Erich Fromm's “Escape from Freedom” was published 83 years
ago. His assumption was that modern man, having freed himself
from the shackles of the old days and living freely, longs to
return to the totalitarian, destructive and conformist world. In
2024, the pluralistic and individualized way of life of the socalled West seems self-evident. Boundless freedom is suggested -
but we continue to flee. Utopias are crumbling and conservatism
is experiencing a renaissance. At the same time, the freedom to
decide “ to be able to stay” in contrast to “having to leave”
currently seems to represent a high value.

This EP, between the two producers from Germany and Ukraine, was
created in this field of tension. David Heine and Konstantin
Kost are already working together on the current AMAS project
(Odessa EP)

"Freedom From Esacape" adapts the former title of Erich Fromm's
central work, which is given a prominent role on this record.
Music and techno are freedom and escape at the same time:
transcendence and escapism. In interaction and contradiction at
the same time.

The cover picture was taken on 25 July 1909, when Louis Blériot
became the first person to cross the English Channel in an
aeroplane with the Blériot XI, which he had designed himself.
The reversal of the title and the idea for the cover artwork
came about during a conversation with the artist Jennifer Mattes
in Vienna.

About the tracks:
On the A-side, the two protagonists create a world of minimalist
dub techno, which also has melodic, flat side strands in its
narratives. The more than 60-year-old fragments from TV
interviews with Erich Fromm on the subject of freedom,decisions, constructivism and destruction are presented so
densely and rustlingly that you don't feel compelled to follow
the lecture. Instead, the spoken word corresponds with the
minimalist framework of the two pieces. The old audio recordings
are embedded as part of the composition. Some of it may be
understood and arouse the listener's curiosity, but again and
again you get lost in the repetitive swamp of sound, so that you
may understand more of the text each time you listen to it
without it imposing itself on you.

The two remixes of the first track take a different approach.
"Save Your Atoll" specifically frames and limits the spoken word
in its interpretation and embarks on a hypnotic journey that is
less worldly and more futuristic.

"Anna Kost" goes one step further by literally suffocating the
old man's spoken word, as if the destructive drum patterns were
trying to shut him up.

"Freedom From Escape" will be released on 18 October 2024 in a
physical edition of 200 records and is available digitally on
all common portals.

Kevin Saunderson’s E-Dancer combine with DJ Minx to create an instant classic and am anthem for a long hot summer.

If is a triumphant colloboration between Techno godfather Kevin and his son Dantiez, who as well as being part of E-Dancer co-wrote and co-produced this latest gem from Detroit’s electronica lineage.

DETROIT made its’ debut at the city’s recent Movement celebration of all things Techno and was acclimated as a gem by those who understand that you can’t tell the Motor City’s how to play its’ music. Kevin followed this up with a DJ trip to Ibiza where DETROIT created Detroit mayhem.

In his second EP, Scott Avery takes us on a journey through the life of MK2680—a fictional android, Martian, and human hybrid living between Earth and Mars in the year 3000. A young historian traveling through space and time searching for ancient African music traditions, MK2680's time machine malfunctions on a routine trip to Earth, leaving him stranded in Detroit in 1992. Techno, a genre he had yet to encounter, dominated the dance floors and airwaves during this time. Blown away by its emotional depth, futuristic sound, gritty textures, driving rhythms, and minimal yet hypnotic arrangements, MK2680 endeavored to make music to find a place in the universe. Clone Classic Cuts continues their re-issues series for one of the most influential techno acts ever... Drexciya. The second selection of tracks including favorites such as ''Bang-Bang'', ''Positron Island'', ''Anti Vapour Waves'' and ''Journey Home'' complimented some lesser or unknown tracks. Raw, uncompromising music made with soul and creativity always has been the trademark of Drexciya (and also from their original label Underground Resistance) and this album is another showcase of their talents.

Orlando Voorn, the famed Dutch DJ/producer that embraced the Detroit electronic sound from the early nineties, has graced us with three OG sounding tracks that we are proud to offer! DJ Eddie Fowlkes created the techno genre alongside Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Now the 'Godfather of Techno Soul' uses his extensive knowledge and experience to create a dynamic wax release drenched in Motor City inspiration - this four-track vinyl package is both a love letter to his musical roots and an inspired representation of the left-of-centre house that Classic is known for. For the lead track, 'AHYEE', Eddie carves out his own sound in a low growl as distorted percussion whirs over a four-on-the-floor beat. 'Blow' goes tougher, with an undulating bass that adds a wonky unease to the rhythmic kick and syncopated decoration. On the B-side, ‘Talking To Me’ makes use of a distinctive spoken-word vocal over an expansive and rhythmically intricate accompaniment, celebrating the culture through expert sampling and production techniques, whilst ‘Complex’ is more beat-focused with driving synth rhythms. Coming from producing some of the first techno records nearly 40 years ago, unique releases like this continue to prove Fowlkes' status as a constant innovator, and his ear for house music is undeniable.

Legendary Dutch producer Stefan Robbers returns to De:tuned with his first new Terrace album in almost 15 years entitled 'Branches'. In the early 90s, the well-respected Eevo Lute originator built a firm connection with the first wave of Detroit producers and since then he has put the city of Eindhoven on the worldwide techno map. This new 10-track album represents the trademark Terrace sound, expertly produced throughout extensive hardware studio sessions and completely mesmerizing from start to finish. A classic yet innovative exploration of Motor City techno with a unique Dutch twist.

A-TON ist eine neue Edition und Plattform des Berghain-Inhouse-Labels Ostgut Ton und konzentriert sich auf Ambient-, Archiv- und andere Musiken, abweichend von den
clubfokussierten Veröffentlichungen des Hauptlabels. Darüber hinaus markiert das erste Release auf A-TON - Chronicles I - den Beginn einer Serie von Veröffentlichungen Luke Slaters unter dessen Alias The 7th Plain und präsentiert geremastertes, zuvor veröffentlichtes als auch bislang ungehörtes Archivmaterial.

Zuerst erschienen auf General Production Recordings zwischen 1993 und 1996, lotete Slaters The 7th Plain die sich stärker ausbreitenden Facetten von Ambientmusik aus und trieb sie gleichzeitig an die Genregrenzen, indem sich The 7th Plain nicht auf beatbefreite Synthflächen beschränkte, sondern treibende Progressionen, nuancierte Rhythmen und raffinierte Melodien mit einbezog. The 7th Plains außerweltliche Musik entzog sich somit der genauen musikalischen Einordnung, nachzuhören auf den beiden Alben The 4 Cornered Room und My Yellow Wise Rug (beide GPR, 1994) - emotionale, gespenstische und eskapistische Musik, bei Erstveröffentlichung vorwärtsdenkende Alben, die in Rückbetrachtung die Zeit besiegt haben.

Body Mechanic has been turning out definitive Motor City techno on solid labels like Cryovac, and GASS for several years. This time out he lands-on Detroit Techno and serves up, well, some electro. It's classic 313 tackle though - heavy on the kicks, snappy snares and filthy dirty basslines that make you want to move. Ghoulish vocals add extra grit to the opener and from there 'Dance' gets more playful with jittery drum funk and scratching, 'Beautiful Bum' has a gorgeously tender and reflective vibe thanks to the minor chords and smooth electro rhythms, 'Magic (feat Tay) ' slips into a deep and soulful house groove and 'Househead' is jacked up, loopy and well swung amongst several more timeless cuts. All in all, a killer double 12".

Ulterior Motives launch their main label with a single from DJ Persuasion, featuring a Liftin’ Spirits remix from Ant Miles. The label, which is helmed by DJ and producer Noah Tucker, began life in 2021 with an anonymous edit of a much-loved underground hip hop gem. Two further 12”s in the white label series followed along similar lines, joining the dots between jungle, footwork and r’n’b in UM style. Since then, they have also launched their cassette series with a Metrist mix covering golden era tech step and d’n’b.

DJ Persuasion is principally known for A History Of Hardcore, a series of ten mixes covering ’88-’98 which appeared across a number of platforms between 2015 and 2020. Certain entries in the series appeared on cassette via The Trilogy Tapes, Blackest Ever Black (Id Mud) and Tape Echo. Persuasion also hosted the NTS Demon Poetry show (now the Drum Poetry show) for some years, and contributed In Focus sessions covering the work of Dillinja and LTJ Bukem, alongside Dev:Null.

Jameela EP covers four contrasting, but also concentric areas of the hardcore continuum, featuring a remix from Liftin’ Spirits aka Ant Miles of Origin Unknown. The title track rolls out at bleeding edge jungle hardcore tempo, taking in a mixture of familiar and unfamiliar references. Liftin’ Spirits contributes a standout remix which reframes Jameela as a drum’n’bass epic, opening with a panoramic intro and a quaking bass drop, then building to soaring strings. Robin Gets Revenge is an audial intervention into one of the last remaining unsolved mysteries in acid house, and a stomping 89’-’90 style jammer to boot. The B2 finds Jameela in a slower guise, offering something for after the club and the warm up.

Altars is the debut EP from Detroit's own Deon Jamar.

This album kicks off the catalog of his newly founded record label, Black Music.

Black Music was originally an art exhibit, concert, and party series founded by Deon and Brian Oscar (Wrckles). Inspired by the legacy of those before and the work of peers today, these events were made to honor the lineage while also demonstrating the golden cord that connects all of our music throughout genre and era.

Fusing these worlds together informs the DJ as well as the producer.

A radical objection to industry standards, leaning more into the energy and depth of sound.
