The Berlin based art network and platform ‘ROH’ starts its first own music label. After positioning themselves in the berlin nightlife with several outstanding events, combining the force of interactive light installations, visual arts and electronic music, ‘ROH’ is now more than proud to present its first release: PHASE eins.
The first release showcases four of five current musical projects of ROH. Being exclusively created for this project every alias gets represented with two tracks. We are looking forward to present you every single project in the future with own releases. Ampère, DYN, Lumen and NOx come together for the first ever output.

DJ Nobu returns to his own Bitta label, his personal playground for new musical projects with a focus on artists coming out of Japan. The label functions as a space for experimentation with the intention of instigating multiple styles by unexpected artists or pairing them with stimulating remixers. The unique chemistry created by these cross-genre connections results in an exciting catalogue carefully curated and directed by DJ Nobu himself. After recent outings on Rush Hour, Token and BleeD, the Japanese producer dives even deeper into a pure and adventurous techno journey with his most simplistic output to date. A DJ tool EP designed for the club, with four tracks of stripped down yet powerful dance floor workouts. All cuts have been tested and proven in Nobu's own DJ sets before now, so he decided to make them available for fellow DJs to play and experiment with.

Nark, aka Kevin Kauer, has headed up the Bottom Forty imprint since 2017 working with artists such as Doc
Sleep, La Fracheur & Léonard de Léonard, Ali X, Ximena, Alisu and Shit whilst maintaining the philosophy
oflaying down tripped-out, eccentric productions without conformity. Inspired as a young gamer and fueled by
the inspirations of travel and gigs today, Nark has cultivated a set of sounds and ideas that have come
together to form his creations today which include releases on labels such as Nein Records, 2MR and Bottom
Forty in addition to remixes on Soul Clap, Friends with Benefits and Love Story. ‘Do You See Yourself’ sees
Nark invite Mexico’s Thomass Jackson who holds releases on Feines Tier, Gomma and his Calypso Records
imprint in addition to Ali X and Palomo.


Title track ‘Do You See Yourself?’ lays the foundations for the EP delivering entrancing modulations, chuggy
rhythms and eerie vocals taking small stabs at vanity culture, while ‘The Playing Field’ seethes rattling
percussion, acid fueled synths and hypnotic chanting alleviating the senses. The Playing Field’ was inspired by
a long night out listening to Optimo DJ in a dark warehouse and it was made later that morning as something
to fit into a long, building and cathartic set.


On the flip, Thomass Jackson’s remix of ‘Do You See Yourself?’ maintains the stirring style deploying stabbing
bass notes, meandering waves and undulating unearthly atmospheres until Ali X x Palomo round things off
with an infectious remix fusing shaky, 808 drums, effervescent grooves and bright 303 flavours throughout.

Matthew Herbert makes his debut on Ben Freeney's Foom label with "The Recording"-an EP written, produced and recorded in one week in Berlin in front of (and with the participation of) a live audience.

Opener "Day Three" is one of Matthew Herbert's most exuberant dancefloor tracks in a while, its rhythms awash with mischief and urgency. "Day Five" is all intricate, shuffling high-end, booming toms, reverb and piano, while the throbs, murmurs and restless percussion of "Day Seven" bring the EP to a close.

Created from start to finish during a week-long residency at the Tischlerei Deutsch Oper, all sounds used were recorded during the course of the residency.'

A stunningly accomplished work, ‘Deep Rave Memory’ is an insight into Fearless’ worlds – both metaphysical and geographical. Pulsating in unison with the heartbeat of a modern metropolis, it was recorded at the Metal Box’ – his studio located on the peninsula of land where the River Lea meets the Thames.

The haunting and wistful blue ambient ‘Vision of You’ leads into the bracingly chilly ‘New Perspective’, which evokes a heavy rush where perceptions are blurred and vision is freeze framed, via elements of techno-soul, Sheffield Bleep and Mika Vainio.

A snarling beast of a track, the relentless machine funk of ‘Devil on Horseback’ perfects the pure cathartic release of dark ‘n’ hot body music, whilst ‘Acid Angels’ is a throbbing low-fi 303 requiem, which encapsulates that perfect dancefloor moment, when the first light breaks through the shutters.

A future classic and the album’s modus operandi, title track ‘Deep Rave Memory’’s discordant filter passes sweep across a hypnotic melody, communicating a deep sense of warm nostalgia and taking you on an epic journey – stretching out a single riff over 12 minutes – akin to the krautrock greats of which Fearless is so fond.

‘Atlas of Insanity’ is big room techno with pounding kicks, death-whip metallic snares and head spinning, spiralling synth lines that drill into your core. This is raw, impulsive and frantic music that sizzles with electric effervescence.

The Germanic kosmische idyll of ‘Driving with Roedelius’ is a homage to one of Richards’ heroes – Hans-Joachim Roedelius – and was inspired by his experience playing a set consisting solely of the electronic pioneer’s music, at a festival celebrating his life and career.

On the album's closer, Fearless recounts, “‘Broken Beauty’ is something I’ve always strived for in my art. It’s inspired by Robert Frank, William Eggleston and the way they could take the most inane object a turn it into something of beauty. It’s equally schooled by the aggressive simplicity of King Tubby’s dubbing and the transcendence of Joy Division’s ‘Decades’. The sparse allure of the best dub and techno is something I’m always striving for; being able to conjure emotion with the fewest possible elements; to not fix what’s broken, but to make it shine.

Purveyor of chrome-plated cosmic funk and Berlin-resident Heartthrob returns on his newly minted ISNINST imprint to deliver three futuristic jams worthy of only the sleaziest of intergalactic parties. 'Discount Dancer' sets the tone, marrying the infectious energy of classic Roland grooves and maxed-out acid funk to compelling effect, cruising along under a relentless cowbell that acts as a rallying cry for the sordid revellers of his dreams. On the flip, 'Lets Talk About Reading' draws upon that prior energy and focuses it into a jacking homage to the fallen star of Paris Is Burning, Venus Xtravaganza, awash with crackling atmospheres and gauzy pads that serve as a stark juxtaposition to the militant drums and contagious bass line that underpin them. Sitting down and writing about our latest EP was a fun but challenging exercise, we scratched our heads and this may sound bad but we couldn't think of deep, dark interesting stories on how we made these tracks or what they represent. These jams are simply a combination of previous and random happy accidents that have come together and saying anything else would be a lie. This however does not mean that the thinking behind them is completely random, the three cuts that we selected for this EP we feel are a journey of experimentation and a culmination of unexpected sounds and feelings. A word that we found best described the EP was 'Irony'. The most ironic thing we feel is that the main basis of these tracks were born on the stage during our live performances and they have now been reworked and moulded into a record. We however feel that this brings an interesting element to the EP that yes it is recorded and set, but you are not quite sure where the next sound or feeling will come from. A hi hat A kick It is pure 'organised randomness'... I suppose we should talk about some of the music and try and explain what we mean! We start with 'Pe dos', which in plain English means inside out and it was a track that we had started back in 2011. We were flicking through our 'curiosity closets' one day and found it, we played around with it and heard a kick drum that was not arranged correctly in the sequence due to a random manipulation of the sequencer. Our first thought was to just change it, but then we decided to wait..... when all the other sounds of the tracks came together we threw the kick back in and BAM, Even the acapella voice of the track was screaming. Therefore it was a simple for us to name this track as we worked on it in a completely back to front and 'Inside Out' way!

Cryovac Recordings is a collection of artists with a personal style that bleeds through their work. Cryovac artists have a relentless energy and passion for the music called techno. Rebecca Goldberg twists the 303 around a relentless 4/4 groove that evolves tweaks and pops into a sonic neurosis. Her yin yang approach applies a smooth steady delivery moving parallel to a raucous funk. The collaborative effort of Andy Garcia and Mike Kretsch produced a techno with moody rises and falls, stark kicks, and eerie effects held together with heroic energy. Toms and knocks, digital barks and farts, random clicks and ticks all fall into a galloping composition.

Detroit’s Delano Smith joins My Baby Records to release two soulful originals including remixes from Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts and Chuck Flask & Keith Kemp.
Of the original crop of Detroit DJs, Delano Smith is now one of the last remaing. Coming up at a time when the world was just discovering the influence a DJ could have, Smith battled his way to the top in a tough scene full of talent. His story is long and intriguing, running parallel to many of the developments not just in music but society at large that have shaped our modern world. Delano has continued to DJ worldwide for many years whilst delivering quintessential releases on a consistent basis on labels such as Sushitech, Mixmode, Third Ear, and now My Baby Records following artists such as Remote Viewing Party, Rex Sepulveda & Acid Pimp and Mister Josooa & Rickers.
‘No Fear’ kicks things off with slick bass grooves. The rolling muffled vocals and smooth riding riffs blend together, providing this slick deep house cut with truly intoxicating atmospheres. ‘We Go Back’ delivers organic, stripped-back percussion balanced with soul-infused keys and mellifluous notes throughout the track.
Canadian producer Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts who’s known for releases on Circus Company and Musique Risquée provide a minimal remix of ‘No Fear’ laying focus on aquatic modulations, robust drums and reverberating low frequencies until the Motor City duo Chuck Flask and Keith Kemp round things off with a smooth remix of ‘We Go Back’ offering hypnotic rhythms fused with funk driven synths and shimmering jazz elements.

Bondage Music label-founders Pornbugs return to the imprint this September with their 'Pacho' EP, backed with remixes from Pablo Bolivar and Phillipp Gonzales.

Leipzig/Berlin based duo Pornbugs make a welcome return to their own label here with two new original cuts, 'Pacho' opens the package with stripped-back drums, a bulbous bass line and choppy piano chords running alongside a bubbling arpeggio lead and tension building stab sequences. Pablo Bolivar's 'Rawmake' of 'Pacho' follows, edging things into deeper territory with dropped tempo dusty drums, airy pads and an amalgamation of wandering, resonant synth lines.

The second half of the release, pencilled for release as vinyl only features another original from Pornbugs, entitled 'Larica' and featuring a similar aesthetic to the lead with fluttering dubby chords, a refined drum groove and unfolding atmospherics carrying the groove before label regular Phillipp Gonzales turns in his remix to complete the package, taking things in a more raw direction with heavily swung crunchy drums, pulsating filtered stabs and billowing vocal murmurs.

Malik Hendricks is a rhythmically inclined aesthetic enthusiast born in the 80's, and raised in the 90's. A DJ for over a decade, he has always approached music with a rigorous curiosity and views the dancefloor as the ideal arena for collective cultural appreciation, a place where the quest for knowledge meets the quest for experience. Dance is the true language of the body, and a gateway to the recognition of our shared humanity.

The next EP to land on VL Recordings comes from none other than the label chief himself, Hector.
Reanimating the label with a solid three-tracker named 'Rogue Traders', this is the producer's first solo dispatch on the imprint since his inaugural 'Jacuzzi Killer' EP in 2016.
'Rogue Traders' unleashes a torrent of brooding club cuts. Kicking off with the title track - a moody, cold-blooded weapon, and finishing on the thrumming bassline that supercharges 'Self Made', we're left feeling hellbent on finding Hector behind the booth.

Sämtliche Hirnstöme umpolend, wie da immer wieder dieses Hook-Echolot ins All rausfunkt und ortbar macht, wo der echte Rave zuhause ist. Und dann ist da noch - Heist' auf der Flipside, dessen Kick sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, pausenlos Backpfeifen zu verteilen, dessen Snare-Samples jeden Floor zusammen peitschen, dessen freidrehendes Break-Geklöppel augenblicklich hemmungslos macht und dessen anschließende Mono-Ton-Fanfare als endgültiges Signal zum Ausrasten in den Raum gestellt wird. Fort Romeau returns to Live At Robert Johnson with two epic proto-house cuts on his brand new EP titled Dweller On The Threshold.

Ever since his first exposure to euro-dance pop as a twelve year-old kid, Berlin native
Sascha Funke followed the siren call of electronic music. By now he has carved out a spot at
the forefront on leading edge dance music through delivering the goods. From his early
Bpitch and Kompakt years (Tracks like "Bravo" or "Mango" became some sort of
alltime classics), The Saschienne project with his partner in crime Julienne Dessagne aka
Fantastic Twins, his synth wave and post punk inspired album Lotus Land, twisted Piano
House on Turbo, Krautrock spheres on Multi Culti to hypnotizing psychedelic on Hippie
Dance.
The Genex EP is his first full on EP for Permanent Vacation (watch out for Vol.2)! Here,
Sascha proves once more that he definitely needs his own record shop section: three genre
