The third release in Danse Club's Black Series is a collaborative effort between Dutch tech house hero Lauhaus and countryman Rik Woldring with a standout remix from Boris Werner. Lauhaus has long been at the heart of the underground electronic music scene, releasing on go-to imprints like 100% Pure and Area remote as well as his own Soweso and We Dig. labels, whilst Rik Woldring is very much a talent on the rise who has impressed in Amsterdam with his unique after hours DJ sets. Together the pair crafts some infectious and charismatic grooves that fit perfectly with the increasingly essential Danse Club . Opening track 'Context' is a tight arrangement of looping bass, silky and silvery percussion and myriad sonic effects that create intrigue from start to finish. It's the sort of thing that makes you sweat on the floor but has enough detail to keep your mind occupied, too. Boris Werner, another stalwart of the Dutch tech scene, turns in a superb mix of 'Context'. His remix is deeper and more stripped back, with bobbling drums and perfect claps driving the thing along. Subtle pads warm things through and shadowy voices bring a sense of light night mischief to proceedings. Lauhaus & Rik Woldring then turn in 'Aint No Time', a liquid bit of shape shifting tech house funk that is rich with colourful melodies and well placed spoken word musings. It's music for the floor that is fun as well as functional and last track 'Spearmint' is just the same. This ones a bit tougher and more taught with rubbery synth and basslines wrapping round each other for 9 heady minutes as delightful synth patterns slowly smear and spread in the skies up top. Another cultured release from the Danse Club label that proves tech house, when done well, is still a hugely rewarding genre.

Rick Lenoir and Larry Thompson aka Black Traxx dropped several volumes of their own brand of chopped up Disco sampling, deeper side of House. From 1991 through to 1994 the Black Traxx EP's were showing up in record stores, obviously giving respectful nods to other Chicago DJ's and producers the tracks included on the EP's contained a DIY spirit and rawness that were key ingredients. Lenoir, with the technical assistance of Gary 'Jackmaster' Wallace has revisited these classic releases for 2017 and the pair have turned in some special, exclusive extended versions of some of the highlights from the series.

Kicking off the first Black Traxx sampler is 'Climaxx', a stripped back, slow burning acid cut with more than a similarity to 'French Kiss' complete with ultra slowed down section in the middle. Far from a copycat, 'Climaxx' is it's own beast, a truly atmospheric track that tweaks in all the right places! 'Doctor's Housecall' is up next, a cut-up of Disco burner 'Doctor Love', a Chicago staple for sure. This is a brand new extended version of this jam, serious heat on this one, you all know the sample by now! Undoubtedly a nod to the legendary Ron Hardy and his mythical Muzic Box club, this one hits the spot.

On side-B we get a new version of 'Your Mind Is So Crazy' lifted off Volume III, this one's a pumping, breakbeat laced party starter. Vocal samples, synths and swinging drums all collide to form a real peak-time monster of a track, pure 90's style runnings! 'Retrospace' is the last track on sampler 1, it's a melding of Chicago House, breakbeat and bleeps. If you dig the sounds that emanated from Sheffield way back when, or the you're into the early hardcore sound pre-Jungle then this is the cut for you. Fast paced and funky, 'Retrospace' is a real hidden gem of a track, featured here in it's original form lifted from volume II.

This reissue has been realised with the full involvement of Rick Lenoir and Gary Wallace and is 100% legit! All exclusive extended edits have been made by Rick and Gary specifically for this release. Don't snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting House heads record bag or DJ set, classic material made available again for 2017 - You can't stop it!

This instalment follows on from our acclaimed 'Volume One' - Lauren Laverne's 'Compilation Of The Week', supported by the likes of Disclosure, Jeremy Underground, Horsemeat Disco, Hunee and Laurent Garnier. 'Volume Two' picks up where the last one left off — with a touch more soul and disco — records we've been spinning in our DJ sets and on the radio show of the same name, that inspired this series.

We opened a new record shop in the centre of Brighton late in 2016 - 13 years after the mighty London store closed it's door. Now situated on the ground floor of our Gloucester Yard home the shop is open every Saturday to sell records that we love, some of which you'll hear on the radio shows, and on this album.

It's been a resounding success and we've been able to host sunny instore events and Facebook Live broadcasts with guests including Nick The Record, Dimensions Festival family Debora Ipekel, Flamingods, Slugabed, The Physics House Band and Remi Kolawole & Sensible J.

In 2017 and beyond, we will be releasing more of our official reissues including lesser-known essentials from Brazil, such as Gal Costa's 'India', Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti, Burnier & Cartier alongside 1980's Mexican psychedelia from Luis Perez. We've been digging deep, and will share another edition of our 'The Original Sound of...' series, this time across the border from Mali to neighbouring Burkina Faso. As ever, you'll hear these first, on our radio shows.

This, the second sampler of Black Traxx cuts culled from the various volumes picks up nicely where part 1 left us off. If it's that raw, deep, basement Chicago House sound you're after then these guys have you covered. Kicking off with the 1993 remix of 'Dreamin' which is a sublime late night organ driven groover, this one ticks all the boxes if you dig that NY / NJ Garage sound, but with a Chi-town twist! 'Soul' is up next, lifted from 1993's 'The Soul Package' collection. A stripped back, vocal led jam steeped in atmosphere. This one is for the dancers for sure, no nonsense House music for heads and hips.
Flip it over and the B-side opens with 'Shake', a tough, gritty, percolating banger with a tribal-esque edge. This one's a weapon and almost fits into that Baltimore / Chicago 'ghetto House' mould. A proper club track, no prisoners taken. This one has been gently extended by Rick and Gary for maximum club pressure! EP finisher 'Party' is a much more subdued groove giving a respectful nod to the JB's with that infamous 'Paaaarty' chant. No frills in the best possible way this one's another solid club groove, pure food for hungry turntables and sound-systems. All of the tracks included on these samplers have been carefully selected, arranged, edited and extended for precisely these reasons!

With 3 albums and many ep's on labels like Bedrock, Cocoon Harthouse, Virgo etc to name the essential, Electric Rescue has proved since his debut, 25 years ago, his experience and skills as a confirmed artist in the techno scene.With this new release, 'Melancholic enchantment' Electric Rescue is bringing you to a mindtrip excursions.
Melancholic enchantment & Pavdo, enchant you and carry away in a hypnotic furrow, full of moody and atmospheric sounds. "Subway", in a harder style than the previous ones, with his saturated dub chords mixed with chattered hihat, is an unstoppable hit for big rooms that smiled to make its effect.
And what an honor to entrust to the excellent French producer, Marcelus, to remix PAVDO.
This prominent producer has already appeared on labels like Deeply Rooted, Tresor or Singular Records his label. Also resident for the Tresor in Berlin, Marcelus is a complete artist, excellent DJ, he is also a genie producer with a unique Paw , that you can find in this Pavdo remix.
It takes t he original in deeper and mental regions, with Bell textures and jumbled perc sounding like a ghost train in action. It's definitely a peak time weapon designed for plenty of destruction.

Memoryman aka Uovo gives us some deep-disco vibes with rolling rhythmic beds and hip shaking grooves.

Wound Music delivers it in 12', with three original tracks (B1 originally released on Defected Records) with heady 90s remix by Voodoo Effect.

Constant Variables third release comes courtesy of Sven von Thülen AKA s:vt, who's slowly been making a name for himself with records on Work Them, Myth Music and, recently, Dred. On Club Variables Part 1' he delivers three no-nonsense techno workouts, aimed squarely at the dance floor. Work!

Joining the Unknown Precept forces are C.G.I. Records' label head Matthew Wei- ner teaming up with Christopher Daresta as Pyramid Club. Being known for their T.W.I.N.S. and Anticipation solo activities, Cyclic Obsession comes as the debut re- lease of the four-handed formation taking its name from the eponymous venue which helped define the counterculture and queer sound of lower Manhattan in the late 70's. Recorded in their stronghold of Atlanta following a handful of tracks released via the jointly-operated D.K.A. Records, it shows the duo taking over primitive body music in its most physical and psychedelic dimension. Thick as a brick bass lines for the basement turmoil — reflecting the hazy vortex smoldering out of an ill-lighted nightclub. Think of spasmodic synth-driven tunes interspersed by convulsive vocals and throbbing snares, in which one could see the whites of the dancers' eyes right before the lights turn back on.

RELEASE

'The Practice of Pseudoscience', a three track EP by M Parent, is the second vinyl release from the US based label Chem Club Records. Having been inspired by peripheral thoughts about pseudosciences, this EP is washed in steady emotional build ups using airy reverb, scattering percussion, throbbing stabs and solid kicks. The title track (A1) uses these elements to move towards a piercing synth peak while 'Cycle of Intellect' (A2) spaces out these features as it creeps to a dubby impactful end. The B side 'Temazcal Rites' was directly motivated by a scorching summer day when the intensity of the sun sparked an idea for a sizzling percussive experiment. What we're left with is a funky but emotive soundscape that tops off the EP in a unique fashion.


ARTIST

M Parent, the artist behind Chem Club's second vinyl release entitled 'The Practice of Pseudoscience', is a Brooklyn based animator who uses his background in this story-driven medium to further express himself musically. His storyline approach to producing makes for an attentive listening experience full of arcs and plot twists that still maintains it's focus on the dancefloor. Using hardware exclusively, M Parent's aim is to produce emotive tracks that exist somewhere between a continuously evolving song and a fully functional track. M Parent DJs regularly at Bossa Nova Civic Club in Brooklyn and has a monthly residency at Jupiter Disco called Modal Form with fellow Blankstairs artist, Nathaniel Young.

Cosmic Club 17's in the house, and for this one Skylax have delved deep into the mystic universe of the ultra prolific photonz with a four track EP quite simply out of this dimension ! Photonz is the artist name of Marco Rodrigues, a London-based DJ and producer who's been championing the new sound of Portuguese house and techno worldwide since the early 2000s. He has done tracks for various labels such as crème organization, unknown to the unknown, hot haus, the "cult" dissident and many more. His first cut "memories of burma" that gave the title to the ep is an infinite groove that builds and builds with arabic synths, a perfect crossover between balearic & old school jackin house. "Baronrevxp" & "agape" moves into the same territories with some sharp clap, hi hats and some big retro vintage sounds. While "stealth predator" catches him at his most experimental, upping the tempo and unleashing an ambitious techno juke roller, think about drexcya, 1990s techno, Plink Plonk and you're not even close ! Photonz music sounds extremely big for the big rooms, and still very large indeed for the smaller ones.His music is praised by The Chemical Brothers, Jackmaster, Optimo, Ivan Smagghe, Daniel Avery, James Holden, Ewan Pearson, Auntie Flo, Tim Sweeney, just to name a few. 'Memories of Burma' EP is not just a cosmic experience, but a voyage into the realms of a producer in a world of his own. Must have. Essential item. SKYLAX RECORDS 4 EVER !

Miami's DJ Club 1235 drops 5 club BOMB's on House Crime. Stripped back ghetto houz jack at it's most defined!

"Black Earth" ist ein Album der Meisterklasse. Ein Soundtrack für den Film im Kopf, der beim Hören entsteht. Doch am besten passt wohl das Bild einer Stadt in der Nacht. Man fährt langsam durch die Straßen und schaut sich die Bars, die Menschen und die Häuserfassaden an. Es sind surrealistische Bilder, die im Kopf entstehen. ...Already Used merges his moody, groovy production skills & songwriting for a record who's meaning extends far beyond the club. Deep Club resident's "Marta" has been one of the most talked about tracks on the massive Gays Hate Techno 2.0 comp.

The first instalment in our new 'Mr Bongo Record Club' compilation series - a selection of favourites, recent discoveries and sought after obscurities, which form the basis of our DJ sets and our radio show of the same name. Including cuts by Claudia, Cortex, Dave Pike Set, Fruko, Neno Exporta Som, Connie Laverne, Barbosa and more. The original concept for 'Mr Bongo Record Club' was a radio show that allowed us to air our treasured record collections, recorded and broadcast once a
month. We wanted to create an outlet free from any genre or BPM restrictions, not constrained by the need to beat-mix every record, a space where we could play latest finds alongside favourites. The only self-imposed rule being that
it had to be played from vinyl. We have always DJ'd across-the-board, but playing in an eclectic way hasn't
always been easy. Recently DJ's such as MCDE, Floating Points, Nick The Record, Leon Vynehall, Four Tet, Jeremy Underground, Antal (Rush Hour), Sassy J and Young Marco - to name a few - have opened things up with very diverse sets to
younger audiences; Brazilian samba-rock, next to modern soul, highlife, disco, boogie, jazz, house, techno and beyond.  
We're seeing a rare groove like sensibility. A shift towards the attitude of legendary club nights hosted by the likes of Mr Scruff and Gilles Peterson, where you could hear house, hip hop, Turkish funk, boogie, jazz, dub and Latin
back to back. At the same time it isn't a nostalgic or retro movement, people have a progressive attitude and a thirst for new-old music. It is a vibrant and exciting time - we are proud to be a part of it.

Late September marks the arrival on the second edition of Unclear Records 'A Tribute To Klang Club' featuring Move D, Fred P, Christopher Rau and label-heads Easy To Remember.
The Unclear Records imprint has carved out quite the reputation over the past few years with an already impressive back catalogue featuring material from Juju + Jordash, Rick Wade, Gigi Masin and Gerry Read. Here thought we see the welcome return of the labels 'A Tribute To Klang Club' series with its second contribution, following the inaugural various artists package that boasted material from Baby Ford, Roman Fluegel and more.
Move D opens with 'Rise!' and delivers a typically brooding, hypnotic number before Fred P follows up with 'Lush Life' laying down raw acidic bass and ethereal pads alongside shuffled rhythms. On the flip Christopher Rau's 'Unclear Joint' ups the energy levels via weighty drums and intricate use of string, bass and vocal samples before label-heads Easy To Remember round off the package with 'I Don't Know' a stripped back house cut led by sparse percussion, jazzy synth licks and soft pads.

Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. The original Buena Vista Social Club album became a surprise international best seller and the most successful album in the history of Cuban music.

It was recorded for World Circuit Records by Ry Cooder over seven days in Havana in 1996,

bringing together many of the great names of the golden age of Cuban music in the 1950s, several of whom were coaxed out of retirement for the sessions.

In the years that followed the original release, Buena Vista veterans toured the world and were the subject of a celebrated feature film directed by Wim Wenders.

Hailing from Berlin, but spiritually from Chi-town, Snuff Crew are back in your area with some freshly served up basement goodies once again. Following on from Basement Jams #1, from all the way back in 2011, the boys bring us tracks with the same playful nature as before but, dare I say it, they go even harder this time. Stalwart fans of the first release can stop reading now because it will almost certainly be a blind-buy for you; four tracks obviously engineered for use in the club, whether its the massive kick in 'What It Is' or the ravey acid lead in '88cents'. The jams on the B-side may do the most damage. 'Remember' holds absolutely nothing back, with its arpeggiated bassline lead and crisper than crisp 909 drum programming. Analog is a term that gets bandied about all the time nowadays, ever since so many young producers became enamoured with tape compression and hiss delay plug-ins. I know Snuff Crew are real analog guys though, in sound and mentality, so hearing Basement Jams #2 for the first time had me so excited once again.

For this 14th release, we give you the opportunity to grab 6 fantastic trax done by one of today's hotest producer from germany : ANDREAS GEHM aka ELEC PT1.After a bunch of releases on MATHEMATICS, BUNKER, CHIWAX, SNUFF TRAX, he sent us his brand new tracks & we felt it was so good that we decided to release them straight !His sound is firmly rooted in proto-house and acid. Among a thousand projects, Para One is back on the dance floor with 'Club", a new album which was not meant to be one, but believe it or not: it's serious stuff! 'The 'Passion' album is the background for this, as I decided to reshape it for my live act, explains Para One. I've rebuilt the tracks entirely, making live versions for festivals and bigger clubs. Then I found myself with a totally different album. It's not a live album. The tracks have been modified and reinterpreted. It's my tribute to Soulwax's 'Night Versions". Subtlety was not really an option, it had to hit kind of hard. The tracks had to sound real in a club situation and people are now meant to dance to them! It's also a 'treasure hunt' kind of record with many references. It sounds like my DJ sets, when I mix many things and styles, old and new, because that's how a club should sound. It's a place where memories belong.' The pop, melancholic and highly danceable 'Passion", was meant to be listened to at home or on quiet dance floors, but 'Club' only retains the melodies and vocal hooks. It smells like sweat, joy and abandoned bodies. Packed with English acid house piano, huge beats, elegiac vocals, references to UK Garage, EDM filtered french touch and house, 'Club' dives into the heart of dance music. It's a 3.0 rave emblem, a daring record to make people dance without selling out.

Repress

Once again Danse Club Records have unearthed a forgotten and sorely overlooked house track here, then they have enlisted a fine pair of contemporary producers - Sqim and Deepchild - to remix it and bring it right up to date. The original, 'Who's Dick Is This' is a 1994 kicking house bomb by the mysterious Princess Di, who released but three EPs during the 90s on Music Station with this track being the pick of the bunch. German producer Sqim is associated with labels like Exploited and Play It Down and firstly offers up a Ghetto Mix of the track. The result is a big and physical house track with sleazy samples, heavyweight drums and a kinetic energy throughout The warm up mix by the same man is a much deeper affair, as you'd expect from the name. This one resides in a much warmer and more inviting groove and is coloured with deft synths as it slowly builds in phases. The elastic vocals dart about above the drums, bringing with them a lively sense of soul and funk before Deepchild offers his own two unique versions.From quirky, stripped-back techno injected with soul to deep, dub-inflected excursions, Berlin based Australian Deepchild can do it all. Here he offers his 'Cockumentary Retug' a ragged and raging techno version riddled with spoken word samples culled from a documentary about penis size. Its dark and involving and sure will get great reactions on the floor. The final version is a straight dub that journeys in a heavy groove, has some weird spoken word snippets melted into it and is lit up with some celestial synth patterns in the latter half.

All killer no filler on the new Legendary Sound Research release! We've got a split double A-side EP from The Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club and head researcher of the label, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra.

SPDSC's 'Nightdriving' sounds like the soundtrack to an early 80s exploitation movie featuring crazy driving stunts! JKriv, of Deep & Disco fame, flips the track into a mid tempo piano driven stomper adding even more action to the scenes.

On the flip side, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's 'Love Triangle Theme' is the actual soundtrack to the opening scene of the short horror film 'Matasari'. The track is moody and tensed but somehow liberating with its groovyness. Taking care of remix duties is analog veteran Ruf Dug. Brodanse´s 'Danse Club Records' returns with another 90`s New Jersey gem reworked for 2013 with remix duties this time going to Just Be, Lula Circus & Chubby Dubz ... Danse Club Records, the label started by DJ/production sibling duo Brodanse has made a sterling start so far with releases of classic 90`s US house cuts remixed by the likes of Matt Tolfrey, Oliver $, Moodymanc & Brodanse themselves.

The reaction has been outstanding at a time where there is an obvious embracing of all things nineties and DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Maxxi Soundsytem, Seth Troxler, Huxley & Dusky have been queuing up to lend their backing. For their latest release Danse Club look once again to New Jerseys historic shores, this time picking up an old record from US soul house duo The Burrell Brothers and drafting in three hot production acts to rework this much loved tune.
To start the package we have the original "club dub" version, giving an insight into the records history with it`s mid nineties feel and production still standing up wonderfully.

The first of the remixes sees Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical artist Just Be AKA Matthew Bushwaka deliver his"Insomniac mix",
a bumping slice of underground house music that marries a bass driven groove, organic percussion and subtle melodic elements with snippets of the vocal to supreme effect.

Next up we have Italian production duo Lula Circus whose releases for the likes of Culprit and Noir have been creating quite a stir. Here they deliver a brilliant rework of "Non Stop" in the shape of a deep old school house workout that makes the most of the soulful vocals with its simplistic, hypnotic backing. With its timeless quality, this mix is certain to be mainstay in DJ boxes for months and years to come.

The penultimate version sees the excellent Chubby Dubz offer up an outstanding mix that cuts and pastes the original parts in a raw house style. Closing the package there is a bonus dub of Just Be`s Insomniac mix that rounds things off nicely. This is another winning package from the Danse-Club label and with original artist material from Brodanse in the pipeline alongside further remix packages there is much to look forward to.

i met kirill from spdsc last year at a festival in bucharest called "poolside" and instantly became friends. to be honest i wasnt really aware of his productions at that time but in the end who do i know anyway so one of the first things while keeping in touch was him sending me the demo of "i need it" which he produced with his friend lipelis. instantly i fell in love with this tune and asked if its available to sign for teardrop. it was. and here we go, a few months later with remixes by myself lovebirds and mr iron curtis under his new moniker leaves from the western hemisphere and arsenii and vougal from the eastern!
