It is hard to overstate just how successful, on every level, ALIEN: ROMULUS and its score are at returning longtime fans to the world Ridley Scott, Dan O'Bannon, Jerry Goldsmith (and so many other brilliant artists) created back in 1979. But spend just a few minutes with Benjamin Wallfisch's masterful score, and you can feel the attention to detail in the craft of every choice.

Doing the impossible task of bridging the gap between sequels and prequels, Wallfisch takes the dissonant, atonal and truly horrifying soundscapes that Goldsmith defined the genre with and makes peace with the melodies and monsters of subsequent films - all while making his own voice heard throughout, creating a truly remarkable piece of film music.

To create the score for Jurassic World Rebirth, director Gareth Edwards turned to a distinguished friend, two-time Oscar® winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water), who worked with Edwards on Godzilla. “I feel very fortunate to be doing the music for a movie franchise like this, which entertained me so greatly, as a filmgoer, for decades,” Desplat says. “I dreamed of writing music for movies like this since I was a teenager, and now, here I am,” he adds with a laugh, “part of Jurassic World, almost a teenager.”



Rebirth represents the second time that Desplat has stepped into a franchise and inherited and adapted iconic musical motifs written by an artist he considers his “forever idol,” the legendary John Williams: Desplat previously took on that challenge with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. “John Williams wrote a fantastic melody for Jurassic Park that I now get to reinvent, rejigger and resculpt in ways benefit our movie,” Desplat says. “My desire was not to quote John’s score bluntly but subtly echo it or make use of it in the original score I have written for the film in playful and meaningful ways.”

Mutant is thrilled to partner with our friends at Neon and Filmtrax to release Edo Van Breemen’s score to Osgood Perkin’s latest horror hit The Monkey.

Based on the Stephen King short story produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Saw), The Monkey is a new trip by Longlegs writer/director Osgood Perkins. When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree, forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.

The score is as playful as the movie itself, whimsical when it needs to be, but also managing to be terrifying and tense. We have pressed two versions of the score, one is a limited edition Lenticular edition strictly limited to 1000 copies pressed on multicolour Monkey splatter vinyl, and the other is an eco vinyl edition featuring a static sleeve. Both versions are housed in a printed outer O-Card. Composer Edo Van Breemen told us that when they were recording the score, "Mr. King’s Monkey haunted our process for the entire duration of post-production on this film while Mr. Perkins possessed us to mutilate sounds and arrangements in a manner beyond our control. We hope you enjoy this record, and if not... shit, man, that sucks.”

Volume 2 spans the period of 2012 to 2022 and features not only his work with Marvel Studios (including their iconic Marvel Studios Fanfare, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and more!) but also more career defining music for Disney • Pixar (Inside Out, Coco and Lightyear) as well as smaller, cult classics like John Carter, and Tomorrowland, more personal films such as Jojo Rabbit and The Book of Henry. He has taken these iconic themes and transformed them into soothing, beautiful 60’s lounge-inspired reworks.

The soundtrack to Marvel's first Team-Based Superhero Shooter is appropriately epic in every way. It’s heavy on guitar solos, symphonic strings, choirs, and powerful percussion, with infectious melodies that make for an endlessly listenable experience, even outside of the game itself.

The album starts with Adriana Figueroa's "Rivals 'Til the End (Main Theme),” which instantly becomes one of the best anime opening themes you’ve never heard of until today. Ben's score evokes the lush classic sounds of the original 1940s movie. It's a beautifully light score featuring incredible orchestration, evoking the mystery within the woods. The score is scary and brutal but also delicate and human when necessary. It's evocative and rich and helps add grounding to this very contemporary telling of this tale.

From the studio that brought you Mary and The Witch’s Flower (2017) and Modest Heroes (2019) comes a new sweeping and epic animated feature film based on the novel by A.F. Harrold. Studio Ponoc’s The Imaginary tells the story of Rudger, the made-up and invisible friend of young Amanda, through his eyes as he traverses the magical liminal spaces that Imaginaries inhabit, the dangers they face, and their adventures.

The original score is full of genre swings and poignant beauty. Bouncing from imaginary Yeti attacks, to Venetian Banquets, and Submarine battles, all while deftly navigating joy, and grief and everything in between - Kenji Tamai & agehasprings take us all on a journey that helps us find our imaginations again.

Mutant, in partnership with Netflix, are proud to present Graham Raynold’s score to Richard Linklater’s film HIT MAN.

A Romantic Comedy Noir, loosely based on the true story of a nebbish philosophy professor named Gary Johnson who moonlighted as an undercover police officer, HIT MAN is Richard Linklater and Glen Powell’s meditation on identity. Linklater, a filmmaker who has shapeshifted many times over his storied three decades of storytelling, has reteamed with his frequent music collaborator Graham Reynolds, to produce a jazzy, romantic, dark, and playful score.

Reynolds has worked in each of these modes before with Linklater, but never all at the same time. It stands defiant in contrast the version of the Gary that we meet at the beginning of the film - allowing the character to meet the score on its level by the time we approach the twisted finale. This score proves that genre, like identity, can be a limitation placed on both films and film music.

This physical release is limited to 500 copies worldwide, and features a forward by Graham Reynolds and packaging designed by Mutant co-founder Mo Shafeek.

Destroy All Neighbors is a twisted splatter-comedy about a deranged journey of self-discovery full of goopy practical FX, a well-known ensemble cast, and LOTS of blood. William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues), is a neurotic, self-absorbed musician determined to finish his prog-rock magnum opus, facing a creative roadblock in the form of a noisy and grotesque neighbor named Vlad (Alex Winter).

He finally works up the nerve to demand that Vlad keep it down, and William inadvertently decapitates him. But, while attempting to cover up one murder, William's accidental reign of terror causes victims to pile up and become undead corpses who torment and create more bloody detours on his road to prog-rock Valhalla. Paesano has been quietly producing some of the best genre scores of the last decade. His music for the Daredevil TV series, Marvel's Spider-Man video games and The Maze Runner trilogy if films have all led to this in some way. With Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, he has crafted a beautiful and sweeping score for a massive dystopian world inhabited with nuanced and delicate characters. And he does so while respecting the source material and the legacy of the franchises that loom large. It's a tightrope that Paesano deftly walks with well-earned confidence.

The album transforms these works through the lens of Exotica, replacing epic strings and thundering drums with vibraphones and marimbas.



“This album was inspired by the work of Arthur Lyman and Martin Denny,” says Giacchino. “What would they do with the Star Trek theme? Or video games like Medal of Honor? It was a way for me to play in that world I loved so much growing up. I thought it would be fun to create a fantasy world, where this album was recorded back in 1967 and then lost, only to resurface today.”

The album showcases Giacchino’s unerring talent for melody, stripping down grand symphonies to their essential elements while retaining their aesthetic and emotional core.

B side opens with track "Peal Of Nian" by Polygonia, an artists that very well respected in the scene for her specific sound inspired by nature and plants giving us a pure gem for the record. B2.
