Prolific and often nomadic label boss, producer, and studio engineer, Tony Price (Maximum Exposure) has been making a name for himself over these last years, as he's lurked in the shadows while moving from city to city around the world, leaving a unique and wide-spanning musical mark in his wake.

On his 13 track IBM-CONTRA LP, Price conjures up a wild melange of free jazz and high speed electro funk next that sits next to dusty ambient, street tough house, and even Bill Conti-esque dark alley rainy street jams featuring saxophone work from Alex Zhang Hungtai and Colin Fisher.

The album is unmistakably Tony at his best, as he weaves in and out of these genres making them make sense next to each other. Whether it's providing a shady saxophone driven backdrop for the next inevitable worldwide bio-warfare crisis or tapping into the roots of stripped down classic electro and house for the floor, this is the artist at peak creativity flexing his skills.

Channelling his own explorations in search of the soul inside the machine, VRIL draws from the deep well of his live performances to present his third LP for Delsin, Animist. Inside lie 12 pieces which seem to probe at the unknowable distance between tangible consciousness and the astral plane, imbuing even the most seemingly synthetic of materials with a living essence. Given his illustrious back catalogue, it's no surprise to hear VRIL conjure explicitly electronic music with such loaded emotional impact and seemingly organic animus, but in the process he also toys with the idea of how far the technology's spiritual potential can reach.

Waajeed’s 2022 long player, Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz, was an aural love letter to his hometown of Detroit; an amalgam of the city’s history, coalescing the personal, political and, of course, musical past.

From the Motown soul assembly line to J Dilla’s musically dense Hip-Hop to The Stooges’ proto-Punk to the birth of Techno, the music of the Motor City has spread across the globe inspiring countless artists who in turn went on to create their own forms and genres.

Emulating this movement and transmutation, the Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz Remixes 12” sees artists from three continents repurpose elements from across the LP, transforming them into productions stamped with their own trademark styles whilst retaining the spirit of each original:

the UK’s Mark Broom loops sections of Right Now while speeding up the BPM for a classic UK-style techno remix; Ghana-born Yazzus takes on The Ballad of Robert O’Bryant adding a surprising number of twists and turns for a five-and-a-half-minute piece; Australians Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code close the 12” out with their take on the album’s title and opening track neatly closing the loop, bringing us full circle to the start of the LP.

The release of Memoirs...remixes add another facet to the immensely heartfelt tribute to Detroit from one of its most talented citizens and a true milestone in the Tresor catalogue.

Abyss has long been one of Kniteforce's leaders in bringing the darkness, with his previous EPs always selling out fast. This new EP brings his classic but previously unreleased track "Dubplate Style" to vinyl, and rounds it off with a selection of deep and dark breakbeat workouts. All amen and bass heavy, and riddled with twisted film samples, Abyss takes his usual claustrophobic style to its zenith with The South Central EP.

Acen's Trip To The Moon series is simply unmissable, and these color vinyl represses are severely limited in number. Germany's Dircsen has a solid track record of 303 infused releases across labels like We're Going Deep and Soundtravels, but this is his first full-length vinyl outing.

Across these two slabs of wax he slips and slides between electro, deep techno, jacking house, and psychedelic live workouts, but throughout the eight tracks the silver boxes work their indefinable magic.

It all comes to a head on acid chugger Outrageous Breach, which is a 10-minute-long trip down a 303 wormhole.

Baffling Noise (seekers sublabel) coming back after the album of Yonder kids with a 4 tracks EP produced by Interactive Test boss Franco Falsini.

At the latest with the release of the albums "Zauberberg" and "Königsforst", in the mid-1990s, one associates GAS, Wolfgang Voigt's very own artistic cross-linking of the spirit of Romanticism and the forest as an artistic fantasy projection surface, with intoxicatingly blurred boundaries of post-ambient infatuation and the impenetrable thicket of abstract atonality. The distant, iconic straight bass drum marching through highly condensed, abstract sounds taken from classical music by the sampler or modulated accordingly, and the enraptured gaze through pop art glasses into the hypnotic thicket of an imaginary forest, manifested over the years this unique connection of audio and visual, which to understand fully, then as now, would be neither possible nor desirable.

Quite the opposite. The album GAS - DER LANGE MARSCH once again invites us to follow the deep sounding bass drum, to give in to its irresistible pull into a psychedelic world of 1000 promises. In the process, the journey leads us past stations of memories sounding from afar, from "Zauberberg" to "Königsforst" and "Pop", from "Oktember" to "Narkopop" and "Rausch", back and forth, now and forever.

Gamma' is the highly anticipated new album from the enigmatic French techno producer Gesaffelstein, and is the follow up to his 2019 release 'Hyperion'. INTOXTC is the first EP under Ash Luk's post Minimal Violence alias,Infinity Division. Like a phoenix rising, he continues his ascent through amelodic dystopia simultaneously channeling nostalgia and violence. No stranger to Never Sleep after our //ZOO release and playing live shows for the club night for many years. 'Visions' has ID howling over eerie pop lubed melodies, jungle breaks which all come together to form a new age in crossover music. Sounding like nobody else and completely blows the doors off the"Hyperpop" stigma associated with this kind of bravery. 'Thirteen' shows the club some trance fever dreams whilst 'Something Dreamy' breaks the whole fourth wall in its unashamed hands in the arrangement and palette. Leading the charge is 'T-INT' - a HUGE orchestral noise rhythmic workout and shows the sheer volume that this producer can materialise. Leftfield break up a mosh pit in NYC's CBGB and find Ian Curtis still dancing.

Official re-issue of Javier Segura's album from 1986. Exciting tribal, ambient and experimental sonorities brought back in a newly remastered release.

Originally released in 1986, 'Nostalgia De Lo Humano' is almost unclassifiable. For Segura, styles are another form of repression, something that serves to label and keep track of those who sees, listens, buys or plays, and especially who sells. Despite the fact that Segura has been producing music continuously since the 1970s, his recognition as a musician was for a long time limited to experimental music circles. He had always controlled his career on his own, on the fringes of the industry. As Javier Segura himself says, his head is full of textures, rhythms and melodies. Through his textured productions, Segura opened up new dimensions to experimental music, using guitars, drum machines, trumpets, synths, or pedals.

Lee Holman is back on Knotweed with a record created like a movie score that would fit perfectly for a John Carpenter movie. Techno yet acid, Minimalistic yet tribal, ambient yet sci-fi, Lee's machines circuitry were used in heavy quantity to develop this piece of music.

Starting with 'Advanced Technology', Lee takes us to a trip in space. His spaceship is ready to go towards unknown territory. It takes off from Earth towards a far away planet. Maybe Mars, Saturn or even further in another solar system. Menacing synths accompany the heavy drums, helping us navigating into space. The trip is intense, meeting many fields of gamma rays, but thanks to its advanced technology, the ship lands to its destination.

Having landed on what feels like a friendly planet at first, the crew is in awe with what they find and start its exploration, full of hope. ‘Terraforming', with its ambient-like lush intriguing synths drives us through a new environment. We are not sure what we have found, but for now it seems we came in contact with a peaceful world. That is until the track comes to its end, when nerve wrecking repetitive bleeps warning us on what is to come.

'Cybernetic Revolt'. Something has gone terribly wrong. How long have we been there? Long enough for something to go awry. Maybe the discovery of unfriendly extraterrestrial life, no-one knows. Decisions need to be made, A repetitive drumbeat gathers the troops. Earth needs to be warned. Navigating through fields of meteorites, heavy acid driven synth lines indicate that we are leaving this newly discovered world we have so much hope in. The tension grows and grows. We are at war with unknown entities.

'The Warp'. It's up to the listener to decide what really happened. Did the spaceship make it back to Earth? Did the crew survive? Where are we now? Many questions are left unanswered. The atmosphere developed in this piece of music seems to indicate a positive outcome, but you do not really know. The crew is hiding something, they want to survive hence keep a secret from their fellow earthlings that might prove devastating. The more the track develops, the darker it gets.

When writing his album Fusion, Len Faki never quite knew where the creative process would take him. Eventually it transported his sound into an all new realm, where he could show 360 degrees his talents and styles. Finally finding completion as a mighty double LP, the Figure x37 EP takes four of the album's new cuts to be presented in this special format ahead of the official release of Fusion.

An important corner stone of the album, the Halide tracks were made in remembrance of Faki's late mother, who passed away during the last production stage of the LP. These delicate tracks, which both feature the voice of Halide, capture the intense sadness Faki was feeling at the time and helped him to process his grief and eventually finish off the album. Part 1 is a softly mourning, melancholic breakbeat ballad, musically reminiscent of the chillout rooms Faki found himself spending a lot of time at going out to clubs throughout the 90s. The much darker second part,
echoing the hopeless bleeps of a heart rate monitor, will only be released on the full album.

Next to this very personal track are more examples of Faki's versatility as an artist, who has seen it all and now uses the album format to work without any constraints or expectations.

A gentle yet gritty electro homage, Make Me Scream is a take on the classic breakbeat from days long gone, with hollow drums and a mysteriously sweet vocal lurking underneath the track's soothing pads and lively synth riffs.

On Tor 8 Faki combines his driving techno and strong melodic elements, subdued chords rising to create an atmosphere of euphoria, while a classic bleep keeps things on track.

Astra (taken from Fusion's more straight-laced disc one) is the most punchy outing of the record, but it still comes with a myriad of detailed sounds to explore amongst its tight-knit rhythmic corset. Twinkly synths slowly rise to make the track bloom into its full, exuberantly colourful form.

With x37 readied, it's only a few weeks until the final release of the Fusion double-album. Here at Figure we can't wait to let you explore the full range of the singular sound that Len Faki has created.

Filipovich is one of a kind. The Belarus-born, Paris-based artist works in a multitude of media - found footage films, painting, silkscreening and performance to name a few. It's her musical output that has caught the attention of late, though, with Filipovich dropping a run of releases in recent years which began with 2021's Magnificat on Time Released Sound. Filipovich takes as much of a novel approach to her music-making as she does with her other artistic endeavours - Magnificat was centred around treated samples of Sergei Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, and she's also combined classical composition with contemporary electronic techniques on her subsequent drops.

For Idealized, Filipovich's debut on Sheffield's Central Processing Unit, she maintains the gothic air which characterised her previous releases and applies it to a record of widescreen contemporary techno joints. These tracks represent something of a gear shift for CPU, a label which has long made its name by delivering top-quality electro and machine-funk jams, but such is the quality of Idealized that these superbly-executed techno productions are sure to win over label fans both old and new.

Idealized is very much schooled in the German tradition of minimal/dub techno. Tracks like 'Physical', 'Wave' and 'Dance Minor' all anchor themselves on single, steady drum pulses and delay-drenched single-chord loops. Filipovich generally lets the central idea of these tracks play out across several minutes while introducing increasingly disorientating elements into the rest of the mix - wiccan atmospherics, clashing chords, spiralling delays and so forth. It's an approach at once respectful of Filipovich's predecessors - Basic Channel, Deepchord, Ellen Allien and so on - but also full of idiosyncrasies and individuality.

Many of the club cuts here hardwire us into the moody, murky environs of the darkest Berlin Basements. 'Ultra Red' rides forward on a crisp drum machine snap, a menacing burble of bassline and an eerie single-note synth whistle in the upper end of the mix; 'Dance Minor' shows off a bit of KiNK in the brain-bending modular loop that waxes and wanes at its centre; the second-half run from 'Wave' to closer 'Small Cave' travels ever-further out into deep space - the kick drums remain insistent, yet the textural elements are delivered with an edge and flair that evidences Filipovich's ability to think outside the box.

Filipovich's unusual methods, and the influence of sound art and electroacoustic composition on her music, are drawn out further when Idealized steps away from the dancefloor. 'Hydra' comes off like a more gothic version of Pole - its central pulse draws from dub techno but never quite settles into a danceable groove, and this beat is combined with the kind of unnerving keyboard work that would make John Carpenter proud. Although closer 'Small Cave' eventually locks into another dark-room techno roller, the opening section of the track delivers a weightless soundscape of bright, tinny chords and a scene-setting field recording.

Idealized, the first drop on Central Processing Unit from Paris-based Belarusian Lina Filpovich, broadens the label's horizons with a selection of finely crafted minimal/dub techno joints.

Lvcchesi stings hard with his second release of the year, taking influence from that Juke energy and at times merging with ambient textures on this 3 tracker full of club heat and mirror soundscapes.

New release from Rav, a concept unit/label by Ko-Ta and Kiyokazu Hamawaki, who also runs Gabriiela and works as
Liiebermann. This album is compiled from private tracks that Ko-Ta has been making as his "hobby techno" for several
years.
It is reminiscent of the intelligent techno that he was influenced by in the early 90's when he started making music, and
shows his roots as a musician before the stratosphere period when he became more into minimalism.

It would be impossible to measure the impact that Shades Of Rhythmhave had on the rave scene. They defined a sound while never stayingstill, with each release a progression and a move forward within theboundaries of the old school scene, and as often as not, they pushed rightthrough those restrictions into new territory altogether. This Box Setbrings together a whole list of classics, one after another, all remasteredfrom DAT. On top of that, it adds remixes from Nookie, The House Crew,Altern 8 and Blame - the last of which has already become a much soughtafter remix of a legendary track...

By now you'll be aware just how prolific UK-based The Jaffa Kid is. It's obvious just by visiting his Bandcamp page. Release after release of quality breaks, jungle, techno, ambient, and downtempo experiments.

And this debut album for Gated doesn't disappoint, drawing from all those genres across two slabs of wax, underpinned with the Kid's keen ear for electronic music's hypnotic qualities.

These 10 tracks are raw and dancefloor-ready, but still retain that infectious listenability present in everything The Jaffa Kid produces.

The beautifully executed Sandman repress has some perfectly executed remixes, from some of the most talented and capable artists in the industry - and they need to be because Psychosis is a musically superior track to many of its peers, both past and present.

New Decade brings a solid toughness and perfect production on his remix, while Innercore blends his classic credentials with a more modern sound. Meanwhile, KFA regular Ponder changes it up with a d'n'b style workout. But each remix stands proud and alone, and will devastate any dancefloor!

The 1980s saw Spain become a new country. The former stranglehold on the arts loosened and experimentation flourished. This was plain to hear in the music of the time. But history can be cruel and many of the artists and groups that were catalysts of change have faded with time. Frigio Records are righting this wrong with a compilation that brings the sounds of a pioneering outfit back to vinyl with Technoacrazia.
