Corn, originally released in 2015, features nine tracks Russell recorded in 1982 and 1983. In collaboration with Russell"s partner Tom Lee, Audika"s Steve Knutson compiled Corn from Arthur"s original, completed 1/4" tape masters. Russell himself compiled this material on three separate test pressings-labelled El Dinosaur, Indian Ocean, and Untitled, respectively- in 1985. Russell fans know something of the Corn sound from Audika"s debut release, "Calling Out of Context" (2004), which included four songs from these sessions: "The Deer In The Forest Part 1," "The Platform on the Ocean," "Calling Out Of Context," and "I Like You!" This new collection includes rhythmic alternate versions of "Lucky Cloud," "Keeping Up," "See My Brother, He"s Jumping Out (Let"s Go Swimming #2)," "This Is How We Walk on the Moon," and "Hiding Your Present From You," along with "Corn," "Corn (Continued)," "They and Their Friends," and the closing instrumental "Ocean Movie," one of the most beautiful and curious Russell tracks ever to see the light of day.

On in february, Isik Kural works like a photographer of sound, documenting the passing and returning of time as if material snapshots of life's temporality. Across the album's twelve songs, each composed from chance loops and cocooned within the soft container of Isik's memorable voice and melody play, time is held on to hopefully, impossibly, eternally.
Born in Istanbul, Isik studied music engineering at the University of Miami, alighted in New York City, and eventually settled in Glasgow, immersing in a sound design masters and audiovisual practice. While these paths guided him between different projects and cities, a voice was simultaneously growing inside the artist, informed by a vision of the world in its everyday luminosity. This voice was expressed in the lyrical and instrumental waves of 2019's As Flurries, a cassette collection for Italian label Almost Halloween Records.
Isik Kural's in february will be released on October 15, 2021 on vinyl, cassette, compact disc, and digital formats. On behalf of Isik, a portion of the proceeds from this release will benefit Turkiye Egitim Gonulluleri Vakfi, an organization that creates and conducts workshops, educational training programs and after school programs for children across Turkey.

In 2020 they released a double A-side single covering Hunters & Collectors’ Talking To A Stranger and Bryan Ferry’s Sensation, and played their last live show in Feb 2020. Now NO ZU return with a joyful, celebratory EP of their final recordings with beloved vocalist Daphne Camf. Stabbing synths sounds dominate this track while Niall manages to create another dreamy vibe again for this monotonous (in a very positive way that is) work of art - a dreamy vibe which can be found on any of Niall's EP's tracks. This leads us directly to »Last Floating Figh, Liufe Floating« where Mr. Mannion floats into much quieter shores. It's a very meditative affair which makes you want to listen to it over and over again once the tune comes to an end. We think that Señor Villalobos might unleash this one very soon onto some European dancefloor … don't you think?

On »Weather Master«, this EP's last track, Niall masters the art of trippy sounds for a fourth time building another dreamy hypnotic groove that is just beautiful. Maybe too beautiful for this world … we don't know, but what do we know? We're fans. Fans of Mano Le Tough who does not seem so tough at all considering his first offering for Live At Robert Johnson.

Berlin electronic duo Donna Regina recorded two songs for the 10th edition of the Snowflakes Christmas Singles Club. In ‘Weihnachten Woanders’ (‘Christmas Somewhere Else’), singer Regina Janssen reflects on how it feels to spend Christmas away from home. Somewhere else, in a strange town where nobody knows your name and no one is waiting for you. You miss the familiar sounds of Christmas, like the child that sings ‘Stille Nacht’ and you dream of being home again. It’s a feeling many people can relate to. Especially this year, a year in which so many people were forced to flee from their homes. Günter Janssen, the other half of Donna Regina and Regina’s husband, lays down a minimalistic tapestry of synths and drum rolls. A loop of street sounds, a sample taken from sound artist Paula Schopf’s 2021 album ‘Especios En Soledad’, forces its way into the song, and in the end overpowers voice and other instruments. ‘Weihnachten Woanders’ very much captures the year 2022 and the worrying times we are living in, in both lyrics and music.

‘Christmas With You’, the B-side of the single, was originally written and recorded by Polish indie band Old Time Radio for their 2009 Christmas album 'Sketches For Another Christmas Songbook'. Donna Regina again goes for a minimalistic electronic sound, but also adds a certain melancholy to the song. Partly due to the synths that in places resemble the sound of an organ, an instrument that appeared on so many Christmas recordings from the 1950s and early 1960s. The love-hate relationship many people have with Christmas is perfectly laid down in the lyrics: “We watch the cartoons / We sing out of tune / Kiss by the fireplace / Listen to those horrible songs / Do we know / It’s Christmas time at all?”.

Regina and Donna Janssen debuted as Donna Regina in 1990 with the single 'Avec Le Temps' and released their debut album 'Lazing Away' in 1992 on Our Choice, a German sublabel of Rough Trade. In 1999, after four albums on Strange Ways Records, they signed to their current label Karaoke Kalk. Since then, they have released eight albums for the label. In 2015, Karaoke Kalk also released 'Dis Cover', a compilation of Donna Regina songs recorded by other artists like Dean & Britta, Bernard Burgalat, Mouse On Mars and many others. Donna Regina’s songs have been featured on compilations of labels like Rough Trade, Sonar Kollektiv, Klant Elektronik, Milan and Rolling Stone. Donna Regina was not Günther’s first band. In the early 1980s he was part of a Neue Deutsche Welle act with a very Christmas-related name: Heilige 3 Köninge ('Holy 3 Kings'). Their sole album, 1982's 'Zum Teufel Met Dem Kamel' has become very collectable. Günther was also featured as songwriter and musician on German singer Romie Singh's 1986 CBS album 'Masters' and later ventured into writing music for television and film. Regina Janssen also recorded as a vocalist with French musician Bertrand Burgalat, and sang several songs on his 2005 album ‘Portrait-Robot”.

Formed in 2005 in Sundsvall, Sweden, Technical Metal Masters SOREPTION are known for their razor-sharp technical riffs, schizophrenic time signatures topped with catchy chugging grooves and intense vocals. From this they have created their signature sound, not yet replicated by any other modern band, with a strong following to back. The band’s debut full-length Deterioration Of Minds brought major attention to the band as a formidable force in the genre. Deterioration Of Minds was released by Ninetone Records in 2010 and was rereleased by Unique Leader Records in 2014, and their follow-up punishing album “Engineering the Void” was released February 2014 also on Unique Leader Records to critical acclaim. 2015 saw SOREPTION take their technical prowess to the masses, with tours supporting extreme metal machine Cryptopsy, tech-death masters Origin, and the legendary death metal giant Cannibal Corpse. Following the on-road success, the industry and fans sat up and took notice, resulting in the band signing with Sumerian Records in 2018 releasing their next full-length “Monument of the End in the late summer of that same year. The album highlighted the growth of the outfit and continued razor-sharp precision that SOREPTION has become known for. Prior to the release of “Monument of the End” the band earned a spot on the 2018 edition of The Summer Slaughter Tour and followed it up with a support slot for Revocation on “The Outer Ones Global Invasion Part II” European Tour, solidifying them again as a live force to be reckoned with. The 1STEP Process:
The Impex 1STEP process relies on short, tightly-controlled runs that require a new lacquer after each 500 pressings. This unforgiving format has the lacquer skipping the regular father-mother process, going right to a single convert and then pressing. Though this dramatically increases mastering and production costs, it also assures each run is more consistent from disc to disc, with less noise, clearer details and deeper bass.

Reducing production complexity to just a single "convert" disc between the lacquer and the press greatly improves groove integrity, diminishes non-fill anomalies and increases signal integrity from the master tape to your system.

Surprise Chef’s music is based on evoking mood; their vivid arrangements utilize time and space to build soundscapes that invite the listener into their world. The quintet’s distinct sound pulls from 70s film scores, the funkier side of jazz, and the samples that form the foundation of hip hop. They push the boundaries of instrumental soul and funk with their own approach honed by countless hours in the studio, studying the masters, and perhaps most importantly, the “tyranny of distance” that dictates a unique perspective to their music. Hailing from just outside of Melbourne, Australia their first two albums, All News Is Good News and Daylight Savings amassed a die-hard fanbase and brought their sound from their home studio to every corner of the globe. The band is now signed to Big Crown Records, joining a lineage of contemporary and classic sounds that have influenced Surprise Chef’s music since their formation in 2017. In many ways Surprise Chef embodies the idiom "the benefits of limits." They were limited in that there weren't many people making or talking about instrumental jazz/soul/funk in Southeast Australia, let alone putting out records. This left them to develop their sound and approach in a kind of creative isolation where a small circle of friends and like-minded musicians fed off each other. "Being in Australia, being so far away, we only get glimpses and glances of this music’s origins," Stuckey says. "But hearing a label like Big Crown was one of the first times we realized you could make fresh, new soul music that wasn't super retro or just nostalgic." This approach is on full display throughout their new album Education & Recreation. Tracks like “Velodrome” pair chunky drums with an earworm synth line that has all the making of something you would find on an Ultimate Breaks & Beats compilation while numbers like “Iconoclasts” show their knack for tasteful use of space. 2003 DEBUT STUDIO ALBUM FROM ACCLAIMED NORWEGIAN POSTPROGRESSIVE ART ROCKERS MASTERED HALF-SPEED AT AIR STUDIOS
Formed in Oslo in 1996 by childhood friends Jon-Arne Vilbo & Thomas Andersen
along with Jan- Henrik Ohme (later joined by Mikael Krømer, Robert Risberget
Johansen & Roy Funner), Gazpacho have honed their unique sound over a string
of critically acclaimed albums & numerous tours, including several with long-time
supporters Marillion.
In 2002, Gazpacho entered a song contest on 'Make-A-Star' with the song "Sea Of
Tranquillity" & won. Their second entry, "Ghost" made it to second position, giving
the band the opportunity to release an album through MP3. This led the
band to release their first official album 'Bravo' in 2003 - which contained five of
the six tracks off the MP3 album plus six new compositions. Utilising the
possibilities of the Internet the band had teamed up with the American singer/
songwriter & fellow 'Make- A- Star' contestee Esther Valentine & New Zealand
producer Peter Kearns. Valentine sang a duet with Ohme on the song
'Novgorod' (which she also co-wrote) & Kearns produced two of the album tracks.
'Bravo' gained the band more international acclaim, with Dutch leading music
magazine 'Oor' stating "their debut album is a rare beauty".
The first in the 'Gazpacho Half-Speed Masters Series', this new Kscope release of
'Bravo' was mastered half-speed at Air Studios in London for a superior, sharper,
more direct & engaging sound. Other releases from the band's catalogue are to
follow throughout 2022 & 2023.

GREAT LOST ALBUM BY NC LEGEND SAM MOSS IS DISCOVERED, MIXED
FOR DELUXE RELEASE produced by Chris Stamey In Winston-Salem, NC,
guitarist Sam Moss is a legend - A superior, highly versatile musician
whose advocacy for the blues and mastery of the nuances of electric
blues-based soloing somewhat paralleled Mike Bloomfield's in Chicago,
Moss was an inspiring, charismatic mentor to generations of North
Carolina rockers, including Let's Active and The dB's
He was a larger- than- life character whose club appearances astounded local
audiences, yet he never released a record in his lifetime. So, producer Chris
Stamey was thrilled to discover, in 2020, on the end of an old tape, forgotten
masters of Blues Approved, a spectacular Stax- and Muscle Shoalsinfluenced
solo record, made with Mitch Easter in 1977.This "great lost" record reveals that
Moss was also a soulful songwriter and singer. It has now been carefully remixed
and produced for release, with a deluxe booklet featuring detailed liner notes and
bio, session notes by Easter, and lots of vivid color photos. Peter Holsapple (The
dB's) says, "Sam Moss was an inspiration to so many of us; with the release of
Blues Approved, people everywhere will understand why.
Mitch Easter of Let's Active recalls: "Sam wrote interesting songs that almost
always had a blues angle, but he brought in a lot of elements from elsewhere." But
the material then sat on the shelf, unreleased, as Moss opened a vintage guitar
store, selling internationally to rock stars and other celebrities for several
decades.
On July 30, 2021, the City of Winston-Salem honored Moss with a sidewalk star in
the city's Walk of Fame downtown.

Quality over quantity. That’s what characterises Shamek Farrah and Norman Person’s recorded output. They may have a small discography between them but it’s a stable of recordings that centrally locate them in the development of the black jazz of America. BBE Music is delighted to present a new edition of a rare, relatively unknown, and unheard gem. Recorded between 1988 and 1991 across a series of concerts, ‘Live’ was released in 1991 and was only available for sale at their gigs. Issued on audio cassette on Farrah’s private Heritage Industries label, ‘Live’ is a raw, uncompromising selection of deep, conscious jazz featuring three original compositions and two covers: ‘Aisha’, written by Person, was inspired by Person’s daughter and is a majestic joyous groove that extends out into a percussive jam; ‘Negative Forces’ is a fiercely paced hard bopper worthy of the Jazz Messengers. Written by Person, he tells how “it had to be like a torpedo, man. It had to come out strong and fight against those negative forces”. The one Farrah/Person co-write on the album is ‘Timeless Beings’, a short freeform improvisation that creates a distinct moment of space and light in an otherwise intensely focussed, yet highly accessible album. The two covers on the album reflect the instruments of the co-leaders: sax and trumpet. ‘Footprints’, the classic written by the Newark Flash himself, Wayne Shorter, and first heard on ‘Miles Smiles’ in 1967 is delivered deftly by Farrah and co. Here, the band pays a respectful yet adventurous rendition, with some superbly colourful piano from Sonelius Smith. The second cover is a tribute to the great trumpeter Clifford Brown, who died in a car accident in 1956, aged just 25. ‘I Remember Clifford’ written by Benny Golson, is handled with suitably delicate reverence. “I still listen to Clifford Brown today,” says Person. “He’s still my teacher.” On ‘Live’, saxophonist Farrah and trumpeter Person - friends for decades - capture an energy and vibration that is infused with the spirit of their youth – whether drawing on the hard bop of the late 50s and early 60s or the Afrocentric spiritual jazz of the early 70s, of which Farrah is intimately linked via his albums on Strata East, ‘Live’ is a document of two masters at work. ‘Live’ has flown under the radar to many a fan of prime black conscious and spiritual jazz but now BBE brings back this astonishing set by two giant talents accompanied by a group of musicians who shine with brilliance and verve. Available for the first time on CD, digital, and double vinyl set cut at 45rpm by the Grammy-nominated The Carvery mastering studio, ‘Live’ also comes with an extended interview with Shamek Farrah and Norman Person by Tony Higgins.

conduct an experiment
He set out to create a third music world, independent of his band 'Riverside' &
solo project, Lunatic Soul. A world which would differ stylistically from the
previous two & underline the first steps he took in music.
30 years ago, a certain shy boy fascinated by the works of Jean Michel Jarre,
Vangelis & Tangerine Dream, locked himself up in his room & started to think up
his original music stories. He recorded them on cassette tapes, created covers
for them & arranged them on the shelf next to those of his masters. 30 years
later, when the world was taken over by a pandemic & an international lockdown,
Mariusz was beamed back to his childhood bedroom, where he was reading &
drawing comic books, playing games, listening to lots of music from cassette
tapes... & recording his own electronic sounds. "Why not do it again?" he thought
to himself, feeling inspired. "Why not create a new project where I will play only
the keyboards? And why not sing it just like I used to when I was a kid? Simply
'Mariusz Duda'".
And that's exactly what he did. Between 2020 & 2021, he recorded & released
online three electronic albums that make up the "Lockdown Trilogy".
'Claustrophobic Universe' is not an album inspired by books about astronomy &
astrophysics. It's an album about a journey into our mind. The universe here is a
metaphor for our escape from reality, escape to the place where we soothe our
response to stimuli.

that were jammed out and recorded at their favourite south- west farmhouse

Glenn Fallows and Mark Treffel released their first album, ‘The Globeflower Master Vol. 1’, on Mr Bongo in September 2021. With its lush, warm and timeless productions paying homage to classic 60s and 70s soundtrack composers, it was very well received and struck a chord with the scene’s connoisseurs. Louder Than War emphatically stated, "It’s impossible not to like The Globeflower Masters Vol. 1.”, with Gigwise echoing that praise “slickly compelling retro vibes”.

The Globeflower Master Vol. 2 is the slightly edgier and more grown-up sequel to Mark and Glenn's 2021 debut album. For this excursion, the Brighton-based duo wanted to lean a little further into their European film soundtrack influences, with particular inspiration mined from the works of Stefano Torossi, David Shire, and Roger Webb. This expansion of their sound builds upon the rich tapestry of cinematic funk à la David Axelrod, Serge Gainsbourg and Morricone that fashioned Vol. 1. Here the arrangements, melodies, and harmonies have been refined; only what is needed is left. Pulled into its vortex for the ride. This record doesn’t pull any punches.

The recordings are drenched in visual imagery; they stimulate the senses and invite the imagination to roam. Ethereal, hazy memories of lost summers are triggered; the beauty of listening to music when driving along a deserted road in the Italian countryside lined with cypress trees heading towards the sun, and beyond. As the musical journey progresses, we even take a voyage to another planet. Whether these memories are real or constructed recollections of scenes from film and television, the tracks evoke a feeling of nostalgia and comfort. Like all the best music, 'The Globeflower Masters Vol. 2' takes us out of ourselves even if it's only temporarily.

To consolidate the shape of the sound, drummers Timmy Rickard and Ollie Boorman (who also featured on Vol. 1) and John Maiden (Tricky collaborator) sprinkled their magic and forged their stamps onto the recordings. Collaborating with other talented musicians contributed to the picture Mark and Glenn wanted to paint. The ‘Globeflower Master Vol. 2’ is a fitting tribute to the music they love and care deeply about and a glorious addition to their musical world.

I can relate to that,” band founder Dave Carlo says. “And I didn’t want to make everything specifically about me because when you do that, you exclude people. I wanted to include everyone that’s ever felt pissed off about anything.” An unrelenting slab of old-school thrash that showcases RAZOR's encyclopedic knowledge of the past along with Carlo’s growth as a songwriter, player, and lyricist, Cycle of Contempt is here to show that RAZOR are as dominating as ever.

Recorded in four different studios (Sound City Studios, American Studios, The Sunset Lodge and Hydeaway Studios) throughout 2006-2007, 4-Way Diablo is the seventh offering from legendary riff masters Monster Magnet.
