Jacek Sienkiewicz Already 32nd release on Recognition Records is a very special one - as two great individuals join forces for a pretty special cause. Produced together with the Goethe Institut in Warsaw, the records aims to celebrate 200th anniversary of the birth of Richard Wagner - the extraordinary composer, whose attitude towards any contemporary music medium was as much shocking, as inspiring. The label boss Jacek Sienkiewicz invited his companion Uwe Schmidt (known also as Atom ™, Atom Heart, Senor Coconut and a myriad of other disguises) to take a look at Wagner's work - and here we are, with two totally different, but equally challenging variations on a theme. Atom TM's tune is a majestic, classically-composed ambient piece, inspired by the famous Tristan Chord from Wagner's opera, 'Tristan & Isolde". This track goes a way from quiet to almost bombastic, and for any means dramatic, which makes perfectly sense here. A serious, somewhat sordid, electronic tale of loss and separation, driven to o point of stubbornness rather than resignation, it fits the theme perfectly, at the same time being a very special addition to Atom's vast catalogue. On the flipside, Jacek Sienkiewicz goes all deep techno in his epic 'The Phantom Of Bayreuth". So much different than Warsaw producers' recent, complex work, it goes straight for some haunting string arrangement, soon underpinned by a muffled, minimal groove. Both main layers shift and intertwine, illustrating, as Jacek puts it, 'the struggle, the drama, the passion one can find in Wagner's music". Retro was the by far most overworked musical term in all areas house and techno. And well, we have to admit it it: So is this release by our new player MATT JOHN and his debut for Cocoon Recordings. However, this time "retro" works a bit different. It's Sheffield, Warp, the early Hacienda- and LFO-days that are shining through here. No massive Kink-like-909-programming, no Chicago- and no New-York-house revival and finally not just another London- and Berlin-hipster-soundtrack. We are talking northern sound inspired techno here, dark but hedonistic, analogue synths and for those who
remember: A Certain Ratio feeling all over the place! Of course this is what we hear here and what we feel and we have no idea if Matt John did all this on purpose but to be honest: We don't care! This is great, this is good, this is techno as we like it and most important: This is hard to find these days. So let the show begin, ladies & gentlemen here comes MATT JOHN!

After 6 months with only digital releases, I'm really proud to annouce the
new JETT Records vinyl.
I was looking for a very special sound for this new one and Miyagi gave
me these 2 amazing tracks 'Hitchrock' and 'Night Fever'. Both are pure
driving tunes made for kill the dancefloors. I was already a Miyagi's sound
follower and also a great fan of his label (Rennbahn Records), but now I can
say that Miyagi is, without a doubt, one of the most promising artists from
Germany.
On the remixers' side nothing less than famous Moodmusic manager
Sasse, and smart Tech House producers Andreas Henneberg & Daniel Nitsch
aka The Glitz. Both reworks show how these guys know their job. Nothing
more to say, just listen.

Birdsmakingmachine brings us the second instalment of their recently launched Series with another four tracker of mysterious minimal house cuts that hook the listener with their constantly building beats, evolving grooves and melodies. While 'Wild Carrots' starts off the EP with a hypnotic yet musical journey through effect-laden rhythms, 'Lost Inside' follows as a stripped down groover with eerie melodies haunting the beat playfully. On the flip we find 'Nest Rocking', a juggling piece growing with percussions and ambient pads and lastly 'Recipients', an early inspired gem with an intricately funky bassline and electric organs.

Kisk & Jacky O make a smashing debut on Pro-Tez records.  The Duo previously released their music on the Apparel Label run by Kisk. This limited to 300 copies 12' has prime examples of their lushly spirited, sincerely grooving productions that got a lovely identity of their own. With a brilliant Roy Gilles' treatment of the track and Kjofols minimal version the 'Upside Down' EP is sure to satisfy you on long walks in European metropolises, basement clubs and intimate home listening alike.

After launching Save The Blessed with 'Don't Touch The K:raal EP'-a two-track release from Francesco "Belfie" Belfiore, complete with remix from Restoration's Xenogears (aka The Analogue Cops)-comes the fledgling vinyl-only house's second instalment, which sees S.T.B. head team up with Rush Hour mainstay San Proper. For a decade San Proper has enjoyed cult status in Holland, particularly in his hometown of Amsterdam where he cut his teeth spinning eclectic sets long before taking to the studio. Production-wise, since joining the Dutch electronic institute with his 'Amsterdam Family' series back in 2007-which saw San Proper collaborate with a medley of known and unknown producers-he has continued to impress with his heady, idiosyncratic take on house and disco, formulating a recognisable live sonic signature that came to a head on his debut full length 'Animal', released last summer. 'Faulkner EP' consolidates Save The Blessed's dedication to analogue craft with an original dubbed-out house work from Francesco Belfiore, rearranged by San Proper on the B-side in token eccentric fashion with vocals and thrumming guitar-redolent bass. For sound aficionados and quirky night owls who enjoy a hefty dose of underground with their wonky, well formed house.

U6-Schallplatten, aiming at the success of its parent Treibjagd-Records, presents its second release: Vogelfrei (which is german for "free as a bird"). Programmed by Lucas Mayer and Manu Nöth, two young and talented producers from southern bavaria. With the Fractal EP, we proudly present you the first co-production of the chilean artist Aldo Cadiz and the spanish Oscar Barila on our label Deep Circus!
Both artists have a history of successful releases and projects, on labels such as Kling Klong, Bondage, Viva Music, Plastic City, Einmaleins and many more. A few months ago, the single Reconst by Aldo Cadiz was released on the Loco Dice label Desolat. Oscar Barila, born in Valencia, should also be well-known through his successful work as A&R of his own label My Little Dog. In 2012, he released his album Parallel Minds on Plastic City.
With the original tracks on the Fractal EP, Aldo and Oscar provide us with a harmonious, groovy piece of work, merging the sounds of Deep House and Tech House. Italian artist Alex Costa provided the original track with even more power in his interpretation and made it a peaktime burner. The second song Menisko was remixed by Raphael Dincsoy and Pierre Deutschmann and became a dark techno track in their edit. Enjoy!

Frole Records presents the second vinyl release, this time a producer from the Netherlands. Detache is a young producer influenced by Detroit, deep house and modern techno. 'U010011' is the typical Detroit track with an undoubted feeling to it. Featuring a dubby atmosphere, playfull synths & dreamy pads. The remixes are made by Anonym (Sushitech) and Francesco Bonora (Abstract Theory) & Mirko (Etichetta Nera) who are staying in this dreamy realm. The track is made at a lakeside which is portrait by the artwork. 'Valley of Shadows' is a deep track that is characterized by the dub sound from Berlin. A solid tune full of deep chords and pads that transcends the mind.

As the London & Berlin based somethinksounds imprint approaches a tenth release since its inception in 2010 we've learnt that although you can never be too sure of what they are going to serve up next, you can be sure its going to be of the highest quality. Whether it be unearthing exquisitely produced IDM by Lucky Paul, future house sounds from rising stars such as Eliphino and Ossie (Black Orange Juice) or straight up club bangers by some of the biggest hitters in the game (Gadi Mizrahi of Wolf + Lamb); this time they deliver what could be one of the most infectious vocal drops of 2012 on Artifact'¼s sensational double A-side The Way It Do/We Trapped.

For the tenth release somethinksounds step back into a ring where they certainly feel very comfortable and present an artist tipped by many a tastemaker including Clash and also Resident Advisor (in a 'Breaking Through' article earlier this year) to be making big waves soon. With releases on Local Action and Rebirth, Bristol boy Artifact has certainly been making a big noise with his futuristic fusion of house, techno and garage. Put simply The Way It Do is a bold statement of intent. Aimed directly at the centre of the dance floor this one oozes with production finesse far beyond the young producer's years. Skipping tams and snapping snares ride alongside haunting synth melodies whilst the percussion section layers intricately amidst a world of abstract sounds. The tension continues to build until it culminates in a monster vocal drop sure to have people going nuts on the dance floor. Clubbers, you have been warned. It's a double A-side for a reason and therefore the intensity does not let up on the flip with We Trapped providing yet another peak time monster filled with yet more expertly layered, extra terrestrial percussive elements. A tuned rim shot drives the track along throughout but its another very well selected vocal sample which provides the main hook. Hotly tipped Manchester native Damu steps up for remix duties with an interpretation of The Way It Do, delivering an indefinable cut filled with pure analog intensity. Skittering percussion melded flawlessly with bubbling bass lines and otherworldly synth melodies equates to a captivating listen.
