” follows with a growling bass machine of electronic stabs, warped drones and relentless low-end energy.

Closing the EP is “Zub Sierra”, a spaced-out voyage through a dubbed-out otherworld before descending into deep, resonating electro synths — the kind of beautifully unpredictable analogue textures that only an analogue Odyssey can deliver.

Across all five tracks, Raval combines electro-flavoured rhythms with a kaleidoscope of electronic textures, forging pulsing basslines, hypnotic melodies and richly layered soundscapes. Digital Sting returns after a bit of a hiatus with an across-the-globe collaboration featuring two of contemporary electronic music's most mysterious and prolific figures. Berlin-based, UK- born Low End Activist meets British Columbia-based, Philippines-born SeekersInternational for a seamless merger of their distinct but eclectic styles. SKRSINTL's woozy abstracted dubwise and dancehall psychedelia drips in, pooling and merging into Low End Activists minimalist and precision delivered bass bin pressure. Both artists' music spends some of its time in the hazy edges and ambience between sounds with hints of the activity,

atmosphere and noise of the larger world present in the individual sounds themselves. An aspect of this record rides like a distilled essence of a merger between vhs era soundtracks, dusty live sound system tapes and classic era grime instrumentals but avoids the trap of obvious nostalgia. What is created through collage, deconstruction and refinement is in its whole very now. Like all things SKRSINTL and Low End Activist the continuum is honored and the momentum is always pushing forward.

The records come in double sided silk screen printed DJ Jackets, with Obi Strip style stickers and hand stamped white labels printed and assembled by Digital Sting.

The Jerome Hill remix of Beck’s standout track ‘Glasgow Choir’ finally gets a release here, alongside the unforgettable original for the first time on vinyl plus 2 fresh new Techno hammers.

Killer Groove Records presents a new 7" by Electric Circus, pairing "High Fever" and "Ogres": raw, hypnotic funk built on obsessive bass lines, sharp horns, dub delays and wah-wah guitars.

Both tracks are taken from Rites, the band's second studio album, out November 27 on limited-edition LP, CD and digital. The 7" is limited to 500 copies worldwide and is out September 25.
On the A-side, "High Fever" maps Electric Circus's territory: '70s funk, Afrobeat and psychedelia meet in a steady build toward a climax of synths and groove. The track grew from a bass line written over one feverish weekend and runs as a single continuous rise in tension.
The groove takes its cue from The Meters, locking syncopated accents into place while a punchy horn section cuts through from the opening bar. Dub delays and layered textures then open the arrangement out, trading space with wah-wah guitars and a treated clavinet that sounds vintage without dating the mix. After a darker, nocturnal passage, the saxophone rises over percussion and synths for the climax.

On the B-side, "Ogres" was the first track conceived for the album and the last to be completed. It began as a bass-and-percussion ostinato in an Ethiopian pentatonic scale, modelled on a war march, and grew into a dense groove with psychedelic and trip-hop textures. Its rhythm conjures a twilight bestiary of dark, menacing or perhaps merely curious creatures, building to a tense climax before resolving into a smooth, dreamlike finale that suggests awakening, or re-emergence.

Like the rest of Rites, both tracks started in jam sessions and were recorded in stages: live takes of the core arrangements first, then dedicated sessions for synths, horns and overdubs. Marco Sirio Pivetti engineered at Metrò Rec Studio in Riva del Garda, Gio Solo at Sberdia Studio in Turin. Overdubs were reamped through tube amplifiers and analog outboard. The band co-produced with Pivetti, who also mixed; Riccardo Ricci mastered at Velvet Room Mastering Studio in Brighton.

Electric Circus are based in Turin. They released their debut album, Canicola, in 2018 and have toured the U.S. Scoring Contrecourant (2021), a documentary series shot in Senegal and Mali, led them to Sahel Roots, a duo from the north of the country. The two groups recorded On est ensemble (Mieruba, 2023) remotely between Turin and Bamako, each writing two pieces for the other to finish.

The rat is back in the building due to circumstances beyond our control! "rat" is an electronic project born from the gutters of Brussels in 2024 by long-standing collaborators "neither" and "Milius." After 15 years of hidden experiments they have been assembling a sonic language where glitch, ritualised circuitry and spectral noise merge. Originally released as a cassette on Futura, "home" now returns repressed on vinyl. Their debut unfolds as a labyrinth of disjointed rhythms, haunted textures and fleeting moments that feel slightly out of time. What little is known, stays buried. All that remains is to keep listening.

Since starting Bytes in 2019 we’ve fielded a lot of messages along the lines of, “Is this ever going to be released on vinyl?” The bulk of these requests have concerned remixes of artists on Bytes done by Andy Bell (RIDE/Oasis) under his electronic alter-ego GLOK. And on realising that he has done four for us now (Franz Kirmann, Steve Queralt & Michael Smith, Herrmann Kristoffersen and Seagoth), it seemed silly not to compile them all together on a four-track 12” EP. The super limited edition 12” is on black wax and comes in the original Bytes house bag with a vinyl sticker containing all the release info signed by Andy. Edition of 250. No repress.

A1. SOLITARY (GLOK REMIX) - FRANZ KIRMANN

The first remix Andy ever did for Bytes was a radical reworking of ‘Solitary’, the towering ambient closer to Franz Kirmann’s ‘Madrapour’ album, which was released on Bytes in 2019. Andy’s remix is a heartbreaking, melancholic 3am banger. This is one for fans of Four Tet and Jon Hopkins, a slowburner with billowing plumes of distortion that builds towards an ecstatic rush of a finale.

A2. CHALDEAN ORACLE (GLOK REMIX) - STEVE QUERALT & MICHAEL SMITH

In 2023 Andy took ‘Chaldean Oracle’, a track from the collaboration between his RIDE bandmate Steve Queralt and the writer Michael Smith, down the K-Hole, eschewing Michael’s vocal almost entirely and turning in a Detroit dub-techno monster with echoes of Bandulu and Carl Craig in its shimmering melodies, eerie distortion and pounding drums.



B1. GONE GOLD (GLOK REMIX) - HERRMANN KRISTOFFERSEN

‘Gone Gold’ was the title track of the excellent second album by ambient-techno group Herrmann Kristoffersen (2021). Andy taps deep into the dub at the heart of the original, with echoes of John Carpenter's soundtracks and his own extended electronic excursions under the GLOK moniker.



B2. ETERNITY (GLOK REMIX) - SEAGOTH

It was Andy who brought Seagoth to the attention of Bytes when he played ‘Eternity’ on his Soho Radio show in 2020. It all came full circle when Bytes released ‘Eternity’ as a single in 2021, with a stunning remix by Andy in his GLOK guise on the flip. Andy strips the track back to showcase the resonant vocal in all its glory before the blissed-out outro that makes full use of the track’s dancefloor-friendly drum break.

Mack Loenz delivers his debut album From The Heart on Maceo Plex’s Lone Romantic imprint, expanding his razor-sharp, cinematic sound through analog synthesis and retro-futurist design.

Tokyo Riddim Band continue their journey striding across times and cultures, this time with their colourful keyboardist and frontwoman Mimi Kobayashi breathing new life into a song she originally penned in 1981. ‘Lazy Love’ first featured on Mimi’s highly sought after Coconuts High LP, which she recorded in LA recruiting top session players to play alongside her. It was also included in Time Capsule’s 2024 compilation of Japanese reggae - Tokyo Riddim 1976-1985.

This soulful pop tune turned deep dub cut retains the romantic charm of the original, whilst the tasteful performances of the Tokyo Riddim Band and Ras Tavaris combined with Prince Fatty’s studio magic give the song a newly found depth.

London based Tokyo Riddim Band is a unique fusion of cultures, bringing together the vibrant energy of three generations of Japanese female musicians with the eclectic sounds of London. Their dynamic performances blend reggae drums, funky bass lines, and the smooth City Pop guitar, all magically dubbed-out live on stage. This is not just music; it's a cultural phenomenon, offering a fresh and exciting take on the reggae scene.

A seasoned DJ and producer with a long-standing presence in New York’s underground dance community, Olive T has steadily built a reputation through her genre-fluid sets, productions and affiliations with key institutions like The Lot Radio and Nowadays. With past releases on labels like Nervous Records, 2MR and Permanent Vacation, her sound is deeply rooted in classic house traditions while consistently pushing forward with contemporary flair.

Following her contribution to Creaked’s 20th Anniversary compilation in 2024 with the hypnotic track "Salt Reflection", New York-born, Geneva-relocated artist Olive T makes a full return to the label with a proper debut release, Light On. This 4-track EP encapsulates her deep understanding of house music’s rich lineage while illuminating fresh sonic perspectives, complete with a standout remix from Swiss luminary producer Deetron.

It's time for no.7 in the Disco Combine vinyl only series, with two heavy hitters re-worked and re-mixed from the tapes by Dave 'Love' Lee. On the A is 'Not This Time (Baby) (Give Me Some Moore Mix)' a much loved slice of Philly Disco,Aabsolutely bursting with lush orchestral arrangements. This classic jam has been given a noticeably different refresh, with a show-stopping acapella intro and more of the less heard instrumental passages. Speaking of classic, on the B is 'Jammin' Up In Smoke (Ready Steady Eddie Mix)' a Harris Machine, gospel charged chuggerAwhich is given a more groove based mix, which builds up instrumentally before hitting some falsetto vocals half way through, leading to a big hands in the air finale. Mr Bongo proudly presents a first-time worldwide vinyl and CD issue of Rubel’s debut album Pearl. Self-released on YouTube in 2013, the album quietly became a huge hit in Brazil with the lead single and accompanying video for ‘Quando Bate Aquela Saudade’ amassing over 85 million views to date. Pearl laid the foundations for Rubel’s path to greatness - a first glimpse into the brilliance of a modern-day troubadour and ever-evolving Brazilian artist who deftly mixes classic and contemporary influences. Fusing MPB, folk, pop, and indie, it charts Rubel at his purest and most personal.

The journey of Pearl begins with Rubel in his early 20’s studying film in Austin, Texas. Immersing himself in the city’s vibrant DIY music scene and surrounded by countless musicians who he shared a large house with, he set up a home studio with an assortment of rented gear and recorded the album without any expectations. It was inspired by an environment of youth, music and experimentation Rubel found himself within. The seven songs are an attempt to record and take with him a little of what he lived and learned whilst there. He uploaded the album to YouTube, didn’t think much of it and continued to pursue a career in film in LA. Over the next few years however it became a viral hit in Brazil, with a subsequent Brazil only vinyl and CD issue, drawing him both back to Rio and a trajectory to musical stardom.
