"When Saved Records boss Nic Fanciulli approached making a mix for the Balance series, his watchword was "timeless." The first of the two CDs here leans mostly on tracks from the last year or so, varying in style, but threaded together seamlessly enough so that each of the 27 tracks seem to complement each other almost perfectly. Opening with what would be classed as a traditional intro—the atmospheric "Raindrops" by Luca & Bruno—Fanciulli gently coaxes the listener in before picking up the pace, working his way from the louche "Goma" by Iron Curtis into more dance floor-orientated deep house with Franck Roger and Mandel Turner's anthemic "After All." From there on in he threads together a batch of music that seems to pertain to his "timeless" intentions, Ricardo Villabos and Jay Haze's inimitable "Fenlow" finds bedfellows in Quell's garage-tinged "Joy" and Igor Vicente and Vernon Bara's Visionquest release "Don't Feel No Way."

Fanciulli's wealth of experience shines through throughout the mix, displaying a slick approach to mixing and confident transitions between styles. But what underpins it all is the simplicity of his composition: he doesn't try too hard to overdo things, with the mix flowing organically and reaching a natural conclusion with modern anthem "Here's Your Trance Now Dance" by Omar-S.

CD two is a showcase for Fanciulli's label, Saved. A further 26 tracks feature, with nine remixes recorded especially for the mix. In keeping with the label's ethos, there's representation from both the older heads (Stacey Pullen, Rolando, etc.) and younger talents like Robert James, Clio and Samu.l. The latter makes his presence felt with "Forgiven," which cheekily "borrows" the riff from MK's 1993 classic remix of "Can You Forgive Her" by the Pet Shop Boys. From the more populist house productions at the beginning of the CD there's a logical progression through to more uncompromising rolling techno, like Fanciulli's own remix of "Definition" by Loco Dice. It's a distinct switch up, but it in no way feels awkward as the unrelenting beats creep in and start to pound. Fanciulli's skill has always been in his ability to weave between these things effortlessly, with keen attention paid to transitions. He brings this to bear on Balance 021 in triumphant fashion. "

Emerson Todd is our prized import from New Zealand. Since settling in Berlin, he's become a valuable team member at the Upon You headquarters, improving our English by cracking jokes and also assisting in the studio with technical needs. The man with a plan! Back in NZ he produced some well-known bands, but his relocation to Berlin sparked his specialization in tech-house. The results of his work have been heard on several labels including Cocoon and Saved Records, but for his third EP he returns to Upon You, once again showing his keen interest in funky sample work, pulled from his dusty vinyl collection. A1 'Inside Out' and A2 'Streetwalker' exhale radio moments from the past, but bolstered by the contemporary construction of modern power tools. The B-side is a winning remix harvested from the Thuringian Forest with a pounding climax, custom built by Mr. Mathias Kaden.

Around 3 weeks before the release of Oliver Deutschmann's double cd Slim Audio Wax01 comes as an ‚appetizer' for that multimediapackage. We see the brilliant Christopher Rau and Moomin team up for the drum fuelled deepness of 'A Place at Night', Deutschmann himself at his most retrospective in 'Tourist Crap and Milton Bradley delivers his experimental and ‚sick' interpretation of Oliver Deutschmann's Tourist Crap track. New York City based DJ/Producer/Remixer/ Harry Choo Choo Romero brings us his debut single release on Ovum. Harry has been on board for remix projects on the label, but it is finally time for him to unleash a monster single on the label. On the A side, Harry brings us “Phuture”, which is a main room monster. This has been Josh Wink’s secret weapon for sometime and now it is available to you. Built around a computerized female vocal, Harry shows why he is the master of a driving groove. This driving track should destroy any dance floor. On the B side we have enlisted label friend Joris Voorn for the remix. Joris has taken an already big sounding track and added a turbo charger. The remix is a complete roller and Joris has taken a dubbed out approach with it, but still keeping the main build vocal. Two great tracks that should be rocking all the festivals and Ibiza all summer as the 15 Years Of Ovum celebration continues on!

After the great response from our first release on 1:53.2 with Cari Lekebusch under his pseudonym as Jade Mantis and Zoe Xenia we continue with the second release of 1:53.2 with another one of our heroes: Jesper Dahlbäck!

A man that needs no presentation with some of the most seminal releases in dance music history to his name. Except for releases under his own name, Jesper Dahlbäck is the man behind producing a series of hits for artists like Tiga. With releases on Turbo Recordings, Mobilee Records, SVEK, Drumcode, H-Productions and his own ISL records he is one of the most respected guys in this game.

For this release Jesper brings us an 80s disco flavored House EP that has got summer vibe written all over it!

The lead tracks Miffo and Donna are beautiful house tracks that takes your imagination on a ride to early morning sets.
Tanden is a very cleaver toolish techno track that Jesper has been using for years in his sets. We are very happy and proud that he has chosen 1:53.2 as the label to release this frequently asked for track.

Unclear 002 comes from Francisco Allendes, already well known in the underground scene, thanks to releases on Cadenza, Kling Klong, Viva Music..

The Works of Conrad Schnitzler will always be important. Not only for m=minimal. Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer were so fascinated by the - Zug' that they immediatly accepted to deliver two reshapes of this milestone of electronic music. (We already released Zug on vinyl - mm-001lp) Max Loderbauer is a veteran of the Berlin "techno" scene, who became known with his project "Sun Electric". For his current project NSI and as a member of the "Moritz von Oswald Trio" Max Loderbauer enjoys a worldwide reputation. His great cooperation with Ricardo Villalobos, for the legendary ECM label, appears in many "Best of 2011" lists.

The dynamic Italian duo MACROMISM is back with the first proper EP on Kling Klong after several releases on labels like Break New Soil, Sci+Tec, Kiara, Monique etc.

Their remix for Tony Dee's 'Tamazoo' became such a big success for Kling Kling it was just a natural move that these guys need their own release. And yes, they produced three grande bombas which are tested by the Kling Klong maestros Martin Eyerer & Rainer Weichhold since weeks.

And we are very grateful for another brilliant youngster from Italy who found the time to deliver an outstanding remix: ALLI BOREM made it happen, right after the release of his latest Desolat EP.
