Keyboard virtuoso Terry Riley started experimenting with different instruments in the '50s. One of his electronic music landmarks is his third album A Rainbow in Curved Air. Through the use of overdubbing, he recorded all the instruments to feature on the title track. The composition consists of three movements, each representing another part of his musical influences. As the song progresses, its structure goes through frequent changes. It's an colorful, psychedelic, atmospheric and revolutionary song. The second track consists of a loop of saxophones and is the dreamy and calm opposite of the title track. Fans of electronic music, such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, would love this record. Taking inspiration from Hindustani classical music and jazz techniques, Riley's masterpiece influenced many musicians, from the likes of Brian Eno to Emeralds.

SDH (Semiotics Department of Heteronyms) is the new project of two key figures of the synth-wave/industrial scene of Barcelona. Andrea P. Latorre and Sergi Algiz, founders of the Cønjuntø Vacíø label and also in the post-punk band Wind Atlas, unveil a new act more oriented towards pop music. SDH is change, alteration, distortion, metamorphosis. Their synth-pop songs, sprinkled with EBM and techno, are mysterious, obtuse and suggestive. The project seems to revolve around the idea of fiction. What is the language of feigned personalities What is fiction An individual is one and another, is liquid. It is physical. Incarnating someone is doing it in a corporeal way: making it flesh. Conceive: everything is real: reality does not exist. How is a fiction embodied They have already supported artists such as Marie Davidson and Merchandise and performed at the Swedish festival Kalabalik På Tyrolen, one of the reference festivals of the darkwave scene.

Next in UT's reissue and remastered back catalogue series, their first studio album "Conviction", originally released in 1986.
The 2019 remastered reissue of CONVICTION will include song lyrics, photos of the band and an introduction by Stewart Lee. The CD will add Ut's previously unreleased 7' single 'Ampheta Speak / While I Wait', recorded for Charles Ball's Lust/Unlust label in 1980. A CD booklet will feature the poster for the original 7' release and some of the cover artwork.
First 500 LP will come with Stewart Lee introduction as a printed insert.

Radical rock group UT was founded by Nina Canal, Jacqui Ham and Sally Young in 1978. Originated in the downtown NYC No Wave scene and inheritors of the collision between rock, free jazz and the avant-garde, Ut exploded the rigidity of conventional rock, constructing songs through collective improvisation, swapping instruments and rotating the role of singer/director.
Migrating to London in 1981, Ut played with bands like The Fall and The Birthday Party and released music on its own label Out Records, including Live at The Venue in 1982, the Ut EP in 1984, the Confidential 12' in 1985 and the LP Conviction in 1986. Ut became a favourite of BBC's John Peel and recorded sessions for his show in '84, '85 and '87. Joining forces with Blast First in 1987, they released the live compilation album Early Live Life and then the highly critically acclaimed In Gut's House in 1988, which made the year's NME 'Top 50 Albums'. The album Griller followed in 1989, engineered by label mate Steve Albini, who shared Ut's raw aesthetic and captured the band's vibrant intensity.Ut disbanded in 1990, but began performing again in 2010. Ut are now reissuing their entire remastered catalogue on Out Records through Forte Distribution. The reissues have so far included the Ut and Confidential 12' EPs in November 2017, Ut Live at The Venue in April 2018 and Early Live Life in November 2018. Other upcoming reissues will include their studio albums In Gut's House and Griller.

This is THE single. 1979. Detroit, Michigan. A-Moms, a.k.a. Algebra Mothers, were one of the Midwest's early cutting-edge new wave punk groups, who would go on to play shows with like-minded artists Pere Ubu and Destroy All Monsters. And this is their only release ever, that is, up until Third Man released a compilation of unreleased and live material last summer. Now you have the chance to own a reissue of the single that sparked it all.
'Strawberry Cheesecake' is absolutely frantic and infinitely catchy, popping right off of the platter into your ears. Lightning bolt melodic synth punches, desperately human but then briefly robotic vocals and no shortage of freewheeling guitar solos make no secret why this track so beloved. On the flip side, 'Modern Noise" is an alien punk keyboard-cram blaster with a decimating, canonical guitar freakout feedback ending that successfully melts minds.

In January of 1980 Joy Division kicked off a tour of The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany with a show at the legendary Paradiso Club in Amsterdam. Little did anyone know that in less than 6 months, Ian Curtis would be dead, and the brief, brilliant run of the group would be over. This is a particularly heavy and deep set, with the band performing at their angular best, and Curtis in top form vocally. Essential live broadcast for any fan of Joy Division.

Recorded at Eastern Artists Recordings in East Orange, New Jersey, during the US visit the previous September, New Order's first single might, in an alternative universe, have Joy Division's next. The 12' single, originally released in March 1981 (the 7' having been released in January) including the original version of 'Ceremony', will feature remastered audio on heavyweight vinyl.

The alternative, re-recorded version of 'Ceremony' now also featuring Gillian Gilbert in the band was released later in 1981 and will feature the later alternative 'cream' sleeve rather than the originalgreen and copper. This 12' will feature remastered audio on heavyweight vinyl.

Originally released on Factory Benelux in December 1981, this 12' featured Everythings Gone Green, which had previously been on the reverse of the band's second 7' single 'Procession' in September 1981,and 'Cries And Whispers' and 'Mesh' whose titles were flipped on the cover causing confusion amongst fans and compilers ever since. This 12' will feature remastered audio on heavyweight vinyl.

Featuring the full versions of both tracks this 12' was first release in May 1982 and were the first self-produced released recordings. With 'Temptation' being a cast iron New Order classic, this is an essential part of any New Order collection. This 12' will feature remastered audio on heavyweight vinyl.

40 years after disbanding comes 'Fond Reflections', the
debut album that never was from cult 4AD band Rema
Rema.
Rema-Rema featured former members of The Models
and Siouxsie and The Banshees and their much-loved
'Wheel In The Roses' EP (1980) was among the first
records to be released on 4AD. Their only contribution
to the label's storied history, they split-up before its
release, going on to form or join bands as diverse as
Renegade Soundwave, The Wolfgang Press, Mass and
Adam and the Ants.
The debut album that never was, 'Fond Reflections'
comes almost forty years after their debut EP and has
been culled from the band's rich archive of reel-to-reel
and cassette recordings, with member Gary Asquith and
mixing engineer Takatsuna Mukai painstakingly working
on them to make the album as cohesive as possible.
The ten tracks pretty much reflect the band's live set
and is the closest to what their debut album could have
sounded like. Worth noting too that although all their
1980 EP tracks are present on the album, they are all
from different recordings.
The 2CD edition comes with a second disc entitled
'Extended Wheel In The Roses'. As its title suggests, it's
the four EP tracks as they were plus 'Entry' (taken from
the same studio session as the EP's A-side of 'Feedback
Song' and 'Rema- Rema') and 'No Applause' and
'Murdermuzic', two more tracks recorded at the same
1979 Albany Empire, London show as the EP's B-side,
'Instrumental' and 'Fond Affections'.

With Sympathy is the debut album by Ministry, released in 1983. Ministry's members at the time being Alain Jourgensen and Stephen George. The album could be considered more synth pop and new wave in comparison to the harder Industrial heavy metal style the band developed later on albums like Twitch and The Land Of Rape And Honey. Jourgensen's fake English accent was an homage to the new wave bands he loved at the time. Three singles were pulled from the album: 'Work For Love', 'I Wanted to Tell Her' and 'Revenge', the latter of which got a video.

Out of the ashes of Joy Division, the remaining members decided to carry on recording under the name of New Order. The band's debut album Movement recorded between 24th April to the 4th May 1981 at Strawberry in Stockport and featuring all new material, produced by Martin Hannett was released in 11th November 1981 on Factory Records.

The Movement boxed set will include the vinyl LP with its original iconic sleeve designed by Peter Saville, original album CD in replica mini album sleeve, a bonus CD of previously unreleased tracks, DVD of live shows and TV appearances plus hard backed book all housed in a lift off lid box.

The vinyl LP of the original album is cut on 180g and features the 2015 remastered audio, presented in a replica of the original sleeve.

The second CD includes 18 completely unreleased tracks made from Demos, Sessions, Rehearsal Recordings and an Alternative 7' version of Temptation.

Accompanying the set is a 48page hard back book which features photos and an essay.

Véronique Sanson is one of the most famous French pop oriented female
singer, songwriter, and composer of the 80s. She began her career in the 70s,
and was the girlfriend of genius composer Michel Berger. Her world turnt
upside down when she met Stephen Stills of Crossby Stills & Nash. One Day,
during a recording session in Paris, she left the studio pretending to go buy
cigarettes, but never came back... She flew overnight to the USA, where she
married Stephen Stills. In LA, she records new music with superstar
composers such as Ray Parker JR and Harvey Mason. "On m'attend là-bas",
produced in 1974, was one of the single of the album Le Maudit.
Funky French League is an intergenerational collective (based in Paris)
formed by Young Pulse (Gamm) , Dabeull (Roche Musique), Arthur Chaps,
Woody Braun (Malka Family), Mr Willy, DJ Asko et Uncle T (Groove
Deluxe). All coming from different universe from hip-hop, to electronic music,
but united by their love for the groove and the funk.

Music From Memory's final 12" for 2017 is a reissue of Dub Oven's self released, and sadly one-off, 1983 EP 'Skin N Bones'.
.
Pioneers in the Post Punk Industrial and New Wave scene in 1980's San Francisco, Gary Miles (Voice Farm) and Blaise Smith (Minimal Man), met at San Francisco's notorious 181 Club in December of 1982. This straight/same sex/swing-both-ways late night dive bar was tucked away in one of the city's most risky, drug riddled neighbourhoods. Stationed near the SF Museum of modern Art it attracted a wild audience of local patrons, aspiring young artists and music heads. In the thick of all this the duo felt impartial to a lot what was going on musically and set out to produce electronic music that could break through the "somewhat exhausted post disco sound that was then competing in the local San Francisco clubs". Enlisting soul vocalist Celeste Miller, the duo were also inspired by Lee 'Scratch' Perry / Upsetters dub tracks being produced in Jamaica and created a unique breed of avant guard hybrid New Wave/Electronic Funk.

With it's influences seemingly as much rooted in the past and the present as it was focused on the future, Dub Oven formed a distinct, mystical approach to music intended for the dance floor. All three tracks on this 12" embody a signature groove and an inventive synthesized abstraction to express a languishing urban unsettledness and spiritual awareness. Recorded at L7 Studios in San Francisco with the assistance of the the studio's in house producer Marco Perry (who currently now works with Bjork) the record was unfortunately overlooked by A&R at several major and even local labels and was finally self-released in very limited quantities. Utilising analog electronics and instrumentation, the record draws on elements of dub, new wave, soul and funk to create a sound that is uncategorizable and one that was perhaps simply too forward thinking for it's time.

From the heart of the late '70s / early '80s British underground scene, an extraordinary album at the very edge between art-rock, and punk. The Work were a full electric band featuring Tim Hodkinson, his very first project after the seminal experience of Henry Cow, and three younger maverick figures from the London underground scene. Unapologetically raw and direct, Slow Crimes, The Work's first album originally released in 1982, stands as one of the most essential and uncompromising pieces of vinyl in the field of experimental rock. This is a special edition LP + CD + printed inner sleeve with unpublished pictures and various memorabilia. The CD contains the album + 3 extra tracks from The Work's first and only 7" including the anthemic "I hate America". Includes printed inner sleeve.

There Is A Nostalgic Component To This Music To Be Sure, With Echoes Of Vini Reilly And The Blue Nile In The Periphery, As Well As Forgotten 80's Studio Projects Where The Engineer Decided It Was Important To Elide The Highs And Lows To Make A More Comfortable Space In The Middle. But Schray's Idiosyncrasies As A Writer And Player Void Any Readymade Comparisons. Rather, With Him At The Helm We Get Sonic Gems Such As The Loping Dub Bass Emerging From Nowhere In The Final Act Of The Most Excellently Titled "his Peculiar Livestreams" And The Metallic Resonances And Wide Open Spaces Conjured In "the Cruel Psychic," Compositional Sleights Of Hand That Make "first Appearance" A Record To Play And Replay In An Effort To Decode Its Odd And Many Mysteries.

Mannequin Records presents a trilogy of reissues from the avantgarde Italian-born producer Doris Norton, "Nortoncomputerforpeace" (1983, originally released by Durium Records), "Personal Computer" (1984), "Artificial Intellingence" (1985).

Apple's first music "endorsement" and Roland affiliate, Doris Norton is one of the most important women pioneer in the use of synths and in the early electro / computer music. Norton is the wife of Antonio Bartoccetti, progressive rock guitarist, and mother of the musician and techno producer Rexanthony. As a teenager, she was drawn to medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music, not to mention quantum physics, differential equations, organic chemistry, the experimentalism of John Cage and animated movie soundtracks. Her love for modules and circuits found expression through the waves of an old harmonium, the frequencies of a Minimoog, a Roland System 100M, a Roland System 700 and the ARP 2500/2600.

In 1980, Norton began her solo career by recording at Fontana Studio 7, the Milan studio of the composer and musician Tito Fontana, resulting in the electronic opera "Under Ground". Norton became more prolific, continuing her adventures in experimental electronics and computer music with Parapsycho (1981), Raptus (1981), Nortoncomputerforpeace (1983), PC (1984) - whose album cover prominently features Apple's colored logo - and Artificial Intelligence (1985).

Third studio album, 'Nortoncomputerforpeace' involved Doris Norton, Antonius Rex and Rudy Luksch (hardware engineer).

"Don't Shoot At Animals" was used as original soundtrack for the RAI tv program "Rumore Di Fondo" directed by Umberto Marino.

2nd EP of the tenebrous parisian boy named Beige, this 5th Global Warming EP goes deeper into our vision of post-apocalyptic club music. It opens with an arid psychedelic jam, lynchesque journey into a never-ending space hole; that comes with a loud dub and primitive remix from Berlin based mate Don't DJ. Considered as minimalistic, electronic, dark new wave classics, both 12' EPs by DAYS OF SORROW are highly sought after nowadays, fetching insane prices when seen for sale. For this reason and our love for the band we are immensely proud of making these two EPs available again after more than 30 years, in the form of a COMPILATION ALBUM entitled 'WHATEVER HAPPENS' which also INCLUDES TWO UNRELEASED SONGS FROM 1986 (and three more in the included digital download) that were shelved and forgotten back then. All songs have been carefully remastered for this awaited release. We bring it to you as a limited, hand numbered edition of 200 black vinyl copies, housed in a matt finish sleeve with printed inner sleeve full of band pics and including a download code.

DAYS OF SORROW was born in a small town north of Düsseldorf (Germany) in 1981. The post-punk / new wave movement was at its boiling height. Their first 12' EP 'Remembering the Days' was published in the late 1984. After a lot of live gigs and a line-up change a full ten track album was recorded in December 1986. But the album never materialized and another 12' EP entitled 'A Thousand Faces' was released instead in 1987, featuring just three of the ten recorded songs, while the rest remained unreleased. Shortly after, just ahead of a scheduled Spanish tour, DAYS OF SORROW disbanded.

In 1978 & under the influence of British Punk, Siglo XX formed in a garage in Genk, Belgium. Later the band released three EP's: The Art Of War (1982), Answer (1983) and Dreams Of Pleasure (1983). In total these were 13 songs altogether, which constitute the heart and soul of the oeuvre of Siglo XX, lingering between cold wave, new wave and post punk. This box set contains all 3 EP's

K aka Kofe aka Coffee was one of the pioneering Russian New Wave bands in the mid 80's although they were not very known in that time. The band was founded in 1983 in Leningrad and in 1986 they released their amazing second album 'Balance', which was re-issued 5 years ago on Baran Records / Other Voices Records. Bordello A Parigi had the opportunity to release a 12 single of this album with two album tracks and additional edits by Lithuanian born KGBK who you might know from his London based Parabox radio show. Straight from the delirious minds of unconventional geniuses Kaoru Sato (who had previously released an album as R.N.A. Organism on legendary Osaka label Vanity Records) and Yuji 'Banana' Kawashima, Lingua Franca-1 is a seamless voyage of spellbinding mutant funk grooves, joyful post-punk explorations, synth fantasies, sexy distortions, and fluid cool-no-sweat vocals. Constantly mutating in an almost biological way (similarly to Colored Music's self-titled album), always mysterious and seductive, sometimes reminiscing of a freaky cross between PiL, Liquid Liquid, Bowie and Yello, EP-4's debut is hard to label, although 'Debonair Wave' could be a legitimate way to describe this Japan's best-kept-secret of an album. Defying the rules wasn't limited to sonic experimentations for band leader Kaoru Sato. To promote Lingua Franca-1, he and his crew plastered gigantic (illegal) billboards all over Shibuya and Harajuku, announcing performances in four different cities on odd hours of the same day (May 5th 1983). Other of his notable antics included originally sub-titling the album Death to the Emperor Showa causing a controversy (which led to censorship and a title-change), trying to release two albums on the same day without the concerned labels being aware of the plan or, in the R.N.A. Organism days, fooling Vanity Records into believing the demo he sent them came from a foreign band (it worked). Unique personality, unique music!
