Nach SPANNERS ging das ursprüngliche Trio Ed Handley, Andy Turner und Ken Downie getrennte Wege - Handley und Turner gründeten Plaid, während Downie den Namen The Black Dog zunächst allein und später mit der Unterstützung der Brüder Martin und Richard Dust weiterführte. Str8 Crooked is clattering, chugging jack, holding something like Paisley soul under the water; Build Back Better Sweatshops is more driving, riven with breakdowns and horror-show vocal samples. With an uptempo downbeat which nonetheless sounds like a tolling bell, the epic, immersive, sixteen-minutes-plus Episcopi Vagantes pulls off the deadly combination of a kind of stifled, timeworn, melodic wistfulness and percussively restless, passing-through urgency.

This is killer dance music, run through with swingeing, parping bass and ruff b-boy drum-machine rhythms: encrusted and detailed, mangled and nervy, but intensely hard-grooving; wired with punk insouciance, edginess, and free spirit.

For the past ten years, the Bulgarian-Turkish artist Alper Durmush aka Impérieux has been carefully developing his artistic style and building strong momentum with a high-profile following.

Now the young Berlin-based producer enters a fresh chapter with his EP named “Extensions” on Sofia Records’s eight release. It is filled with brisk, forward-looking breaks, raw jungle attitude and highly combustible house. In all this we can still trace Impérieux's emotional signature interwoven into delicate soundscapes and ethno antics.


The place to kickstart this new direction is a symbolic one and in a way - coming back home. In his five-tracker, Impérieux keeps consistent with Sofia Records’ establishment as a breeding ground for hyper-energetic, yet intelligent sound.
And to do the honors, a signature stomping remix has been added by the label headmeister himself - KiNK.

Each of the artists on this release has engaged with and drawn from their experiences within the Detroit Electronic Music scene, and are excited and humbled to put forth this body of work. Showcased here are 12 tracks pressed on two 12" records, ranging in style from Techno and Electro to House and Minimal.

London-based electronic songwriter Ryan Lee West aka Rival Consoles to release his most personal work to date in the form of a mini-album titled ‘Night Melody’ through Erased Tapes on 5th August 2016. During the release of his acclaimed full-length album ‘Howl’ and heavy touring in late 2015, Ryan came out of a 13-year long relationship and found himself making music throughout the winter months. The result of his efforts is a 34-minute, 6-track mini album ‘Night Melody’, born out of and shaped by long hours working into the night. It’s nocturnal in sound; mysterious in the way that the early hours so often are.

“I found myself, in a silent home, with the days getting dark very early. I’ve never before in my life been affected by the lack of light so much. I just remember it always being night time. I would either make music into the night, go out drinking with friends, or go to parties and dance into the early hours, every day, week after week, month after month, until eventually the days became brighter again.” The opening statement ‘Pattern of the North’ starts off with a collage of spliced synth melodies, inspired by anxiety that accompanies going home for Christmas. It’s followed by ‘Johannesburg’, an early sketch gradually filled out during his tour in South Africa.


“After playing it around some of the cities, I got a lot of inspiration to bring it to life and push it into something that really moves me. I think this is one of my most colourful pieces of music, with its driving rhythm and almost a homage to Terry Riley’s ‘In C’ towards the end, with a build of very simple, hypnotic parts. I especially love that for over five minutes the piece is tied to just one note. This makes the ending very dramatic, because all of a sudden there is this harmonic change.” ‘Lone’ started life around the time Ryan was working on his ‘Sonne’ EP in 2014. It’s the result of constant adjustments to find the perfect balance of fragility and assurance. As everything on the album, it’s a carefully considered, emotionally mature piece. “I think, as I get older, I need music to represent something and not just sound interesting, though of course the two are connected.” The closing statement ‘What Sorrow’ is a fitting end to the album, building from gentle melancholia to a joyous crescendo. It’s a sensibility that’s central to the record; joy and sorrow both find their counterpoints.


“This record is very personal to me and I hope it offers something for other people, as it helped me to make it and to listen to it. Almost every synth line was recorded intuitively, without perfection but with a lot of intention and expression. I’m not interested in making something sad or making something happy. I want music to be bittersweet, to be more complex, like life – containing moments of vibrant colour and hope, as much as darkness and sadness.” This summer will see Ryan follow on from his recent North American Tour with the appearance at many festivals including Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, La Route Du Rock, Sea Change and Tale of Us-curated Afterlife party at Space, Ibiza.

The LP goes hand in hand with the reinterpretation of the Brazilian Koyapos tribe myth by Marcio Matos, a visual artist in charge of giving face and image to the mesmerizing Portuguese label Principe Discos since its inception

Im Jahr 2001 veröffentlichte die Berliner Techno-Pionierin Ellen Allien ihr Debütalbum Stadtkind. Jetzt wird es wiederveröffentlicht, zum ersten Mal in voller Länge auf Vinyl und komplett remastered. Das Album "Stadtkind" brachte ihre Beziehung zu Berlin zum Ausdruck und stellt die Blaupause ihres unverwechselbaren Stils dar.

Stadtkind markiert einen entscheidenden Moment in ihrem Leben, mit seiner Fülle von Stilen, die sich um ihren inspirierten Einsatz von Gesang und die unaufhaltsame Energie der Tanzfläche konzentrieren. Jeder Song ist zeitlos und entzündet auch 20 Jahre nach seiner Veröffentlichung den Dancefloor mit seiner düsteren, verführerischen Stimmung.

Tikita return with more of their deep and groovy techno, this time from Lapien, who is one half of Artefakt and a master of deep voodoo sounds. His 'Brumal' EP includes a remix from label mainstays natural/electronic.system. that completes a deep and powerful three track disc.

Lapien s 'Brumal' kicks off with deep, swirling pads and punchy drums. It s soft and atmospheric techno with a dubby bottom end and cosmic moods that is soothing and warm. The natural/electronic.system. remix of 'Moonset' is simmered down into an absorbing ambient soundscape with rolling, rubbery drums deep down below. It s thoughtful mind music to get utterly lost in. Last of all, the original 'Moonset' is another richly layered and spacious techno groove, with gentle percussion over underlapping drums and synths smearing out in all directions. It s brilliantly expansive music for intimate dance floors.

Key artist of the Lumie`resLaNuit (LLN) booking agency, David is also becoming a key artist for the label. Right after his remix of Roisner's 'Piano Roll' EP (LLN003) for the London-based label first year anniversary special release, David K is back with a solo EP: 'Wrung Door' (LLN004). According to David: 'Wrung Door oscillates between cold and warm, deep and groovy universes with a strong industrial touch, whereas Lightly Dark mimics the musical elements of Wrung Door but uses them in a different way in order to guide the listener to a different world. Finally, Broken Swatch is a rather narrative and lyrical track.'

In summary, 'Wrung Door' (LLN004) gathers in one EP the two different sides that Lumie`resLaNuit aims at developing: one refined and crisp and one dancefloor-driven.

On Mantis 11 she continues her established leftfield approach while also tapping into a particularly restrained, meditative mode which aligns with the loose ethos orbiting Mantis. Snaking, crooked rhythms plot a course through artfully sculpted reverb and delay - a skeletal, dub-informed sonic stamp shot through with especially expressive production, primed for dancehalls prepared to journey further in pursuit of full immersion.

Side A starts with an ol’ timey 4/4 tec- spiritual of crunch confusion rocking and clapping faithfully until the rapture of synth begets a righteous clarity of beat. A2 is a calm to topsy-turvy scurry through digital tweaks and stutters that form a havoc funk requiring a reprimand. B1 opens with the ringing energy of a pest highly motivated to infect a sickly synth, glitching yip, and rolling cymbal into the bloodstream of a dirty grind. B2 is a gentle vibe that is simple, clean, and fresh as a cool breeze that carries the rhythms of birds speaking in tandem.

A name already known within the Romanian minimal lovers; Sepp is visiting Praetorium imprint for an adventure in time and space under Seppsilvestri alias. The Searching LP follows Crihan’s opening album discussed earlier this year.

His latest album has been announced on Praetorium, making it the second outing for the conceptual label. As he spreads the LP over 6 tracks, a clear deviation from a familiar Sepp sound can be discerned as early as Beyond the Portal. He transcends an outer space exploration by the use of alienated sound patterns with every piece being another part of the expedition itself.

As the traveler crosses Beyond The Portal and gets Ready For Landing, A New Land is found, and one can start Searching The Area. A new life form is being found and they start Knowing Eachother, concluding to We’ll Live Together.

Not only this album is filled with atmospheric layers, but it also takes one’s mind at ease of traveling in his own chair. Praetorium is delivering stories to your ear-step and by doing so, a whole new gradient of sound can be contemplated while Sepp leaves no room for hesitation.

A1 goes by our chicago friends Ciphr (Max Jacobson and Christian Thomas) with some jazzy grooves and a hypnotic saxophone melody that can blow your head off, A2 in charge of the san diego gem producer John Manhard, soft house masterpiece, his way of processing sounds is something that still has us shocked, the sound in this track will make you realize the great work he dedicates in post production, B1 is a full electro vibe with some sick arpeggios layers over the track, great tune as always by the italian prodigy Riciar Ghir, perfect for starting the dancefloor move.
On the B2 as always we have someone from the honne music family and we can not be more than happy with the vinyl debut of our beloved Costa that has given us a track in which you can feel all the fury and desire to raise his hand and tell the world that he is ready for everything involved in the music production, this is a perfect track for peak hr time.
