A fixture on Copenhagen's music scene for nearly two decades, Nikolaj Jakobsen, aka Sugar, has to date thrived on concentrating - usually to the point of obsession - on one type of music at a time. Early on, it was punk: from his mid-teens he lived in the legendary squat and artistic community Ungdomshuset, toured worldwide with punk and metal bands, and was completely immersed in and dedicated to the city's DIY punk and metal scene.

Then in 2012 he set foot in a techno club for the first time, and his laser-like focus turned in that direction. Jakobsen began producing fast techno under the Sugar alias, and co-founded Fast Forward Productions, an agency and party that has gathered together the city's previously disparate band of fast techno and trance producers, DJs and collectives. Fast Forward has been instrumental in launching the careers of the likes of Schacke, Repro, Funeral Future and Rune Bagge, as well as Jakobsen himself.

Now Jakobsen is launching a new label that, even down to its name, is an open challenge to himself to focus on multiple musical styles at once. Perfumery, of which the Eyes Cream EP is the inaugural release, will be a home for his productions under the Sugar name and other aliases, as well as collaborative efforts with others. The label's open remit defies definitive categorisation of is to come, but its second release will be an abstract, atmospheric album by the cimbalom and tuba player and composer Anders Bo Eriksen, aka OPICA. On that record's heels will be collaborative projects with D.Dan and HVAD, as well as an experimental-minded debut LP by Jakobsen as Sugar.

Though Perfumery will be a platform for the exploration of new musical territories, Eyes Cream comprises four fast-techno hardware jams in Jakobsen's signature style. As well as showing off his knack for punning in a second language, opener Bright Side Of The Spoon is a classic Copenhagen splicing of darkness and light, with insistent, ominous bass waves leavened by twinkling synth textures. On the surface the middle two tracks, Eyes Cream and Try Me, are harder, flintier, Detroit-referencing tools. Just beneath, however, lurks the texture and warmth that is one of Copenhagen techno's prime calling cards. Perhaps the greatest treat of the EP is saved for last: Once And For No One is a gorgeous, gauzy, end-of-the-night banger that packs a hefty emotional punch.

All proceeds from physical and digital sales of the first EP on Perfumery will go to Sea-Watch.Org, a German NGO dedicated to saving migrants trying to reach Europe on stricken vessels in the Mediterranean.

Raleigh Ritchie releases his highly anticipated second album, ANDY. A twelve track project, Andy sees Bristol born and London-hailing Raleigh holding a colossal magnifying glass to himself. Over the production, for the most part, from long-term collaborator Chris Loco but also, the incredibly talented GRADES on “Time In A Tree” and “27 Club”, Raleigh leaves no stone unturned. The album is a creation of heartbreakingly honest songs that seamlessly fuses sweeping soul and mellow R&B with forward-thinking electronica and gutsy orchestral moments. (Raleigh has become well known for working with the sensational Rosie Danvers and Wired Strings.) This is a truly powerful record, a long-awaited return that packs a poignant punch.

It has been four years since Raleigh aka Jacob Anderson, released his inaugural debut album You’re A Man Now Boy but fans have not been left wanting. When he wasn’t releasing music, performing at his sold out show at Shepherds Bush Empire, or alongside Stormzy in his iconic Glastonbury headline, featuring on Gang Signs & Prayer, Stormzy’s critically acclaimed debut, or acting as Grey Worm in the hit HBO series Game Of Thrones, he was and is “Andy”.

Soul Intent delivers his second studio album, this time on Dope Plates, the 90s influenced sub-label for his Lossless Music imprint.

"Everything And Nothing" sees Soul Intent reach back 25 years to the sounds and vibes that soundtracked his teenage years in the mid 90s. It was this period when he first discovered rave and jungle through his brothers CD collection, MTV's Party Zone and Dreamscape tape packs, which were being passed around at school.

Some of the track names refer to memories from this era including "Standard Deluxe" (a long since defunct skate/surf clothing brand) and "Tribal Gathering" - the legendary 1993 rave put on by event organisers Universe.

This album was released in 2017 as free download packs with the band encouraging fans to create their own physical copies with provided templates.

Unglued’s reputation for producing serious bassweight across the D+B spectrum continues in 2020 with his ‘Zen’ EP. He spans through silky smooth sounds on ‘Zen’ ft. Cimone, bouncy funk on ‘Mic Strangler’ with the legendary MC GQ, sharp-edged grizzle on GLXY collaboration ‘Algorithm’, and tearout heat on the soundsystem slayer ‘Datafile’. Setting things in motion is the lyrical weapon ‘Mic Strangler’, with OG host and MC extraordinaire GQ, who’s spent three decades leading the game. Unglued deals out damage on the beat with MC GQ’s playful twists, wrapped up in a big bruiser of a bassline.

Title track ‘Zen’ is a mesmeric stream of atmospherics, rolled out in perfect tandem with the angelic vocals of rising singer/songwriter, Cimone. GLXY joins the fold for ‘Algorithm’ - a techy rattler that’s stripped back in design but packs a punch. Rounding off the EP is the darkest addition, ‘Datafile’, Unglued takes no prisoners as he unleashes this lethal stepper. Unglued has had a steep and steady rise in drum & bass after signing to Hospital Records and releasing his sought after solo material, as well as his iconic remix of High Contrast’s anthem ‘If We Ever’.

This infamous rewiring caught the attention of major players, from Andy C to Annie Mac - who also selected his track ‘Born In ‘94’ as her Hottest Record in 2019 on BBC Radio 1. Unglued’s jungle knowledge has him in regular international demand, in 2019 alone he tore up sets at Glastonbury, Rampage, Boomtown, Let It Roll, ADE and on Med School’s final tour across Australia and New Zealand. He’s showing no signs of slowing down in 2020 with back-to-back bookings, including support at Wilkinson’s London headline show, Kings Of The Rollers’ Printworks Royal Rumble showdown and Hospitality On The Beach 2020.

Taking influences from underground spaces and dark clubs, the GOBSMACKED! 12” series kicks off with a bang, dropping a five track vinyl from Diarmaid O Meara. The Irish producer describes himself as “trying to push the boundaries of electronic noise” and he couldn’t be more right. It’s just 30 minutes long and hugely pulsing, but packs more punch than a gym full of heavyweight boxers. “While working on new tracks in the studio, I’m always trying to create my own personal rave, and when I find myself in the middle of a dark and twisted sound, then I know I’m on to something,” he says of the creative process in his Berlin bunker studio.

The 12” includes a number of previously released digital singles by Diarmaid O Meara, which have been his chart topping and most widely played tracks, that have not yet made it onto black gold until this point. Featured as multiple Beatport number ones, peak time festival big room sounds, countless Boiler Room recordings, the 12” is a collection of club belters, tried and tested over countless sound systems and DJs.

At Diarmaid O Meara’s touch in the studio, the technotic sounds released from his control become alive, while dark vibes take a stormy ride through intense rhythms. Track titles like ‘Selfish Bass’ convey the vibe of music that chews up and spits out razor-sharp techno and rave fusions that race to tempos upwards of 140BPM. There are playful techno tracks like ‘In Your Head’ next to euphoric rave ups like ‘Live In The Night’ and bass contortions like ‘Ripcord’ that are masterfully concise but utterly devastating. Not to mention the ever hypnotic, chugging sounds meets massive crescendo of ‘Improbable Strip’.

“Whenever something crazy emerges through a rig, enough for you to you hear people screaming in ecstasy, and you know the production has delivered”, he says. And it is exactly this momentum that GOBSMACKED! wants to deliver – it sounds loud and obnoxious but also fun that draws on real appreciation for dancefloor destruction as well as countless hours of studio work. Therefore, it is no surprise that the artwork for the series also features the style of the well known Gobsmacked bunker parties run in Berlin venues like the infamous Griessmuehle, where said music has probably been overplayed to crowds with goldfish length memories. .

UNCAGE label is back with a bang thanks to a various artists release featuring Stojche, Luca La Rocca, Eric Axelsson, Vincenzo Maurice and Module One.

Macedonian rebel Stojche is first up with his pummelling drum programming and sleek synths peeling off a high tempo groove.
It is dubbed out and propulsive techno of the highest order.
Luca La Rocca - Focus is darker and more stripped back, an eerie final cut that packs a real punch, then Eric Axelsson offers a deep atmosphere with icy electronics dancing above rooted kicks that get you in a trance.

After a twitchy acid banger from Vincenzo Maurice is a digital only cut from Module One that is cavernous, mysterious and hypnotic. This is another high impact techno Ep from the ever reliable 'UNCAGE'.

After two compilations and a split EP, Oscillate Tracks present their first solo EP. Having played dynamic DJ performances at Oscillate events as well as releasing top-notch productions on Livity Sound and Man Band, Toma Kami seemed the perfect fit. With 3 tracks of percussive body music, sharp rhythms and precise arrangements which build to hard-drum energies as well as a confidently layered and commanding remix from atmospheric techno icon Forest Drive
West, this EP packs a patient yet satisfying punch.

Vinyl only. New Continue Records emerge from the mists of the unknown with an EP wrapped in sorcery and stardust by the not so new Romanian producer Stoi. Insular EP represents travel through a portal between underworld and overworld with one extended track on each side. A-side packs a haunting 4x4 journey. B-side with a darker hypnotic stepper.

When two dudes collide in a cosmic paradise, very special things happen. Black Spuma, otherwise known as regular transcendental misfits Phillip Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella, come correct with a new EP of enchanted grooves for Futureboogie.
Breaking their run of EPs for the International Feel Recordings label, a trio of cuts are lined up on the ‘Crunch Level’ EP.

Beginning a new series of Remix Packs, in which favorite artists and label affiliates are remixing tracks from different Malka Tuti back-catalogue releases. The first one includes Toulouse Low Trax and Die Orangen remixing Xen & Yovav’s critically acclaimed 7” release from 2018, as well as 2 remixes of the Tel Aviv duo Plazmot by Benedikt Frey & Borusiade. All Tracks were mixed by Gordon Pohl. This record will also be the first to present Malka Tuti’s brand new specially designed generic record sleeves.

This record contains two stone cold classics from the rave era. If you bought any tape packs or went to any raves in 1992, these are the two staple tracks most DJs would draw upon to keep the energy levels high.


On top of that, they are written by the rave overlord – Ellis Dee. Basically, the go to guy for any promoter that wanted their rave to be up there in the top tier.
These tracks sound as fresh and as the day they were released. And that is why we have decided it needed to have another short run repress as its been 4 years since we first pressed this record. B1 - Glume - Shriek Time to enter the dungeon and follow our loyal conductors deep underground. Relentless is the term that comes to mind when indulging in this stone cold, yet somewhat uplifting banger. Glume’s solo piece on the EP delivers pulsating bass waves accentuated by tonal percussion lines, embedded into a horror-movie-like atmosphere.
B2 - Phossa - Deathly Stare It’s Phossa’s time to tell the tale on the third track of the vinyl, showcasing some of his signature style synth lines embedded in an ever-creeping atmosphere. Heavy standing bass walls accompany the trippy cascade of sound, ever enchanting and luring the listener deeper into the maze. Will we find our way out?

DJ Tennis's Life And Death welcomes electronic innovator Moscoman for a label debut that superbly showcases his broad array of club-ready but widescreen sounds. Moscoman is based in Berlin but brings plenty of worldly influences to his music, not least from his homeland of Israel. Next to musical explorations on his own Disco Halal label, he has served up everything from raw and rugged machine disco to melodic techno via wonky house on ESP Institute, Diynamic and I'm A Cliché. He is someone who embraces whatever takes his fancy and has a wilfully random approach to making music that results in never less than thrilling and original tracks. That is the case again here: right from the off 'Wave Rave' is an unusual but effective offering that pairs hands-in-the-air, trance-inducing chords with more reflective melodies and rugged drums. After that one packs a truly emotional punch, 'Dinner For One' is downright dirty. Wild, detuned synths spray about over 'Spastilk'-era snares and rolling drums and the whole thing works you into a lather. On the flip the mood changes again. This time, '550' is a dreamy and zoned out house track with a gorgeous and acoustic lead melody that encourages your mind to wander as you drift along in the warming groove. Last of all, 'Space Comfort' is playful number with sci-fi keys bleeping up and down the scale while harmonic keys and withering retro synth chords bring a sense of spookiness to the fore.

Bucharest Techno Traxx Vol. 1 - the new series on The Model's own imprint Adult Central. Bridging the gap between classic underground and contemporary sound, the brand new 4-track EP compiles 4 no-nonsense, banging tracks meant to move any techno floor. From pounding beats and acid sounds to dark pads and hypnotic hooks, this record packs serious power and finesse. A multi-faceted techno record that showcases the genre's multiple possibilities.

The 68th edition of the DJ-Kicks mix series is another landmark one, withexperimental producer Laurel Halo taking the reins. The American's adventurous28 track trip features seven exclusives, including two of her own plus thosefrom Rrose, Machinewoman, FIT Siegel, Nick LeoIün and Ikonika. An electronic outlier, Halo hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but has been basedin Berlin for a number of years. Landing on labels like Hyperdub, Honest Jon'sand Latency, Halo has released a body of work ranging in style, yet cohered byproduction and compositional tendencies that sound distinctly her own. Herstudio work tends to be a multi-layered mix of the electronic and theacoustic, the organic and the synthetic. As a DJ, meanwhile, she lays downmore floor focussed mixes of techno, bass and worldly drum rhythms, and herlive sets are similarly visceral and direct. Halo's DJ-kicks packs a lot in to just 60 minutes. It kicks off with the firstof two of her own exclusives, 'Public Art', a tactile piano loop that sets themelodic tone of the mix in focus. Crunchy drums soon take over and begin whatis a blistering ride through electro, trippy minimalism and textures thatrange from icy and dubby to steel plated and sharp from the likes of Red Axes,Parris and an exclusive from Rrose. Another exclusive, rough and ready cut from Machinewoman follows, before themid section twists and turns on surging drum patterns, frantic industrialtextures and spaced out gqom sounds from the likes of Griffit Vigo, DarioZenker and Final Cut. This is a mix forever on the move: one minute itstightly coiled and kinetic, the next it's loose and joyful before switchinginto more cerebral and insular passages that keep you intrigued. Fusing together so many disparate sounds and textures is no mean feat, butlike everything Halo does, here they all add up to something as thrilling andedgy as it is unpredictable and compelling.

Rounding up five years of Heist also means we're releasing our fifth version of the Round Up. Last year's edition was full of highlights with Fouk remixing Nachtbraker's anthem 'Hamdi' and Alma Negra going all tribal on Nebraska's 'Big plate chicken'. This year, we've seen a lot of new faces on the label, which has brought us a fresh set of combinations and a couple of really nice revisions of the tracks that made our year.

First up is Detroit Swindle's take on Heist's latest signing Hugo Mari. They chose to remix 'Change ur ways', beefing up the dreamy original. They focus on a simple but effective grainy groove and added a twist on the bass to give a more 'warehouse' feel to it and play around with the lovely detuned keys and vocal chops of the original to great effect.

Alma Negra show you just how loose their limbs are with a Rhodes filled version of Kassian's Acid surprise 'Bad Habit', while the full B side is dedicated to Pitto's personal take on Adryiano's classic house track 'Me and you and her'. His version takes the track into a new territory that lies somewhere between balearic and dreamhouse. Whatever it is, it's got a lovely vibe where the vocal is complemented by airy pads and a touch of acid.

Kassian on their turn, have done a great job on taking Pitto's 'Treat me like a fool' into 4x4 house territory. They've opted for a sub heavy club track where reverbed hits and the vocal take turns over a solid house groove. Next up on the C-side is Adryiano. He's picked Detroit Swindle's moody-but-heavy album track 'Cut u loose' and does what he does best: a steady and nicely distorted filtered house groove that packs quite a punch. The final track of this compilation really is a great pair of artists: Hugo Mari and Alma Negra. Hugo takes the tropical warmth of 'This is the place' and adds a subtle punch with a smart percussion loop and some added pressure on the low end.

Glasgow's Stephen Lopkin follows his fantastic album on M>O>S with The Imitator EP, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the golden era of techno. 4 tracks covering a broad range of styles from Detroit to the classic UK sound of the 90s. Denis Sulta has announced new offshoot to his Sulta Selects imprint, 'Silver Service'.The debut release comes from Cromby - an Irish born, Berlin based producer on the up. Following a thumping set at Belfast's beloved AVA Festival, his new EP will be released on 21st September and features three peak-time club weapons, inspired by the sounds of classic Chicago House. The lead Futurola is a hard-hitting, jacking house track that packs a fierce bassline and emotive punch, whilst B1, Barneymania is a Chicago-tinged acid roller that layers melodic chords, the EP ends with the dark and sci-fi-tinged electro of Fandango.

The Allergies are back with another corking new single - Dance Now is a super-sweet slice of sista funk that packs the sass to shake your ass. Honey Larochelle just wants to dance now and that's what she's gonna do with The Allergies providing the jams! Throw in some killer sax licks from brass man extraordinaire, Mr Woodnote, and it's almost impossible not to get down to this stylish selection of delectable grooves.

These guys are becoming well known for their sought-after double-header 45 records which have a knack of quickly becoming collector's items, and it's easy to see why when they pack out their single releases with quality cuts like 'Fade Away (feat. Andy Cooper)'.

It's another classic fast rap attack from the Long Beach-based MC of Ugly Duckling fame, as he spits rhymes over the 60's inspired samples and fat beats. So, something here for both the dancers and the hip hop heads in one neat little package.

Following his R&S debut, Afriqua (aka Adam Longman Parker) presents Vice/Principle, his second release for the renowned Belgian label.

Recorded in the summer of 2017, Vice/Principle began as one of Afriqua's seasonal music packs, a quarterly offering of original tracks shared privately with a small cohort of friends and collaborators. The extended EP sees Parker veering into psychedelic territory, inspired by the cosmic departures of '70s krautrock and jazz. The title, Vice/Principle, more a coy bit of humor than a philosophical statement, reflects a wittiness that Parker often embeds into even the brawniest of his productions. This offbeatness is active in the music as well, which makes use of his voice, and edges past familiar four-on-the-floor patterns with interwoven polyrhythms and modality. Vice/Principle is confident in its curiosity, harnessing a wealth of artistic threads into a tightly knit, futuristic vision.

Parker currently resides in Berlin, Germany, where he works from his home studio in the city's quiet Charlottenburg neighborhood. Born and raised in Hampton, Virginia, Parker developed his craft as a producer while studying classical piano and practicing hip-hop turntablism from a young age.

After several years developing a hefty catalog of releases, Parker has embraced his R&S signing as an opportunity to dive deeper into his signature, yet versatile sound. His successful winter 2017 tour through the U.S. was a career first, and preceded international events at Comunité in Mexico, Concrete in Paris, and The Block in Tel Aviv.

ESHU, the production collective and record label from Nijmegen are back with their next offering. Their 12th release is a various artists release that features BLM, Jburg and Steven Siwalette alongside label members Ivano Tetelepta and Jocelyn Abell. It comes on the heels of Tetelepta's absorbing dub techno album, Senang, and is another high class offering. Nijmegen based Siwalette is first, previously contributed to the label as part of SYS. His Stragglers is a sparse but atmospheric track with industrial drones and slowly turning drums taking you through a desolate factory late at night. His second offering is Alien Encounter which is just as it sounds - a spooky, unsettling bit of cinematic sound design with menacing bass and icy pads all growing in loudness until they eventually consume your mind. Lastly on the A-side, UK producer and Fear of Flying label boss BLM lays down a skeletal groove that's embellished with beautiful, yawning synths. Scattered little details and fx making this a cavernous piece that encourages your mind to wander and get lost. On the flip, Jocelyn Abell and Ivano Tetelepta cook up a heavyweight, mid tempo bit of dub techno with sharp hits and rolling kicks lulling you into a trance. Last of all, the emerging Jburg picks up the pace with a perfectly chiselled bit of rock solid dub with looping drums and icy hi hats sinking you deep into its midst. This is an excellent EP that packs in a range of fascinating sounds for both the home and the club.

Renato Cohen is one of those names that you can freely utter anywhere and it will get instant recognition, especially among seasoned Techno lovers who enjoyed his powerfully legendary tracks of yore. However, this is not the main reason why he is helming the fifth installment on Gop Tun's label. This has more to do with the relentless drive and irresistible swing that he can imprint onto any of his works, regardless of genre.

From the twilight zone of Rhythm Section International comes a new label for 2017: INTERNATIONAL BLACK. This is the offshoot's 3rd release this year and the machine shows no signs of slowing down. Bradley Zero's ear for new talent continues to pay off as we are introduced to yet another young pair of producers, Mallard & LT, going by the name of 'J DEEP'. Mallard, a 19 yo Jazz student who made a big splash with his debut RS INTL EP, 'Verte', returns with a track aimed more squarely at the dancefloor. Although hypnotic and ethereal, it packs a punch, with the arrangement and musicality belying Mallard's
musical training at Trinity College.
On the flip side, Mallard joins forces with another promising producer who goes by the name 'LT' in their collaborational partnership known as J.Deep. Complex jazz chords swim around 909's to create an elevating techno roller that climbs and climbs only to give way to sparse rave stabs and ecstatic snare patterns.
Tried and tested for the best part of a year, these are 2 serious jams, proven to cause dancefloor frenzy.

Figure Jams is back with a another fresh and exciting pairing of artists. This time the record is a collection of pure analogue goodness, sparkling ripe with synthesizer magic. The A-side comes courtesy of duo-of-the-moment TWR72, who happen to distill perfection through simplicity in their stripped-back productions. While ‚Polished' is a pulsating bit of beatless yet captivating clean-cut loops, their other contribution shows their talent at crafting something lean, dry and punchy, which is still undeniably driving and hypnotic. Picking up on the synth-heavy theme of this release is St. Petersburg's finest Aleksey Niktin aka Nocow. The release opens with 'Brian's Proper Dun One', a track which caused a Twitter meltdown on Alan's profile when he first started playing it at the tail end of 2016. Loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is an ethereal experience from start to finish and packs a real punch. It's a no holds barred, certified main room anthem. 'Wait A Second' feat. mc r1bbz has been a staple of Adam Beyer's sets of late and has been getting a lot of air time on Drumcode Radio.
This rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a real killer blow. Alan sampled the vocals of mc r1bbz from an LTJ Bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the M25.
The release closes with 'Trance, Init'; A homage to Alan's days first and foremost as a raver before he became a DJ, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through. The breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.

Fifth Interval gather together some of the most forward thinking minds in the dub techno sphere for this various artists EP. Those already acquainted with the label will be familiar with the likes of Federsen and Tomas Rubeck, who headed up the first and second releases respectively. They are joined by dub techno luminary Brendon Moller, aka Beat Pharmacy and Alessandro Crimi, for this four tracker of perfectly contrasting arrangements.
Federsen opens the proceedings with the sunset sequence of Bay Blues, cascading keys rolling through the gaps in a subtly broken drum arrangement, making for effortless and captivating listening. Beat Pharmacy contributes his first original material to the label after a brace of remixes last year. Showing true mastery of the board, chromed chord stabs are pushed and pulled around the mix in true dubwise style, drifting over a malleable bassline that packs a serious punch.
On the flip side, Tomas Rubeck crafts a tightly woven backdrop of constantly evolving, organic atmospherics and powerful drum work for IO, and this muscular workout is perfectly contrasted by the swung grooves and kaleidoscopic synthesis of Alessandro Crimi's Fractal Clouds, which closes the EP.
