Freitag's First Vinyl: The Beauty of Dueling Creative Energies

Almost Over is a first on a couple of fronts— it's the first finished collaborative project between Submerge and Ricardo Garduno, and it's Freitag's first release on vinyl.

But 'Almost Over'— what does this title mean, anyway Not as deep as you'd think; it comes from the first serious in-studio brainstorm between Submerge (Orlando Solis) and Ricardo Garduno, owner of Illegal Alien Records. After a gig one night they gathered at the studio, broke out the Heinekens, and got to work putting together the tracks that until now they'd only talked about.

Two days later the phrase 'almost over' had become a standing joke, summing up that common phenomenon of the artistic process when you think you're finished but then you see another thing that needs to be done . . . and another thing . . . and another thing . . . and another thing . . .

The happy result is four fantastic tracks that are deep, funky and energetic at the same time.

The title track is a subtle number with clicky, deep, dubby beats, a ton of atmospheric pads, and a long, silky breakdown that will take listeners on a deep and mindful journey. The flip features "Roots,' which takes a more sinister direction, dropping some of the up front package, with big, brash, percussive rhythms. This track has been played by many and has been featured on the CLR's podcast.

Grab it before everyone else does— it's sure to be one of those EPs that get talked about for the rest of the year!

Das Feuer von Katalognummer 001 ist noch am brennen, da legt Dominik Musiolik direkt die zweite Scheibe auf Audiothentica nach. Mit der Mellow EP gewährt der symphatische Frankfurter (in dessen Nachname bereits "Musik" steckt) tiefe Einblicke in sein klangliches Spektrum. Mächtige, druckvolle Bassdrums, perfektionistische Abmischungen, ständige Weiterentwicklung und Klangfärbung bis ins Detail kennzeichnen Dominiks musikalisches Schaffen. Die wundervollen, warmen Synthie-Flächen in "Mellow" wurden mit der eigenen E-Gitarre eingespielt. Dominiks markante Bassdrum lassen den Beat rollen und ein über-freundlicher Sub-Bass die Gedanken fliegen. Eine epische Nummer, die nun nur noch darauf wartet, sich in den Plattenkisten der Künstler und den Gehörgängen der Tänzer nieder zu lassen. Dieser Track kommt mit soviel Gefühl und doch so viel Druck daher, das er "gereifter" kaum sein könnte. Mit "Inspection" schließt Dominik den Kreis vom musikalischen zum bouncenden Techno - ein mächtig-pumpender Tune, sicke Voices, eine peitschende Clap und industrielle aber warme Flächen. Die Audiothenica 002 sollte jedes begeisterte Herz von authentischer, elektronischer Musik höher schlagen lassen. Wir freuen uns über den Zuwachs!

Catalogue-Number 001 still blows the fire and Dominik Musiolik directly drops the second one. With the Mellow EP the symphatic Frankfurter allowes deep insights in his tonal spectrum. Massive, pressuring bassdrums, perfectionistic mixings, but always continuing the own revolution and detailed tone-colouring signify Dominiks musical work. The wonderful, very warm synthies in "Mellow" has been recorded with the own E-Gitarre. Dominiks remarkable bassdrum makes the beat rolling and the super-friendly sub-bass let your mind fly away. An epic number, which only waits to take place in the cases of the artists and the ear canal of the dancers. This number comes with so much feeling but punsh, that it couldn´t be more mellow. With "Inspection" Dominik completes the circle between musical and bouncing Techno - A ponderous techno-tune with sick voices, a lashing clap and industrial but warm flats. This EP should make every heart of authentic electronic music beating faster. We are proud and happy to have Dominik with us!

Superb deep house massives out of Berlin from Joe Le Bon hailing from Finland. Continental atmospherics with subtle Chicago crunch sounds ! "Life Is A Bird" is a lush and beautiful deep house track, while "Spring '64" with its repetitious percussion and a touch of dramatic strings develops into a 10 minutes long epic. As a bonus there is 'Drumbum' - a dub- vapored composition which recently appeared on Pro-Tez's "Knights of the Sad Pattern" compilation and was previously unreleased on vinyl. Limited to 300 !

German DJ / Producer Joachim Spieth returns on Affin with a superb remix ep of his successful tune - Sensual' from the label's 100th release. Therefore Spieth included Brendon Moeller, Reggy Van Oers & Jamal Moulay. It's impressing to see the variety the guys put out of the original. Brendon Moeller (Echologist/Steadfast Records) comes up with flowing fx lines, fat stabs, nice added chords, just a massive reshape. Reggy Van Oers version is more on the chords. So this one tends to be a straight but very clear sounding techno trip you won't forget. Jamal Moulay shows a different insight on it. A fat kick, layered chords and some nice acid extracts on a base that seems to develop constantely. Nice rework. 'Sensual' original was already charted & played by Martin Gore (Depeche Mode), Scuba, Shlomi Aber, Samuel L Session, Jonas Kopp, DVS1, Electric Indigo, Agaric, Vidal, Patrick Siech, Steve Parker, and many more ...

- First time a female artist contributes musically to Anozer project... it's about time!
Canadian artist Jordan Dare delivered an intense and innovative original track for this release. Its slow tempo (118 BPM) gives it a very special groove, cold and punchy at the same time, with the proper 'Anozer' grain. Electric tones, heavy toms and retro synths are all over the place! Berlin-based Falko Brocksieper's interpretation is a power edit of 'Voice In The Wall'.
Much faster, much stronger and packed with extra-energy; it just sounds like the original track had 15 cans of concentrated Red Bull!
