Aus der griechischen Black-Metal-Bastion Athen kommen Eleventh Ray mit Klageliedern, die schon seit fast einem Jahrzehnt auf sich warten lassen. Die okkulten Darbietungen in der unheiligen Hülle von Reviving Tehom beschwören den Geist von Celtic Frost, Sodom, den 90er-Jahre-Taten des großen Magus Wampyr Daoloth (Necromantia, Rotting Christ, Thou Art Lord) und natürlich Therions 1993er Symphony Masses: Ho Drakon Ho Megas Album.
Die Saat für Eleventh Ray wurde von Material gesät, das einst für die Black-Metal-Kraft von Serpent Noir geschaffen wurde, deren wechselnde Tonalität Gitarrist Y.K. dazu veranlasste, das besagte Material für einen späteren Zweck zu vergraben. Eine Entscheidung, die erst 2022 durch ein verheerendes Probedemo Früchte trug, das das Interesse von Dark Descent Records weckte.

Maltuka aus dem norwegischen Bergen sind eine aufstrebende Thrash-Metal-Macht, die mit ihrer Vier-Track-Debüt-EP „Black Rite“ für Furore sorgen wird. Gitarrist/Sänger Viljar Brunvoll und Schlagzeuger Mats lernten sich 2016/17 bei Psykopath kennen, mit denen sie zwei EPs aufnahmen und mehrere Konzerte gaben. Als sich diese Band auflöste, arbeiteten die beiden weiter gemeinsam an Demos, die schließlich zur Gründung von Maltuka führten. Mit Einflüssen, die von Metallica und Slayer über Nuclear Assault bis zu den Teutonic-Thrash-Legenden Sodom und Maltukas schwarzmetallischen Landsleuten Immortal reichen, verleihen die Musiker der bewährten Thrash-Formel eine individuelle Note. Die Songs von „Black Rite“ drehen sich um spirituelle und okkulte Themen, die der Musik Tiefe und Atmosphäre verleihen. Das Cover der EP, das auf einem Gemälde von Kim Diaz Holm (Sólstafir, Vreid) basiert, spiegelt die dunklen Themen der Songs wider. Und während sie als Einführung in Maltukas Sound dienen, hat die Gruppe ehrgeizige Pläne für die Zukunft. „Diese EP zeigt unseren härteren, direkteren Songwriting-Stil“, bemerkt Viljar. „Unser erstes Album wird dynamischer sein und eine breitere Palette an Einflüssen und Sounds bieten.“ Mit „Black Rite“ setzen Maltuka ein mutiges Zeichen, indem sie Thrash Metal eigenständig interpretieren, aber auch seine Wurzeln hochhalten. Die internationale Metal-Szene wird bald von dieser Band sprechen, und das hier ist erst der Anfang.

When four young musicians from Munich founded the thrash
band Sodom in the early eighties, nobody could have guessed
that they would deliver a milestone for European progressive
metal with their debut album „Life Cycle“ in 1988. Changes
could already be heard on „Steps“ (1990) and on „A Sense
Of Change“ in 1991 they managed to get fans of prog and art
rock on board for the first time. With the much more melodic
singer Jogi Kaiser, who is still active in musicals today, and a
reduced metal component, this balancing act was achieved
in an impressive way. It was the first Sieges Even album
that was no longer released as an LP by the label at the time
(Steamhammer/SPV), but only on CD. „A Sense Of Change“
was very successful in certain circles, but the band parted
ways with guitarist Markus Steffen. The following two albums
deviated from the previous style, but the reunion took place
in 2005, producing „The Art Of Navigating By The Stars“ and
„Paramount“. The chapter was closed in 2007 with the live
album „Playgrounds“. Markus Steffen and singer Arno Menses
founded Subsignal, who are still successfully active today.
„A Sense Of Change“ is finally being re-released in 2024,
with the argument „for the first time on vinyl“ standing out in
particular. The material was first remastered, then mastered
separately for CD and LP. The booklet and LP insert contain
images from the original release as well as liner notes by
guitarist Markus Steffen. The album was produced by Charlie
Bauerfeind in 1991.

Necrodeath is one of the most important and outrageous names in extreme metal; formed back in 1984, it is one of the first extreme metal bands originating in Italy. They take inspiration from Slayer, Dark Angel, Possessed, Venom, Kreator, Bathory, Celtic Frost and Sodom. The band is also renowned for its live performances and notably for their "wall of sound". The band released a cult-demo tape titled 'The Shining Pentagram' and obtained an incredible success in the underground, which is still considered a real "piece of thrash/black history". Tons of tributes in major magazines, fanzines and other underground outlets highlighted the release of the first two legendary albums 'Into The Macabre' (1987) and 'Fragments Of Insanity' (1989). And today after dozens of full lengths, EPs and side projects the long voyage to hell is not over yet. New Necrodeath album, anticipated by the single on vinyl and video "Transformer Treatment", is the confirmation of a trade-mark consolidated in almost forty years, where the old school of extreme metal is present throughout the album. "Singin 'in the pain" is a concept based on the movie "A Clockwork Orange" by Stanley Kubrick, where the band takes us on a one-way black/thrash journey, represented by immorality and violence, and back to a vain attempt at redemption and normality.

SODOMISERY spinnen auf ihrem zweiten Album "Mazzaroth" ein dunkles lyrisches Garn über den Irrsinn der Gesellschaft, Religion und den Kampf des Individuums. Das schwedische Melodic Death Quartett unterstreicht seinen locker-konzeptionellen Ansatz mit einer bemerkenswerten musikalischen Entwicklung, die ihren ursprünglichen Sound, der auf der Kraft und Präzision des Death Metal basiert, um die rasende und kalte Aggression des Black Metal erweitert. SODOMISERY verleihen ihrem Sound durch den Einsatz von Keyboards eine zusätzliche dramatische Tiefe. Kein Wunder, denn die Schweden zählen DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH und CHILDREN OF BODOM zu den wesentlichen Quellen ihrer Inspiration. SODOMISERY entstanden aus einem Studioprojekt des Stockholmer Gitarristen Harris Sopovic, der die Band mit Hilfe von NETHERBIRD-Frontmann Johan Fridell, Bassist Niklas Sandin (KATATONIA, LIK) und Schlagzeuger Pär Johansson, der für seine Arbeit mit CRAFT und DIABOLICAL bekannt ist, im Jahr 2015 ins Leben rief. Das Resultat war die gleichnamige 3-Track-EP "Sodomisery", die im Jahr 2017 digital erschien. Angespornt von dem massiven Lob für die EP rekrutierte Sopovic neue Mitglieder und beschloss, die Band unter dem Namen SODOMISERY weiterzuführen. Das Debütalbum "The Great Demise" (2020) lässt sich auch als bewusste Absichtserklärung interpretieren, dabei nicht blindlings in die riesigen, obgleich auch etwas abgenutzten Fußstapfen der legendären Stockholmer Death Metal Szene zu treten. Stattdessen bevorzugen die schwedischen Newcomer einen melodischeren und vielseitigeren Ansatz. In der Zeit zwischen ihren Anfängen und dem zweiten Album haben sich SODOMISERY massiv weiterentwickelt, wofür "Mazzaroth" der schlagende Beweis ist!

Canto A Lo Divino is the unique musical expression of the Chilean peasant world - a conversation with the divine nourished by Biblical and other sacred texts. It is communal music, played in packed rooms throughout the night on the 25-string guitarron, its ancient melodies transmitted through the 10-line decima form originating in Spain and found across the Caribbean, South America, and even into the Mississippi Delta. Rooted in the remote Central Valley of Chile at the skirt of the mountains and following the slopes of the major rivers, the Canto tradition has persisted for centuries in the voices of hundreds of men and women who sing of saints, divine images, and angelitos (very young children who have died). The verses are also centered around daily life in the valley - labor and drought, family, animals, and plants. There are countless entonaciones (melodies) that define this region, its communities, and its unique worldview. Mississippi Records is privileged to work with the Museo Campesino En Movimiento and their archive of hundreds of hours of intimate field recordings of the Canto - music rarely, if ever, heard outside of the region. Artwork is provided by another inhabitant of Chile's Central Valley, a baker called Frederico Lohse, who brought divine visions from the Cantos to life, painted on reused flour bags. Canto A Lo Divino celebrates the complexity and solemn, stunning beauty of this nocturnal, communal form of musical devotion. Martin und John kennen sich seit mehr als 30 Jahren und Ian und Zak sind seit mehr als 20 Jahren mit ihnen befreundet. Auch Hanno ist ein sehr langjähriger Freund von Martin und John, auch wenn sie alle in verschiedenen Teilen Europas leben. Zuerst sang John auf den Tracks, weil es nicht einfach war, einen guten Sänger für eine Band zu finden. Eines Tages fragte Martin John, was mit Zanil Zak Tataji passiert sei und schon kurz darauf war mit an Bord. Ravenstine sind eine Band mit 4 Sängern (John, Ian, Zak und Martin) mit Zak in der Hauptrolle. Er hat die perfekte Stimme für die Ravenstine Songs und Ideen.Mit Gastauftrit von Frank Blackfire (Sodom). Ravenstine sind Heavy Steam Rock mit Einflüssen von ua. Def Leppard und AC DC. On June 30, 1986, the same day that Diamanda Galás"s The Divine Punishment was released, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Georgia"s so-called sodomy law in Bowers v. Hardwick, criminalizing consensual sex between men. At the time, about 15,000 people were known to have died of AIDS in the U.S. alone, with little government acknowledgement besides suggestions to quarantine homosexuals on island colonies. By the end of 2021, the number of AIDS deaths globally would exceed 36 million. The first album in her Masque of the Red Death trilogy, The Divine Punishment is one of the most jarring works of art produced in response to the AIDS epidemic, and a milestone in Diamanda Galás"s artistry and activism. Galás uses her famous voice both as an orational instrument and as well as a physical representation of AIDS and those it afflicts.

The band at present consists of long time komrades HADES - Vocals (also from and founder of BATTLESTORM), ASURA – Guitars (also from and founder of DEUS EX MACHINA), CRYPTOR – Bass (ex-founding member of DEMISOR) and lastly DIZAZTER on Drums (also from IMPIETY/ DEPRAVITY). XUL ANTICHRISTO from INFERNAL EXECRATOR held Vocal duties at the very beginning, but had to leave after the first EP recording due to his tight schedule (work commitment). DEVOUROR defines it’s sonic wrath arrogantly as ‘Bestial Deathcult Warfare’ with late 80s/early 90s influence from Possessed, Sarcofago, Necrovore, Blasphemy, Death, Sodom. With this being said, DEVOUROR is Not a project of sorts, but a brutal 5 Beast Blackened Metal of Death Squadron that scoffs, hacks and slays the rest of mediocre rubbish that currently saturates the underground. All members are Veteran Diehards with filthy back-grounds of over 25 long years of dedication and commitment raising the old glorious flag of unholy Black Death!
