Truss continues his recent run of form with a 12" on Our Circula Sound that demonstrates the depth and
breadth of his palate. Auden's slow burning groove and metallic dub call to mind Silent Servant's Historia Y Violencia
imprint, while Splot's distorted kicks and frantic pace blur the lines between Truss' sound and his current MPIA3 project.

Christian Löffler is co-founder of Ki Records and well known for his intense, deep moving sound with melancholic undertones. He started to play music at the age of 14. But living in a secluded region near the Baltic Sea, without a musical surrounding, he had to teach himself the essentials of making electronic music. After several stunning releases for Ki and Orphanear, the imprint of Dial's co-founder Pawel, his debut 'A Forest' is now being released through Ki.

Marc Romboy has been in the music biz for over a decade working behind the scenes on dance music labels such as Alphabet City, Terminal M or PSI-49-Net. His latest project is Systematic Recordings which he set up in 2004 and has quickly become one of the top electrohouse imprints.

Christian Smiths Tronic label enjoyed a fantastic year in 2011; persistently receiving plaudits from the media, scene tastemakers and the record buying public for the labels consistently first-rate output that consisted of a genre-blurring mixture of tech house and progressive flavoured techno floor-smashing grooves.
The ongoing game of producer ping-pong between Christian Smith and Marc Romboy continues with this latest match up happening on home soil for Tronic.

The pattern began with Romboy's 'The Overture', which surfaced on Smith's Tronic label last March together with a stunning Egbert remix. The rematch came in the form of Christian Smith's end-of-night smash 'Pitanga' on Systematic, which topped the Beatport techno, chart over the end of summer
2011.

With the score at 1-1 it is apt that the two long-established tech
heavyweights put aside their competitive streak and instead collaborate on this release with Smith remixing Romboy's fist-punching nu-school raver, 'Feelin'.

Here we are with 2nd release of the Geneva based label CADUCEUS RECORDS!
Quenum and Lad old friends are joining their forces for the 3rd time to make a beautiful trippy track called 'ITHACA' in reference to the greek poem of Cavafy . This long melodic exposure is completely suitable for dance floors with strong and powerful bass groove mixed with subtle harmonies and melodic sequences.
The track gives us this idea of a voyage full of adventure and full of discovery. And as the moral of the history says what is important in life is not the destination but the path. It's also true in music. Think about it.
We have also the honor to have a beautiful rmx of the master of the genre Petar Dundov. He borders with sublime with his interpretation of what 'Ithaca' should be....

I-Land is Radiomentale's first real album. Since their debut in 1992 within the rave and techno scene, the DJ and
sound artist duo founded by Jean-Yves Leloup and Eric Pajot was indeed rather illustrated with mixes, sound
montages and collages (see discography), presented in the form of radio broadcasts, cinemixes, performances
or audiovisual installations. I-Land shows another aspect of Radiomentale's work. The album gathers three
recent original compositions, each one lasting twenty minutes. Mixing vocals with field recordings (natural and
urban sounds) and electronic sounds, as well as revealing a rich and poetic universe, halfway between ambient,
electro-acoustic and sound art. The characteristic features of Radiomentale's sounds remain untouched: human
vocals, immersion and hypnosis aesthetics, cinematic climate, sense of narration and atmospheres.
Created in 2011 for the radio show Tapage Nocturne presented by Bruno Letort on France Musique, and
completed during the summer 2012, Smooth Operator is inspired from work produced by the two artists for the
movie Carré Blanc (2011), directed by Jean-Baptiste Léonetti. This "dystopian" science fiction full-length movie
(describing an anti-utopian universe like the movies THX 1138 or Soylent Green) called for a futuristic society
oddly similar to ours, in which all collective spaces were equipped with a soundtrack composed of natural sounds
and electronic manipulations, supposed to cancel out the conscience of its inhabitants. Therefore, the sound
piece recalls in an abstract way the figure of a strange operator who, from his control room, creates aural
landscapes aiming to manipulate the minds. As for Sinking, it was recorded live in 2012 on France Musique, once
again on the invitation of Bruno Letort for Ars Acustica, a European radiographic event gathering a network of
artists and broadcasts dedicated to sound art. Here, bits of vocals, poems and monologues create a piece in the

Hello Repeatís 20th release comes from act that couldnít be closer to the label, but at the same time has never appeared on it: Others. The duo consists of Daze Maxim, Hello Repeatís co-founder next to Jan Krueger, and Bruno Pronsato, the acclaimed ìromantic technoî artist behind the labelís first album, 2007ís Why Canít We Be Like Us (plus numerous records since then on DFA, Telegraph and his own imprint, thesongsays).

Assemble Music returns with a three-track EP from Cologne's David
Joseph aka St. Joseph, exploring further the refined, tripping path
forged on the label's previous release from Daze Maxim. The pianos,
vocal snatches and ambient hiss of Joseph's releases on Platzhirsch
are present and correct, but here the jazz flourishes are reduced down
into something far slicker.
These tracks have been prepared using a keen blade, and none sharper
than 'Personal Dancefloor'. Heavy drum programming and a rumbling
bottom end bring to mind Theo Parrish in his moodier moments, but the
deal is sweetened by light piano, garage-like vocal samples and a
deep, Burning 4 Love bassline.
'Indigo' spins the Duke Ellington classic into a spiralling, shuffling
chugger that will bring a 30s Harlem spirit to enterprising
dancefloors. Move the needle to the B2, though, for the EP's party
hit. Written in 2009 and reflecting that year's raw arrangements and
joyous samples, 'Wave/Table/Muscle' finally gets a vinyl release,
proving this sound endures to this day.
Expect more of the same from Assemble Music with their next release
featuring Vera and Ricardo Villalobos.

Chile's Felipe Venegas first entered the Cadenza foray in 2009 when he co-produced the magnificent 'Llovizna EP' with Francisco Allendes. It was a magical house EP, full of warm summery grooves like its lead track 'Llovizna', which combined stunning sultry female vocals with a gorgeous deep melody. Venegas followed that up with the solo effort 'I Ching' last September, which featured two very different tracks - one driving mainroom house cut, and one deep and dirty afterparty sleaze bomb, so he is clearly a producer capable of many different shades of house. Now Venegas returns to Cadenza with perhaps his most daring EP yet. The title of the EP and its lead track, 'Ritmical Baco', comes from the name of a band from Santiago, which Venegas was once a part of. As he explains, 'I played guitar and keyboards for the band, and our sound was influenced by jazz and funk artists like Miles Davis, Joe Sawinul, Chick Corea, Return to Forever, and Los Jaivas, who were one of our most important influences.' You can feel that kind of raw improvisational band way on 'Ritmical Baco'. The groove is free flowing, and its beats flood the spectrum like a river that has burst its banks. Whilst the arrangement seems unbridled and wild at times, it never turns to mud, because Venegas is a skilled conductor at the helm of it all. The different rhythmical elements that he adds to the mix ebb into pleasing waves of harmony and peace. 'Ritmical Baco' is a colourful jungle of club sounds, but it also one that is carefully nurtured. The EP's second track, 'Orumila' is a traditional chant from South America, dressed up a modern structure that some might identify as the Cadenza house style. 'The chant is an ode to the black divinity, the god of renovation, hidden forces and change,' explains Venegas. The track is rather spooky in places, but it carries enough musical charm and warmth to convince you of its ultimately higher purpose. Transcendental, this could be, with the right, ahem, stimuli. F

Es wird immer eine Bassdrum geben, die die Menschen zum Tanzen bringt, aber sie wird nicht immer gleich klingen. Techno und House sind in einem kontinuierlichen Fluss. Es wird immer Leute geben, die feiern. Und es gibt jedes Jahr neue Kids, die in die Szene eintauchen, hungrig nach Vergnügen, Schönheit, Ekstase - hungrig nach dem Leben! In den letzten Jahren hat sich Ibiza zu einem der Zentren moderner elektronischer Tanzmusik entwickelt, und eine Schlüsselfigur dabei ist zweifelsohne Sven Väth. Die Mittelmeerinsel und er haben es zusammen schon weit gebracht. Bereits als Jugendlicher erlebte er die flamboyante Atmosphäre des Nachtlebens auf der Insel und wurde in Dimensionen des Vergnügens katapultiert, wie er sie in seiner Heimatstadt Frankfurt so noch nicht gesehen hatte. 1999 entschied sich Väth, etwas von der Energie und Inspiration, die er von der felsigen Insel mit dieser einzigartigen Atmosphäre bekommen hatte, zurückzugeben. Immer den Blick auf qualitativ hochwertige Musik gerichtet, hat Väth eine neue Art der Partyerfahrung etabliert, indem er eine Reihe passionierter Musiker und Aktivisten um sich geschart hat - und dieses Cocoon-Ibiza-Abenteuer findet im Jahr 2012 bereits zum (aM) CD 1-13 Mal statt! Als Zeremonienmeister lädt sich Sven Väth immer einen Mix aus langjährigen Begleitern und aufstrebenden Talenten ein, als DJ wiederum scannt er sich mit schlafwandlerischer Sicherheit durch eine riesige Menge neuer Musik. Er hat dabei schon so manchen akustischen Schatz ausgegraben und diesem in der von ihm geschaffenen perfekten Umgebung zu voller Entfaltung seines Potentials verholfen.

Die (aM) CD 1-13 Saison wird mit Thomas Hoffdings vielversprechender Stimme eröffnet, subtil arrangiert von Terranova. Die Grooves des jungen Produzenten wAFF sind danach stabiler und anspruchsvoller, die erotische Frauenstimme lockt uns tiefer und tiefer in den Cocoon hinein und bringt die emotionale Dichte dieses klassischen New York House so richtig zur Geltung. Aber niemand schafft es, die Kräfte das Basses so rückhaltlos zu entfesseln wie der Berliner WK7, der das Set in eine technoidere Richtung rückt. Die Tumulte auf der Tanzfläche werden dann von Margots mäanderndem Acid-Track vorweggenommen und die Tuff CIty Kids schieben das Ganze mit ihren bemerkenswert anspruchsvollen Akkorden nochmal so richtig an. Die einzigartigen Soul-Grooves von Octave One betonen danach einmal mehr die zügellose Kraft der Synthesizer und Ben Sims raffiniert-glatte Sounds bändigen die Aufregung des Hörers etwas, während mysteriöse Piepstöne über der Tanzfläche schweben, als wären sie eine akustische Skulptur. Sam Paganini geht sogar noch weiter in diese Richtung und überrascht die Tanzenden mit Sounds aus einer anderen Galaxie. An dieser Stelle käme wohl normalerweise dann der riesige Breakdown, der die Crowd vollkommen um den Verstand bringt. Nicht so bei Väth. Er verschmilzt Tracks von Sawlin, P.A.S. und Exercise One und komponiert so eine sehr kraftvolle Sequenz: sich immer weiter steigernd, gleichzeitig aber vollkommen gefasst, reicht dieser Teil weit über das hinaus, was sich mit dem normalen Vokabular des Peaktime-Techno beschreiben lässt. Schließlich löst sich das erste Set in den Tribal-Grooves von Silent Servant und der poetischen Klangwelt Ray Kajiokas auf und kommt zum Ende.

Die zweite CD beginnt völlig anders: mit süßen House-Sounds von Makam, unschuldig und doch voller Andeutungen. Die Anziehungskraft und Grazie des Dixon-Edits von Romanthonys Klassiker "The Wanderer" zieht die tanzende Menge dann vollkommen in ihren Bann, und mit &MEs irritierenden Alien-Sounds wird dann der ideale Kontrapunkt dazu gesetzt. Julien Bracht fordert die Crowd mit Broken Beats und verführt sie gleichzeitig mit einer sehnsuchtsvollen Vocal-Linie. Die Einfachheit der hypnotisierenden Melodie von Alejandro Mosso entwaffnet den Dancefloor schließlich komplett. Die mitunter etwas schwer greifbaren elektronischen Sounds eines Lawrence ergießen sich auf die Tänzer wie ein Mittsommerregen. Der rumänische Cocoon-Hero Rhadoo tritt dann etwas auf die Bremse und versetzt den Dancefloor in eine unwiderstehliche Bewegung. Wie nur wenige andere Künstler, schafft es der Frankfurter Roman Flügel, die Sprache der elektronischen Tanzmusik in Frage zu stellen. Er verschmilzt Geschichte und Zukunft der House-Musik in der humorvollsten Art und Weise, die möglich ist. Etwas weg von diesem Sound bewegt sich dann der britische Musik-Querdenker Four Tet und schlägt damit einen ziemlich anspruchsvollen Ton an. Die schweren, basslastigen Akkorde von Four Tet gehen danach in Uners vielschichtigen und transparenten House über, aus dem Sonne und Licht nur so herausstrahlen. Gathaspar vereint die unterschiedlichen Energien in einer alles durchdringenden Soundlandschaft. Soy Mustafa und John Tejada haben das letzte Wort und nehmen den Dancefloor durch ihre jenseitige Gelassenheit mit auf die Reise in eine andere Welt. Am Ende ist die Musik nur ein Teil des Abenteuers. Sven Väth schafft es, eine einzigartige Beziehung zu seiner Crowd herzustellen und führt uns durch Erfahrungen wie kein Anderer.

Italian duo Macromism has lately been making waves in the scene with their latest releases and they land now on Be As One together with their long time friend DJ Kool Dek, who already appeared on the label's Tools For School Vol.3 With Take The Rhythm Ep the trio push things forward and show their versatility in the production room. The A-side hosts 2 cuts of proper groovy tech-house as you would expected from this collaboration. The B-side goes instead deeper and shows a side of the trio that yet was to explore.
