"Wir sind stolz und fühlen uns geehrt, dass wir die Compilation genau so zusammenstellen konnten", schwärmen die Selektoren. "Volume 04 ist wahrscheinlich die funktionalste und eingängigste Modeselektion, die wir bis dato gemacht haben."

On 7th August the godfather Mike Dunn presents an EP fuelled by a pumping heart of pure house, entitled 'DJ Beat That Shhh' / 'Move It Work It'. Taken from his forthcoming album due for release in October 2017.
Both tracks capture Mike's essence, placing his trademark hip house booty style vocals and stripped-back, jacking drums centre stage.
'DJ Beat That Shit' is classic, bumping 90s Chi goodness updated with modern technology, whilst 'Move It, Work It' is a no-nonsence smoke and strobe throbber, that recalls the best of Trax and DJ International.
For anyone who knows their shit, Mike should need no introduction, but for those that don't, he was highly influential in birthing the modern day dance music phenomenon, especially with tracks like 'Face The Nation', 'God Made Me Phunky', 'Let It Be House' and 'Personal Problem'.
Mike created hip house, DJ'd with fellow legends Ron Hardy, Larry Heard and Armando Gallop, produced for house heroes Armando, Fast Eddie and K-Alexi Shelby, and worked with the iconic voices of Byron Stingley and Kym English.
After a long absence from DJing in Europe, Mike returned in 2015 to rock crowds at Panorama Bar, Fabric, Concrete, Sub Club and Glastonbury, demonstrating why the Chicago OG is still very much in demand.

But I'm more a dessert after kind of guy. Anyway, tiramisu is always a good choice.

Geneve Based Pascal Viscardi bring his rich and sweltering textures to SAFT with his first EP for the Spanish label. The swiss producer's Paradiso EP is already the 9th installment and by no means an odd addition to the family. Strongly rooted in soulful sounds with firm aesthetics and blissful melodies, this release is exactly what SAFT is all about. From the moment the pad in the title track starts riding, Paradiso immediately hints to a deserted paradise.
Tales From The Emax (A2) is a groove laden Anthem that will soothe those that are into soulful but firm sounds. On the B side, we find remix work of both originals. Swiss house stalwart 'Agnes' stirs things up with his thriving rework of Paradiso called 'Agnes' La Charme Chambertin Mixx'. On the B2 cut we find SAFT familiar 'Jefferson Belmondo' with a cracking rework of the title track 'Paradiso' called Jefferson's Beach Mix. 4 strong, groove-laden cuts that celebrate the SAFT sound like never before.

Tearing through the streets again with wicked track after wicked track! Pounding Grooves don't stop! This heavy low end bomber is sprinkled with static dust which grunges it up nicely. Then comes along Valvestat who gives us a new taste of UK-style tech, mixxing heavy kicks and technical percussions with subtle black strings of death! Huge!

Plastik People - no, not the legendary London venue that was host to dubstep's formative FWD>> parties - a garage label run out of Albuquerque, New Mexico with some seriously authentic roots. This new one kicks off with a raw, bumping Jovonn Project Boyz mix of a vocal house gem that overflows with dusty and soulful vibes. Straight & Shuffle offer the equally timeless 'Love', complete with twinkling synths, golden chords and nice undercooked grooves. The flip features Wayne Hunter's perfect US garage vibes as he flips 'Keep On Pushin'' and last of all is the super silky and speedy house of Baeka's 'All I Need.' These tunes are the very definition of oldies but goldies.

UTTU hits the 200 mark (officially) with DJ Haus in the command module navigating wild meteor showers, solar flares and of course WORMHOLES - along for the ride are fellow cosmonauts Legowelt (under his amazing new ZORLOK COMPRESSOR alias), Berlin legend SHED & Tokyo's 'modular dub enthusiast' YASSOKIIBA - each reworking EneGiZer into unique outer reaches of the sonic cosmos - absorbing DUBSTEP, REGGAE, TEKNO, BREAKZ and HOUZ!"

An artist who needs no introduction, Mike Dunn returns to the legendary NYC label Nu Groove with a four-track vinyl release that brings together disparate influences from the master’s encyclopaedic knowledge of genre and style.

What results are productions that are at once timeless, a quality that can only be achieved through the lived experiences of a four-decade career. Title track ‘Git’cha House On, Baby’ is a late 80s freestyle throwback, with hard synth lines running the show, while ‘Don’t Pay Me No Mind’ is a metropolitan anthem led by a solid piano groove.

Additionally, the vinyl features two tracks from Dunn’s ‘Rock Ya Body (Deepa)’; the lead, an effortlessly cool deliverance of pure, unadulterated house, and ‘Let’cha Love Fall Down On Me’ which swells and flows with addictive ease. Elevating all four compositions are the producer’s signature vocals, immediately arresting and suitable for all genres. Dunn’s status as an innovator was earned through creating and influencing the scenes we know and love today, and this new delivery of originals further cements his status as a 100% house master.

NYC's Sweater on Polo follows up his acclaimed L.I.E.S. 12 inch from 2023 with debut full length double LP, "Almighty Grand Essence" This is pure to form 1985-1988 Chicago House worship, and while many have attempted to recreate this sound, most fail to deliver with correct reverence. Names like Saunders, Mixx, Virgo Four, undoubtedly appear in this conversation with Sweater on Polo taking cues and transforming the vintage sound into re-imagined dancefloor classics. Raw but clean, psychedelic but functional...this nine track record can move the crowd in all the right ways, with the lush deepness of "The Creation" to the nu-wave-house hybrid of "Proto Wave" or BMX beat track closer Psychotic Seance, its rare to find a young producer tapping into the vaults in such a focused, effective manner. Highly recommended to house heads worldwide.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Daft Punk’s chart-topping third album Human After All, a Limited Edition 2LP gatefold version of the companion album Human After All Remixes is set for release on November 28, 2025. This marks the very first vinyl edition of the complete collection.

Human After All, the third album from Daft Punk, was originally released in March 2005. It was produced in just six weeks, a major departure from the timeline for their previous release, Discovery, which took over two years to produce. A year after the release of Human After All, a collection of Human After All remixes tracks was released on CD exclusively in Japan, including reworkings by Justice, Soulwax, and SebastiAn, among others. In June 2014, an expanded CD version was released (also exclusive to Japan) featuring additional remixes from artists such as Basement Jaxx and The Juan Maclean. The album was made available to stream internationally in August 2014.

Human After All Remixes will now be available for the first time on vinyl in limited quantities.

Existing inside the liminal spaces of where light meets dark, we are presented with a documentation of dissonance and harmony. We begin our voyage with Jihad, a sluggish and slogging piece that unforgivingly drags us through the grime and the dirt in a ritualistic fashion that would have the ghost of Georges Bataille dancing in circles. Voices call out and howl into the dark as the drum patterns of the 707 rhythmically grasps onto its anarchic components. In the dark, we can see the light beyond the known universe. In the words of Sneaker "The name is not our message, but a document of an evident, traditional concept in (y)our world." As we find ourselves sprawled out on the ground following the 1st sonic stanza, a menacing voice bellows and warns that this is a Sax Track. Referencing Chicago icon Lil Louis, this work juxtaposes classical elements of house music together with the bare knuckled spirit of Jak. A magical spell led by disharmonious Portasound FM keys in conversation with a teetering sub bass, where at its core, this plus this, equals something that is uniquely familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. A number fit for any uncanny ritual that will fall under the night sky. Bringing our cosmic procession to a close we pick up the pace with a commanding number titled, Dance On, a no holds barred work that will possess your soul in the name of Jak. Flangers wail unforgivingly alongside a pulsating 101, as samples of the human voice are chopped up and arranged into a conversation that hypnotically calls for our bodies to be transformed into soft machines, while powered by ceremonious motions that are generated from the liberating process of ritual movement. The seventh release in the Secondary Series, Primary Colours welcomes all around deep and dub master from Scotland - Stillhead. We first came to know of Alex in the early 2000s and have followed his music under several monikers ever since. Stillhead o ,ers us three orginal cuts for this six track EP with remix support from the one and only Mike Schommer and label heads Echo Inspectors plus a beatless rework of Recreation Beats. This release seamlessly blurs genre lines, merging dub-techno with elements of bass, downtempo, deep-house, and ambient influences. The result is a release that feels familiar yet enigmatic, while simultaneously forging a unique and attractive fusion of styles. Stillhead is a master of his craft, and we are very pleased to bring this release to life with a heavy-weight 12Inch press and availability on digital outlets.

Klex blobbing his first solo EP on Strictly Strictly, pushing forward with his virtually self-titled "Klextasy EP". Entangling techy trance strikers with dreamily warm temperament, Klex offers three strikingly quirky productions on side A, blending surprisingly seamlessly from bouncy to anthemic passages. Production duo Dj Dogg and Furious Frank are back with the third edition of their on-going series… this time in full remix treatment!

While keeping in line with their signature underground raw house style, volume three explores some new sounds for the series, including vocals cuts, euphoric early trance melodies, big bass and more.

Nu Groove spotlights the artists that made the legendary NYC label a firm favourite of crate diggers then and now with a series of their vital tracks re-edited by leading industry figures and choice selectors of today. ‘Nu Groove Edits, Vol. 3’ continues to celebrate Rheji Burrell’s output, who was instrumental in defining the sound of Nu Groove alongside his brother Rhano under a slew of monikers.

Up first, Metro’s ‘Turnstyle Turbulance’ gets a fresh edit from respected remixers, the Italian duo NiCe7. What follows is another take on the celebrated house track ‘APT. 2B’ by Rheji’s N.Y. House’n Authority alias, this time by Mark Broom. Tracer’s ‘Love Fantasy’, the collaboration by Luie Rivera and one of the original Paradise Garage DJs, Joey Llanos, is given an edit by Dirty Channels, another established Italian duo and frequent collaborators of NiCe7.

Completing the collection is another edit from the unstoppable production duo Honey Dijon & Luke Solomon as they take on ‘Guitarz’ by Rheji Burrell as Asylum.

Public Enemy's frontman swings for the fences with his tribute to Baseball Public Enemy's Chuck D proudly presents his ode to the great American pastime: baseball! A collection of songs that were originally written as MLB-TV promos, We Wreck Stadiums pays homage and salute to some of the baseball greats and the undeniable impact they've had on the game and the world. Featuring the title track which debuts the Hall of Famers: Chuck, DMC, and Rahiem & Kidd Creole of The Furious Five, all four of them members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Mysticisms keeps the Dubplate series moving, welcoming one of the seminal Dub producers of all time in Scientist. His unique studio techniques and understanding of rhythm are exalted and present on Step It Up, an enlightening example of his genius and matched with a widescreen remix by label associate DJN4, aka DJ Normal 4, teaming up with fellow Dusseldorf producer AKI AKI, to offer a dreamland breaks-steppers anthem.
The fact that Hopeton Overton Brown aka Scientist is one of the true pioneers of Dub music is undisputed. His productions, first as an apprentice at Studio One, then breaking through whilst teamed at King Tubby's studio, led to Channel One and a series of seminal Dub masterpieces throughout the 1980s, mixing engineer Henry 'Junjo' Lawes' productions with the Roots Radics, alongside vocalists Barrington Levy, Jonny Osbourne and Jah Thomas.

Step It Up precedes, taken from the period of seminal Tubby's work with Bunny Lee and in this instance, with Barry Brown classic vocals and Lee's house band, The Aggravators, backing. As often with Reggae's history, much is disputed, however, this unmistakable Scientist production showcases Brown's high pass filters in effect, the trademark riding 4/4, utilising the 4 track mixing desk to create a joyous bounce.

Working on the license from the outset, Tim Schumacher aka DJN4, waited in the wings to dive in the desk for a modern-day remix. Partnering with up-and-coming producer Aki Vierboom (Phaserboys / Candomble), the Digi-Dance MixX is bass-quaking histrionics, a steppers meets rave culture overdose that will be heard from festivals to dancehalls, a righteous dub-breaks riddim y'all.

Step the Mystery

Defected continues to commit the label’s biggest digital releases to wax, delivering some of the best house music on vinyl for the very first time. The thirteenth EP in this series brings some of 2022’s biggest tracks together while spotlighting the experienced producers behind them. The A-side celebrates Harry Romero & Inaya Day’s collaboration ‘Rise Up’, originally released in June, the duo brightened the summer that followed with this instant club favourite. The A-side continues with the Deep In Jersey remix of ‘Rise Up’, offering a deeper and dubbier version of the original for selectors. The B-side showcases two cuts from the industry’s best, ‘Push The Feeling’ by Spanish selector and Urbana Records boss David Penn, featuring expertly layered vocals from Leon Stanford. Next up, ‘When The Dust Clears’ is a soulful collaboration between Defected favourite Mike Dunn and songstress LOA., demonstrating the producer’s revered hip-hop inspired sound.

Bassbins at the ready - BeeDeeBeeBee returns to the fold once again, with two more murky cuts designed for the grottiest of dance floors.

The A-Side: Flipsyde, delivers a 606-fueled electro workout in the vein of their first outing, whilst the AA side: Ulrikaka, features a rolling tech house-y cut that’s been in the hands of those lucky few for sometime now.

Modern Rituals have announced their return with the release of upcoming new album, Cracking Of The Bulk. For a band who’ve tended to flesh out songs in the practice room and track live, the writing and recording of Modern Rituals’ third album was a disparate and protracted process. In cramped apartments and a secluded annex, sharing files over the internet and working on parts in solitude, the band introduced subtler tones from their last record, This Is The History. Yet still, this new direction is matched by an explosive frustration that gives it a unique balance of darker and lighter shades. Thirty years after releasing his debut album, Chill Rob G teamed with super producer C-Doc to present “Empires Crumble”, a boom bap odyssey filled with the wisdom of one of hip hop’s elder statesmen. Featuring a Flavor Unit reunion with Double J, God Lakim (formerly Lakim Shabazz) and The 45 King, Rob also teams up with Public Enemy’s Chuck D to present a rugged new version of his 1990 hit, “The Power.”
