Dublin based artist Rustal aka Peter Sweeney brings his trademark deep, focused, dancefloor passion to New York’s finest Techno label.
Three original tracks created in one take performances at BlackCat Recordings, NY during the summer of 2024 are complimented by a contemporary dub reggae outing with label boss Jack Russell & the label artist Sonuga.
‘The Path’ signifies Rustal’s clarity of vision and intense focus, for creating groovy, soulful yet powerful dancefloor music and firmly establishes him as Ireland's most important Dub Techno artist.

Coming from Ireland, Rustal spent a few years in Melbourne Australia. Here he became a regular customer of Bounce Audio record store from whom Short Black was born. This 12", 140g black vinyl packs 3 tunes. Two original productions from Rustal and a jaw dropping remix of Privilege by Brendon Moeller aka Beat Pharmacy & Echologist. The original title track Privilege is a showcase of Rustal's production style. Instantly enganging and driving techno with echoed vocals and rhythmical textures. Forwards Backwards Down takes on a more dubby, pounding route. Lush synth chords carries the track throughout with a slamming kickdrum and percussive textures. Brendon Moeller joins the Short Black label with a dubbed out take on Privilege. Big sub bass with interesting sounds throughout taking you on trip to a place far away. The latest record from Delinquent Delivery sees label-head Stephen Mahoney round up five of Dublin’s most prolific producers. Stuey Lyons, Jon Hussey, Jack Jennings, Stephen Mahoney & Rustal have contributed to Stretching Ohms, the fifth release on Delinquent Delivery. Dancefloor directed techno at its finest.

Stuey Lyøns & Jon Hussey have teamed up for A1, a straight-shooting dancefloor oriented techno work. With over forty years of experience between them,Lyøns & Hussey’s expertise is put to work on A1. Dark, pensive and groove-oriented, A1 never deviates too far from its source, making it a useful techno tool for any DJ’s arsenal.

Jack Jennings contribution on A2 is another dancefloor directed number, featuring a dissonant lead married with a swinging percussive section which creates an infectious groove. Jennings’ production style would be synonymous with dark, late night sets, such as those by Marcel Dettmann or Chris Liebling.

Mahoney’s input to Stretching Ohms is B1, a commanding techno banger. Mahoney’s production style is similar to his DJ sets, delicately blending subtle elements throughout B1 while never losing focus of the main driving components. B1’s direct approach makes it perfect for late night sets.

Rustal rounds the record off with B2, a groovy roller which echoes Detroit through and through. Chiming in as the fastest track on the record, Rustal effortlessly balances a funky bassline with a compelling lead, reminiscent of the Belleville Three’s earlier work. B2 marks the end of Stretching Ohms, continuing on the energetic path set out before.

Stretching Ohms delivers high-octane dancefloor driven bangers of the highest quality. Each track differs in style, but combined they all have similar DNA – they’re all made in Dublin. This release highlights the talent that Ireland has to offer to techno globally.

Stuey’s in depth cultural awareness of Techno cultivated this driving
nightmaker that has been recognised as a festival anthem receiving
great acclaim long before its release date. Rustal delivers a broken set
breaker that morphs and progresses to aid any DJ in the depths of a
long haul set. This track has more than delivered and offers new insight
with every listen. Caspers upfront in your face track is an instant classic
that will rarely leave the bag. Hastings Showcases his production skills
and true sound with a rough and ready analog production that was and
easy choice for the labels final cut. Stuey Lyons original ‘The Rift’ gets
the remix treatment from Echoplex providing a Soliel Remix throwing a
dancefloor curveball complimenting the upfront functionality of the
other tracks. Echoplex being a favourite of the label owners who have
taken great inspiration from his contribution to the scene. Working
alongside Echoplex holds great significance for the label as his
contribution reinforces the identity and culture the label portrays in all it
does.
