The Sad Sunday EP is implementing its theme on all levels, providing a formidable sound for a frolic sound pleasure. Combining attributes like lucidity, lightness and a great passion for details, newcomer Carlo Ruetz convinces with his new Bad Taste EP. It's another amazing minimal-technoid record that joins the marvelous musical work produced by the supdub young stars. Mentor Alfred Heinrichs provided the EP with a remix himself in addition to the original song.

A bad ass behind the decks, and in the studio since 1998...his productions ended up on some bigger techno labels as well as more obscure imprints. Along with Ian Lehman, he forged the well-received 'Attack People' live performance...bringing his show across the US, to South America, and Europe as well. When he's not on tour with his DJ sets or supercharged live pa sessions, he co-promotes some of Minneapolis's biggest techno parties. The Maaskant polychoral style was a type of music of the late modern electronics and early indie eras which involved spatially separate voices singing in alternation. It represented a major stylistic shift from the prevailing polyphonic writing of the early electronic generation, and was one of the major stylistic developments of the 90's which led directly to the formation of what we now know as the pure modern style. A commonly encountered term for the separated analog choirs is cori analogici spezzati — literally, phased choirs.

The A-side, featuring Eyo Olokun, signifies unfathomable deep grooves. That is, the instinct that there is something worth knowing, perhaps more than can ever be learned, especially this bassline that most people spend a lifetime pondering.

New Jersey's finest returns to Ovum alias free. Having been contractually locked down in 2011Harry Romero's previous Philly outing came under his secretive Vaggio pseudonym. The air of mystery surrounding the artist frustrated and excited in equal measure and yet refreshingly freed the EP of any preconceptions. This was after all a debut release, right The response was overwhelming and lit the touch paper for what was soon to be Harry's return to his beloved raw house beats. Those trademark drums were in full effect again at the tale end of last year with the release of 'The Butcher' on Circus Recordings. Meaty by name and nature the ep confirmed that Harry had lost none of his trademark Latin-infused swing. This sound is also at the forefront of his 'You Get Deep' EP. The new tracks serve up a full Romero menu with 'Get Deep' displaying a groove-heavy swing and a spritely Arpeggiated synth line which dances throughout. 'Not Yet' lets rip with its scything beats and a twisted rubbery baseline that will provoke an erotic response from the floor. Sondos beats abound on the relentless 'Casino' as Harry messes with our minds, chopping and twisting the Hammond to create a roof-raising warehouse anthem and a perfect finale to this mammoth release.

The second release of Orphik comes with 2 tracks by Oliver Markreich, one by The Bastards and a remix by Mike Wall.

Oliver Markreich gives this EP a fresh summer breeze with his two tracks - Ake" and "Garedu". Listen to the chords, close your eyes and feel the summer. Housy impulsive grooves and percussions effects will take you on a trip into space.

On "Instant Lift", The Bastards from Portugal plays with hypnotic spheric sounds which let your mind drift, while a strong percussive groove keeps your feet on the dancefloor.

Mike Shannon has revived Cynosure Recordings after a two-year hibernation, and its revenge has come with a focus on Mike's solo productions and Collaborations. Reset, Bleep puts the label's catalogue back at 000 and begins to count backwards to where its roots began. The A1 - Bleep Back is a deep bass monster with some definite in your face, morphing wave table trickery. And if Shannon's latest sets are anything to go by, it is a tried tested and true weapon on the dance floor, one that you'll find yourself coming back to in your mind. Following is 'Serge Up", a super dry and crunchy minimal house number produced with the famous Serge Modular system, a rare synth used by producers like Richie Hawtin and Jean Michel Jarre. In the hands of Shannon, this machine has produced some of the weirdest and wildest sound to come out of his studio to date. Finally we have 'Bleep Forward", an alternate mix of the A1 track. This time Shannon enlists the help of NYC/Berlin badass Evan Baggs. This version leans more towards a futurist sound with an underlying modular bubble and a synth progression that chugs tirelessly forward. Backed with an Aux88 style 808 groove and Ghetto Detroit style bass line, this track is poised to be a regular from Berlin to Brooklyn.

Bucharest's electronic scene is surely flourishing these days. New artists, new sounds and ,not least, new labels appear almost every day. It was time for old comrades Piticu and Herodot to start one of their own. Unanim is the name they've unanimously chosen to represent them. First come out the sounds of piticu wich are rather techno and agressive. It's time to dance on both sides of tipic ep and we unanimously like the ideea. Der untergang seems to be a classic techno track, if that track was made by Piticu of course. Raw elements run a long way before downfalling into a brilliant lead.

Micro phonia is the quiet one, but actually it's not quiet at all. Here the bassline is the hook. the track grows and grows, adding layer after layer of twilight on the trippy percussion, only to end in a mystic dark note.

Alec Troniq completes his impacting Uncrufter trilogy with model number 3000. After the formidable success of Uncrufter 1000 and 2000 with tracks like "Fin's Lampenladen" and "Fauxpas" he ignites his final purge. With "M100" on A-Side a strrrooong earcatcher steamrolls you, suitable for House, Techno and Electro sets equally. "Thanks Bob" on B1 associates high energetic pumping grooves with a catchy bounce. On B2 powerful "Prima!" is fancy stomping in high spirits. Again Alec Troniq assures sustainable prevention against any run-ofthe-mill with an abnormal, melodic but crowd rocking drive.

with RV8, the osaka-based producer and musician AOKI takamasa continues his long-
term project that focuses on the modulation of rhythms and grooves. it began with his frst ep
‚rhythm variations' in 2009, released as part three of the unun-series. besides his collaboration
with raster-noton, he released records on several labels like commmons, progressive form
and op.disc, produced remixes for well-known musicians like ryuichi sakamoto or yoshihiro
hanno and played performances at, for example, elektra/montreal and club transmediale/
berlin, all in all making him a renowned producer in japan and beyond.
starting with a frework of bleeps and bops, already the very frst minutes of his new
record reveal aoki's preference for vibrating beats and likewise his playful approach to music,
generating a sound that is aiming at the dance foor.
like the frst ones, almost all tracks of the record are characterized by a constant modulation
of chords and lines that sometimes appears somehow hyperactive, but nevertheless results
in a natural fow that perfectly refects AOKI's laid-back attitude combined with his will to
produce danceable and funky music.
the fuent arrangement is only interrupted by the third track which forms a caesura by
being more reduced and slower. in contrast to this, the following tracks present a faster
tempo and an increased intensity; and whereas the frst tracks refect downbeat and r'n'b
infuences due to their broken beats and chunky sound, the later songs are characterized by
a more sleek and technoid style, incorporating dribbling basses, clappy sounding snares and
modulated voice snippets.
although all of the musical components are constantly broken down, modulated, and
rearranged, the overall sound of the record is dense and compact, featuring a groove made
up of numerous elements that are complexly intertwined. the eight tracks of the record ft
seamlessly together and create a composition that nearly functions like a dj set.
the album was mastered by yoshinori sunahara. needless to say that RV8 will be released
as cd and lp.

As with - Si pero no' which has the clear potential to hit the scene like - hay consuelo' did.
