Drawing influence from across the spectrum, from foundational artists to contemporary producers, Blade channels those reference points into a sound that feels rooted in the past but firmly present. Strut Records presents a brand new reissue of the 1975 Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express original album Reinforcements. A gem from the later years of the Oblivion Express band, Reinforcements sees Auger evolve from his early ‘70s jazz-rock fusions towards smoother jazz funk sophistication, continuing his journey from the previous year’s Straight Ahead.
With two former Oblivion Express drummers joining Average White Band, there are obvious comparisons to draw as several tracks lean into groove-driven arrangements and polished mid-’70s production.Never one to follow a predictable path, Auger crafts a steadfast, stylish album that captures the evolving sound of the era, offering a rich snapshot of mid-’70s British soul and jazz-funk.

A fan favourite, the album also marks the return of vocalist Alex Ligertwood (later of Santana), whose soulful delivery is a highlight of many Oblivion Express recordings.
He is joined by Jack Mills (guitar), Lennox Langton (percussion), Dave Dowle (drums), and new addition Clive Chaman (bass, flute) – a family affair with their various kids joining for the cover shoot, the full cast adorned in an array of fine mid-‘70s tank tops.

Album highlights include the heavy funk instrumental jam ‘Brain Damage,’ a dynamic, keyboard-driven showcase of Auger’s virtuosity alongside the burning latin jazz workout ‘Something Out of Nothing’ and soaring closer ‘Future Pilot’ taking us from our present day troubles to “thread the skies to a new location.”
‘Big Yin’ is a heartfelt tribute to former drummer Robbie McIntosh following his untimely death. As with all Auger albums, the energy is nothing but positive and soulful – his back cover quote states “May the love you bring to this world be reflected upon you.”
This new Strut reissue of Reinforcements is curated by Greg Boraman of Impressive Collective in collaboration with Brian and Karma Auger. Fully remastered from the original tapes by United Archiving’s Bill Smith, it is presented as a high-quality single LP replica edition.

Vaalbara EP - Franco Rossi Sine Space 7 - Release date: 19 June 2026 - Vinyl

Franco Rossi makes his Sine Space 7 debut with Vaalbara, a five-track vinyl EP (including one vinyl-exclusive cut) that lands the Argentine producer firmly in the label's hypnotic and driving orbit. Following recent releases on Soma Records, MindTrip, and Secession, Rossi arrives with a record that feels both unmistakably his and right at home in the Sine Space 7 catalogue. His productions have already found support from the likes of DVS1, Richie Hawtin, and Setaoc Mass.

Opener Rodinia sets out raw and patient, with two rising builds carried by strange synthetic patterns over a darkening drone. Title track Vaalbara drifts on a modulating high synth line, locked into a hypnotic lower-frequency pattern that pulls the two registers into quiet synergy. Paramo keeps the floating quality but leans darker, with raw drums anchored by finely distorted rides and a backbone of dense texture. A Quemarropa pushes further into ear-candy territory. Distorted rides again, punctuated by one strange, track-cracking sound that refuses to let the listener settle.

The vinyl-exclusive closer Mar Adentro is the weight-bearer, a rolling low-end drive punctuated by a sub-heavy synthetic hit you feel in the chest.

Japan-born, London-based composer-producer Hiro Ama releases his new EP Booster Pack, out now via PRAH Recordings. Where his previous record Music For Peace & Harmony explored spacious, meditative soundscapes, Booster Pack is an energetic, groove-driven statement, a deliberate move toward music designed to get the body moving while retaining the textural detail that defines his work.

Opening track “Booster” sets the tone: a percussive, rhythm-first piece that builds into propulsive, rave-leaning momentum. It was the seed that shaped the rest of the EP, establishing a new direction rooted in groove, movement and physicality.

On the EP, Hiro explains that “After releasing ‘Music for Peace and Harmony’ I wanted to create something completely opposite. Something dancy, something intense. A total 180-degree flip. The album was all about stillness, subtlety, and emotional resonance. This time I wanted to lean fully into energy, fast paced songs, and groove. Create something that I never created and something that could shake you awake rather than calm you down.

“Instead of beginning with piano or harmonic ideas which is usually my starting point. I focused purely on beats and rhythms in the beginning. I didn't add any chords or melodies until I felt happy with the drums and groove layers. It was a new approach for me and it pushed me to think about music more physically and less emotionally.”

The EP features earlier single “Lava”, a rave-inspired, rhythmically intense track built from pulsing bass and a siren-like synth, designed to create tension, energy and movement while keeping the groove at the forefront.

Across the rest of the Booster Pack EP, Hiro leans into percussion, deceptive rhythmic patterns and taut bass to create forward drive; each track begins with groove before melodic elements arrive, resulting in a record that trades reflective stillness for kinetic urgency while maintaining his compositional precision.

Originally released on Umor Rex on cassette a year ago, “El Sol de los Muertos” deeply shaped the evolution and vision of Mexican producer Concepción Huerta’s sonic work, becoming a reference point for a kind of experimental sound deeply connected to Latin American critical thought. This is the second album in a series of four special, limited reissues to be released in 2026 to mark the 20th anniversary of Umor Rex.

Crafted entirely through subharmonic structures and tape manipulation, “El Sol de los Muertos” stands as Concepción Huerta’s most abrasive and emotionally charged work to date, rooted in drone, musique concrète, and visceral textures. The album reflects on dispossession, extraction, and colonialism, while connecting deeply with Latin American critical thought and Indigenous resistance across the region. Inspired in part by Eduardo Galeano’s work, it is not a manifesto, but an invitation to reflection, memory, and vigilance against the enduring forms of fascism and colonialism.

Das Projekt ist bewusst schlank gehalten, wobei Entscheidungen im Raum bleiben und die Musik den Prozess leitet. Act One verbindet emotional direkte Pop-Songwriting-Elemente mit jazzbeeinflussten Harmonien, synthgetriebenen Texturen und zurückhaltenden rhythmischen Experimenten. Beeinflusst von Künstlern wie Air, Sade, Carole King und Tracey Thorn, schaffen die Songs ein Gleichgewicht zwischen Intimität und Vorwärtsbewegung, geprägt von jüngsten persönlichen Umbrüchen und dem gemeinsamen Interesse, der natürlichen Richtung jedes Songs zu folgen, anstatt einen vorbestimmten Sound zu erzwingen. Die Produktion ist songorientiert und explorativ, sodass Textur und Arrangement intuitiv entstehen können. Tol & Tol are the Dutch musical duo made up of brothers Cees Tol and Thomas Tol. In the 1990s, they gained wider recognition with their music, featuring melodic pop songs with a distinctive Mediterranean and world-music influence. Their music gives a warm, summery sound which became quite popular in the Netherlands and beyond. The duo is also known for their collaboration with the popular Dutch group BZN (Band Zonder Naam), of which they both have been of part of. This compilation album presents the most popular and succesful songs of the duo, including their popular songs "Eleni", "Sedalia" and "Recuerdos de la Alhambra".

Of Paradise welcomes Seattle-based artist Hünter with his sophomore album, Mica, a sublime addition to the label’s ever-evolving musical catalogue and one that quickly acquires almost mythical status.

Focused on the relationship between the digital age and the environment, Mica explores the extraction of natural resources, identity, memory, and what remains. Dewa Alit, master of radical Balinese gamelan, returns to Black Truffle with Baur Bentur. Genetic (2020, BT063) introduced international listeners to the magical sound-world of Alit’s Gamelan Salukat, who perform on instruments tuned to a unique scale derived from modified versions of two traditional Balinese scales. The two pieces heard on Chasing the Phantom (2022, BT093) further demonstrated his radical fusion of tradition and experimentation, with passages where unorthodox techniques make the acoustic ensemble resemble glitching electronics. Baur Bentur now highlights another aspect of Alit’s work, presenting pieces composed in 2024 and 2025 where Gamelan Salukat performs alongside virtuoso pianist Sri Hanuraga. Alit’s music is grounded in deep reflection on the tradition of Balinese gamelan and its place in the contemporary world. His title, ‘Baur Bentur’, which translates as ‘mixing and smashing’, points to his embrace of the intercultural mixture of Eastern and Western elements in the search for innovation. Against the calcification of Balinese music into tourist entertainment, Alit poses his searching, experimental work, which celebrates the communal values and performance practices of traditional gamelan while pushing into startling new directions.

‘Sukat Tacara’ is a study in layered tempos, meters, and polyrhythms, a constantly shifting dialogue between piano and the instruments of Gamelan Salukat. It begins close to a traditional concerto, pairing a brisk sequence of melodic variations from the piano with a spare but propulsive accompaniment of drums and hanging metallophone tones, punctuated by low gong strikes. The piano builds in volume and density across a rapid succession of fragments, at points recalling George Antheil’s ticking wind-up machinery, though Hanuraga’s jazz background shines through in the fluidity with which he navigates the complexities of the score, where chromatic movement co-exists with bluesy phrases. An abrupt change in the piano to patterns of dense clusters introduces a new episode, during which the metallic instruments of the gamelan enter the foreground. The piece dazzles with its inventive rhythms and dynamics, building to a stunning passage featuring the signature heavy muting technique of the Gamelan Salukat metallophones in kinetic patterns that would be at home on a Príncipe release.

The title piece begins at high intensity and rarely lets up, working through bracing unison ensemble melodies and punctuation points where piano and gamelan together seem to become a single, thudding drum. For much of the piece the piano is tightly integrated into the ensemble, the harmonic extensions of the melodic line subsumed into a moving cloud of complex overtones generated by the gamelan instruments. Wildly kinetic on the rhythmic level, the piece swarms with microscopic movements of beating patterns generated by the ‘blend and crush’ of three simultaneous tuning systems: the equal temperament of the piano and the saih cenik (small scale) and saih gede (big scale) used by the gamelan instruments. Accompanied by the composer’s thoughtful liner notes and images of the musicians, Baur Bentur is a stunning next step in Alit’s radical combination of tradition and innovation.

COS 010 - Environmental Architecture A fusion of ambient, techno and IDM, often described as a form of “mental abstraction.” Created by Mark Cheney in a bedroom in Clapham, this release captures a moment defined by raw imagination and open-ended experimentation. It sits alongside artists of that era such as B12 and The Black Dog.

At the beginning of the 1960s, at the Berklee College of Music, Byard Lancaster met some feisty friends: Sonny Sharrock, Dave Burrell and Ted Daniel. It is easy to see why he rapidly became involved in free jazz. Once he was settled in New York, he appeared on Sunny Murray Quintet, recorded under the leadership of the drum crazy colleague of Albert Ayler.

In 1968, the saxophonist and flutist recorded his first album under his own name: It’s Not Up To Us. The following year he came to Paris in the wake of... Sunny Murray. He would come back to France in 1971 (again with Murray) and in 1973 (without Murray for a change). This is when he met Jef Gilson, the pianist and producer who encouraged him to record under his own name again.

On Palm Records (Gilson’s label), he would release four albums: Us, Mother Africa, Exactement and Funny Funky Rib Crib.

“Funny Funky Rib Crib” is an unforgettable recording (made up of several sessions dating from the middle of 1974) of creative jazz overwhelmed by funk and soul.

If Lancaster had already made successful albums in the same genre – notably New Horizons, under the name Sounds Of Liberation which he co-led with Khan Jamal –, this one is an homage to James Brown and Sammy Davis enjoying the company of a host of guests including François Tusques (electric piano), Clint Jackson III (trumpet), François Nyombo (guitar), Joseph Traindl (trombone)...

Funny Funky Rib Crib’s cover is a three-quarter profile portrait of the saxophonist (who can also be heard on flute, piano and even vocals), however, on the record, it is the whole group, inspired and frenetic, that tests the melodies of “Just Test”, “Dogtown” or “Rib Crib” – the two versions of which display leader Lancaster’s art of nuance. On both sides of the album, the group also moves into a calmer groove, infused by blues and soul, “Work And Pray” and “Loving Kindness” are meditative tracks where listeners can lay back and relax before asking for more: Funny Funky Rib Crib

The British duo Andrew Eggleton and Daniel Hird, better known as Definite Grooves, return to Groove Culture with a new vinyl release that is pure energy for the dancefloor. Titled "Alive", this EP perfectly captures the essence of the label: delivering high-quality dance music curated with exceptional detail.

The record opens with the title track "Alive", a vibrant anthem that immediately sets the duo's intentions: solid grooves and infectious atmospheres. Citing sources from early Dub influenced Clash, Blitz and The Modern Lovers - Spiritual Cramp exist in a strange vacuum somewhere between David Byrne's oversized suit and a bar fight between a bunch of drunk goons on Polk Street in SF. Hate for the police, the government and the status quo are reoccurring themes in Bingham's lyrics. The sounds borrow from the past, echoes of late 70's / early 80's working class rock and punk, which function on the upbeat, showcasing very bright guitars yet generating darker vocal rhythms and darker patterning.

This solo percussion work was recorded in 1980 and released in 1981 by Masahiko Togashi, one of Japan’s leading percussionists and drummers. After becoming partially paralyzed, he created this recording of a world of sound using drums, bells, gongs, and a wide variety of percussion instruments, together with his own original playing methods and techniques.

Rythm Of Paradise launches his brand new label “Ritmo Adriatico” with "Divina EP", a sonic manifesto of Italian house music. This four-track journey blends the power of main stages with the warm intimacy of clubs, always driven by a profoundly Mediterranean soul. A first release that doesn't just present a sound, but tells a story.

The EP opens with main track "Divina" , powerful and immediate groove built for the dance floor, wrapped in warm atmospheres and bright pads that create a sense of high energy, with emotional breaks that reminds French Kiss sound.

Followed by its remixed version of Divina by St. David where he reimagined and elevate the impact on main stages. The bass becomes more prominent, the groove expands, and the voice became more hypnotice, without ever falling into cliché.

B1. Italia Novanta is where, Ritmo Adriatico reveals its beating heart. "Italia novanta " is a respectful and modern tribute to the golden era of Italo House, diving into the Mediterranean soul of the 90s, reinterpreted with today's power.

Closing with B2. Te Quiero where takes the dreamy atmospheres and immerses them in a deep, meditative dub treatment of spacious bass lines and captivating Italo house piano licks.

Official reissue of a German under-the-radar disco tune. The original from 1979 is a bubbling dancefloor stomper with freewheeling synth lines. For the flipside of this 7" Korkut Elbay created a spaced out balearic dub rework. Picture sleeve with a funky painting by Holger Kurt Jäger that picks up on the original.

The melody of 'Butterfly Dance' came to Dieter Bührig's mind as a butterfly floated through the recording studio during a session break. The resulting track landed on a compilation with mostly cover versions of disco hits. Now, more than 45 years later, the tune found its well-deserved single release on funkscapes.

Korkut Elbay is a fixture of Cologne's electronic music scene for over 20 years. He's part of the Cómeme camp and with remixes and edits for labels like Permanent Vacation or funkscapes he prooves his sensitive feel for the dancefloor. So does he on this rework, giving the orginal space to breathe and calm down without leaving the dancefloor.

Dieter Bührig studied electrical engineering and sound recording in Berlin. Afterwards he worked several years as a sound engineer for the music industry and as a producer. Later on he worked as a teacher for physics and music, trained trainee teachers for secondary schools and wrote articles and publications on musical education, choir and band arrangements. Nowadays he's writing, among other things, musical crime stories.
