Emotional Rescue returns to the music of Elaine Kibaro with a special 7" single to accompany the Pour L'Amour album collection (ERC066). Here then are two bonus versions of songs from the LP with a unique Arabic recording of her "hit" Aurore and also, the previously unreleased on vinyl instrumental version of her balearic / boogie jam, Ne Doute Pas.

Having moved from Tunisia to France at the age of 13, Kibaro's duel sensibility has long been apparent in her music and performance. The early success of her debut 7" De L'autre Cote Du Miroir in 1977, was soon followed by her most 'successful' song in Aurore, first released as a 7" in 1978, before appearing again as 9 minute extended version on the 1979 Miroirs LP.

In the same year she recorded a special 7" single on the little known World Music label. Singing the lyrics in Arabic - renamed here to its true translation - much else remained the same. The music of the original, the spoken intro soon gives way to what is essentially a leftfield disco groove, with building strings, funky bass and some late archetypal 70s Euro drumming. Atop this the vocals are delivered in Kibaro's ubiquitous chanson delivery, her heartfelt singing, the congos breakdown and then chorus, as the songs builds, all lead to head-nodding smiles all round.

With this is Ne Doute Pas. A stand out from Pour L'Amour, the vocal version appeared in 1989 as a single and on the now sought after, Kiroel album. This instrumental simply let's the music shine. A Linn rise and fall bassline, soft, layered keys and mode horns are run and rerun in a catchy, incessant flow like a PWL demo. The 10 years between the 2 tracks is apparent in the instrumentation but the link between the two - Kibaro herself - is clear and worth enjoying for that.

Echocord's Echo Echo sub-label continues with its third releases this August, courtesy of German producer and Credo founder Alex Bau with his 'Zenstory' EP. Germany's Alex Bau has been a prominent name on the underground DJ circuit on his home turf, and further afield, for three decaces as well as racking up an impressive back catalogue as a recording artists for labels like Cocoon, CLR, Sleaze and of course his very own Credo label which has been a platform predominantly for his own material whilst welcoming the likes of Kyle Geiger, Takkyu Ishino and Electric Rescue onto the imprint also. Here though we see Bau joining the roster of Echocord's fledgling sub-label Echo Echo with a new four-track EP and taking the lead on the package is 'Clouds' with pulsating low-end tones, hissing analogue noise and dusty drums samples all flowing in unison with ethereal chords and sweeping pads. 'Contour' follows, tipping the focus over to bubbling delayed stab hits, fluttering sub bass and evolving white noise bursts throughout. The 'Prelude' of 'Zenstory' opens the flip side and as the name would suggest it's a cinematic build up to the title-track featuring tension-building, expansive atmospherics ahead of the original mix which features a thumping muted kick, stuttering atmospheric echoes and spoken word vocal tucked into the depths of the record.

Etruria Beat welcome again the berlinian Dj Oliver Deutschmann! He was already featured on the label with his remix of Dast's 'Architect'. Now he offers two original tracks with a defined and aggressive sound, backed by two huge remixes from Etruria label boss Luca Agnelli and from french Techno stalwart Electric Rescue. Get ready to blow up some dance floors with those 4 hard hitting monsters. The EP opens with Agnelli's remix of Resist", this track is a muscular and stomping. He catches the originals mood and transforms it into a spectacular version that will leave the dance floor in ashes. BIG! The original version of 'Resist' it's a funky and driving technostomper with house chords that creates an obsessive and powerful rhythm, accompanied with a hypnotic vocal saying 'Resist' in132bpm! The B side continues with the original version of 'Hope' which got a melody in the best Detroit tradition and powerful 808 drums. A stripped dark atmosphere ensure a breathless pace, to the final second. Finally, Electric Rescue morphs this one into a powerful loopy journey, A synth hellfire as it's best. Gatupreto, enigmatic duo, hiding their identity while exploring the common ground between an idealized African feeling and the classic references of the dance movement from the 80's and 90's. The art Gatupreto generates is simple, unpretentious and sincere, it owes to the classic rave vibe as much as to the rawness of hip hop.. as much to the sunset of Cape Verde as to the sunrise of the Lisbon riverside.
Gatupreto is a binomial entity that refers to itself as one, it was rescued from anonymity by TINK! Music, newly founded label split between Amsterdam and Lisbon. To the extend of most people's knowledge, Gatupreto comes from a colorful Lisbon suburb where they inhabit a luxurious house, on an isolated hill where music is made every day.
Those who have seen them perform live say they are frenetic and deep in their sound. At night all cats are black.

Emotional Response starts 2015 with a 4 part split (Schleissen) series aimed at highlighting artists pushing the sonic boundaries of electronic experimentalism. Starting with ErB001, featuring Abul Mogard and Harmonious Thelonious.
Emotional Response is pleased to announce a special 4 part, split series of LPs that explores the further reaches of ambient, drone and rhythmic percussion, known here as Schleissen. To start the series is 2 artists long admired by the label. The music of Abul Mogard has stayed pretty much under the radar. Hailing from Belgrade, Serbia, retired factory worker turned drone specialist, Abul has released 2 solo and 1 joint cassette-only albums on Steve Moore and Anthony Paterra's (Zombi) VCO label. A big favourite of the label, Dizziness That Shakes Rivers And Mountains is near 19 minutes of pure, modular beauty. Play loud for full o.o.b.e effect. On the flp, a more well known name in Stefan Schwander's percussion based project, Harmonious Thelonious. First catching the label's attention with a series of drum heavy EPs before moving more towards the dance flor on his most recent releases. On a visit to play the infamous Salon Des Amatuers for the Musiccargo album launch in late 2013, Stefan kindly passed on a CDR of "more experimental pieces" and on hearing these, the idea of Schleissen was first born. 2 pieces of Steve Reich inspired minimalist explorations weld to become an incessant psychoacoustic cycle, melodically deconstructing and reconstructing to create a continuous harmonic movement. A series then created for the more discerning ear, so empty your mind and (un)listen.
