After releasing records on L.I.E.S. and its offspring Russian Torrent Versions labels, Caserta (close to Neaples, Italy) native Domenico Crisci quickly rose to prominence among purveyors of timeless Techno. A third record on Eerie cemented his reputation as a careful engineer of effective, crafty dance floor cuts that comfortably sit next to early works of the genre's pioneers. August of 2016 sees Domenico's sonic determination surprisingly rematerializing on Silent Servant, Regis and James Ruskin's Jealous God label with a new, strong EP crowning the distinct quality of this limited series. Through such particular path Domenico got inspiration to start his own SUMMA CUM LAUDE label project, where his most forward thinking works and brand new, surprising talents will have the first chance to get properly published. Domenico himself is inaugurating the label by The Violinist EP, including 3 peak-time techno tracks anticipating the strongest emotive intensities, carefully finalized by the valuable experience of a mastering engineer like Matt Colton. To visualize Domenico's particular, straightforward sound, we'll find the kind intervention of the Neapolitan artist Mariangela Levita.

Originally released via Ascetic House in 2015, Vereker's Grace tape owes much to the canon of vintage anti-music, exploring catharsis via a transgression of traditional compositional & technical values. Working with the same thematic concerns of much of the more leftfield additions to the Avian catalogue - in it's more subdued moments, anxiety & dissafection; in it's more high energy - pure hysteria - the recording pairs basic synthesis with warped vocals in the same manner as Industrial progenitors Throbbing Gristle and Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound).
The reduced palette & crushed production aesthetic creates a powerful immediacy, with a twisted musicality being drawn - at times, kicking and screaming, out of the depths of the mix. Like much of Vereker's best work on labels like LIES & Berceuse Heroique, elements warp & twist uncomfortably within the tight confines of a reduced dynamic spectrum - creating a dark, heady energy.

Following the latest Avian release as Sigha, James Shaw now unveils his Faugust project with a 10" title on the Avian sub-label - Mira. Emotive and highly personal, Devotions (1984 - 2006) shows a side of Shaw's sound that has been largely buried since 2004, combining his experience as a guitarist with many of the sonic approaches that characterise his best known music today. Over the course of four tracks it layers pulsating bass and synth lines with melodic flourishes and a pop sensibility not seen in his other work. As per previous Mira releases, the artwork is done by Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant.

Revealed last year as a side project by UK producer Shifted, Covered In Sand now returns with a new EP: Crescent Shaped Scars will be released on the sister label of his own Avian imprint Mira, which serves as an outlet for the more experimental and duskier side of electronic music.
The release features three abrasive noise workouts. Thud of drums and ritualistic rhythms define the opener Luarica on the A-side alongside a near-melodic whine that stays present throughout the tracks. Orapa (An Interview) on the flip swallows and evokes scuffed voices of a conversation, striving into isolation, while Venetia resumes the haunting rhythm and layers of distortion.

Truncheon Cadence comes as a split EP with part one released mid-January and part two following shortly after. Both of these 10 inches feature four sizzling, propulsive workouts with a dry, precise minimalism, characteristic of Donadio's previous productions.

The album follows hot on the heels of outstanding stand alone single 'Run Away' released on Ample Play Records last month. The KVB is the audio/visual project of London youngsters Nicholas Wood & Kat Day, who combine reverb heavy wall of sound guitars, minimal haunting strings and grinding bass synths, messed up motorik drum machine beats and delay drenched vocals with a backdrop of imagery to accompany the symphony, that's nothing short of life affirming. 'Minus One' is in fact The KVB's third album, their second full length LP 'Immaterial Visions' which came with an accompanying remix EP, featuring mixes from underground techno pioneers Regis and Silent Servant was only released in February this year. The KVB is a group with a sense of urgency about it, to do what they need to do, with full commitment and without delay. It's a tangible attitude that runs throughout 'Minus One'.
