Remixes and edits of a cult classic featuring Erol Alkan, Kink, Damian Lazarus and the original Tweekin Funk Acid Mix (all currently unavailable on vinyl)

Brains rule for the next No Static / Automatic release as the hyper-prolific DMX Krew presents five new tracks of laser gun acid, bleepy electro and mutant tunnelling techno on Brain Mutants EP.

NS/A could not be more honoured to bring DMX Krew to the label, hugely influential in UK’s electronic music world, the sheer mass and relentless ingenuity of his release history is breathtaking. There’s over 24 albums and even more EPs released to date, found on Rephlex Records, his own Breakin and Fresh Up labels, and more recently a string of albums on Hypercolour Records. It really would not be right to pin him down to one style of beat with the expanse of his work covering braindance, electro funk, pop, acid, ambient, techno and beyond.

Working with the Aphex Twin created Sample Brain, old disco records and analogue synth notes were fed into the sample mashing web app to create the sounds used on this EP. Label boss Ara-u picked out his favourites from the palette which DMX Krew cut up, looped and added in rock-hard drums. The results are super playful, high calibre club tracks you expect from the one and only DMX Krew - designed for heavy impact on the club floor.

Repress!

Maara makes seductively uninhibited, proggy dance music. In fact, she’s quickly becoming one of its foremost exponents. Barely pausing for breath between releases, ‘Spiral 2 the Other Side’ finds the Montreal artist summoning divine feminine frequencies with a hypnotic, ritual-ready 4-tracker.

Some Maara productions are shot through with an almost radiant optimism, but here, darkroom throb prevails. Big on the gated vocals, ‘Spiral 2 the Other Side’ achieves cybernetic sensuality through trippy,

moiré-d electro, while ‘Take the Wheel Miss Sweetie’, with its driving, fathoms-deep approach, provides a direct take on the blueprint.

The Canadian assumes the role of high priestess on the flip. ‘Forget the world’ is a ritual incantation for bridging seen and unseen worlds; prog house magick with shades of ‘90s trance utopia. Rounding things off with a tunnelling electro tripper, ‘Doom Quest’ references the vortex-dwelling atmospherics of early tribal modes to mind-altering effect.

The incessant brain bogglers zig-zag back to Diagonal with the nerve-gnawing acid pointillism of Right Frankfurt after a series of purple-themed 12's with iDEAL and Hypermedium and the zinging Do These sessions with F.C.O.U. and Presto!
Equivalent to an intravenous dose of acidic synthesis, Right Frankfurt nods to one of techno's most efficient power centres with a PCP-on-Modafinil-strength reduction and concentration of early industrial techno tropes shorn of their skull-cracking beats and left to babble in an utterly alien coda.
It does so for 25 unrelenting minutes, which, if you asked my mum, all sounds the same. But, if you've ever appreciated the lissom fluidity of a strong acid or synth lead in the dance, you will
notice and no doubt relish the piece's tumultuous, microtonal variations, see-sawing up/down and around the frequency scale in highly visual knots that are perhaps best experienced in synch with the strobes of their live show.
We recently witnessed EVOL scare the bejesus into Berghain with this stuff, to the extent that there's now a small cargo cult like gathering on the wastelands next door to the club who can do
nowt but worship a discarded acid smiley keyring and speak in 303 tongues whilst cowering at the sight of Easyjets overhead.

Detroit's Rebecca Goldberg, aka 313 Acid Queen, releases 5 techno bangers incl. Mark Broom remix on Phoq U.

Phoq U Phonogrammen, the rebellious U-TRAX sublabel, returns after 26 years with its eight release, produced and manufactured in Detroit. Detroit native Rebecca Goldberg, who has previously released music and performed live under her 313 Acid Queen alias, will present her brand new People Mover EP at the Detroit Movement festival, on May 26, 2023.

The EP features 5 dancefloor fillers, including the Detroit-style remix by Mark Broom of the opening track Automated. The EP is inspired by transportation, industry and travel, as well as the city of Detroit of course, paying homage to the original minimal techno music and the evolution of technology and industry.

All tracks are live jams, recorded in one take on all hardware instruments. Rebecca tries to do as little post-work as possible, with just a little bit of final arrangement. Her work often incorporates field recorded sounds, and for this EP she used samples recorded while riding on the Detroit People Mover itself, the elevated automated light rail system in downtown Detroit. Goldberg started a sound walk group called Detroit Frequency and the recordings were taken on during the first event last summer.

The EP kicks off with the fast-paced Automated, that echoes the hypnotic minimal techno sound of Robert Hood. Mark Broom added an extra dose of 909 funk in his Mark Broom remix, which provides the track with even more pumping rhythms and making it sound even more 'classic Detroit'.

The B-side opens with Elevated, that features industrial-ish DPM sounds on a bed of pure acid, as if Goldberg wants us to remember why she is named the 313 Acid Queen.
Staying On meanwhile, puts a repeating DPM announcer's voice central stage, making it a fascinating piece of minimal techno. The closing track Linear Motion creates a dark atmosphere, with eerie, down-pitched DPM sounds that makes this a spooky techno trip that we believe many people will love.

Riviera Records presents XTC002: The Atlantic Connection with non-stop flights to X-Coast from Ireland, UK and USA.

The first route offers a very intuitive bass and breakbeat driven ride with a Tama Gucci signature, sensual vocals cutting through the airspace. The second journey is flying over (hard) house territory
with DJ Torture serving the snacks.

The B side we have a UK to X-Coast red eye flight with a trance edge courtesy of Capt. Ejeca. B2 is the only supersonic flight offered at this time navigated by Tommy Holohan: a shuffled up Reese bass powered techno from Ireland to X-Coast in just 4 minutes and 57 seconds - buckle up.

Leftfield electro and acid for Lennard Ypma's debut - Ladies Jam - on his own label Volunar Records. SBLS and GH-1S on the A-side make up for a heavy West Coast and electro journey.

The remix of GH-1S by Beau Wanzer is also not to be missed, with his signature touch and a nauseating bassline. Flip the record to the B-side for two mind-bending acid cuts;

Ladies Jam is a heavily distorted and mechanic track with eerie leads that will drag you through acid punches, while Betonsmeer offers a slowed-down bunker-style cruise with earworming acid and heavy percussion. The 180 grams record comes with an extra artwork by Jorge Velez pressed on elephant grass paper. Tip!

Ipnotica Erotica's latest release expresses the essence of what the label stands for. The first track takes up the same name as the label, which like a mantra is repeated throughout. Key clef uses herself as the image of her video for this track, expressing in its content her concept of liberation through movement and the hedonistic perception of one's body by connecting through sound. Soffocare is a proof of great synthesis mastery, made mostly in live recordings, an ever-evolving track with a carefree sound and playful rhythms that chase each other while its title contradicts this feeling as reality from the perception of it. In the B-side track Key clef brings what for her is the flow of parties in Berlin clubs, a continuous vortex of movement, sounds and voices. The provocative sound and the visceral laughter make this track pure dynamite for the dance floor.

The fourth Rebound Lounge EP. DJ Dog and Double Dancer keep on pushing the boundaries of their weird and wonderful genre Basketball House! The sound always changing and evolving into different territories, but still keeping their flavour and strickt concept. Rebound Lounge a label and production project consisting of DJ Dog (aka DJ Fett Burger) & Double Dancer. They have been 'Rejuvenating the basketball house scene since 2016' as they like to say. A genre they claim to have invented and thus rejuvenated since day one. The music presented with sounds from the basketball world and weave this in to the productions. It can be a shoe rubbing on the wooden court, a cheering audience, a yelling coach or a heavy slam dunk. Sometimes clearly audible, sometimes hidden deep in the mix. From this mixture the unique Rebound Lounge sound is created.

First edition of a project inspired by the idea to merge electronic music and data art.

Dago Sondervan uploads his code-driven debut to the Censor mainframe. Known for live-coding using Sonic-Pi and TidalCycles, Dago transports you straight into front-left of the Algorave. The EP includes a dimension changing remix from Annie Hall, and a further set of twisted electro remixes from CYRK and F.R.B. (an alias of Alex Jann). This is one for the replicants, bots and cyborgs.

Back in 1993... Early acid Techno from the U.S. … Golden age of the Electronic Music... When Trance, techno and Breakbeat were one and only scene called Rave ! 25 years later, here comes a reisuue of these praised records, remastered by Isotop, cut by Simon The Exchange... The second vinyl brings 3 remixes : one from Biri & The Geezer for a bloody Hackney Acid style ! Another oldschool acid story for a familly meltdown... Then comes a Magy remake more than a remix, re-playing all instruments and all melodies entirely... Sampless tune ! For the last track we have this Big-Beat/Breakbeat version from Monstafunkaz... The remix EP coming with the album is the result from a little challenge remix done on social medias last year... Visual is from Artcoton.

Electronic Label toward multiple directions and influences.

Als nächstes erscheint bei BPitch eine neue 4-Track EP mit ungefiltertem Techno und tadellosem Sounddesign des Turiner Duos Boston 168. Nach drei Veröffentlichungen auf dem Label und einem Beitrag auf dem vielversprechenden Sublabel UFO Inc im Jahr 2019 begibt sich das Duo mit der EP Gigantia, die am 14.07.23 digital veröffentlicht wird, in industrielle Gefilde und in lebhafte psychedelische Trips. Sergio Pace und Vincenzo Ferramosca, die seit 2014 gemeinsam Musik produzieren, haben sich mit einer besonders räumlichen Form von Techno einen Namen gemacht, der ihnen bis heute eine illustre Karriere beschert hat. Auf "Gigantia" greift das Duo auf die industriellen Wurzeln ihrer Heimatstadt zurück und verschmilzt eine Reihe von Einflüssen mit einer ausgesprochen melodischen Version von Acid Techno.

Returning to Balkan Vinyl after 2020’s Beats For Straight Boys, the Italian XXXL queer acid-disco duo Hard Ton are back, this time with guest vocals from legendary model & singer ROY INC. Three tracks of proper acid house for sweaty bodies on the dancefloor, plus two bonus vocal acapellas. Out on limited edition of 303 pink heavyweight wax.

London outfit Kassian continue their broadly- evolving yet highly detailed journey through and beyond sound towards something ever more expansive. Their second release for !K7 Records comes in the wake of creating a dedicated hardware-forward studio in a Northeast London container complex, where they have the freedom to interlink their machines. This renewed focus brought them to Supercontinent EP, named for the ancient geological era when Africa and South America were joined as Pangea.

A reformulation of rhythmic ideas inspired by South= African Amapiano and South American Baile Funk governs the two hemispheres of the record. The pair examine and deconstruct dancefloor material, eschewing 4/4 for interlocking shaker patterns, searing acid lines, cracking breakbeats, and vocal samples in Zulu and Brazil Portuguese.

The immediacy of the restless rhythm and bass-led funk of “Yena” (the word Yena translates to ‘he/him /man’)forms a sweet spot where double-time and half-time can coexist. “Yami” (‘mine’ in Zulu) is a slinkier proposition which sheds prominent percussion in favour of a weighty, fluid, acid-informed bassline undulating from below.

An ascending percussive riff marks the arrival of “Pulgueiro”, followed closely by break beats and the nostalgia of distinctly British acid electro; it is an intentionally future-forward retelling of a vintage sound, replete with a mind-melt breakdown of rave pads.

A dubbed-out groove dominates the bottom-heavy “Sistema” – a groovy, steady roller that chugs and propels and chugs with head-nod hypnotism through an intricately minimalistic approach.

Qnete’s back in the building for a third X-Kalay release and it’s an anticipated return for the prominent purveyor of prog. Four diverse but coherently related tracks with pit stops in deep house and electro territory.

We open proceedings with a dose of the lysergic sound that has become his trademark since debuting on the label in 2021. Evoking ritual and ceremony, ‘Going Short‘ commences with choral pads that beckon to the altar. A slo-mo exercise in dancefloor hypnosis with trace echoes of bleep.

Where ‘Wrapped’ takes a turn toward mellow, ‘Stepperals’, like its A1 counterpart, recalibrates trance tropes into something more chugging and restrained. Another example of Qnete smudging his third eye on a tunnelling, wormhole flex.

And finally, the Leipzig native signs off with a nod to the American Midwest. Opening cerebral gates in a way that recalls classic Detroit In Effect, closing track ‘Circuit Friends’ taps into the futurist utopia imagined by Detroit electro’s pioneers.

2024 Reissue

With this debut album from Lake Haze entitled “Glitching Dreams” the E-Beamz label ushers in a new phase in the labels output. Lake Haze characterises the new direction perfectly and showcases the full spectrum of frequencies to be encapsulated in future releases. Intergalactic space cowboy LakeHaze otherwise known as Gonçalo Salgado has been exploring the territories that can only be described as otherworldly in one form or another since his inaugural release on Unknown to the Unknown way back in 2013.

Think Legowelt jamming with early 90’s “Selected Ambient” era-Aphex Twin. Expect menacing ruffneck electro coupled with introspective space-infected arpeggios built to transport the listener to an alternative, but ultimately bliss dimension. A proper long-player in an era of short attention spans and streaming algorithms. Join us on the journey and embrace the opportunity to get completely fucking lost.

Serge Geyzel and Karsten Pflum are old friends, with a common musical ground and passion. Since 2020 they have been collaborating prolifically - focusing their energy and effort on dance oriented electro, with strong acid, breakbeat and IDM vibes. “EP 2” is a five tracker, displaying a palette of funky, tight, deep and quirky excursions into their acid galaxy.

Tik Tok Taylor gets Snazzy Caz on vocals to create 2 anthemic bouncy Acid Techno bombs in 'Free N Ravin' and 'Bit Of This', whilst Finland's Kari brings some gnarliness to the Tik Tok groove, and some tongue-in-cheek samples on 'Filthy Punk Rockers', whilst adding some classy deeper elements to their non-trance version of 'Couginator'. All in all another classic SUF release!

Stay Up Forever on their 110th release and still going strong. Ciuciek teams up with Aggie Acid Line and Bassline Ben for a rousing Acid Techno anthem on the A1 track ACID ON THE DANCEFLOOR.

The same trio get darker on the A2 with HEAD FULL OF ACID, whilst Ciuciek and fellow Polish producer ErykkMTK deliver a pulsating dancefloor bomb on the B1 with RETURN TO ACID.

Expansive & emotional ambient techno tracks spin into some Detroit techno ‘Shambles’. Hi Tech Soul threaded into an introspective cocoon that seems nostalgic and futuristic in the same breath.

Dublin musician and producer Daniel Jacobson aka ZOiD makes his debut on Winthorpe with 4 tracks of intricate melodies over jazz chords powered by eurorack drum modules and tb303 sequencing. The Pin Row Acid EP is the latest release from the Dublin techno-electro stalwart whose roots stretch back to the 90's. Introduced to techno by two DJs who lived in his neighbourhood, he hooked up with the cities legendary D1 label recording tracks in their studio and forming his own label - Diatribe - where he released the his debut 12" -Subinersoll EP. 3 albums and several EP's later he follows up last years release on Dan Curtin's Metamorphic label with the first Winthorpe proper of 23. Kicking off proceedings with the MC-202 bounce of "2-oh-Techno" a short, snappy and break neck schizoid funky opener followed by the jazz chord progression of "Winthorpe Acrid". The baleriac pads of "Sunrise Acid" kick off the B side with extra grit added for good measure and the EP closes out with the exercise in chord sequencing that is "Megajazz Acidchops", an opus that's been forming in his head for some time.

Perseus Traxx makes his debut on Hissman's Hardmoon London imprint with a unique set of acid-free sonic experiments.

For the thirteenth instalment of the Swinging Flavors catalog, Beat Machine Records presents a gem of pure energy by the talented Kyoto-based producer Naco. Set to ignite dance floors worldwide, this release delivers an electrifying fusion of acid, techno, and breaks, with a rave-inspired twist.

Dutch pioneer Sp@sms returns to U-TRAX with 'From A 20th Century Box' LP, backed with remixes from Bloody Mary and Cosmic Force

On 'From the 20th Century Box' Arno Peeters, aka Sp@sms, returns to U-TRAX with his debut full-length album. Showcasing years of sonic exploration stemming from his time in various groups including Random XS and Voltage Control amongst others, the LP also draws from his experience studying and teaching music at the Centre for Electronic Music as well as his work in project-based sound design.

Filled to the brim with pulsating arpeggios, crunchy drums and dark, moody atmospheres, the LP is marked by a retro yet timeless feel. Inbetween its snaking, squelchy synth lines and old school electro grooves Sp@sms masterfully incorporates playful textures and elements from found recordings and unused projects, resulting in a vastly versatile and experimental album fusing all things techno, acid and EBM.

An expert lesson in sound design and composition taught by one of the Netherlands' most trusted and experienced artists, the LP also contains remixes from Dame Music's Bloody Mary and Utrecht electro stalwart Cosmic Force and arrives via heavyweight, colored double vinyl, digital, CD and cassette mediums.

As is typical for a U-TRAX release, each physical version has its own set of tracks. The vinyl and CD versions also come with a in-depth interview with Arno Peeters, as well as extensive background notes for each track (on the album's inner sleeves and a 24 page booklet, respectively).
