Robin Pecknold brings light to the bleakest of winters with Fleet Foxes' 'A Very Lonely Solstice,' a 13-track career spanning collection recorded in December 2020, at Brooklyn, NY's St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church. Now being released for the first time on vinyl, CD and digital formats, 'A Very Lonely Solstice' captures a poignant moment in time. The recording was originally broadcasted as a live-stream event on the winter solstice of 2020, just days after New York declared a state of emergency tightening restrictions again in response to increasing COVID-19 cases. Pecknold describes the set as "me by myself on the longest night of the year... honoring the loneliness of 2020 with a nylon string and some songs new and old." Fans worldwide tuned in while quarantined at home, finding solace and a sense of community in a period of extreme isolation. Much of 'A Very Lonely Solstice' showcases a solo focus on Pecknold who offers up acoustic arrangements of fan-favorite songs spanning Fleet Foxes' catalog. Selections cover all four of the band's studio albums, including their 2008 self-titled debut album ("Tiger Mountain Peasant Song") to 2011's Helplessness Blues ("Blue Spotted Tail") and 2017's Crack-Up ("If You Need To, Keep Time On Me"), all the way to their latest release, Shore. Resistance Revival Chorus joins Pecknold on Shore tracks "Wading In Waist-High Water" and "Can I Believe You." Born in the small city of Aveiro, Portugal, DJ Yoke (Gabriel Casal) is a hip hop DJ and producer with over two decades of experience shaping the underground scene. In 2011, he was awarded Hip Hop Band of the Year in Portugal and crowned champion of the DMC Battle Supremacy, alongside multiple finalist appearances in the same competition.

Known for blending raw hip hop beats with broken beat and groove-driven textures, DJ Yoke has built a solid independent catalogue, including three solo albums and three beat tapes released independently.

In 2025, he unveils Yoke Fora de Órbita, a landmark release that represents a more mature and refined stage of his artistic journey. The album marks his first physical release, available on vinyl and cassette, and reflects the strong influence of his recent years based in London.

Conceived to be performed both as a live act with musicians and as a DJ set, Yoke Fora de Órbita expands Yoke’s sonic universe beyond the traditional DJ format. Live performances with musicians are scheduled for London, Lisbon, and other European cities.

We Jazz Records continues their 7" series with a new release by Oaagaada, a fresh quartet from the rural parts of Southern Finland. "Oag-ada / A Swimming Trip" appears on 30 October and presents the band's ability to create fiery and flowing jazz music with strong avantgarde leanings. Think Art Ensemble Of Chicago on their groovy mode and add a strong DIY mentality, four people in a room creating music in the now. The lows are low and the highs are high, with the trumpet firmly on the red, adding just the right amount of blurriness into the picture. Perhaps it's not "lo-fi jazz" per se, but rather music which is more concerned with other things than the cleanest of hi-fi imagery. This is "real jazz for real people".

The quartet includes Tuure Tammi (trumpet), Sami Pekkola (sax), Tero Kemppainen (bass) and Simo Laihonen (drums). Laihonen has recently appeared on We Jazz Records with Stanley J. Zappa and previously with Black Motor, and more Oaagaada can be heard on the recent "We Jazz Live Plates" album "Lonna 2019".

True to We Jazz style, the 7" single comes with old school heat-pressed labels and a plain brown paper sleeve.

Anlässlich des 40-jährigen Jubiläums des Albumklassikers "Thick As A Brick" erscheint am 30. März 2012 eine Fortsetzung zum Originalalbum mit dem Titel "Thick As A Brick 2".

1972 hatte Ian Anderson mit dem Jethro-Tull-Album "Thick As A Brick" einen Klassiker des Progressive Rock aufgenommen. Im Mittelpunkt der Songtexte stand die fiktive kindliche Hauptfigur Gerald Bostock. Das Album avancierte zum Spitzenreiter in den Billboard Charts und zu einem beachtlichen Erfolg in etlichen anderen Ländern.

Vierzig Jahre später: Was würde Gerald Bostock, der nun 50 Jahre alt wäre, heutzutage machen? Wie wäre es ihm in all der Zeit ergangen? Der "zweite" Teil des Albumklassikers zieht die unterschiedlichsten Möglichkeiten in Betracht, was aus dem frühreifen Schuljungen Gerald Bostock hätte werden können, welche Wege er hätte einschlagen können. In den diversen Songs nimmt die Hauptfigur verschiedene Alter Egos an, um die Vielzahl der möglichen Wendungen zu verdeutlichen, die Schicksal und Zufall in einem Leben bereit halten. So illustrieren die Songs nicht nur Geralds Leben, sondern auch die Entwicklungen unserer eigenen Biographien, die nicht selten durch zufällige Begegnungen und Eingriffe völlig neue Wendungen annehmen, auch wenn sie manchmal zunächst noch ganz nichtig und unbedeutend erscheinen.

For a few years, Slovakian born & Czech-based artist pantata (Stefan Barcak) has been making music for himself, while running a record store slash coffee bar (called 25,2 rpm) in Prague. Over the course of a month in 2024 pantata made many songs with different analog machines and selected the favourite tracks out of this. His music is very laidback -almost empty- analog music that reminds of K. Leimer and Tara Cross mixed with Czech & Slovakian childhood memories and love and honesty of nowadays memories. "I was born on March 3, 1998, in a small town in eastern Slovakia. In the distance, you could see the Slovak mountains. That image of big mountains on the horizon still inspires my work today. In my early years, before my family and I moved to Prague, I was quite an outsider, I liked drawing and painting and I never stopped. Nowadays, I have a nice setup at home. A few synths: Sequential Circuits Six-Trak, Pro-One, Yamaha DX7, Roland Juno, JP-8000, S-1 (a small SH-101 clone), and classic Roland drum machines like the 909 and 707. I also use a few effect pedals, an old mixer, and a Tascam Portastudio where I record everything to tape. When I make a track, I usually need to finish it in one day. I start playing my instruments, and whatever feeling I have that day needs to be recorded. If I leave a song for tomorrow, I might lose the feeling and feel something completely different, so I prefer to start a new track instead."

Revived after a 22 year hiatus, PA has since become our main source for new Beltran material. Buy-on-sight stuff for those seeking ambient techno of a rarified calibre. There’s an inevitable pinch-me moment whenever a producer of undeniable influence jumps on the label, and safe to say, this is one of those moments.

Expect sun-kissed Balearica and sublime, acid-fuelled romance. Sometimes we levitate, bathing in the glow of JB’s beatific harmony and sanguine tenderness. The slow-burn simmer of 303, the lithe gliding of his breaks; all of it demonstrating effortlessness of execution.

Choral vocals ascend, vistas pristine and closer listens reveal even greater levels of detail. You might say it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

HiIDAS ist ein instrumentales Trio aus München, das sich im Doom Metal verortet, aber dessen Grenzen gerne überschreitet. Gegründet hat sich die Band im Frühjahr 2023, Flo Bätz (Gitarre), Christoph Mühlbauer (Drums) und Richard Noyn (Bass) haben allerdings schon in verschiedenen Bands zusammengespielt und machen somit schon jahrelang Musik zusammen. Dies zeigt sich darin, was für eine tighte Einheit sie sind und das erlebt man am besten auf einem ihrer Live- Konzerte. Die vermeintliche Lücke im Sound und Storytelling einer Instrumentalband verstehen Hidas durch ihr intelligentes Songwriting nicht nur zu schließen, sondern zu ihrer Stärke zu machen.

P.E.A.R.L.'s Falling Ethics imprint reaches release number 25. For this special occasion he invites personal favourite and good friend, icon of the Spanish techno scene, Oscar Mulero. After a first appearance on the label back in 2019 it was long overdue to present their follow up split EP. Both producers are known for their forward-thinking, optimized techno pressure and on 'Above Us Today' they show nothing less. Four perfectly shaped, effective techno hitters in their own iconic style. Mulero with his twisted hypno swing and P.E.A.R.L. working his impeccable high-energy grooves make this an essential techno pack.

Two vocal tracks and two instrumentals. The classic EP structure reflects the class act that is Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti. Italoconnection are back at the Bordello weaving their synthesizer magic. And those analogue lines are what immediately wash over the listener in “Like A Star.” Crisp percussion and sailing melodies break to a glorious hook before Ventura’s unmistakable voice takes hold. Paying homage to Moroder’s “From Here To Eternity”, Italoconnection deliver a vocoder dipped love affair as smouldering vocals pitch ever higher. The instrumental strips back all lyrics, but allows the breathy keys to remain and keep that human touch amidst the addictive chords and rich textures. Bold machine brass introduces “Make It Real.” These blasts form the melodic backbone for this ballad to self-belief where Ventura’s impassioned words are impeccably coupled with Gozzetti’s sparkling synthwork. That synthwork comes to the fore in the finale. With lyrics pared back, the machines sing a different song as that energy packed melody is charged with even more intensity. Nearly 40 years ago A.O.A. and OI POLLOI joined forces to condemn what they saw as an Unlimited Genocide. Fast forward to 2025 and nothing has changed for the better, with everybody witnessing a genocide unfolding in front of our eyes daily, while humanity hits rocks bottom. So Sealed Record decided it was the right time to bring back this classic slice of Scottish punks and skins protest music.
Originally released on the ever impressive Children of the Revolution Records Unlimited Genocide features the hardest side of the OI POLLOI vast catalogue. Full of rage and anger, tensely tuneful with earnest anarcho conviction. With A.O.A. On the flip side delivering seven tracks of full in your face hardcore punk, carrying the torch of the DISCHARGE influenced thrash of the era.
The record has a strong 80’s production and touches on green and environmental issues, apartheid, nuclear power, religion, vegetarianism and much more. It’s raw, direct and a great snapshot of an era that is often mimicked but never bettered.
