40th Anniversary Edition

-erste Wiederveröffentlichung dieser vergessenen Hardrock- und
Deutschrock-Perle aus dem Jahr 1982 -inklusive der raren 7“ Single von 1980 -aufgenommen im Olympia Studio, München (Amon Düül II, Oktagon, Zoff) Krautrock- und Heavy Metal-Sammler wissen es schon lange: Viele verborgene Schätze findet man in den regionalen Szenen der Siebziger und Achtziger. So sind die meisten raren Singles und Alben der NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, 1978-1984) von lokalen Acts, um bei Auftritten und im ansässigen Plattenladen etwas verkaufen zu können. Auch in Deutschland kann man fündig werden. Golden Core haben wie immer tief gegraben uns sind dabei auf Limerick aus Pirmasens gestoßen.

Limerick wurden 1978 gegründet und durchlebten bis zur Aufnahme
ihrer ersten Single „Hard Work“ / „Alaska Nights“ aus dem Jahr 1980
einige Besetzungswechsel. Diese Rarität, hier als Bonustracks zu finden, zeigt bereits mit der rockenden A-Seite, dass die jungen Herren dem Hardrock durchaus zugewandt waren, während die Rückseite an einige der damaligen Glamhelden erinnert. Eine durchaus gelungene und gerade heute sehr spannende Visitenkarte! Der Saarländische Rundfunk wurde auf Limerick aufmerksam und so spielte man 1981 beim Schülerfestival des SR1 (u.a. mit Thomas Orner) auf dem Johanner Markt und wurde vom Kultmoderator Manfred Sexauer unterstützt. 1982 teilte man sich in Saarbrücken bereits die Bühne mit Größen wie Kim Wilde, was die SWR-Sendung „Glaskasten“ auf den Plan lief, wo man in Folge mehrfach auftauchte. Der überregionale Erfolg winkte bereits, was auch Ralf Siegel nicht verborgen blieb, der sich für die Produktion einer LP einsetzte. Die LP „On Tour“ wurde in den Olympia Studios in München aufgenommen und enthält 12 deutschsprachige Eigenkompositionen. Das teilweise
durchaus harte und ruppige Material wurde 1982/1983 u.a. als Special
Guest der Climax Blues Band und der Teenie-Stars Speedy (CD/ LP-Wiederveröffentlichung auf Golden Core) vorgestellt. Vierstellige Besucherzahlen waren bei Limerick keine Seltenheit mehr. Außerdem
durfte man im bekannten Quartier Latin in Berlin auftreten. 1984 zerfiel
die Band, ohne sich offiziell aufzulösen. Beide Gitarristen wechselten zur Metalband Steel. Seit 2013 sind Limerick wieder im LP-Line Up aktiv und haben, erneut regional, eine neue Single veröffentlicht. „On Tour“ ist eine vergessene Perle des deutschen Hardrock, teilweise mit 70s-Schlagseite.

Vergleiche mit einigen Raritäten der NWOBHM sind nicht von der Hand zu weisen, auch wenn Limerick den Heavy-Pfad hier und da auch verlassen und dann perfekten Deutschrock bieten. Die LP und die Single wurden von Patrick Engel (Metal Blade, High Roller Records etc.) überspielt und von Neudi restauriert und remastert.

Auf ihrem neuesten Album "Symbol Of Eternity" spinnen sie die Geschichte der Kreuzritter weiter... nachdem sie sich bereits auf dem Album "Knights of the Cross" damit befasst haben, widmen sie sich nun erneut der der sagenumwobenen Geschichte der Templer.

Messerscharfe Riffs, opulente Chorarrangements und die markante Stimme von Chris Boltendahl sind Bestandteile von Grave Diggers neuem Werk. Im Frühjahr erschien das Kracher-Album „Monster Mind Consuming“ welches mit den Ohrwürmern „Ori Ori“ und „Heathens“ zu einem Meilenstein der Bandhistorie wurde. Nur knapp ein halbes Jahr später legten die Außnahmekünstler mit der „Nightcall EP“ nach.

Am 12.08.2022 entfesseln sie mit ihrem brandneuen Album „Kreatura“ die nächste musikalische Bestie, die bereit ist, die Charts und die großen Bühnen zu stürmen.

Almost four years later, on the cover of their second album, the band is standing
on the dike in Husum. In the background we see the Nordsee Hotel, which burned
out in the year of the debut's release. The looks of the band members reveal
friendly determination, which is very North German in its nonchalance.
Nevertheless, I don't doubt for a moment that Swutscher still know how to set
their surroundings on fire, even leave a trail of destruction. Their reputation is
legendary. Every person who has experienced Swutscher live knows that it is not
only a spiritual but also a physical experience. Reason down and thus lead it into
a wonderful dissolution of boundaries. This LP format is released on ltd ed cream

re-release "Deutsche Wertarbeit" ist das einzige Soloalbum der Düsseldorfer Keyboarderin und Komponistin Dorothea Raukes und ein lang vergessenes Juwel deutscher elektronischer Musik. Raukes, Mitglied der Rockband Streetmark, versammelte darauf sechs Synthesizer-Kleinode - mal hypnotisch, mal hymnisch, mal kosmisch. Erschienen 1981 auf Sky Records führt das Album mit seinem markigen Titel in die Irre. Statt teutonischer Stampfmusik ertönen sechs wunderschöne Synthesizer-Kleinode, welche die sogenannte Düsseldorfer Schule (Kraftwerk etc.), die Berliner Schule (Tangerine Dream etc.) sowie Anleihen an die Musik von Jean Michel Jarre kunstvoll mit Klängen der beginnenden 80er-Jahre vereinen. Manchmal hypnotisch, manchmal zuckersüß-melancholisch, manchmal treibend, manchmal kosmisch. Auch das kalt anmutende Artwork will irgendwie nicht so recht passen zu der warmen, einfühlsamen Musik, die ein wenig an die von Raukes' Streetmark-Bandkollegen Wolfgang Riechmann erinnert, etwa auf dessen Soloalbum "Wunderbar".

Das im Frühjahr 1996 produzierte Debütalbum "Kein Schulterklopfen (Gegen den Trend)" wird jetzt in einer limitierten, farbigen, 25 Jahre Edition Vinyl Version wiederveröffenlicht. Die Hamburger Band Rantanplan wurde im Herbst 1995 nach dem Vorbild von Bands wie Operation Ivy und den Mighty Mighty Bosstones gegründet. Die Punk-Ska-Gruppe um Torben Meissner (... But Alive), Markus Wiebusch und Reimer Bustorff (später beide Kettcar) entschloss sich sofort dazu, deutsche Texte zu singen, da Bustorff nur gebrochen Englisch sprach. Mit dem Bandnamen wollte man sich von damals kursierenden Namen wie Pitbull und Bullterrier abgrenzen und entschied sich daher für Rantanplan, den Hund von Lucky Luke, der dümmer als sein eigener Schatten ist.

In view of the immense Black Lives Matter mobilisation in reaction to the murder of George Floyd and the comparatively meagre societal reaction to the attack in Hanau, the question arises: How come our society does not show the same empathy and solidarity towards its own fellow citizens with Kurdish, Turkish, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Afghan migrant backgrounds or members of the Roma and Sinti?

How limited is our postcolonial discourse if we are unable to address the racist exploitation of those who repair our cars, deliver our parcels or harvest our asparagus?

It’s all a sham. Shake it off like a biometric photograph. Shake off that false consciousness. The Black Diaspora is a transatlantic lie invented by music curators and journalists. Embrace this nuanced return to structures and superstructures, to articulations and historical constellations as analytical tools.

Allow me to dampen your expectations. This is not the sound of decolonisation. This is no compilation of BLM protest songs. This is no celebration of Black emancipatory struggles. You will not be able to play this at your hip post-pandemic house party. This will not go down well with your woke friends. This is music for the square in the room. For that reluctant BAME/Person of Color repelled by your fetishisation of the African-American experience.

This is music for gated communities. This is Fehler Kuti singing of class relations, not of identities and positionalities. This is Fehler Kuti resisting.

Listen to these songs of infrastructure and appraisal of the welfare state. Join me in mourning the broken promises of prosperity for all. Send that “Ausländer“ of your mind to heaven. Colonialism fucked you up. Platform Capitalism is keeping you in chains. Are we to unionise all human and non-human workers at Amazon? Will modernity always have that "forever nigger“? What about those dispossessed field hands harvesting your asparagus?

All is lost. The system is rigged. Because all histories, gestures and identities have been absorbed into this late capitalist apparatus we call diversity. It can integrate anything and anyone. It made me. It is the price of the ticket. And it is unable to challenge its own premise of an atomised society. As if you and I had so little in common.

They will try and help you. They will build a museum for your history and a scholarship program for your future. I warn you. Don‘t let them give you a name. Resist appellation. Don’t get that German passport. Don‘t eat asparagus.

Musical pioneer Moby announces his new album Reprise, out May 28 on Deutsche Grammophon. Reprise sees Moby revisiting and reimagining musical highlights from his 30-year career. Together with the Budapest Art Orchestra, he has re-envisioned some of his most recognizable rave classics and anthems with new arrangements for orchestra and acoustic instruments. Chopin has long been at the heart of Martha Argerich’s repertoire and artistry and in June 2021, the musical world will celebrate the Argentine pianist’s 80th birthday which Deutsche Grammophon marks with this release of her complete Chopin recordings on the Yellow Label. The booklet includes liner notes by Wolfram Goertz on Argerich’ Chopin in English, German and French. The BDA is remastered in high definition at 24-bit and holds the following audiophile formats: Stereo DTS-HD MA 2.0 – 24 bit / 192 kHz. Surround DTS-HD MA 5.1 – 24 bit / 96 khz. Dolby Atmos – 24 bit / 48 khz.

Two new vinyl releases mark Martha Argerich’s 80th birthday in June: Her recording of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Charles Dutoit; and her 1984 recording of Schumann’s Kinderszenen and Kreisleriana. To preserve the greatest possible audio quality, the Schumann release sees a new split, presenting Kreisleriana, Parts 1-6 on Side 1 and Parts 7-8 on Side 2, followed by the complete Kinderszenen.

The fourth title in the April vinyl batch marks the 30th anniversary of the death of the incredible Helmut Walcha. His acclaimed interpretation of three Bach Toccatas and Fugues (BWV 565, 540, 538), and the Toccata, Adagio & Fugue, BWV 564, played on the Schnitger Organ at St. Laurenskerk in Alkmaar, Netherlands, is now made available again on Archiv Produktion.

New to vinyl and marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Igor Stravinsky is Pierre Boulez’ seminal recording with The Cleveland Orchestra (1992) of Pétrouchka and Le Sacre du printemps. The release is on 2 LPs to present the recording in the greatest possible audio fidelity.

Danach haben sich die Fans gesehnt: Nach langer Abstinenz kehren Muff Potter 2019 für eine Deutschland-Tour auf die Konzertbühnen zurück. Im Zuge dessen legt das Label Grand Hotel van Cleef vier Alben der Jahre 2000 bis 2007 auf Vinyl noch einmal auf. "Heute wird gewonnen, bitte" kam 2003 auf den Markt und katapultierte die Band mit raffinierten lyrischen Geschichten, Melodien zum Verlieben und einem kraftvollen, elaborierten und durchdachten Punkrocksound in die erste deutsche Indie-Liga. Während der Albumaufnahmen und der anschließenden Tour wurde Muff Potter von Jule März als Backgroundsängerin unterstützt. Sie verlieh den Songs, in die auch mal ein Glockenspiel oder Mellotron eingebunden wurde, eine völlig neue Note. Anders ausgedrückt: Die Tage der rotzigen jugendlichen Punkkapelle waren eindeutig gezählt. Passend dazu veröffentlichten die Münsteraner mit "Placebo Domingo" ihre allererste CD-Single. Gleichzeitig gab es mit dem ersten Videoclip eine weitere Premiere für die Gruppe zu feiern.

Jemek was never easy to read: Is he serious or is it all a
joke
With his new album »Jemek Jemowit is Doktor Dres« the one-man
band, DJ and conceptual artist that is Jemek Jemowit moves
between old-school rap, Southern trap and EBM, skillfully
mixed by the infamous hardcore techno legend Marc Acardipane.
Jemowit's anarchistic-dadaistic and often quite explicit
lyrics (there is a sticker on the front of the vinyl record
warning the listener of »swear words«) the, to quote the
artist, »post-patriotic« Jemek sings in Polish, the language
of his parents and in German, the language of the country he
grew up in, he studied in and in which he lives today.
On his last »hyper-patriotic« (Jemowit) EP »Tekkno Polo«
which came out on the Polish Label Oficyna Biedota in 2012,
Jemowit focused on Polish culture in Poland. On the Polish
market the Pole with a German passport, presenting music that
was recorded in Italy and which had used the Polish sub-genre
»Disco Polo«, the Polish equivalent to »Euro Dance«, as
template was an exotic. Subjects Jemowit touched were
national dishes like bigos or bizarre figures of Polish pop
culture. Was he serious or was it all a joke
Until today Jemowit finds it »remarkable«, without taking
sides, that Poles in Germany »so easily adapt, they seem to
merge into German culture so quickly«. On his new album
»Jemek Jemowit is Doktor Dres« which is released on the
Berlin-based label »Martin Hossbach« Jemek embraces the role
of the Pole in Berlin. In Polish, peppered with new word
creations and grammatical mistakes, he states that his alter
ego »Doktor Dres« (Dres is the Polish word for tracksuit)
leads a better live in Berlin that he used to do in Poland.
He often switches into the German language, too. In an
interview with label founder Martin Hossbach Jemowit said:
»I'm the perfect Pole in Germany who goes shopping at the
most expensive warehouse in West-Berlin, the KaDeWe, without
reproach and my German is pretty good, too!« He has now
become the person that »Tekkno Polo« reacted against with its
»hyper-patriotic« approach. Germany is now the sacred land
and on album track »Oryginalne Adidasy« he invites his fellow
Poles to come and visit him, he who »grew up between The Wall
and Moschino«, in Berlin and have Polish dumplings (pierogi),
made by Gucci at KaDeWe. »Endlessly bragging / Style without
class / Deutsche Mark / Oryginalne Adidasy« - this is Doktor
Dres' slogan and the read threat for Jemek Jemowit's new
album.
