Bubba Ho-Tep is a 2002 American Comedy Horror film written, co-produced, and directed by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm). It stars Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness) as Sebastian Haff, a man residing in a nursing home who claims to be the real Elvis Presley.

The film also stars Ossie Davis as Jack, a black man who claims to be John F. Kennedy. While the novella of the same name by Joe R. Lansdale and the film revolve around an ancient Egyptian mummy terrorizing a retirement home, Bubba Ho-Tep also deals with the deeper theme of aging, identity, mortality, and existentialism. The film also features a cameo by Reggie Bannister from Coscarelli's Phantasm series. Subconsciousology is a full reworking of Dot Allison's 2023's Consciousology, by producer Lomond Campbell, who, as the title suggests, has made it deeper, darker and dancier. Whereas the original album was all ornate avant-garde folk and psychedelic explorations, this new take is as hard-hitting as it is heavenly, as beat-driven as it is beautiful, and crucially it finds Dot re-embracing the electronic music with which she first made her name in One Dove. "I love that Lomond has brought a rich musicality and has created wild universes around the elements he has chosen to retain in the various songs," adds Dot. "It reminds me of working with Andrew Weatherall in a way, where the mixes were bold and reinventive departures. Named after the old district where Jesse lived during one of the most vibrant years of his life, La Pavonia EP captures the warmth, unpredictability, and deep musical curiosity that define him. Drawing from memories of joy, love, and discovery—and echoing the floral name linked to Runas' Spanish roots—the EP unfolds across four distinctive cuts.

“Crystal Swamp” opens the journey with eerie pads, buzzing synths, and a groove shaped by introspective winter days. “Body Blaster” follows with a raw, body-moving rhythm, born from a shift between Electro and Progressive moods and anchored by a punchy TX-81Z bassline. On the flip, “Warp” plays with imperfection and transformation, turning a single synth and stretched percussion sample into something strangely human. The EP closes with a remix of “Warp” by Belgian-Peruvian producer DC Salas who transforms Warp into a slow-burning, groove-heavy trip, layering thick basslines, subtle percussive shifts, and a progressive pulse. It's a hypnotic rework that keeps the original’s raw textures while opening it up for late-night floors and deeper moments.

Relay For Death is the noise project of the twin sisters Roxann and Rachal Spikula. Their hermetic works consistently reflect a bleak nihilism, all the while carving an autonomous space for survival as the rest of the existence crumbles. Previous works have been published by Hanson, No Rent, Total Black, and RRRecords.

The twins offered the consideration that "Mutual Consuming comes from a concept in the philosophies that underpin traditional Chinese medicine theory, where the two opposing states (yin and yang) are 2 states on a continuum and their interactions produce an infinite possible number of states of aggregation. Within this interplay, there is a dynamic balance that is maintained by a constant adjustment of their relative levels. So an excess of yin consumes yang and vice versa." We asked if this has anything to do with the concept of the Ouroboros, to which they responded, "we hadn't thought about Ouroboros, but the eternal cycle of things makes sense too. The gorge fest of existence." Does this relate to previous works? The twins concisely respond to that question in a rare interview in Untitled, "No."

Mutual Consuming is a dire piece of isolationist thrum, spectral caterwaul, and heavy gloom through an oblique and abstracted coupling of electronics, noise, and ominous field recordings. As immersive as Thomas Köner’s haunting ambience but fully entrenched in the industrial meditations of MB. Originally published as part of the instantly out of print boxset, On Corrosion - a 10 cassette anthology from 2019 that was housed in a handcrafted wooden box and featuring full albums from Kleistwahr, Neutral, Pinkcourtesyphone, Alice Kemp, She Spread Sorrow, G*Park, Relay For Death, Francisco Meirino, Fossil Aerosol Mining Project, and Himukalt. The collection stood as the 50th release for The Helen Scarsdale Agency.

Pluto, although not necessarily one of those bands who spring immediately to mind as having been a seminal influence on the weaving of rock music’s tapestry, remain an excellent, if little-known and much underrated band.

The band’s only album Pluto (originally released on the Dawn label back in November 1971) has, during the latter half of the ‘90s, become a much sought-after item in the ever-expanding underground/progressive sector of the record collectors’ market. Conceived
initially by guitarist Paul Gardner and taking their name from the Disney cartoon character, they were formed in North London in 1970. The key members were Gardner and Alan Warner, two highly experienced campaigners from widely disparate musical backgrounds.

The album is a nice mix of hard rock, progressive rock and blues rock elements. The song writing is pretty solid and there are no fillers included. This lone Pluto LP is easy to recommend for those who like the early 70’s hard rock bands.

That year, Cosloy's Homestead label signed Allin and released this album with the Holy Men, You Give Love a Bad Name. Featuring some of GG's best work like "Scars on My Body, Scabs on My Dick" and a cover of Charles Manson's "Garbage Dump". His second effort for Homestead was 1988's Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies, a fan favorite that introduced some of the most popular numbers in his later repertoire.

A self-taught drummer, inventor, and sonic experimentalist, Vambe is a unique figure in British music. The creator of his own instrument, the drumgita (pronounced "drum-guitar") or string-drum, Vambe intended to create a kind of music that had never been made in order to pursue access to the fourth dimension. The album plays with time, mixing hypnotic, trance-like drumgita pieces with the same segments played backwards. You can hear echoes of African drumming traditions, minimalist repetition, and tape-manipulated musique concrète - but ultimately, the album defies genre. It is a solitary voyage, spiritual and futuristic.

Reloaded, originally released in 1995, was produced by Gossard and multiple Grammy winner Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine). The album’s first single, “Dizzy,” was featured both in the film The Basketball Diaries, and on its soundtrack—sitting alongside tracks from The Doors, Soundgarden, Jim Carroll, and The Cult. CMJ New Music Monthly wrote that the “alterna-rock promise of Wonderful Virus—their debut in no way hints at the leaps and bounds by which the band seems to have grown, or the unexpected paths Reloaded follows.” Finally, 30 years later, Reloaded gets reintroduced, remastered on white vinyl and is also included on the double CD Dizzy: The Medicine Label Anthology. Its missing status on wax has been rectified, and Reloaded is ready to be loaded onto your turntable.

As part of Ace 50 BGP has hooked up with our old friends at Concord Music to reissue one of the most important albums in our story. In 1987 as the dance jazz scene morphed into acid jazz Billy Hawks ‘Oh Baby (I Believe I’m Losing You)’ was filling the dance floors where either Gilles Peterson or Baz Fe Jazz were playing.

The Prestige Records album, “Heavy Soul!”, that featured the track, was impossible to find, and frustrated DJs were desperately trying to find a copy. BGP - the Ace label that the two DJs helmed - reissued the album and put the in-demand track onto a 12 inch single. With supply sufficient it became a club smash, crossing over to become a mod classic and one of the most important cuts from our scene.

In the ensuing years the track's status has remained undimmed and the album has never turned up in significant numbers, and yet it has never been reissued since. With an attention to detail that has always been the Ace way, we have carefully mastered the record to be as close as possible to the sound of the original Van Gelder mastering of 1967, and created and accurate representation of the album and label cover art.

Hawks never lived to be rediscovered, but through our musical detective work we tracked down his brother and found out as much of his story as feasible and we also unearthed a couple of pictures. The Virginian born organist with the amazing voice was a fixture on the North-Eastern lounge bar circuit, which was the entertainment backbone off Black American music at the time, and his full story is told on the illustrated inner sleeve that comes with this release

999 were one of the true punk rock originals came together in November 1976. 999 quickly became a cornerstone of the scene in the UK, releasing their debut single ‘I’m Alive’ in July 1977.  Within a couple of years, they were touring the USA extensively, building up a significant following Stateside and earning them some action on the US Billboard Album Chart. Throughout the late 70s and early 80s, a series of classic singles alongside the albums ‘999’, ‘Separates’, ‘The Biggest Prize in Sport,’ and ‘Concrete’ kept the band’s star in the ascendancy.
‘Live at The Basins Nightclub’ recorded in June 1987 catches the band firing on all cylinders.

Das neue Album wurde von Kristin Hersh im Stable Sound Studio von Steve Rizzo in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, produziert und ist eine Sammlung von Schnipseln aus dem täglichen Leben - man denke an die Short Cuts von Raymond Carver, belauschte Gespräche, erzählte Begebenheiten und treffende Einzeiler, die alle zusammengefügt wurden, um die Zeit zu illustrieren, in dieser sie langsam heranreiften, gespickt mit dem Elan und der Kraft der Original Muses. "Drugstore Drastic" ist ein Selbstgespräch am Straßenrand auf dem Weg zu einem verlockenden Rendezvous. All diese Songs wurden an diesen beiden leuchtenden Orten geschrieben, was unserem Sounddesign half, sich selbst zu finden."

The Nicky Newarkers were a short-lived—but now legendary—soul‑dance group from Newark, New Jersey, most active in the mid‑1970s. They’re known primarily for their hard‑to‑find 45 rpm single released on Mercury Records from 1976, featuring these two songs “Woman” and “Leave Me Or Love Me” both produced by Cuban‑American Jesus Alvarez with Jerry Ross.
